Chapter 3: Lost

Coldness. That was the only thing he could feel. So cold that his whole body felt numb. He was sure he had died. And somehow he had hoped that death would at least feel like how they have told him. A warm light at the end of a dark tunnel, slowly embracing him in its warm glow. But this was nothing he had ever imaged it. There was no light, not even a tunnel or something similar to it. Darkness. That's all he was able to see. Somewhere in his subconsciousness, he knew that he was still alive, that his heart was still beating. But he would rather be dead than feeling this coldness. For him it was unbearable and in his mind he was praying that it will be over soon.

And then he felt it. Warmth. A warm body beneath his cold, dying one. Sasuke felt his own body moving and soon he was thrown over – that's what he thought – a muscled back. Something furry was also wrapping around him, keeping him close and safe to the person who was carrying him. In his mind he thought that maybe his teammates had found him and now he was lifted onto Kakashi's or Sai's back so they could bring him back to Konoha. The Uchiha noticed the warm body moving under him and he knew that they had started their way back.

Not longer than maybe fifteen minutes, they came to a halt. Then the body Sasuke was currently lying on shifted and he was gently placed on a soft bed. Whilst the raven was wondering where he was, he felt the person move away from his body. The soothing warmth also disappeared and Sasuke was left cold again. The Uchiha subconsciously begged for the hot body to return to him, when he noticed someone remove his hitae-ate. As soon as the offending metal left his forehead, a soft hand was placed on it.

As soon as the person's hand touched his cold skin, light blue Chakra was forced into his system. The invading energy was running through the Uchihas entire body, embracing him in a warm, comfortable light. The cuts and bruises on the ravens abused body were healing and the poison, that was flowing through his veins was removed slowly. When the mysterious person was done, the raven-haired teen was left with a warm, soothing feeling which calmed his still active mind and everything went black.

The blond teen let out a relieved breath after he had healed the unconscious boy. He wiped away the sweat on his forehead with the back of his hand and stood up, stretching his muscles. Now after the most difficult part is done, the only thing that was left is to clean up the in dried blood covered Shinobi. The blond fox looked around his home, searching for the required utensils. His gaze fell upon a wooden handmade shelf, filled with dishes. The fox-like boy grinned, when he caught a glimpse of a large ceramic bowl, decorated with small pink flowers. He made his way to the shelf, graping the bowl in both of his hands an crawled out of his cave.

When he stepped out into the dark, he took a deep breath, filling his nostrils with the cool midnight air. Thanks to his advanced senses, the blond boy was able to see in the dark. As he made his way to the lake to fill the bowl in his hands with the clear water, he heard a small rustle behind him. The teen turned around only to see a small orange fox standing directly behind him, looking at him with awe.

/I've returned from my daily patrol Naruto-sama./ spoke the fox in a calm voice which held respect for the blond boy. Naruto smiled at the little animal. /Did you see or find anything strange in the forest?/ he asked. /Not that I can remember./ replied the fox /But I've seen some humans wandering in the forest, if you count this as strange./ he continued. The teen furrowed his eyebrows, thinking hard. /Where those humans a pink-haired girl, a raven-haired boy and a silver-haired man by any chance? Konoha Shinobis to be more specific./ Naruto asked. The fox thought a moment before replying /No. The humans I saw looked different, they weren't even Konoha Shinobi when I remember correctly. They didn't wore any hitae-ates./ answered the orange fox, wondering what his master was getting at. /Why do you ask?/ he wanted to know. /Oh it's nothing, nothing important. Thanks for the report Kyuu./ Naruto said smiling.

'Those humans must be the Shinobi, who attacked the other group.' the blue-eyed boy mused. Kyuu – short for Kyuubi – made his way to his master, only to jump on the blond's shoulder.
The whiskered teen lifted his hand to scratch his friend behind his furred ears, earning a purr from the small creature. /So what were you up to now, Naruto-sama?/ asked Kyuubi with a hint of amusement in his tone. /Oh nothing much Kyuu, I've only rescued a half-dead boy in the forest and brought him here, so I could help him./ Naruto replied as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. /You did what?!/ screeched the fox /You brought a good damn human here?! Are you insane?!/ he rant on, without any respect in his tone like before. /How can you bring him here, this is a holy place a--/

/Would you please calm down now? You're upsetting the whole forest. Jeez/ Naruto cut him off before the fox could go any farther. /I've had my reasons. I couldn't let him be like that, the boy would have died!/ the blond-haired boy replied with concern in his voice. /I'm watching over this forest after all so it's my duty tho protect anything within it and the boy is also from Konoha./ he reasoned. Kyuubi let out a long sign, knowing it would be useless to argue with his stubborn friend. /Whatever kit but be please be careful, OK?/ he warned. /Yes mom./ the boy chuckled when he saw the glare the small fur ball send him.

Since the discussion was over, Naruto returned to his previous task before he was interrupted by his furred friend. Kneeling at the edge of the island , he dove the bowl into to lake, filling it with clear water. He returned to his cave with the full bowl and Kyuubi on his tail, happy to see that the black-haired boy was still asleep. The whiskered teen placed the water filled bowl beneath his guest, whilst searching for soap and a clean towel.

Kyuubi watched in amusement while his friend was cleaning the sleeping Shinobi from any blood and dirt on his body. Naruto had blushed to the roots of his blond hair, when he started to undress the raven, noticing the boys perfect sculpted body. He couldn't help but stare at the teen. And Kyuubis smart ass comments only made is blush worse. After he was done with his task, he dressed the unconscious teen in a simple white yukata.

/Ah finally done/ Naruto said tired voice /Let's hope he will wake ups soon so we can bring him back home./ Kyuubi gave him a weird look /We?/ he asked /Yes *we* or do you have a problem with that?/ the blond replied, giving his friend a hard glare. The fox only shook his head, he knows when not to argue with his master. /Good. OK let's get out and find something to eat, I'm starving!/ and as if on command the boys stomach growled,. Naruto grinned sheepishly, scratching his neck. Kyuubi rolled his eyes at him. /Then let's go./ and both made their way out of the cave to find something to eat.

Sasuke woke up to the growling sound of his stomach, signaling that he hadn't eaten in a while. The first thing he noticed was that he was *not* in Konoha, in a hospital bed like he supposed to. Instead he was in a sort of cave - lying on a straw bed - which looked like the liar of some animal. 'Where the hell am I?' he asked himself, looking around for some sign that will reveal his whereabouts. While searching for a clue also noticed that he was healed, cleaned and dressed in a white yukata.

This little detail confused him. Since when are animals able to heal injured people? Furthermore how did he get here? 'What the hell is going on? How did I get here and more important by whom?' were the never ending questions of a very confused Uchiha. He closed his obsidian eyes, trying to remember what happened after he blacked out. 'After I collapsed, everything felt cold, and then there was something warm, yes warm...someone found me and picked me up.' he remembered briefly 'And then we moved...and after some time I was placed on the ground again and...then...yes I felt someones Chakra enter my body and then everything went black again.'

After he finished his train of thoughts, the raven-haired teen came to the conclusion that someone had saved his Uchiha ass. But that didn't explain why he was in a cave. He stood up, stretching his sore muscles and looked around again. Now that his mind was made up he could see that this wasn't only a simple cave. There were furnitures like a shelf, which was filled with dishes, on the left wall and beneath was a small wooden table. On the other side of the cave was something that looked similar to a fireplace. Heavy stones with the size of a melon were towered above each other, to create a wall with a hole in it which was obviously for the fire. (A/N: I know the description sucks, gomen nasai!)

There was another wooden shelf in this 'room' which looked like the persons closet. 'God...does this mean a *human* lives here? Does this also mean I'm still in the forest?' the raven thought wondering.
'Whatever, I don't have time to think about it. Now I've to get out of here.' He didn't care were this so called human currently was, hell he didn't even think about thanking him for saving his ass. Sasuke looked for his clothes, grunting in annoyance when he couldn't find them. Luckily who ever found him, had the brain to left him his weapons. He picked up his weapon pouch from the small table were it was lying on and crawled out of the sticky cave.

As soon as the Uchiha prodigy reached the surface, he couldn't stop the small gasp that escaped his lips. Before him lies the most beautiful lake he had ever seen. The pale gentle moonlight was reflecting on its surface, giving the lake an eternal glow. The onyx-eyed then also noticed the in full blossom standing Sakura tree. 'But that's impossible.' thought the raven in wonderment 'It's the middle of autumn, Sakura trees only blossom in spring.' He shrugged it of, since he has more important things to care now. Sasuke let his black eyes wander over the lake to the other side of the forest, trying to locate his whereabouts. It didn't take him long to figure out his situation.

“I'm totally lost.” was the Uchihas conclusion before he slumped to the ground defeated.

I'm sorry for everyone wo hoped that
Sasuke will meet Naruto in this chapter,
but they won't meet each other anytime soon.
But I've already planned their meeting
in the fifth chapter. Thank you all
