Friends aren´t the best choice when we are in love

Friends aren’t the best choice when we are in love

Chapter 2: New people

Thursday 10:00 a.m

‘‘Nhg...’’ Naruto mumbled. He could hear an annoying noise, and he supposed it was his alarm clock. He shut it off, and got up. He yawned loudly, scratched his hair, and walked inside the bathroom. He took a hot shower, and when he finished, he took a towel and dried himself. He got his favourite boxers (black with orange whirls), jeans, an orange t-shirt and a pair of black trainers.

After looking at himself in the mirror and nodding in approval, he went to the kitchen to have breakfast. Yet he forgot it was his first day here, so the fridge was completely empty. Smacking his forehead lightly, he returned to his bedroom and looked inside his backpack for some ramen. Fortunately for him, he found his last cup of miso ramen.

‘‘Yay!! Hooray for the creator of this cups of ramen!!’’ He said happily.He took some chopstick he found in his backpack, and returned to the kitchen. He heated the ramen, then he sat down, said ‘Itadakimasu’ and began to eat.

‘‘I hope Ero-sennin comes in time…’’ He murmured. He finished his ramen, throwing the cup in the trash, and looked at his alarm clock. 10:42 a.m. He had some time to look around for whatever he needed to buy later. First of all, he needed food, spices and some utensils for the kitchen. He needed toilet paper, toothpaste, shower gel and shampoo for the bathroom.

While he was taking note of all the things he wanted to buy, the ring of the cellphone caught his ear. He quickly finished writing, sat up and took the cellphone.

‘‘Hello?’’ He asked.

‘‘It’s me, Jiraiya. Are you ready to go?’’ Jiraiya’s voice said calmly.

‘‘Yeah just give me a sec’’ He said and quickly hanged up the cellphone.

He took the list he just made from the table and he quickly went to his room to pick up his wallet and keys. He put the list within his wallet, then he keep it in his pocket. He exited his new home, locking the front door, and before going downstairs he looked at the elevator.

‘‘I hope they repair it soon’’ He said quite annoyed.

He reached the last door only to find an irritated Jiraiya. He was resting his back on the wall and his arms were crossed over his chest. Naruto walked near him with a raising eyebrow and questioning eyes. Jiraiya looked at him and sighed.

‘‘It’s nothing kid. Can we go now?’’ Jiraiya said while he began to walk.

‘‘I haven’t delayed that much’’ Naruto said with a pout, when he catched up.

Jiraiya just kept walking until they got outside the stance. He opened the door, and stepped out. Naruto followed him, and when he closed the door, he looked at Jiraiya, who was looking nowhere in particular. Then he suddenly looked at Naruto with serious eyes, and Naruto knew something was definitly wrong.

‘‘Naruto’’ Jiraiya’s voice sounded strangely worried. It was the kind of voice that told Naruto to expect the worst.

‘‘Y-Yeah?’’ He asked unsure.

‘‘I’m going to introduce you to the director of the University, an old friend of mine. I’ll show you around the university so you begin to become familiar with it. After it we’ll eat in a restaurant I know. Is that ok with you?’’

‘‘Uhm... Yes it is’’ Naruto said, not understanding what was the problem with that plan.

‘‘Well then we should leave, we’re already late’’ Jiraiya said, and began to walk once again. Naruto followed him closely.

While walking, Naruto looked everywhere amazed. Lots of people were working already. They were walking down a large street filled of people. Naruto saw a group of people that were riding bicycles. On the other side of the street, Naruto saw a girl taking a walk with his boyfriend (he supposed) and a little dog. A woman with a bigger dog walked next to them. Both dogs barked when they saw each other. Naruto chuckled quietly. He decided he would take a walk here whenever he needed it. He and Jiraiya walked for around 10 minutes until they reached a grand gate.

‘‘What a big door… is it the front door?’’ Naruto answer while pointing at the metallic gate.

‘‘You could say it the entrance to the University’’ Jiraiya explained.

He got close to press a button on the wall. When a little noise came from the speaker below the button, someone asked who it was.

‘‘I’m Jiraiya, I have a meeting with the Director’’

As soon as he said that, the big gate opened, so Naruto moved forward and entered the stance. His eyes widened when he took a look at his surroundings. He saw 5 huge blocks of different sizes and colors, and a beautiful fountain in the middle of the stance. Lots of trees where covering the kilometres of lawn.

‘‘What the heck is this, Ero-sennin!? Is ENORMOUS!!’’ Naruto observed. This place was like one of those ancient castles!!

‘‘This is where you’re going to study from now on, Naruto. This is Konoha University’’ Jiraiya stated, clearly happy with the reaction of Naruto. He’s eyes were wide and his mouth was opened.

‘‘Woahh it so cool!!’’ Naruto said happily. Before he could make a step, Jiraiya took his shoulder and turned him around.

‘‘Naruto, listen carefully. This place has 5 big blocks in total, each one for different kind of studies. Although, the central block is different from others, but you´ll see why soon. Here in Konoha University you are able to study any career and you are even able to study specialities. So, as you can see, it is quite admirable’’ Jiraiya explained while walking towars the fountain.

‘‘So, you’re telling me that anyone can study whatever they like most in this place!?? INCREEEEEDIBLE!!!!!’’ Naruto jumped in exitation.

‘‘Yes, but for that you need such a big space like this one, and lost and lost of staff, equipment and more. So you could say is one great University. You better be thankful’’

‘‘Hey, you know that I am!!’’ Naruto pouted.

‘‘Hahahaha!!! Well, let´s go inside already. Be careful and don´t get lost’’ Jiraiya mocked Naruto.

‘‘Geez, Ero-sennin!! I told you not to treat me like a kid anymore!! I will learn this place pretty quick, you just wait!!’’ Naruto punched in the air.

‘‘Yes, yes…’’

‘‘AHHHH DAMN ERO-SENIN!!! Wait for meeeee!!!!!’’

Naruto ran after Jiraiya. When they reached the central block, they entered the front door. Inside, all looked pretty and expensive, and modern as well.
They walked through a hall and reached an elevator. They took it and they moved up until the last floor. There a woman greeted them.

‘‘Good morning. Welcome to Konoha University. This way to the director´s office’’ She guided them.

Jiraiya nodded and reached the door to open it. Naruto stared at her. She was a middle-aged woman or even younger. She had black short hair and black big eyes. She was a normal height and was slim. She wore a uniform and in her badge he read her name: Shizune.

‘‘Nice to meet you, Shizune-san. I´m Uzumaki Naruto, a new student’’ Naruto introduced himself to the lady. She looked a bit shocked, but she smiled back.

‘‘Is nice to meet you too, Naruto-kun’’ She said kindly.

‘‘Stop flirting and come inside’’ Jiraiya called.

‘‘I-I’m not flirting!! Just being nice, geez!!’’ Naruto blushed and went inside. Shizune giggled and returned to her desk.

After Jiraiya closed the door, Naruto looked around. This office was amazing!! It was pretty big, with windows where you could see the fountain and almost the entire stance. There where some plants and book-shelves. In the center there was a long black desk with lots of books and papers on it. The swivel chair was hiding the director, who was looking through the windows.

‘‘So, you´re finally here…’’ A voice said. The swivel chair turned around and revealed a young woman. THE HELL!!??

‘‘Hey, long time no see, beauty’’ Jiraiya greeted the young lady.

Indeed, she was very beautiful, but Naruto was more impressed of seeing that such a young person was the Director of such a University. She had blonde long hair tied in two pigtails, and brown chocolate eyes. She was slim but not too tall. She was wearing a green suit. Naruto noticed her big and nice boobs. He blushed and looked at her face.

‘‘Don´t mess with me, you pervert, old man!!’’ She yelled and throwed a book at Jiraiya´s head. He dodged it and scratched his head. Naruto looked at the book which was nailed on the wall. Wow, angry women sure are scary…

‘‘Looks like you´re a bit angry with me. Well, I can’t do much about it, can I?’’

‘‘You was supposed to arrived two days ago!! What took you so long?’’ She kept throwing books at him ‘‘I´m a busy person, you know? So I don´t have much free time, not even in summer, so don´t make me waste it!!’’

‘‘Come on, I wasn´t late on purpose, really’’ Jiraiya kept dodging.

‘‘You probably lost time in peeking at the women baths, you damn pervert!!’’

Naruto observed in half-fear, half-surprise, the scene. When she stopped, Jiraiya sighed in relief. Naruto looked at the wall, which was now decorated with some nailed books.

‘‘Better?’’ Jiraiya asked as he scratched his neck.

‘‘I could be better if one had hit you’’ She said while she let herself fall on the chair.

‘‘You truly pissed me off’’ She said while she was massaging her temples.

‘‘Just from time to time. Anyway, I want you to meet this boy’’ Jiraiya pushed Naruto forward ‘‘His name is Naruto Uzumaki’’

She stared at him for a bit and then she got up. She walked near Naruto and examined him. Naruto felt awkward and a blush formed in his cheeks, as he saw her eyes concentrated in him.

‘‘Hmmm… he is exactly as you described him. Naruto’’ She called him.

‘‘Y-Yes madam?’’ He looked at her in fear.

‘‘I’m Tsunade, Director of Konoha University as you can see. I´m pleased to meet you’’ She smiled.

‘‘Is… is a pleasure to me, too’’

‘‘And no madam. For you I´m just Tsunade, ok?’’

‘‘Oh, o-ok’’

‘‘I hope you like this place. Get used to it soon and study a lot, you hear me?’’

‘‘Yes, I´ll study hard, promise!!’’

‘‘Good. Well, we have a lot to discuss so…’’ Tsunade returned to her desk.

‘‘Yes. Naruto, do you mind waiting outside? It won´t take long’’ Jiraiya said while pushing Naruto outside the door.

‘‘Really? I don´t know…’’ Naruto pouted.

‘‘I´ll kick him off my office soon, so don´t worry. Stay with Shizune please’’

‘‘Ok, as you wish’’ Naruto left the office and the two old friends to talk. He looked at Shizune who was writing something.

‘‘Oh, Naruto-kun. You already finished?’’ She asked.

‘‘Yes, but Jiraiya still has some things to talk with Tsunade’’ He said annoyed.

‘‘I see. Well, you can wait for him here, so suit yourself. Do you want some water?’’ She offered.

‘‘Yes, if you don´t mind’’ He said while scratching the back of his head.

‘‘Right away’’

Shizune took a plastic glass and filled it with water. She gave it to Naruto, who sat on the couch.

‘‘Thank you, Shizune-san’’

She smiled back and returned to her duties. Naruto drank the water and played with the glass. He looked around, bored, and he began to think a topic for a conversation with Shizune.

‘‘Uhm, Shizune-san, I don´t want to bother you but-’’

‘‘Here’’ She suddenly said.

‘‘Uh? What is this?’’ Naruto looked at the leaflet she was offering to him.

‘‘Is a map of the University. It will help you with the locations and more. I don´t want you to get lost’’ She explained.

‘‘Wow, thank you Shizune-san’’ Naruto blushed and took the map ‘‘You´re so kind’’ He smiled.

‘‘Aw, thank you Naruto-kun’’ She giggled. Just then the door opened.

‘‘Well, that´s all for now’’ Tsunade stated.

‘‘Yeah, I´ll be back in some time. Time to go, Naruto’’ Jiraiya walked to the elevator.

‘‘We´re leaving? Then, I hope to see you again, Tsunade’’ Naruto stated.

‘‘Sure, boy’’ Tsunade closed the door behind her.

‘‘And I´ll make sure to visit Shizune-san again!!’’ Naruto waved his hand happily.

‘‘I look forward to see you soon, Naruto-kun’’ Shizune waved back.

Naruto entered the elevator and pushed the button. They left the central block. When the metallic gate closed behind them, Jiraiya spoke.

‘‘Are you hungry?’’ Jiraiya asked.

‘‘Yeah, why? Are we going to eat?’’ Naruto raised and eyebrow.

‘‘Yes, we´re going to a place I know. You´ll like it’’

With that said, Jiraiya walked down the street to the south. Naruto put his hand on his belly and ran after Jiraiya, who patted his head and smiled. Naruto was surprised with this, but, in the end, he felt happy, so he smiled back.

Meanwhile, inside the director´s office…

‘‘SHIZUNE!! Come and clean this mess!!’’ Tsunade yelled.

‘‘Right away, Tsunade-sama!!’’ Shizune sighed as she began to extract the books from the wall.
