Note: The below chapter is a deleted scene from Chapter 22. This scene would have occurred during the fight Naruto vs. Genma for the final trial.

Chapter 22
Traitor: Death Match

... "They’ll kill me if I don’t kill you. If I win, they said they’d let me go.”

Would they really have? My parasite laughs. Poor regen, they’d probably kill him anyway.

Tsunade would keep her word. I disagree.

I don’t think its Tsunade that told him that false promise.

“I wish I didn’t have to fight you.” I shout back to him, and in a mutter. “This isn’t right.”

He nods, heard me regardless. “I know,” he agrees, green eyes drawn in sad expression, “So I’m sorry.”

Then he’s lurched forward. Feet treading dirt towards me – I step back. My arm lashes out toward his throat – but he’s not there. Behind!

I twist dashing to the side and away. Claws just barely graze the back of my neck – the skin burns at the shreds torn up – my blood not yet shed.

He’s coming again. I stagger forward a step, lurching to the side – he’s closer. But then to dart away again – from behind. He’s already tried that. My fingers close tight around the attacking arm.

He rears back – skin ripping up his arm – my nails holding tight. His teeth grit – but he’s pulling harder – flesh begins to tear. I hate to do this – but this has to end fast.

A quick harsh yank. I feel the loose an give – the appengade, muscle and bone cracking, wrenched away from his shoulder. He howls and staggers back – a spurt of red bursts forth.

I dart forward again – but his hand connects to my shoulder – his body twisting up above me – jetting away the opposite direction. I meant to incapacitate this slippery git! Damn he’s still mobile!!

But it gets better… his shoulder is starting to sprout throbbing silky bloody squirming bubbling flesh. The white of bone piercing the membrane, pink and red threads of flesh worming down the white and connecting.

Skin seals over the silky covering – like the insides of a slug being ripped open and the halves and sixth cuts keep wriggling with a life of their own.

Looks like I’ll have to bury him.

I curse to myself lurching forward – what the hell is this guy – half lizard? Damn regenerate!

He leaps away, running across the side of the arena, and I have no choice for now but to pursue – but he’s lashing back out around – trying to get at my back. Damn it!

Clawed fingers seizing into my back – nails scraping against my spine as the skin rips up. I snarl and press my weight backward towards him – I feel him fall off balance.

Gotta be quick!

I whirl around my fist catching him in the throat choking him – buying enough time to twist his arms behind him – dropping him into the dust. My foot presses down hard into the center of his back.

His body arches and comes away from the earth – for a moment I’m afraid he’s powerful enough to shove me off – but I press him down. He squirms and writhes, legs lashing out from behind. My free foot crushes into his ankles – two quick jabs.

His body still twists and worms – and I have to hold him down. This wasn’t exactly a fair fight – cries from the stands call for me to end him. He hisses and worms harder – but he’s not getting free like this.

Eventually he stops and I feel his muscles fall lax under my foot. “Kill me.” he whispers cursing under his breath, eyes closing tight for the killing blow. A whispy scent trickles out and I can feel his body shake slightly – fear. He doesn’t want to die.

But there’s nothing left.

Sick.

“I refuse.” ...

Reason for Deletion:

This scene would have been a fun way to introduce the fact that regens, Regenerate vampires, can regenerate body parts.

Unfortunately this scene would not have fit with Naruto’s current mind set at that point. Naruto already acknowledges the difference in power, and it makes more sense in the current scene of Chapter 22 where he’d rather not even have to touch/attack the guy at all.

If I ever rewrite this story this is a scene I would probably still leave out.
