(A/N: And now the new chronicals begin! Thanks for the help with the Hokage/Yukikage corrections, I have sucessfully done all I can to fix that and make sure it never happens for the rest of the story! Enjoy the beginning of "The Yukigakure Chronicals: Her Snow-Covered Past", Love always, Sho-Chan)

The warmth upon her face was pleasurable by far. Slowly, she opened her eyes, noticing she was staring directly out of the window where the sunlight was gently pouring in. It was morning? So soon...? She closed her eyes, trying to recall what had happened last night. She was facing Tsunade when...Her eyes flew open and she sat up, grabbing her arm and panting heavily.

"I...I still have my arm?"

She looked around, noticing she was in a hospital room, laying in a comfortable hospital bed. Last night was such a blur...How did she manage to get from battling to Tsunade to lying her in the hospital? She saw the mirror across from the bed and stood up, finding her body felt a lot lighter for some reason. Dressed only in a white hospital kimono, she walked over to the mirror and stared intensely at her arm.

"Why...? Why do I still have my arm...?"

Hinata winced at the memory of Tsunade mercilessly severing her arm, but after that...She didn't remember a thing. She stared in the mirror for a moment before sighing. A knock on the door and the entrance of Kurenai instantly brightened her up.

"Kurenai-Sensei!"

"How are you feeling?"

"Fine, thank you." Hinata replied with a smile.

"Well, are you feeling well enough to see Tsunade?"

Hinata looked at Kurenai for a moment. She'd take the higher road and guess that she'd loss. The fact that she was in the hospital was more than an indication. Hinata nodded with a small sigh and walked with Kurenai.

"What happened to me last night? I feel so strange..."

"Don't worry, you beat Tsunade." Kurenai smiled.

Hinata froze, staring at her sensei in pure disbelief.

"Wh...what?!"

"Yep. You really handed it to her. I'll let her explain everything though." Kurenai smiled, knocking on Tsunade's office door. When they were permitted to enter, Hinata walked in, looking at Tsunade who was going over some paperwork.

"Ah, Hinata..." Tsunade began.

"I'M SO SORRY!" she bowed quickly.

Tsunade looked at her with a small smile.

"Now, now, is that the way to act as a Gonnin?"

Hinata raised her head and looked at Tsunade, feeling a little faint.

"G...Gonnin...? Are you saying that the last...G...Gonnin is...?"

Tsunade placed a piece of paper on her desk and pushed it towards Hinata.

"Starting as of twelve-hundred-hours last night, you were certified as an official Gonnin."

Hinata slowly, hesitantly looked at the paper, while Kurenai read over her shoulder.

"By the village of Konohakagure, effective immediately, Hyuuga Hinata is to take the place of Uzamaki Naruto as squad leader and as the final shinobi chosen for the Elite Gonnin."

Kurenai pushed her hand into Hinata's back when she felt the girl begin to wobble a little bit.

"Tsunade-Sama...I...I don't feel like I deserve such an honor...! Surely Sakura-San would be more certified!"

"Sakura-Chan will be accompaning you as well as Temari of Sunagakure and TenTen. We received confirmation from Suna by word of Kazekage Gaara that Temari is being allowed to participate in the retrieval of the rest of our Gonnin squad. I am sending Sakura because she is by far the strongest Medical-Nin. Also effective immediately,"

Tsunade steeled herself for what she was about to say.

"You are to return to Yukigakure as Godaime Yukikage.."

Hinata's eyes rolled to the back of her head before falling backwards. Tsunade sighed, groaning as she buried her head in her folded arms on her desk.

"I KNEW she was going to do that."

Kurenai chuckled a little and fanned her, waiting for her to come to. Jiraiya entered moments later, thrusting something under her nose. Hinata's eyes flew open and she panicked, looking around.

"Wh...what happened?!"

"HINATA." Tsunade said.

"Ah! Yes!" Hinata asked, giving Tsunade her full attention.

Tsunade sighed once more.

"I need you to understand something...You are Hokage material. But, since you have refused my position when I step down, I suppose it'd be more suiting to place you in Yukigakure, seeing how your roots began there."

"My...roots?" Hinata asked, getting increasingly nervous.

"I will leave you to discover the answers on your own, however, I do want you to know this: Just as Gaara of the desert, just as Naruto Uzamaki...You possess a gaurdian spirit inside of you."

Hinata swallowed nervously, but knowing shook her head.

"You're...you're talking about Byakko, aren't you? The great white tiger of the north?"

Tsunade, Kurenai and Jiraiya were surprised Hinata was aware of it. Jiraiya folded his arms over his chest and chuckled.

"How'd you figure it out?"

Hinata nervously played with her hair, a habit she'd adapted in place of her nervous finger twiddling.

"I...I just knew...Koishubi...I knew that my pet was really my guardian, but he disappeared after Hikaru was born. I think it was because there was another human being inside of me..."

Hinata swallowed nervously and sighed.

"Once Hikaru was born, I had a dream...Koishubi...no...Byakko of the North came to me in a dream and asked if I accepted him. I was so afraid, but at the same time...I knew Byakko wanted to protect me and only me. I only became away of Byakko's presence last night."

"You remembered what happened?" Tsunade asked.

Hinata shaked her head.

"No, I can just sort of feel it...I remembered though, my arm had gotten cut off..."

Jiraiya watched as the girl grabbed her left arm as if confirming it's attachment to her body. Jiraiya kneeled in front of the girl, placing his hands on her shoulders.

"Byakko's signature power includes bodily regeneration and an ability to control wind, snow and ice. Even in the harshest conditions, Byakko could comfortably survive which is why for a while, Byakko was guardian of Yukigakure."

"What happened...? If Byakko was guardian THERE, why come here?" Kurenai asked.

Tsunade sighed, almost as if she were ashamed.

"I...didn't check out all of the facts about Yukigure. That village was destroyed almost sixteen years ago, around the same time YOU were born, Hinata-Chan."

"SO YOU SENT THEM ON A SUICIDE MISSION?!" a voice raged.

Sakura stood in the doorway, her fists clenching by her side. She walked in, standing beside Hinata.

"I cannot believe you sent them to an abandoned village! How could you!?"

"I thought my source was reliable, Sakura." Tsunade replied in irritation.

"Ladies, let's relax for now." Jiriaya interjected.

He sighed, looking at Hinata who was slowly trying to process all of the information.

"But why me? Why not someone who had a direct connection with the current Yukikage at Yukigure?"

Everyone grew silent, indicating Hinata really didn't know of her heritage.

"Byakko destroyed the village as a punishment, just as Shukaku tried to destroy Suna and Kyuubi tried to destroy Konoha. Byakko is an exception, Hinata," Jiriaya said, taking her hands.

Hinata blushed, looking at Jiriaiya who was being very sincere.

"Byakko promised never to harm souls not responsible for betraying his trust. Byakko chose YOU for two reasons: Because you are a kunochi who is pure of heart and because...you are one of the remaining residents of Yukigakure."

"M...me...? But...I've lived in Konoha the entire time! I was born here!" Hinata said standing quickly.

Sakura sighed a little and shook her head.

"I...I don't know the entire story, but...you weren't born in Konohagakure, you were born in the north."

"But...! That doesn't make any sense...!" Hinata said, almost as if she panic-stricken.

Jiriaya steadied her with a sigh and shook his head.

"Go to Yukigure. Find the answers you seek because we have no right to tell you what you should learn for yourself."

Hinata looked at the ground, trying to process everything. Tsunade stood up and sighed, holding a small, brown book in her hand.

"Hinata...This is your mother's diary."

Hinata's eyes widened and she quickly looked up. The book was old and some of the pages looked worn.

"My...mother's diary...?"

Tsunade flipped through the first few pages and sighed, reading:

"March 1st, I have just learned I was pregnant by Hiashi Hyuuga, though, I do in fact pray it is his child.

There is one other possible canidate for the father of my child, but has been so long since we were together.

The last time I saw Minato-Kun was in the fall and according to doctor, I am only two months along.

I am certain this child is not Minato's, but the man my parents promised me to in my childhood, Hiashi Hyuuga.

That said, I will return to Konohagakure to have the child.

I have such fond memories of Konoha and used to play there often as a child in the summer.

It is also Minato's home as well.

I am very torn by this...I wish the child to be Minato's, but in my heart, I know it is Hiashi's.

I curse that heated night where that charming Hyuuga man visited me...

But, I am paying for it now,

Yet, I know Hiashi will be happy to have a child.

However...the birth of this child does not mean I will give up my love for Minato-Kun.

Even...if he has a wife of his own now.

I know Minato feels the same way, but at the same time, I feel sorry for his current wife...

I hear she is a real beauty and she too his pregnant, though, further along than myself.

I hope I have a girl...I heard Minato's wife is having a son.

That way, our children could play together and become best friends."

Tsunade closed the diary as tears began cascading down her face. Sakura wiped away a few of Hinata's tears as she whimpered,

"B...but what was my mother doing in Yukigakure...? I don't understand..."

Tsunade closed the diary and said,

"If you go to Yukigakure, you will not need what is in this diary. I will keep it. This will be your promise me that you will return WITH the rest of your fellow Gonnin."

Tsunade placed the book in her desk and locked it.

"Well, Hinata Hyuuga? Do you accept the mission, your new ranking position? Are you willing to accept the fact that you have much to learn about yourself?"

Hinata looked at the ground for a moment, clenching her fists. She was only, BARELY, seventeen. Why throw all of this at her now? She didn't even know she had potential to be a Hokage, much less a Gonnin. Still, everyone was counting on her. She tried not lying to herself...While she was concerned about her new teammates, she put learning about her history first. What else had the Hyuuga family hidden from her?

"I accept. When do we leave?"

"Noon. I suggest you prepare yourselves well. You are to assemble here in three hours, is that understood, both Sakura and Squad Leader Hyuuga?"

"Uzamaki." she said, her head lowered.

"Excuse me?" Tsunade asked, her eyebrow raising.

Hinata raised her head, staring Tsunade in the eye.

"I discarded the Hyuuga name a long time ago. I will not go by the Hyuuga name, even when being addressed from you, Godaime-Sama."

Jiraiya could only smirk a little. This girl was an exact copy of Shioriko. Tsunade could only chuckle and nod.

"Very well, Captain Uzamaki."

Everyone ignored the small blush on Hinata's face and Tsunade excused both Sakura and Hinata. Kurenai chuckled a little and sighed.

"Well, someone has definitely grown up."

"A little too much for me. I liked it better when she was the quiet shy girl." Tsunade sighed, sitting back in her chair.

Jiraiya looked at Tsunade in question.

"Do you really think it was fair of you to say that fake diary was the real thing?"

"What? It's a fake?!" Kurenai asked.

Tsunade nodded with a slight smirk.

"Yep. The real diary is hidden in Yukigakure somewhere. My guess would probably be in Shioriko's old drawer in her office."

"Well, well...Tsunade, you never cease to amaze me." Kurenai smirked at her oldest friend.

"What can I say? You have to have brains to be Hokage."

"Or atleast some form of common sense..." Jiraiya coughed.

"HEY!"

While the three continued to talk, Hinata was enroute to Ino's shop where Hikaru was. Ino greeted her happily with Hikaru in hand and invited Hinata to sit and drink some tea for a while. Hinata graciously accepted the invitation and moments later, they were sitting in the back of the flower shop while Chouji maintained the front. Ino didn't mind when Hinata awoke her sleeping son for the breastmilk she'd been seldom able to provide for her growing baby. It was almost like the growing process had finally slowed down, thank god, Hinata thought. While Hikaru ate, Ino smiled a little.

"So...are you scared, Hinata-Chan?"

Hinata nodded with a small sigh.

"Yes, very much so. I feel like such a bad wife and mother leaving her husband and son behind."

Ino took a small sip of her tea and shook her head, causing her long, blonde hair to sway back and forth.

"Don't be so hard on yourself. You can't help that the village elders and Tsunade picked you as Gonnin. Besides, Hikaru will very safe with us. He's a happy baby and it doesn't take much to keep him entertained."

Hinata giggled a little, pulling down her shirt when Hikaru was finished nursing. The baby settled into her arms and began playing with the pendant dangling from her neck, of which he saw as something to put in his mouth. Hinata sighed a little.

"I guess I just feel like it's all happening so fast, Ino-San...I don't know what to do."

Hinata blushed a little when Ino rested her hand atop of hers.

"Come back safe. That is all I ask of you, Hinata-Chan. I'll let you know something...Whatever you may learn about your history or past or whatever...and wether or not you take on the position of Yukikage for Yukigakure is entirely up to you. But, just know, Konoha is your home and it won't change how we look at you...To us, you are still, cute, sweet innocent Hinata-Chan."

Hinata could only smile, a little embarrassed when tears began to run the course of her cheeks. She spent a little more time with Hikaru and Ino, who, even went so far as to promise to give Hikaru nectar from a special flower that closely resembled breastmilk and had all of the necessary nutrients. When Hinata, which much confusion, asked why Ino developed such a flower, Ino chuckled, striking a sexy pose.

"I'm not gonna ruins these perfects boobs of mine just because some little brat wants a drink! Nope! No breastfeeding for me when I have kids!"

Both Hinata and Chouji stared at her with sweatdrops. An hour later, Hinata, fully packed, headed towards Tsunade's. Everyone was whispering excitedly about her, even as she passed by the Hyuuga home.

"ONEECHAN!" a voice called out.

Hinata turned around and much to her surprise, saw Hanabi coming down the steps of the main Hyuuga branch home.

"Hanabi-Chan..."

Time seemed to stand still...Hanabi and Hinata hadn't talked in almost forever, but Hinata noticed the changes that were becoming of her sister. She had shorter hair, cut to her shoulders and wore a purple, Hyuuga robe.

"I heard they picked you for the final Gonnin."

"Word travels fast, I suppose." Hinata tried to smile.

"You'd better come back safe, Oneesan. I know father would rather not see you return at all, but still...Can you blame him after the way you shamed the Hyuuga clan?"

Hinata sighed a little, trying not to let her younger-by-two-years sister get to her.

"I would have rather shamed the clan than live in the cage father calls a family. If you'll excuse me, Hanabi, I have to get ready to leave."

Hinata turned to leave, her eyes widening when Hanabi embraced her from behind. In a voice Hinata could only hear, she whispered,

"I plan on leaving the Hyuuga clan as well! I want to travel and be free too. I don't want to stay here, especially after what they did to you and Hikaru-Chan."

Hinata's eyes softened and tried not to cry, but she found tears rolling down her cheeks as well. She turned around to embrace her younger sister with a small sigh.

"You're the heir now. I cannot associate myself with the Hyuuga clan any longer...But Hanabi..."

"I don't! I associate myself the Inazuka clan...! Well...Kiba-Kun atleast..." she blushed.

Hinata looked at Hanabi in surprise. Hanabi played with her fingers nervously and whispered,

"I...I love Kiba-Kun...He's so nice and sweet...At first, we were only training partners, but then...I...started g...getting feelings for him. May I date him, Oneechan? I wanna marry Kiba-Kun someday...then, he'd be your brother-in-law! You two get along so well!"

Oddly enough, Hinata almost saw herself in Hanabi's place as the younger Hyuuga blushed and played with her fingers. Hinata could only smile at Hanabi, but threatened Kiba bodily harm when she returned from her mission.

"I trust Kiba to take good care of you. He is a good and strong shinobi and really loyal, so, yes...I would love it if you and Kiba-Kun were to get closer."

Hanabi happily hugged her sister. When she pulled away, Hinata also saw a worried look on her sister's face.

"What's wrong?"

"I...I also heard...that your...your mom was a Yukikage...is that true?"

Hinata's eyes widened. That couldn't have been true, but at the same time...Hinata could only smile with a sigh.

"I guess I'll find out."

"If you become Yukikage of Yukigakure, will you let me and Kiba live there? I don't mind the cold!"

Hinata's eyes widened. WHERE in the heck was she getting all of this information?

"Hanabi, who has been telling you all of this?"

"Everyone knows it, Oneechan! You must be so happy!"

Hinata put her hands on Hanabi's shoulders and looked her dead in the eye.

"Does father know about this?"

Hanabi shook her head.

"No, I know for a fact he doesn't."

Hinata let out a sigh of relief but if everyone knew like Hanabi had stated, she was on a time-crunch. Hinata smiled and nodded.

"I have to go now, okay, Hanabi?"

"Okay, oneechan. When you come back to Konoha me and Kiba will be waiting!"

Almost as if she'd mentally summoned him, Kiba, on the back of Akamaru came trotting up to them, obviously very surprised to see Hinata.

"Yo, Hinata-Chan! Congrats on the promotion!" he grinned.

"Congrats to you as well." Hinata giggled.

"Huh...?" Kiba asked, scratching his head.

Hinata shook her head, smiling at Hanabi who returned her smile.

"Well, I have to go. Hanabi, if you want to see Hikaru, he's staying with Ino Yamanaka, okay?"

"Oh, the blonde who thinks she's Konoha's gift to men?" she asked innocently.

Hinata and Kiba chuckled nervously, Hinata looking at Kiba who she obviously heard it from.

"Well, regardless, Hikaru is with her and Chouji."

"I'll help look after Hikaru too, Hinata-Chan!" Kiba nodded with his usual grin.

Hinata nodded and headed towards Tsunade's, but before she got out of earshot of Kiba and Hanabi, she giggled.

"Best take care of Hanabi, too!"

Kiba blushed from ear-to-ear as did Hanabi. They looked at one another before looking away with blushes. Kiba swallowed nervously, putting his arm around Hanabi's shoulders before waving to Hinata.

"You can count on that!"

Hinata turned to head en route to Tsunade's assuming Kiba's frantic calling of Hanabi's name was because she'd fainted from the embarassment. Hinata giggled to herself and continued on, but became increasingly nervous. All of these hidden secrets and new findings made her more anxious to get to the Village Hidden In The Snow. She arrived at Tsunade's twenty minutes before they were supposed to leave, surprised to see all of her friends there before she. Tsunade looked at her and nodded.

"Well, now that everyone has arrived, I want to brief you on a few things,"

Tsunade pulled out a few stray papers and sighed.

"Yukigakure is relitively easy place to reach, depending on weather conditions. Yukigakure was, in fact, destroyed almost sixteen years ago by their guardian diety, Byakko. Furthermore, Byakko has taken residence in Hinata's body."

The girls looked at Hinata who released somewhat of a sigh.

"Temari, I understand you have experience with this type of thing, however, know that unlike Kyuubi and Shukaku, Byakko is working in harmony with Hinata. Byakko is your ally."

The girls seemed relieved and Tsunade continued reading.

"Your mission, ladies, is to retrieve Sasuke Uchiha, Shikamaru Nara and Neji Hyuuga. That is top priorities. Once you have safely secured them, return to Konoha at once. This applies to Temari and Sakura. TenTen, you are to stay with Hinata in Yukigakure if she says she wants to stay for her own personal reasons. Hinata, you are open to object TenTen staying and returning to Konoha with the retrieved Gonnin and the kunochi."

Hinata nodded and the girls nodded as well.

"That is all, ladies. Head to the lockerroom to change into Special Ops uniforms supplied for you and then, return to me."

They all agreed and headed to the lockerroom. Hinata sighed as she undressed, looking at her stomach...Hard to believe that almost three weeks ago she was pregnant. She opened the locker with her name on it and saw her uniform hanging there, created to match the other girls', however, the girls were given spare clothing to wear beneath the long-sleeved black jackets and pants that would hopefully shield them from the cold. Hinata got hot just looking at the clothes. With the the girls fully dressed and prepared, they headed back to Tsunade's office, passing Naruto's hospital room.

"You know, we wouldn't mind waiting if you wanted to see him again." Sakura smiled.

Hinata blushed and nodded.

"I'll only be a second..."

She went in, but froze when she saw the hospital bed...The girls were horrified when she screamed,

"NARUTO-KUN'S GONE!"

Sakura ran in, followed by Temari and TenTen. Sure enough, all that was left of Naruto was his bloody bandages and his favorite jacket.

"That's odd...he didn't come in with his jacket. He was just wearing special ops clothing." Sakura noted, which told her Naruto must have asked for his jacket from someone.

Hinata walked over to the bed, watching the trail of blood that led from the bed to the open window across the window. She gripped his jacket with a whimper as Sakura examined the blood.

"This blood has been sitting here for a while. It's so cold it's started to stain the tiles."

Hinata sighed, grabbing his jacket and looking at the empty bed.

"TenTen, you have Neji's ribbon, Temari, you have Shikamaru's earring and Sakura...you have Sasuke's child."

With a strength no one knew she had, she looked up at them and nodded.

"That's more than enough to believe they are live. Girls...Let's bring back our boys."
