Shoving his hands in his pockets, Naruto all but beamed as he walked down the streets of Konoha, which were begining to fill more and more with young trick-or-treaters. A few children passing by had slowed down to point and stare at him, some cracking jokes. Even a few adults had walked by and gaped, actually believing he was who he was dressed as. All the more reason he smiled.


Ever since he had gotten his invitation, he was deadset on attending the party. It was really a half hour till it offically started, but he was just to pumped to stay at home and wait. It was the first time since Tsunade had become the new Hokage that there was a party. For anything, besides a birthday.He saw it as more than just a party, but also a sort of new chapter in Konoha. It was the begining of everyone being able to let go of the past, with the whole Orochimaru deal. Like the party was a symbol of there finally being happiness in the village after everything that had happened. He'd have to thank Tsunade-baba once he got there. She really was thoughtful at times.


"Oi, pervert-senin!"


Or he could just ring her neck. Sure, he wasn't sporting the proudest of costumes, but the thought of outdoing Sasuke was stuck in his mind. Sure, there was the 95% chance of the teme not even going (I mean come on, it's the teme!) but everyone else was going to be there and he couldn't wait to see what they looked like. Ignoring the little voice behind him, he kept walking, nose in the air. He wouldn't turn around unless the boy really recognized him.


"Oi, Naruto nii-chan!"


Smirking, Naruto turned around to see Konohamaru run up to him, chuckeling as the young boy tried to haul his candy bag with him. Bandages falling free from his costume, Naruto bent down to help the little mummy get a good grip on his bag. Taking in his nii-chan's appearence, the young boy looked up at him with a confused look.


"Aren't you a little old to be trick-ot-treating? And why are you dressed as Jiraiya?"


Laughing knowingly, Naruto pulled his invitaion from the folds of his vest and showed it to him.


"I was invitated to a party by the 'Kage. Didn't you get one?"


Shaking his head angrily, how could he not be invited, Konohamaru scanned the paper and handed it back.


"Nope. Neither did anyone else I know. Are you sure it's not just a prank?"


Thinking on it, Naruto realised it could be just that. He wouldn't put it past Kiba or one of the others to do such a thing. They were always looking for some kind of way to embarass each other. Lee could have finally made his move on him after he had made fun of his lover. Neji had deserved getting his hair spray painted purple after the way he had showed him up during their last mission together. How he didn't notice him sneak up behind him was beyond comprehension. The Byakuugan wielder was probably daydreaming about Lee again.


"Maybe, but I don't think so. The 'Kage's people delivered it personally."


Leading Naruto over to a bench nearby, Konohamaru asked,


"Then why are you dressed as Jiraiya?"


Explaining the rules for the party to the young boy, Naruto sat beside him and rummaged through his candybag.


"Oh, wow! I bet it's going to be fun. I wonder howcome I didn't get invited! That's so unfair."


Laughing to himself, Naruto looked down at his watch and saw that it was ten minutes till the party started. Not finding anything good in the mounds of candy, Naruto said his good-bye's to the young boy and began running down the street.


He had no clue why, but the 'Kage had decided to host the party at the old site for the chuunin exams. The Forest of Death was more accurate. The woman had to be out of her mind to even think of having any kind of party there. But she did, and he was now on his way to said party. It was also unsettleing to find out that not everyone in the village was invited. Just what was she planning to do?


Approaching the large field around the fenced in death trap, Naruto noticed the crowd of people scattered around the front gate. Atleast it wasn't all just a joke.


"Hey, Naruto! Over here!"


Hearing Kiba calling him, Naruto burst into fits of laughter as he walked up to a group of his friends, whom all were dressed in their costumes and glaring at him.


"What the hell's so funny, hermit?"


Neji spat from his spot next to Lee. The green beast was, rather proudly, puffing out his chest as he showed of his light purple tutu and spandex tights. A perfect, yet disturbing, mockery of a ballerina, which was a dancer from the far West countries. How the things had become so popular was beyond him. Neji looked more refined, dressing as the first Hokage of the village was easy for him, what with his long black hair fitting well with his armour and robes.


Kiba, on the otherhand, wasn't looking as happy. Pointed ears, a long brown tail (probably thanks to his latest, wierd pill invention he preffered to during his battles) and a big chocolate coloured fur coat made him look the spitting image of a pissed off feline. Even Akamaru was dressed as a large kitten, no longer being small enough to perch atop his masters head he was laying besdie him, knawing at the silver bell around his neck. The only one among the small group who looked completely indifferent was Shino. He actually looked cool as a DJ. He didn't have to change much, seeing as how he already looked like one.


"Nothing. Just enjoying the scenery."


Glancing around at the other cliques around them, some of the others made him laugh out as well and draw attention to his small group.


All the girls were near the hut that had been used to distribute scrolls during the exams. He could make out TenTen, who was imitating her sensei and Hinata who was also dressed as her sensei. Temari was also there, dressed as a witch, her fan replaced with an oak broom. Ino was standing on tiptoe, peering over the crowd of people, searching for her girlfriend most likely. Her piggy snout stood out on her face and he chuckeld.


From the corner of his eye, he noticed a samurai and a racoon walking his way.


"Oi, Gaara!"


The racoon growled and flipped him the bird, obviously not wanting to be seen. Kankuro poked him in the back with his sword, pushing him forward and into the group of guys.


They all conversed with one another, giving their own ideas on what they thought the whole party was going to be about and wondering why exactly they were having it here. Naruto had made the joke that they were probably here to clean up the place, and whatever they found would be the reward. Noticing Ino still searching the area for Sakura, Naruto too began to worry. It was now almost a half hour after the time they were supposed to be there. He hadn't seen either of his teammates since he had arrived.


"Have any of you seen Sakura or Sasuke?"


Everyone shook their head. If they didn't get there soon, the party would start without them. Come to think of it, none of the teachers had shown up either.


Hearing Kiba whistle and jeer for some reason, Naruto turned his head towards the direction everyone seemed to be looking. From their spot on the field, all the guys could see that there were two more people in the crowd of girls. He noticed Sakura kissing Ino on the forehead, seeing as how a kiss on the lips was useless thanks to her Kakashi mask and Ino's snout. He didn't recognize the other girl, though. She had her back to him and her head down, her hair reminding him of the statue's from the Valley of the End.


"I wonder who that is?"


Struting past them, Kiba said with a smirk,


"Dunno, but I'm going to find out."


Speaking up for the first time since he had joined the group, the Kazekage laughed,


"Ooh, go get her, tiger."
