Chapter Three:

Noose

~*~*~*~

“…Sasuke Uchiha, huh?”

Naruto stood near the vampire’s head but made sure he behind the glass coffee table and had a good distance between him and the couch just in case his ‘guest’ suddenly woke up.

‘And he’s mine?’

Curious cerulean eyes gawked at the other male and Naruto felt the sudden urge to touch the beautiful being that looked just so vulnerable unconscious/sleeping on his couch.

Taking in the raven’s outfit, Naruto licked his lips nervously.

Sasuke Uchiha looked to be about sixteen with his slight frame and delicate size. His lithe body looked almost fragile; a complete contradictory to the feeling Naruto was getting from the dynamic waves of cold deadly power that radiated from his lethal body.

‘A rose with thorns is what they’d say,’

Knee high lace up black boots made of a soft leather covered his calves. Torn black vinyl pants that looked like they were painted on encased his long legs. A plain black spandex long sleeved t-shirt clung to his slim but lean chest enticingly snug.

A white bandage that was soaked entirely in blood wrapped around his slender torso. That was where the most bleeding was coming from. All the other wounds seemed to have already healed; except that one seemed to be taking the most time.

“We’re gonna have to rewrap that,” Naruto said out loud to himself as he swallowed the anxious lump in his throat.

The King of the Kyuubi pack blinked at the tight crisscross fastening that connected to what looked like a sword to the other’s back. Only the black handle showed from under the vampire’s still form.

That was the only visible thing he had on him that wasn’t either clothes or bloodied bandages.

Naruto wanted to check his pockets so that he could maybe find out a little bit more about this Sasuke but he didn’t know if he trusted himself not to …explore more than what was necessary.

“I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone like you before,” The blond murmured quietly as he took in the other’s face.

The vampire’s short hair was spiked in the back and had longer tendrils along his angelic face. The color was a shade darker than the night itself and the ebony strands stuck to the raven’s clammy white skin.

Small wounds that littered his cheeks here and there; that had been bleeding when Naruto had carried him in; were now fully healed. Even the blood was gone.

His face was absolutely flawless.

“Beautiful,” Naruto breathed out.

Long black onyx eyelashes rested against high pale sculptured cheekbones like precious butterfly wings.

Naruto frowned.

‘Why am I so fascinated by his body and face? I know it’s been a while since I’ve been with anyone but I shouldn’t feel this …attracted… to a guy I don’t even know,’

Blue eyes followed the even breaths that escaped from between delicate colorless lips. The tips of fangs could barley be seen behind the slightly parted lips.

Naruto leaned in close to get a better look and the exotic aroma of the other drifted into his nose.

Blood was the obvious scent. Centuries of lush green earth and old stone. A hint of dried sweat. And underneath all that a scent that seemed to be all Sasuke’s.

“Vanilla?”

The blond sniffed again, this time closer to Sasuke’s skin and let out a shaky sigh.

‘I think …I like his scent,’

SLAM!

Naruto jumped up in surprise and whirled around to face the stairs that lead up to the café and the front door that the slam and now shuffling boots was coming from.

“Yo, Naruto! You down there?” A male’s voice that sounded bizarrely like that of a dog’s bark called down just before two pairs of footsteps descended down the white carpeted stairs.

One pair was scuffled and slothful, while the other was loud and careless.

“Hey, is that you, Kiba?” Naruto asked as he walked away from his new favorite air freshener and over to meet his two friends and fellow pack members.

A boy the same age as Naruto; with scruffy brown hair and a thick red tattoo mark on each cheek, grinned at his Rex before slapping a hand on the blonde’s shoulder roughly.

Kiba Inuzuka wore an old blue jean jacket with baggy cargo pants, a red tank top under a black mesh shirt and a pair buckle snow boots that were two sizes too big.

He seemed to have a permanent flicker of mischief in his wicked eyes and a devious smirk to his pouty lips. He was your basic bad boy gone wild.

All in all, Kiba looked like he had gotten dressed in a hurry …and with the lights off.

“So, Shika here, told me you nabbed yourself a vampire toy, eh?” The wild haired Inuzuka jabbed at Naruto’s ribs as his eyebrows wiggled in a suggestive manner.

Naruto pushed the teasing werewolf off of him and turned appreciating blue eyes on his other friend.

“Thanks for spillin’!” He moped as he crossed his arms across his chest in a sulk.

Shikamaru Nara had his hands in his tan slack pockets and wasn’t paying any attention to his immature leader. He was staring at the sleeping vampire on the couch a few feet away with calculating brown eyes.

When the blond finally noticed his brooding was being wasted he looked to the other and could practically see the genius’s mind working over all the possibilities his ‘problem’ would mean for their pack.

The Nara didn’t look like he had just been woken up at 4:45 in the morning.

He wore a dark green wool turtleneck, that was a little rich for Naruto’s taste; nice-fitting tan slacks and a pair of Doc Martens. His shoulder length dark chestnut brown hair was pulled back into a high spiked ponytail.

Naruto envied Shikamaru since he never seemed to have the problem of facial hair and always looked clean cut and sharp even though his attitude would say different.

“That him?” Shikamaru asked as he finally tore his eyes from the vampire and to catch the eyes of his Rex.

Naruto scratched the back of his neck in awkwardness before he replied.

“Uh, yeah,” The blond mumbled out.

Shikamaru was silent before he began to nod, “Naruto, we’re going to need to call for help. You know this, right?” the Nara questioned as he walked towards the kitchen at a easy saunter.

Kiba appeared lost for a second before he looked to Naruto and the blond shrugged as they both followed the pony tailed male who was now sitting at the brightly colored kitchen table that could seat four.

All three were quiet until Kiba ultimately spoke up and broke the substantial silence.

“What do ya mean, Shikamaru? Need help from who, another lycanthrope pack? Incase you forgot, we’re the only lycanthrope group in this city. I knew comin’ here was a bad idea,” Kiba remarked as he picked up one of the apples from the fruit bowl that was in the center of the table.

“Not like we had a choice,” Naruto dropped his forehead to the table top and sighed deeply, “If we hadn’t come here, we would have been stuck fighting with other packs for the same measly strip of territory for years and still not have gained anything. Besides, we all made the decision together,”

Kiba took a bite of his apple with a wet crunch and talked around his full mouth.

“Yeah, but here in Konoha City, we’ve got vampires on both sides of us. Not to mention both of their master’s are insane! So, in other words, we’re stuck between a rock and a fucking hard place,” Kiba spat as a piece of the red fruit which landed by Naruto’s elbow.

“And so we don’t get involved in their war. That's what Iruka suggested. We just don't let either vampire clan know ‘who’ or ‘what’ we are,” Naruto muttered from his face that was still hidden in the bend of his arm.

“Don’t you think it’s a little late for that now, Naruto? I mean, you did outright challenge Itachi. Now it's a trio war,” Shikamaru said as he intertwined his fingers together and placed his elbows on the table in thought.

Naruto growled at the other’s comment.

Kiba swallowed three more bites of his apple before flinging the core into the trash can behind him without even looking.

He licked his lips as he asked in a quizzical tone, “Shikamaru, you said that we needed help, who were you thinking about asking exactly?”

The Nara was didn’t say anything for a few heartbeats and then he leaned back to peek out at the sleeping vampire in the living room before he turned back to his friends.

“Well, who I have in mind might kill two birds with one stone. Like Naruto, I don’t really know anything about vampires, so I don’t know what is truth or fiction according to the books. But if we don’t get him checked out soon, how are we to know if his injuries are fatal or not?”

Naruto lifted his head from the table and cocked his head to the side.

Shikamaru continued.

“So I believe we should call someone who knows how to treat vampire wounds and who could maybe help us with the whole ‘Itachi’ issue,” He finished as he got up from the his seat and pulled out a card from his back pocket and threw it onto the table.

Kiba and Naruto leaned over and focused on the shiny rectangular business card.

“The Noose?” Kiba questioned as he raised an eyebrow at the dancing pole that was painted in silver at the corner of the card and smirked.

“What the hell is that? A strip club?” The blond asked as he picked up the card and flipped it over to see a cell phone number written prettily on the back in …sparkly purple ink.

He looked up at Shikamaru and a broad toothy grin plastered itself onto his face.

Kiba began to snicker behind a hand.

“You got a phone number from some bimbo stripper, Shika? I thought you liked a challenge and with a dick?” Naruto teased as the Nara reached over casually and picked the card from tanned fingers and walked over to the phone on the wall.

“HE is not a bimbo stripper. He’s actually a client of mine and just so happens to be a vampire who owns a club called ‘The Noose,’” Shikamaru replied as Kiba and Naruto stopped their giggling.

Naruto’s face got somber as Shikamaru began to dial the number on the back of the card.

“Shika, he’s not one of Itachi’s vampires, is he? Cause if he is …” The hint of forewarning and something else lurked in the blonde’s voice as he let the rest of his sentence remain unspoken.

The Nara stopped dialing and turned serious brown eyes to his Rex’s whose was now a flickering with sparks of orange colored fire.

“ …No. But I think we can trust him. There’s just something about him,” Came the oddly quiet reply.

Kiba stood up and walked over to the entrance to the living room and stared at the raven haired vampire.

“Guess now our cover will be blown on both sides, huh?” The Inuzuka remarked as Shikamaru continued to dial.

He pushed the button to put it on speaker so that Naruto and Kiba could hear as well.

Four long rings and then a serene silky-smooth voice slithered through the phone line.

“Yes?”
