Warning boy x boy, threesomes, and incest. Don’t read if you don’t like.
Chapter Three
Itachi staggered and grasped desperately at the door frame. Nothing in his life had prepared him for the mind numbing pain that shot through him. The world seemed to be crashing around him. Sasuke. Would he die carrying his anger at Itachi with him? Would Itachi be forever riddled with the guilt that he had knowingly allowed his brother to leave the apartment garage in hurt and anger?
The world went from color to shades of black and gray. His vision seemed dim and his heart pounded a loud thrum in his ears. For several moments that seemed to last an eternity, Itachi wondered if he would pass out. He was breathing but his mind seemed to be dancing very close to darkness. Something pulled him back from the darkness though his mind was unable to decipher what it was that held it back.
A voice was calling him and he turned to stare into the blue eyes that he had come to love. They were so different from Sasuke’s eyes. Sasuke’s black eyes held mystery while Naruto’s held warmth. Sasuke stood with a perpetual frown while Naruto was all smiles. They were as different as night and day and he wanted them both. He was a greedy bastard that didn’t want to give up either.
Naruto seemed to be saying his name and talking to him but the roar in his ears wouldn’t allow for him to decipher what was being said. The only thing he could hear was his heart and his breathing. In. Out. In. Out. It sounded so loud in his ears that he was amazed it was his own.
“Itachi! What happened, Itachi?” Naruto was starting to panic. He’d never seen his lover like this. He’d never seen despair and pain radiate so powerfully from the normally smug eyes. Turning his eyes to the police officers standing in the doorway, Naruto watched as pity bled into their eyes. They quietly closed the door and left Naruto to beg answers from his silent lover.
Gradually the panic passed and his control was returned, although it was slightly frayed. There was no time to perfect it. He needed to get to the hospital immediately. Not answering Naruto, Itachi grabbed his coat from the rack and shrugged into it.
Pulling his cell phone from his pocket he called his driver and arranged for his car to be ready in five minutes. Though all he wanted to do was run as quickly as possible to Sasuke’s side, Naruto’s panicked features forced him to explain. He could not leave his little caramel completely distraught although Naruto’s understanding was at the bottom of his list. “Sasuke was in an accident. I need to go to the hospital.”
“Sasuke! I’ll go with you.” Naruto reached for his coat.
“No!” snapped Itachi before sighing at the look of shock that broke across Naruto’s face. “I need to do this. I don’t know how bad he is and I don’t want you sitting there for hours.” It was more that Itachi was afraid of what he would say and didn’t want Naruto to hear it. He didn’t trust his control enough to guarantee that he would not say or do something that would give away his secret.
“No. I’m not letting you go alone. You need me. I don’t want you to be alone. I care for Sasuke too. Let me go with you.” Naruto looked pleadingly into the sad eyes of his lover. Itachi had the most breathtaking eyes of anyone. They were like deep dark pools that shined like polished obsidian. His eyes hid so much but at this moment they shone with unshed tears. The sight broke Naruto’s heart and he vowed that this dark man would not leave this apartment alone. He would stay with him every step of the way.
“Naruto…” Itachi began but Naruto held up a hand and crossed his arms across his chest. He would be firm with this. Itachi was in no shape to be alone and if the worst happened, he would need Naruto there to cry on.
“I’m going and that’s final. You need me.” he whispered and grabbed his own coat and shoes. He was ready in a moment’s notice and standing firmly before the door. His legs were spread and his arms were crossed across his chest. The look in his eyes bordered now refusal.
Itachi smiled a little at his young lover. His bright hair was tousled and his eyes shone more serious than he’d ever seen him. He’d always thought Naruto to be a gentle soul but now he wondered just how much was hidden from even his knowledgeable eyes. Nodding slowly, he opened the door and the two made their way towards the waiting car. Neither spoke because neither wanted to break the silence. Itachi was grateful that Naruto seemed to sense his need to be left alone to his thoughts.
The drive seemed long and the more minutes that passed, the more worried Itachi became. The shock was wearing off and despair was becoming thick in his blood. He was unsure if he would be able to keep his mask in place, already he could feel it cracking around the edges. Soon, if he didn’t maintain his control, he would be converted into a crying child that had lost his best friend.
Best friend? It was true that Sasuke had always been treated as if he was inferior to his brother but that had only made him pull closer to Itachi. In the last few years, Itachi had found himself confiding in Sasuke and voicing his troubles to him. He’d always needed Sasuke to ground him but in the last six months he’d barely spoke to his brother more than a handful of sentences on any given occasion. The lust had grown too much for him to risk it and now said lust had forced him into a situation in which he might have to watch his brother die.
He felt Naruto sitting beside him in the vehicle and the warmth that radiated from the blonde offered a little comfort but failed to ease the troubles that continued to spin through his mind. Naruto wouldn’t know the true extent of his love for his brother and would not realize just how much pain he was in. He felt a gentle hand upon his thigh and turned his eyes towards his little caramel.
“It will be alright, Itachi.” Naruto smiled brightly though it did not quite reach his eyes.
Itachi placed his hand over Naruto’s and nodded. He couldn’t return the smile. Unlike Naruto, Itachi rarely smiled and it was not something that could be forced with him. He would be strong though. For his little caramel and Sasuke, he would maintain control as best he could. Taking a deep breath of the oxygen that tried to catch in his lungs as they pulled under the awning at the front of the hospital, Itachi stared at the glass doors that seemed more daunting than the gates of hell.
The elder Uchiha clenched his hands into fists and sat there for several long seconds. He was terrified to enter that hospital. He didn’t want to hear that his brother had died. It was as if he had hundred pound leg weights attached to his limbs and was unable to move. He felt a hand on his cheek and turned to see his beloved caramel gently gazing up at him. “I’ll be with you.”
Closing his eyes as the gentle words washed over him, Itachi swallowed the lump in his throat and opened the door to the Mercedes. Glancing at Naruto, he nodded and walked towards the automatic doors and into the lobby.
Naruto watched his lover with practiced ease. He knew he was nearly insane with panic just from his appearance. Under the florescent lights, Itachi’s pallid skin took on an even more ethereal glow. That most of the blood seemed to have left his skin only added to the stunning visage that he portrayed. Even the pallor of his skin only seemed to add more to his beauty and elegance rather than show his obvious fear.
Black eyes jumped out of his face in startling relief, making him appear demon-like. Naruto couldn’t help but admire the fact that on the surface he appeared relatively calm. Knowing him like he did, he knew that inside was a tremulous storm raging.
Following his lover, they approached the front desk where a young receptionist looked up and promptly began drooling. Itachi had that effect on everyone. His aloof personality only seemed to make men and women desire him even more. He was unattainable and that made him all the more desirable.
“My I help you?” she smiled and batted her eyes. Naruto thought she looked ridiculous but opted to keep quiet for the time being. This wasn’t a time for jokes or humor. Sasuke could be dying as they spoke.
“My name is Itachi Uchiha. My brother, Sasuke Uchiha, was brought in earlier. Where is he?” Itachi’s words held the bored tone that he used when fending off unwanted admirers but there was a tremble in the way he spoke, gone was the perfect mask. Granted the woman was probably too ignorant to see the breaks in the façade but Naruto saw them with crystal clarity.
“One moment sir.” The woman barely took her eyes off of Itachi as she typed a few things into her computer. Scanning the results, she smiled up at Itachi. “Your brother is currently in surgery. I can escort you to the waiting room if you like.”
Itachi’s eyes went cold and he smiled. It wasn’t a real smile, it was a barely polite gesture to the woman but the barely concealed malice made her freeze. She back up a step before catching herself and standing her ground, though it was obvious that she wanted to head for the hills. “Just the directions will be fine.”
“Oh…alright. Take elevator two to the third floor. Ask at the nurse’s station. They will alert the doctor that you are waiting.”
“You didn’t have to be so mean to her.” commented Naruto as the elevator doors closed.
“She was being annoying.” Itachi focused on his reflection in the shiny grey steel. He saw how unusually pale his face looked. His black eyes appeared hollowed out. If he was a vain person, he would have panicked at his appearance. At this moment, however, all he cared about was finding out how Sasuke was doing. Finding out about his brother was the only thing driving him.
The elevator chimed and the two men stepped from the box and onto the cool floor. The sterile smell was nearly nauseating to him and Itachi was forced to take several deep breaths before approaching the nurse’s station. “I’m here about my brother, Sasuke Uchiha.”
The matronly looking nurse glanced at her computer before nodding towards the door across the hall. “You can wait in there. I’ll alert the doctor and he will come see you as soon as the surgery is finished.”
Itachi nodded and entered the room, followed by Naruto. The walls were lined with threadbare chairs and a pitiful excuse for a couch. Taking a seat in one of the many chairs, Itachi turned his eyes towards the silent television that played in the corner of the room. He stared mindlessly at the images that flashed across the screen. His mind was not on the pictures but once again on Sasuke. What was happening? Did the wait mean he was near death?
The clock on the wall ticked away the seconds and the silence seemed to annoy Naruto as he began surfing the five or six available channels for something to take his attention away from situation. Itachi wasn’t talking and there was no point in making him try. There would be time later after they received news about Sasuke for that.
It was nearly two hours before the door opened and a middle aged man wearing hospital issue scrubs stepped in. His face was somewhat haggard and there were bags beneath his eyes as he nodded to Naruto and Itachi. “Are you the family of Sasuke Uchiha?”
Itachi was on his feet in a heartbeat. His eyes desperately searched the face of the doctor for some sign that Sasuke was alright. The tired appearance of the doctor could mean several things and Itachi was getting nervous with how long the doctor waited before explaining about Sasuke.
“Mr. Uchiha suffered a compound fracture of the femur as well as a ruptured spleen and various lacerations over his body. We’ve set his leg but the spleen gave us a bit of trouble. The organ is highly vascular and damage to it usually results in heavy bleeding. That young man is very lucky. We were forced to removed the spleen and give him transfusions. He’ll be in a significant amount of pain when he awakens but he should make a full recovery.” The doctor smiled tiredly as Itachi slumped against Naruto in relief.
“Can I see him?” The words were calm but Itachi was screaming in his mind. He needed to see Sasuke. He needed to affirm that his baby brother was alright. Nearly desperate, Itachi began to shake slightly.
“He’s in recovery at this moment but once he’s moved to the intensive care unit, you can both see him. I must warn you that he will be pretty out of it and probably won’t realize you are there. In a few hours, he should be more aware of what’s going on.” The doctor said before turning to leave the room.
Once alone, Itachi collapsed in a chair and buried his face in his hands. The relief he felt was powerful and nearly knocked him to his knees. He needed to see Sasuke…now! Standing abruptly, Itachi ripped open the door and strode determinedly to the nurse’s station to once again question the matronly nurse. “Has Sasuke Uchiha been moved to the intensive care unit?”
The woman seemed used to it and paid no mind to the lack of Itachi’s manners. She scanned the computer and nodded to the man. “Take that corridor and make a left at the vending machine. There should be a door that says ICU. Press the button and the nurse will buzz you in.”
Itachi thanked the woman and followed her directions to the intensive care unit. Pressing the button, Itachi waited for the nurse to answer. He began to grow annoyed when he wasn’t answered immediately. After several moments, a nurse answered.
“May I help you?”
“I’m here to see Sasuke Uchiha.” Itachi dared her to refuse him admittance and was pleased when he heard he door buzz and was soon standing in the most critical care unit in the hospital. The nurse smiled cheerfully and pointed to room three. Itachi nodded and stepped inside.
Like the rest of the hospital, the room reeked of disinfectant. The walls were pale beige and lacked any sort of pictures. This was an area that did not pretend to be a home away from home.
Lying on a single bed was Sasuke. Itachi paled at the sight of his brother hooked up to various machines. The beeping of the heart monitor was a steady sound that gave comfort. If it was beeping steady then Sasuke’s heart was beating steady. Approaching the bed slowly, he stared down at the pale visage of his brother. His skin was nearly the color of alabaster and the large bruises beneath his closed eyes caused him to appear weak and worn.
“Sasuke.” Itachi whispered the name almost like a prayer. His hand lifted the bare hand of his brother and pressed his lips to the skin. The hand felt far too cold and he pulled back to stare at the tiny blue veins that spread across the limp hand.
He could see the remnants of paint under the nails. Such a sight only testified to Sasuke’s love of art. His brother would one day be acknowledged as a great artist. Even Itachi could see the natural skill that the younger Uchiha possessed. It was only a matter of time before the rest of the world realized what Itachi already knew.
“Sasuke, I’m sorry.” He knew his brother could not hear him but it was fine. He would say them again and again until Sasuke could understand them.
The young man on the bed shifted a little and whimpered in pain that the movement caused. The sooty lashes fluttered before lifting to reveal hazy eyes that were only a shade lighter than his own. Itachi watched as his brother’s pain filled eyes blinked.
“Hurts. Make it stop, ‘tachi.” whimpered Sasuke as a large tear trailed down the pale check.
Itachi’s heart broke into a thousand pieces at the tiny voice of his brother. He knew that part of the reason was that he was unaware of what was going on. He had reverted to a more basic mindset and thought only of his big brother that would make all the bad things disappear.
Standing silently, Itachi stepped to the nurse’s desk and prepared to fight for something to ease his brother’s pain. “Can my brother have something for pain?”
The nursed pulled Sasuke’s chart and skimmed the doctor’s orders before nodding. The nurse prepared a shot of morphine and entered the room where Sasuke was nearly writhing on the bed in pain. She inserted the syringe into the I.V. port and slowly pushed the morphine into Sasuke’s system. His brother immediately seemed to relax and the nurse smiled at Itachi. “I’ll see about asking the doctor for a PCA pump for Sasuke. It will allow him to control the amount of medication he receives but will be regulated so he does not overdose.”
Throughout this, Naruto remained silent in the corner. Something inside him was in agony at seeing Sasuke lying on the bed. The wires and tubes that ran from his body to the various machines seemed daunting and he couldn’t withhold the shiver that went through him. No, it wasn’t the equipment that was frightening, it was the fact that Sasuke was so injured that scared Naruto. He watched Itachi cling to his brother’s hand and was unable to tear his eyes from the sight. It seemed so right. They seemed to fit together so perfectly that Naruto almost felt like an uninvited guest.
For the remainder of the night, Itachi sat at Sasuke’s bedside. Naruto dozed in one of the two chairs provided. Itachi refused to sleep. He was able to go days without if necessary. The thought that Sasuke could wake up and he not be there comfort him kept Itachi awake. The nurse had told him that he would be moved to a private room today once he was awake.
Glancing at Naruto, he saw his lover was snoring away in the chair. Turning his eyes back to Sasuke, Itachi reached up to stroke the pale cheek, careful to avoid the minor scratches. “Sasuke, I’m going to take care of you.”
Leaning down, Itachi brushed his lips along the unmoving ones of his brother. Sighing, he pulled back and sent another glance at Naruto who remained curled up in his chair. Brushing his lips again against his brother’s pale ones, he held them there longer than was appropriate for a brother. “Wake up, Sleeping Beauty.”
Sasuke was dreaming that Itachi was kissing him. He knew it was him because those were the lips he so wanted. They were warm and fluttered over his lips like butterflies. He refused to open his eyes because that would make the dream end and that was unacceptable. Itachi’s voice refused to allow him to remain in the darkness and his eyes fluttered open.
The room was hazy. All he knew was that it wasn’t his room. The light hurt his eyes and clenched the closed to force the light away. Itachi stood and closed the window blinds before returning to Sasuke’s side. Wait…Itachi? Where was he? What had happened?
Sasuke tried to sit up which resulted in pain shooting through his body. Not just any pain, but excruciating pain. There was pain in his chest, abdomen and leg. Even his hand hurt and when he lifted it he saw the I.V. tube that was inserted. Hospital!
Trying to speak, Sasuke found his lips so dry that he could barely form words. Desperate for something to drink, he whispered and prayed that it was loud enough for Itachi to hear. “Water.”
Itachi heard the rough word escape the dry lips and nodded, coming back moments later with a small cup of cool water. The water was like heaven and Sasuke tried to gulp down the wonderful, wonderful liquid but Itachi would only allow him small sips. Fuck Itachi. He was doing this just to be spiteful. At least in Sasuke’s hazy mind that’s what it seemed like.
“Don’t pout. If you drink too fast you will make yourself sick.” Itachi calmly said as hebrought the cup to Sasuke’s lips and forced him to just sip at the refreshment.
His thirst quenched for now, Sasuke collapsed against the bed. He had just woken and he was already so tired that he just wanted to sleep again but he needed to know what had happened. “Itachi…” whimpered Sasuke. He hated how he sounded so pitiful but he was starting to panic.
“It’s alright Sasuke. You were in a car accident but you’re going to be alright.” The words didn’t come from Itachi. Naruto? He was here as well?
Sasuke turned his head until his eyes landed on the smiling blond. He felt a gentle hand stroke through the hair on his scalp and he leaned into the touch. It felt nice and comforting. He had Itachi stroking his hand and Naruto stroking his head. It felt more than nice. It felt as if he had died and gone to heaven.
“You broke your leg and they had to remove your spleen but other than that, you just have some scrapes and bruises.” Itachi said in a quiet voice that soothed over Sasuke like warm silk. Itachi’s voice was like that. It could calm Sasuke in mere moments. “Just rest, I’m going to see about having you moved to a private room.”
Itachi started to stand but was stopped by the desperate hand that gripped the material of his shirt. “Don’t leave me, ‘tachi.”
Itachi took the hand and sat down, once again stroking the skin and tracing the blue veins that stood bright against the pale skin. “I won’t leave you.”
Sasuke relaxed under his brother’s soothing touch and drifted back to sleep. When Itachi was sure that he was asleep, he stood and went to the nurse’s desk to see about having him moved to the floor.
Naruto stared at the pale man lying limp and broken on the bed. He’d seen Itachi kiss him. At first, he didn’t think anything of it. If it was his brother, he’d probably kiss him too. It was the second kiss that bothered Naruto. Shaking his head, Naruto continued to stroke the black spikes. He couldn’t stop the small tingle of jealousy. It was to be expected one would feel a little jealousy but what worried Naruto was that he wasn’t jealous that Itachi was kissing Sasuke. He was jealous that it wasn’t him kissing Sasuke.
Biting his lip, he pushed the feeling towards the back of his mind. He had Itachi, he shouldn’t be jealous if someone other than himself kisses Sasuke. It was a niggling feeling and Naruto didn’t like it. He shouldn’t want to kiss Sasuke. He had Itachi for that.
Stepping away from the bed, he watched as Itachi reentered with a nurse and the doctor. The health care providers talked amongst themselves as Itachi walked to Naruto. “He’s going to be moved to a private room. They are giving him a dose of morphine before to move so he will be out of it for a bit. I’m going to make a few calls. Why don’t you go down to the cafeteria and grab some food, or if you like, I can have you taken home.”
Naruto shook his head. “I’m staying.”
Nodding, Itachi handed his lover a few bills and stepped from the ICU unit to make a few calls. Naruto was left to the grumbling in his stomach. He found he didn’t want to leave Sasuke’s side even though he was doped up and wouldn’t know he was there. Finding the strength to break away, Naruto made his way to the cafeteria.
When he returned, he found Itachi sipping a cup of coffee outside the ICU. “They have moved him to a room. I’ll show you the way.”
Naruto nodded and offered his lover the pastry he had brought him. Itachi smiled and took the sweet. He ran his fingers down Naruto’s scarred cheeks before turning his eyes forward. The rest of the walk was made in silence but it wasn’t the horrible silence of the night before. Now that Itachi was assured that Sasuke would recover, he was a bit more relaxed.
“When will he be allowed to come home with us?” Naruto shot a look to Itachi. It was a given that his brother would be staying with them until the cast came off.
“A few days to make sure that the surgical incision is healing.”
“Are you going to stay with him until he leaves?”
Itachi jerked his eyes to Naruto, looking for any sign that he knew his secret. The crystal clear blue eyes simply looked up at him with genuine curiosity. There was no disgust or anger present. Relaxing a bit, Itachi nodded. “I don’t want him to be alone.”
“I’ll stay too.”
Arching a brow, Itachi stopped walking and looked at his slender lover. “You don’t have to stay with me.”
“I’m not. I’m staying for Sasuke.”
Itachi chuckled a little. “I see. I’ll have you some clean clothes brought as well.”
Naruto smiled but his mind still swirled with his emotions. He knew he loved Itachi. This man had bought him and saved him from the horror of street life. He’d taken him and forced unimaginable pleasure from his body. He’d even said he loved him. Through all this, he couldn’t stop wondering what it would be like to belong to Sasuke. It was his dirty little secret that he kept from Itachi.
Would Sasuke be a kind lover? Would Sasuke take him on dates? What would it be like to sit for hours and watch the raven haired younger brother bring life to canvas? Mentally shaking his head, he couldn’t deny that he was attracted to Sasuke but he was with Itachi. He would just hide his feelings deep. Itachi must never know that sometimes when he masturbated; it wasn’t Itachi that he imagined but Sasuke.
“Naruto? You spaced out.” Itachi looked concerned.
“Wha? No, I’m fine. I was just thinking about something.” Naruto planted a large smile on his face.
Itachi nodded slightly and went back to his own thoughts. When they reached Sasuke’s room, Itachi pulled out his laptop and began working. His fingers flew over the keys. Naruto flipped through the channels on Sasuke’s television, finally settling on some cartoon. He soon grew bored and dug through his pockets until he found the orange pen he kept there. Pulling the cover off of Sasuke’s leg, he began to doodle on the white cast.
“What are you doing?” Naruto glanced up to see Itachi looking at him with curiosity.
“Drawing on Sasuke’s cast.”
“He’s going to kill you when he wakes up.”
“Well, he won’t be able to catch me for six weeks or so. I figure that’s enough time to talk him out of it.” grinned Naruto and went back to his work.
The rest of the day was pretty much the same. Sasuke slept most of it, only waking at random intervals to take a few sips of water and answer the questions of the various nurses that entered. It was nearing ten p.m. when Naruto began nodding off. Not wanting to sleep sitting up again, he went over to Itachi’s chair and forced his lover to stand. Itachi arched a brow as the chair unfolded to reveal a hidden bed.
“Sit down, and I’ll lie down on your lap.” Itachi followed instructions and soon he was reclining on the hideaway bed with Naruto curled up beside him. It was a tight fit and not exactly comfortable but it would do. Naruto purred his contentment and snuggled deeper into Itachi’s side.
Reaching to the bed beside him, Itachi cupped Sasuke’s hand in his own before allowing the exhaustion of the last few days to drag him into oblivion.
Sasuke blinked awake. It still hurt, but his mind wasn’t fuzzy anymore. Scowling at the sight of his cast clad leg; he wondered how long he would have to wear the thing when he noticed something. There were little orange spirals drawn over the entire thing. What the fuck!?
There was only one person he knew of that loved spirals. His brow twitched a bit. There were a million orange spirals decorating the white plaster. The idiot must have spent hours drawing them all. Of all the colors in the rainbow, he had to use orange.
“Naruto.” he grated out through clenched teeth.
A blonde head shot up from where it was sleeping against Itachi’s chest and blinked owlishly at Sasuke. “Sasuke. You’re awake and not all woozy.”
“And you’re a dead man.” growled Sasuke as he pointed to his cast.
“Hehe, you have to catch me first and I don’t think you will be doing much running around in that thing.” chuckled Naruto as he dodged a wild swing by Sasuke’s hand. The jostling woke Itachi and he stretched languidly while watching the antics of the two.
“How are you feeling, Sasuke? Much better if the frown on your face is any indication.” asked Itachi as he stood and began working the kinks out of his body.
“It hurts like a mother fucker and to make it worse, that idiot drew orange shit all over my cast.” scowled Sasuke before glaring at Naruto who simply stuck out his tongue.
“I’ll see about your medicine. If everything goes well, you should go home tomorrow or the next day. Try not to kill each other while I’m out.” smiled Itachi before exiting the room.
Left alone, the two simple stared at each other. Naruto started making weird faces in Sasuke’s direction. Sasuke’s scowl deepened and he growled in Naruto’s direction. “What are you, like five?”
“On a good day.” chuckled Naruto as he settled cautiously beside the younger Uchiha, he was prepared to bolt if Sasuke tossed a bed pan or something his way.
“Hn.” grunted Sasuke before he collapsed against the bed. He felt so fucking weak. Had the accident been that bad? He couldn’t remember anything other than fear as his breaks failed and he plowed straight forward into ongoing traffic. “Naruto…was anyone hurt. I mean, other than me?”
Naruto glanced up at the uncertainty in Sasuke eyes and shook his head. “Not that I’m aware of. I can have Itachi find out.”
“My breaks wouldn’t work. I couldn’t stop. That’s the last thing I remember before waking up in the hospital.” Sasuke stared at his hands. “What if I killed someone? Will I go to jail?”
“You didn’t kill anyone. Itachi would have known by now if you had. You know him, he’s always prepared like the marines or something.” smiled Naruto.
“It’s the boy scouts, you idiot.” Sasuke smiled. Naruto had probably said that on purpose to cheer him up. The ball of sunshine probably thought he was emo enough naturally and was probably afraid of him developing into super emo Sasuke. The scowl was back. What an idiot.
“Well whatever. He would know.” Naruto waved his hand dismissively and looked up as said ‘boy scout’ entered the room followed by the nurse.
The woman couldn’t believe her luck at seeing three handsome men in one room. Granted, she was happily married with three children but she wasn’t dead. Eye candy was eye candy.
“Good morning, Mr. Uchiha. Here is something for your pain. On a scale of 0 to 10, what would you say your pain is at?” the nurse asked as she filled a cup with water.
“About a five.” muttered Sasuke as he took the pill and the medicine.
“That’s good. P.T. will probably be in shortly to get you up and moving.”
“Up? I have a giant cast on my leg and they expect me to walk?” Sasuke stared incredulously at the woman and she chuckled.
“They will probably show you how to use crutches and make sure you can move around on them.” she smiled as she checked the incision. It was healing nicely. Regretfully, she smiled and left the room to go check on the remainder of her patients.
A knock sounded on the door and two suit wearing men with police badges attached to their coats entered the room. Sasuke nearly went into a panic and Naruto lunged for the younger Uchiha. He stroked the tussled hair and murmured lowly to him. “They aren’t going to arrest you. Your brakes gave out. Don’t panic.”
Itachi paused as he saw the panicked look in Sasuke’s eyes. Glaring at the intruders, he stood and approached the two. “Unless this is important, I suggest you leave. My brother was severely injured and probably won’t be able to tell you what happened.”
“Forgive us, Mr. Uchiha, but you might want to hear this. We investigated the car your brother was driving and it appears that the brake lines were cut.”
~To be continued.
Chapter Three

“Sasuke! I’ll go with you.” Naruto reached for his coat.
“No!” snapped Itachi before sighing at the look of shock that broke across Naruto’s face. “I need to do this.
