Better Than Drugs

**sorry for posting so late!!! I just didn't know what to write. **pouting** I think I misplaced my muse some wheres .....

Any who here it is, hope everyone like....!

Naruto stood under the spray of warm water. The water felt so good as it flowed down his body. This day had been crazy he thought as he turned the water off and grabbed a towel. He headed into his room and dried off. He grabbed a pair of black pajama bottoms with orange foxes imprinted on the fabric. He was exhausted; Naruto turned to see 3:30am flashing at him. Before falling into a deep sleep dark eyes invaded his mind then they were gone.

Sasuke looked at his watch and could see that it was going on 4am. He knew he was going to hear it but he didn't care. He had a job and it's doing something that he actually loved to do. As he stepped through the doors he was so distracted about his job that he didn't see the fist that headed straight for his head. The blow knocked him off his feet and back outside. He saw stars for a second before pink invaded his vision.

"Damnit Sakura!" he hissed. He rubbed his jaw trying to ease the pain.

"Sasuke! I am soooo sorry! I thought you were a burglar!" she told him while she helped his stand.

She helped him over to the couch and dropped him down. Her initial shock was over now her face creased in anger, “where the hell have you been?”
Sasuke looked into Sakura’s crystal green eyes smiling.

Sakura frown dropped ‘was that a smile,’ she wondered. She had really never seen him smile before and it was…nice.

“I got a job,” he told her.

“What!!! Oh my God!!!! Where? What are you doing? Is it close to home? Can I go check it out?” The questions just seem to tumble from her mouth as she plopped down beside him on the couch, both forgetting that it was after 4am.

“Ok, ok, it’s as this club called The Sand….” Before he could finish.

“No way! That place is always packed. I remember when I tried to get in there, but I didn’t get a chance….”

Shaking his head he continued, “I’m the lead singer for their house band….”

Sakura actually screamed, “No Way! Kunai is so great! You’re the lead singer?” She calmed down a bit then looked at him again, “well, what happened to Sai?”

Shrugging his shoulders, “don’t know, but when Naruto took me there Gaara just said that their singer had up and left and….”

“Hold up….wait a minute. Who is Naruto?” Her eyes narrowed.
Sasuke knew that she was going to react like this. “He’s a guy that I met yesterday on the street. I was performing and these thugs started harassing me and they stole my money. Naruto actually scared them off and found me that job at The Sands.”

Sakura has always been very protective of him ever since she let him back in her life. After all she was his sister-in-law. Yep, Sakura was married to Itachi, Sasuke’s older brother who died in a car accident. Sasuke till this day still doesn’t believe it was an accident. Anyway after his death everything went down hill for him.

“Sasuke, please be careful. I don’t want you too…” she paused. She nibbled on her lower lip.

“Sakura, I’m having lunch with him tomorrow, want to join us?” This was the only way to ease her mind.

Naruto stepped into The Sand and noticed a nice little crowd. The Sand also served lunch and dinner. He spotted Sasuke in a second. It was like he was drawn to the raven haired man. As he approached the table he could see that a pink haired woman was sitting with him. And they seemed to be arguing.

"Damnit Sakura will you stop acting like a bloody teenager!" Sasuke hissed.

"But he spoke to me! He is so hot!" She told him. Hell she couldn't help it. When a fine piece of man walks up to the table and speaks to you what’s a girl to do. As they sat there waiting for Naruto, Neji had walked in and seen Sasuke so he walked over to the table to say hi.

~~Flashback~~

"Sasuke, I just wanted to say you did a great job last night."
"Thanks Neji, but those songs, those lyrics were great." Sasuske told him.
"Thanks, sometimes when I write a song everything goes into them," smiling a little at the compliment.
"You mean you wrote all those songs?" Sasuke was amazed. He dabbled in song writing but nothing like Neji's work.
"Yeah, but the guys helped on some of them. Hopefully you can help on a song that I'm working on. I'll show it to you tonight."
Sakura poked Sasuke under the table.
"I'm sorry, Neji this is my sister in law, Sakura Uchiha. Sakura, this is Neji Hyuuga."
Neji smiled, "it's nice to meet you, Sakura."
Sakura controlled herself very well, "same here Mr. Hyuuga."
"Please call me Neji. Will you be coming tonight to hear Sasuke sing?" he asked.
Sakura wasn't sure. He hadn't asked her so she didn't want to impose. She was about to say as such when Sasuke interrupted her.
"Yeah, she's coming. I made arrangements with Gaara already."
"Cool," turning to Sakura, “see you tonight." Then he walked toward the stage then disappeared through the back.

~~Flashback end~~

"I am not acting like some 'bloody' teenager, Chicken butt head," she hissed as she glared at him with clear green eyes.

That's when Naruto stepped up to the table smiling. He had to contain himself from laughing at what she called him. He received what he was going to dub the ‘Uchiha glare’ from the raven haired man. So the laugh kinda died down, but it wasn't gone.

"Hey Sasuke," he said as he stood there.

Sasuke looked at him wondering why he was just standing there, and then he noticed those blue eyes looking at his sister in law. "Naruto this is Sakura my sister in law."

Naruto's eyes sparkled as he took Sakura's hand and kissed her knuckles, "the pleasure is all mine," he told her.

Sakura's eyes widened as a blush spread across her face, "nice to meet you too Naruto."

He let go of her hand and sat down facing Sasuke who was giving him a look like ‘WTF?'

Naruto was oblivious to the look and picked up his menu.

Sakura looked at the menu that the blonde held up then she glanced over at her brother in law and that's when she saw it. Smiling she stood, "I forgot that I have an appointment. So I'll see you later Sasuke-kun." Looking over at Naruto, "it was nice to meet you to." she told him.
Sakura stepped over to Naruto to place a light kiss on his cheek but whispered instead, "please watch out for him."

Smiling Sakura left the two men alone.

"What the hell was that?" Sasuke asked his voice just a little on edge sounding. Why was he reacting like that?

"Nothing she was just saying that she'll see you tonight." Naruto told him. He wasn't going to tell him what she said until he figured out what she meant.

They ordered their food, as they waited Naruto asked him some questions about how he started singing. Naruto wanted to stick to the safe questions. He didn't want to go deeper with him.

Sasuke noticed that he avoided asking him about why he was out on the street that day. He wasn't sure why but he wasn't going to bring it up.

Once their food arrived they continued to talk about everything. They learned that they both like the same kind of music and movies. Once the lunch dishes were cleared away, the bartender brought over a dessert and sat it down in front of Naruto.

His blond brows creased in confusion, "I didn't order any dessert." He looked down at the chocolate cake with fudge icing and whipped cream on top, his favorite.

"I did. I wanted to say thanks for finding me this job."

Naruto looked at the raven, "not a problem. But how did you know this was my favorite?"

A light blush crept across Sasuke's nose, "Gaara had mentioned it when he was telling me about your "wild" college days about the dessert eating contest." Sasuke smirked.

Smiling, "Geez Gaara, can’t keep nothin’ to himself." He looked into Sasuke’s dark eyes, "thanks." He picked up his fork and took a bite of the cake. Ohhhh, it was soooo gooooodddd! He moaned inside his head. He scooped up another piece, but this time the moan slipped from his lips instead of inside his head. He didn't notice but everyone else had. Luckily the lunch crowd was gone and only the workers were left.

Sasuke’s dark eyes widened at the site and sound of Naruto. How can food make him sound and look so, so damn sexy...did he just say that?

Naruto opened his eyes and pinned those baby blues to Sasuke's. Smiling he scooped up another piece and extended his arm across the table. "Here, have a taste."

"I really don't like sweets," he told the blond.

Of course that didn't deter him. "Come on Sasuke, just this once. Please...." Naruto asked. Wait a minute, was he begging him?

Sasuke looked at the fork that held the chocolate concoction. How someone can eat this is beyond him, he thought. Well, Naruto seemed to enjoy it, “Fine," he said. He opened his mouth as Naruto moved the fork closer until Sasuke closed his mouth and eyes when the dessert landed on his tongue when the fork was pulled out.

Naruto couldn't help but stare at him. He was beautiful. His pale skin was smooth and his hair was the color of midnight with a hit of blue. Those eyes of his, you could drown within their darkness. And seeing him eating the cake and actually enjoying it brought a smile to Naruto's lips. His smile froze when he saw his pink tongue dart out to lick his lower lip, searching for crumbs. His mind went hazy when Sasuke's voice asked, "more, please." He opened his mouth and waited.

Sasuke didn't know what was going on but that cake was delicious. Maybe he could tolerate eating that once in a while. But right now he wanted another taste. He held his mouth open and eyes closed, waiting. He felt Naruto ease the fork in and once he closed his mouth the fork slid out. The sensation of the cake and the taste caused an unintentional moan to escape his lips. It wasn't as loud as Naruto's was but it was audible to the blond.

Naruto stared at him as he worked the cake inside his mouth. Dear Kami, he looked so....hot, he thought. WHAT! He pulled his eyes away from the raven as he finished the rest of the cake.

Sasuke finished the morsel in his mouth as he licked his lips, "that was good," he told Naruto smiling. "Maybe I can tolerate....are you ok?" He asked.

"I'm fine!" He said it a little too quickly. "I'm fine, I'm glad you enjoyed the cake." He smiled.

Sasuke looked down at his watch and swore. "I hate to end this but I have to get going. I didn't realize it was so late." He stood up. "I gotta get ready for tonight, so I'll see you later?"

Naruto stood looking at the raven. He didn't want to. He didn't want to hurt again. He was about to decline when Gaara came up behind Sasuke.

"Of course you're going to see Naruto. He promised to help me out tonight behind the bar, didn't you Naruto." Gaara gave him one of his 'deny me and die' looks.

"Yeah, I'm going to be here. See ya tonight."

Sasuke let go of his breath, he didn't realize he had been hold. "See you guys later." He walked out of the Sands, heading home to get ready.

Naruto turned toward Gaara, glaring at him. "What the hell you do that for?"

Gaara sat down in Sasuke's seat. "I saw your eyes when you were watching him."

Naruto sat down.

Gaara knew what his emotions were. He was surprised their relationship lasted 2 years with all what happened to him.

"I don't want to care anymore Gaara," Naruto whispered. "It hurts too much when they find out and then they leave." he raised blue eyes to see green staring back.

Gaara reached across the table and covered Naruto's hand, "our relationship would not have lasted, Naru. I wasn't 'the' one for you. But I loved you as much as I could and I understood. I still do."

Naruto smiled, "I'm glad I came back. I'm glad that you’re here," he told him.

"Ok, enough of this mushy crap. I got a club to run. Get your butt home and get some rest. Be back here at 7pm."

"Sakura, will you hurry up! I'm going to be late!"

Sakura smiled as she walked in from the kitchen. It has been so long since she has heard such excitement in Sasuke's voice. She wanted to cry but she held back her tears. "I'm right here, let’s go!" She told him as she walked passed him and out the door.

Rolling his eyes he followed her out.

Naruto walked into the Sands and smiled as he saw the crowd. Gaara was doing so good, he thought. He figured that he was holding him back when they were together in school. He had so much crap going on in his life, his head; it didn't feel right to pull Gaara into that mess.

Ino spotted the other blond as he entered the bar, "NARUTO!" she shouted waving her hands.
Smiling he made his way through the bodies and walked behind the bar. Ino gave his a hug. "So how was lunch today?" She asked while she made a coke and rum.

"It went ok. He's a nice guy. Though he brought his sister in law, Sakura...”

"Sakura?" Ino stopped and stared at him. "Sakura Hanuro? Girl with Pinkish hair?" Her blue eyes waiting.

"Yeah, but I don't know about the last name. It's Uchiha, she was married to Sasuke's older brother."

"I haven't seen her in a long time," she whispered.

"You know her?"

"Yeah, we were best friends when we were younger, then she moved and I never saw her again."
"Well she's coming tonight with Sasuke."

Smiling, "it would be good to see her again."


Sasuke and Sakura walked into the club. It was packed he thought as he scanned the crowds. He spotted a splash of blond over by the bar and headed in that direction.
Sakura followed behind him.

He stopped at the bar watching the blonde with a female customer, flirting shamelessly.
Sasuke found that he didn't like that much, but why? He wondered. He just knew that he didn’t like what he saw.

The pink hair woman saw the way Sasuke was looking, "hey Naruto!" she called out to the blond.

Naruto looked up from the girl he was talking to and saw Sakura. He smile but as his blue eyes traveled over they locked with black. And those eyes didn't look happy, he thought. He gave the girl her drink then walked down the bar toward them.

Sasuke was pissed, but he didn't know why. He watched as Naruto came toward them. He really didn't want to talk to him right now.

Before Naruto could say hi Sasuke turned to Sakura, "I'll see you after the show. Hope you like it." he told her and without even looking at Naruto made his way through the writhing bodies toward the stage.

Naruto's looked after the raven with confusion. What the hell? He thought as he looked at Sakura, "hey Sakura. What's his problem?"

"Not sure, but I have an idea." She told him.

"Well?"

"Sorry Naruto-kun, you'll have to ask him." She told him smiling then her smile turned into a full on shriek. "INO!"

Ino stepped from behind Naruto, "SAKURA!!!!" Both women hugged.

"Oh my goodness, Ino! I thought you had moved away!" she told her friend.

"No after you left....."

Naruto walked away from the reminiscing friends and went back to filling drink orders and thinking about Sasuke. It was bothering him a lot which he wished it didn't.

Gaara walked up on stage and got everyone's attention, “Thanks for comin' out everyone! Now what you've all been waiting for, Kunai!!" The crowd went wild as the guys came out on stage.

Everyone wore black jeans that fitted them perfectly. All had on a different color tank. Kiba wore a maroon colored tank; Shika wore a gold colored one. Neji wore a silver tank and Sasuke wore a dark blue tank.

Sasuke walked up to the mic and smiled. All the females went wild. "Thanks for coming out and supporting us! Please enjoy!" He shouted.

Kiba started them off alone with Neji. Shika came in. Then Sasuke started.

Sasuke's eyes found sky blue, smirking he continued.

The crowd when wild. They loved the band and the members. There were fan girls and fan boys in the audience for all the members.

They continued to sing a couple more songs until they went on break.

"We are going to take a break but we will be back!" Sasuke shouted. Then he walked off the stage.

Naruto couldn't get the raven out of him head. He wanted to find out what that was about earlier so he headed toward the back.

Sakura was in awe. She didn't realize that Sasuke was that good. His voice was raw and with an edgy sound and just plain great! She turned to see Naruto heading toward the back. She smiled as she took a sip of her drink.


"Neji, those were great songs!" Sasuke told him as he wiped his face off.

"Thanks, everyone had a hand in those."

Kiba smiled as he rubbed his little puppy's stomach. "Yeah, it was a pain, but once you hear the finished product it was worth it.”

Sasuke headed toward the door, "I'll be back in a sec, I gotta get some air."

Naruto saw the raven walk out the back door so he followed him.

Sasuke's mind was reeling. This was the best thing that's ever happened to him and he hoped this wasn't a dream. He heard the door open, so he turned to be met with angry cerulean eyes.

He turned away. He knew he was being childish and he had no right to feel like that.

"Hey Sasuke. You got a problem with me?" Naruto asked.

"Hn."

"That's not an answer teme."

Sasuke turned around and faced him, "what did you call me, dobe."

"What the hell is your problem? I've been nothing but nice to you."

He was right, Sasuke thought. He shouldn't be this way but..."I didn't know you had a girlfriend."

"A girlfriend? What are you talking about?" Then he remembered the girl from the bar earlier. Smiling, "oh her. Well I have a tendency to flirt with a pretty face," he told him, which was true. Maybe it was how his brain was wired.

"Hn." Whatever, Sasuke thought. He went to walk pass the blond but was stopped with a hand on his shoulder. He was spun around facing piercing blue eyes.

I hope you enjoy this, might be a little, well alot slow but I hope to pick it up...I just have to dust off my muse, poke him in the ass more so I can get some ideas...
