Chapter: Shino & Hinata
He woke from sleep on his bed and slowly rose to a sitting position the blanket he had pulled up to his shoulders dropping into his lap revealing a toned chest and bare arms with small holes along the side of them. Violet eyes scanned the room as unease sank into his bones his bugs starting to buzz with concern. Reaching out to his bedside table he picked up his small sunglasses and placed them on the bridge of his nose making sure to tuck them behind his ears.
His feet slid to the floor and he rose to stand in the barren room clad only in black boxer briefs before going over to his desk chair plucking his pants he had strung over he back. Sliding them on quietly as the uneasy feeling slowly morphed into a feeling of doom. Walking over to his dresser he grabbed a green tank the same color of his long jacket the appropriate holes to allow the flow of insects in and out of the cavities in his back.
Pulling it up over his head and tucking it into his pants he grabbed his coat on the back of his door. Finishing the last button he cautiously opened his door and gagged as the smell of death reaching his nose. Bringing his arm up to his nose to cover it he sent a few of his bugs to investigate, to make sure that the killer was no longer in the house. They came shortly after explaining that they had found his mother in the kitchen, but something was very off.
Pulling the door closed behind him he carefully made his way through the house making sure not to step in blood, or on bodies that were flung across the floor. Pushing the door open that led into the kitchen he had to swallow around a lump in his throat. His mother, a knife in hand, was cutting into vegetables while next to her laid a dead body half ripped apart. Blood dripped from the edge of her kimono onto the floor where her feet stood in a puddle of blood.
She slowly turned with a smile on her face the plate clasped carefully in her grasp filled with bloody vegetables.
“Oh Shino awake already? Why don’t you sit down and have lunch with us today?” She said sounding cheerful as always.
Shino felt a painful tug in his chest, she had gone crazy. His sweet soft spoken mother was no longer here with him. His bugs hummed their condolences to him, they too had liked her. He swallowed the next lump in his throat as he tried to speak to her. He knew he should kill her, but he just couldn’t do it.
“I-I can’t mother.”
“Oh? Why not?” She asked placing the plate on the table drying her hands on her bloody apron.
“Training, Lady Hokage wished me to train a new recruit.” He answered her.
She sighed and sat down her elbow resting on a body part the squished, “Well that’s to bad. If you see your father tell him to be home in time for dinner? He’s been late so far this week.”
“Of coarse Mother.” he replied in a pained voice.
Slowly he turned away closing his eyes behind his glasses in pain. It was apparent that Madara had implemented his ultimate jutsu, much sooner than anticipated.
“I love you Shino, be safe.” his mother whispered.
It was almost to painful to bare, the loving mother persona that was his mom with the images of blood and gore scattered around the house. His bugs whispered to him that he should put her to rest and he nodded. He felt the small legs scatter down his arms and then fingers, felt them lift off and head in her direction. Just as the bugs landed on her he turned back to her.
“Mom, I love you too.” he whispered.
She smiled and slowly her eyes closed as the poison sunk into her veins. He closed his eyes once more and turned leaving the room. It was better this way he knew, but it did not stop the pain from pulsing threw his veins. Side stepping blood and bodies he made it to the door and noted that indeed his father’s shoes were not present. He frowned behind the collar of his coat, that was not a good sign.
Walking out to the small court yard he looked around and saw half eaten bodies, his insects buzzed in discontent. Some of there own had done this travesty. Walking closer to a body and inspecting it he noticed the small purple circles common when a poisonous bug struck. Each signature was different for separate swarms and his frown deepened as these patterns belonged to his father.
Careful not to look up at the moon, as it seemed that they could effect the family he made his way out of the compound sending out insects to scope out the area in front of him. He had to make it to the Hyuuga compound, it was closest. He turned back to what used to be his home and sent bugs back into it to turn on gas stoves and loosen valves. Shino would not leave his home disgraced like it was.
As he ran in the direction of Hinata’s home an explosion from behind him rocked the world momentarily. He didn’t bother looking back to see his once sanctuary burning to the ground, it was painful enough knowing it was happening. His bugs agreed with his assessment of the situation, but they reminded him that it had needed to be done.
This night was only the beginning and he feared what was to come.

Hinata watched in horror as those around her fell to the ground, their eyes rolling to the back of their heads. She rushed over to her fathers side checking his pulse and found none. Using her blood line limit she checked for signs of chakra life but also found none. Looking around at all other bodies she realized than some did indeed still have a heart beat and chakra in them but it was being suppressed.
She wasn’t really understanding what was going on, but she knew it had to do with the jutsu. He looked up at the moon, and wondered why when they had opened she was not effected. Why was she able to even look at it now and felt nothing. She frowned, but stood with determination. Maybe there were survivors outside these walls.
Making her way to the outer wall she paused as the thought of Neji drifted through her mind. Was he safe? Had he been effected like the rest of the family? Then what about others who had been out on missions? What of Neji’s team even?
She felt fear grip her and she clasped her hands close to her heart. What if she was the only one? The last Hyuuga… Maybe this was how Sasuke had felt. Hinata still had trouble wrapping her mind around the fact that Sasuke was he was currently. It didn’t mesh well with the young boy she had grown up around. Certainly he was aloof and sometimes cruel in nature, but he was also kind hearted a scared child really.
Shaking herself out of her thoughts she slowly pushed the gate open to peek outside.

Coming to a stop right in front of the Hyuuga compound his heart found relief when Hinata emerged. Thank the gods she was safe, but then his mind flashed to his mother and his chest constricted. What if she was like his mother had been? He knew if it were true he would not be able to handle it.
Hinata’s eyes scanned the clearing and upon seeing Shino standing there she ran towards him throwing her arms about his neck in a hug. She felt the man tense under her blushing she pulled away form him.
“Thank god you’re here.” she said relieved.
“The others?”
“They aren’t moving…” she answered.
“No body?”
She shook her head in the negative.
“Same where I just came from.” Shino lied he couldn’t bare the thought of telling her.
Hinata had always liked his mother and vise versa. When ever the team met at his home for good ol’ times his mother would make tea and then sit and chat with Hinata at the kitchen table. Seeing Hinata start to shake he encircled her in his arms and hugged her close. He wasn’t one for doing such things, but for her he would.
“I’m scared Shino, what’s happening to everyone?”
“The Moon Eyes, they’re Uchiha eyes.”
“Why aren’t we effected then?”
“I don’t know.” He answered not mentioning he had yet to look and test the theory.
A branch cracked behind them and they both whirled around to see Kiba emerge from the trees. The dog nin rubbed at his eyes with his arm, staggered a little, then stopped. Shino cautiously walked towards him, unsure of what to expect, and placed a hand on the nin’s shoulder. His bugs couldn’t tell any difference. He needed to be sure though.
“Kiba?”
A groan was his reply, slowly he let his hand drop as he turned away from the man and walked back towards Hinata. If his bugs felt it was normal then he supposed he could let it go. The strange feeling of unease was probably the situation all together.
“Well it looks like we three are lu-”
Kiba suddenly attacked, his body spinning like a tornado, colliding into Shino’s back. The bug nin went flying through the air and landed a few feet away, his back severely wounded.
“Shino!” Hinata called out to the man and started to run towards him sliding to a stop as Kiba came in between them.
Hinata’s eyes widened in fear as Kiba licked his lips and came towards her his hand reaching out for her. She wasn’t sure what to think, didn’t understand what was going on. She looked over at Shino and the blood around him.
“Ki-Kiba?” She said starting to cry.
A sick smile spread across his face his fangs bared, behind him Shino tried to rise from the ground but fell back down again. Was this Kiba anymore? Her body started to shake with fear. Was she to kill one of her teammates?
“Ki-Kiba… please….” She pleaded thick tears rolling down her cheeks. “Wha-what’s wrong with you?”
Leaping forward at her his hand caught hold of her coat, Hinata screamed in terror as she fell to the ground his body weight falling on top of her knocking the wind out of lungs. Quickly her coat was ripped from her. A clawed finger catching the front of her shirt as well shredding the front of it. Hinata tried and failed to push chakra into her hands to use gentle fist. The glowing red eyes had effected and she sobbed.
“Kiba stop please!” she cried out when her breath returned to her.
A clawed hand wrapped around her throat, and Hinata freely sobbed as her pants were ripped from her legs with his other one. Her body shook in fear, her mind unable to comprehend that the thing above her was Kiba. Sweet caring Kiba, her friend and team mate. Fun loving Kiba, this monster just couldn’t be him, this just simply couldn’t be happening.
“Stop…” she said miserably glancing back over to Shino who was to wounded, blood clearly staining his clothes, to do anything.
She heard pants unzip and she struggled only to have the hand tighten around her throat choking her. Hinata closed her eyes not wanting to see what was about to happen. She heard a growl before she felt a gust of wind fly over her, the sound of bones breaking, and then the weight of the man above her was no more.
Her eyes snapped open to see Akamaru standing between her and Kiba who was slowly rising back up from the ground. His right arm was snapped in half bleeding, and she could tell he was having trouble breathing. This couldn’t be happening, her entire world was being ripped right from her grasp. She looked to Akamaru who seemed very determined to do what ever it took.
Akamaru growled low in his throat, lowering his head to the ground his ears bent back, legs spread apart ready to jump, and his teeth bared. Before she could do or say anything they flew at each other, Akamaru’s jaws sinking into Kiba’s throat blood spilling out over his mouth. The large white dog landed and dropped the body to the ground panting heavily. Blood quickly pooled around Kiba’s body from the throat wound as his heart continued to pump blood.
Hinata’s body slowly started to shake until finally a scream ripped from her throat. “KIBA!!!!”
Shino turned his head to see Akamaru standing over, the now dead, Kiba. Dark red blood dripping from the dog's muzzle. His vision started to blur as he looked to Hinata reaching a hand out towards her, then the bug nin passed out from the pain and his own blood loss.
