Mutal Feeling

Author’s Note: I hope you guys like this chapter. After I worked out the kinks everything seemed to flow better. I think I will be able to get this story finished this year. A Big thank you to my beta Solaris Moon.

He just had to be behind him, didn’t he? Couldn’t he just get his way just one time? Was that so hard to ask for? All he wanted was to wake up one day and get just what he wanted. If that were to happen then he wouldn’t be in the predicament he was in now.

“Oi, Dobe you in there?” Sasuke asked again, tapping his shoulder this time.

No, I’m not here. Please don’t touch me! Naruto’s mind screamed, as he turned around to finally face the one person who he had been dodging for weeks.

Oh, today could get ugly. Just as he turned guess who was right there next to him. God, why is it you don’t show me the love you show others?

“I’m here, teme. I just didn’t get enough sleep,” he tried to say as neutrally as possible but failed miserably. I am so dead.

“Don’t get pissy, dumbass, you’re the one that was ignoring me for days now.” Sasuke was pissed.

“What’s your damn problem?” He asked, looking Naruto dead in the face. Damn, if looks could kill I would have died then come back and died again. He’s really pissed.

“I don’t have a problem, I was just busy as hell.” The blond said, getting his senses back.

“It seems I wasn’t the only one busy, congrats on the relationship.” He heard himself say with that honey-covered niceness he had recently just found. As soon as the words ‘congratulations’ left his mouth he felt a pang in his chest. Not only that, he saw something flash across Sasuke’s face that he never thought he would see.

‘Hurt’

Why would he be hurt? Now that didn’t make sense. Shouldn’t he be happy that I’m congratulating him?

“I would have told you, but I haven’t seen you. You know I hate it when you ignore me.” he said softly.

Damn.

Naruto felt like a complete ass. He knew that tone oh so well. He had noticed one thing about Sasuke as their relationship progressed: he cared a lot about what Naruto thought about him. He was the first and only person he ever really, fully let in. He was cool with the other guys and even around the girls he acted like he normally did about
Naruto, but not fully. He had worked his damned hardest to get that spot in Sauske’s life, but now that ‘bitch’ almost forgot she was there.

“Sorry, seriously, I won’t do it again. I swear I was really busy,” he said, giving him one of his goofy smiles. I might as well deal with this till I find out why the hell Sakura betrayed me.

He nodded. “Baka,” he replied with a small smile of his own.

Thank god I’m forgiven.

Naruto turned his attention to Sakura.

“Never knew you had the hots for Sasuke.” He barely bit out.

“I have just never acted on them,” She said, smiling and grabbing Sasuke’s arm.

Oh, she so wanted to die. Gathering up the last piece of his sanity, Naruto nodded and looked off.

“We should get to class.” He said, turning toward the door, opening it, and walking in.

I have no choice.

If he really liked her, Naruto would have to accept this. But he wouldn’t go without giving Sakura a piece of his mind. If she really liked him as well she should have told me. Why did she act like a friend and then back stab me?
Sighing and running a hand through his hair, he walked to his seat and sat down to try to figure out how this thing he called his life was going to ever be fine again. He didn’t know how this would work when he felt the way he did.
I really fucking hate being in love.

~A few days ago~

“Are you sure this is going to work?” Sasuke asked.

“Yes, don’t you trust me?” Sakura asked after she ran the plan by him for the third time.

“No, I really don’t. Don’t you think this is a little childish?” Sasuke asked, rubbing his hands over his jean legs.

He didn’t know why he ever thought confiding in Sakura was a good thing. He had just come to terms with his secret desire for his blond friend and he somehow got it in his head that talking to Sakura might help him. Which now ended up with where he was.

“Look, the idiot is crazy about you and since neither of you has the balls enough to admit your feelings for the other, then might as well make him jealous!” Sakura said with an evil smile. She had long ago given up on her feelings for Sasuke. She even had someone she liked, but she wanted to help her friends get together and Naruto had downright refused to confess.

She had thought that over time he would admit his feelings for the Sasuke but ‘over time’ turned into a year. She couldn’t take it anymore. Naruto was really planning on never confessing… and Sasuke was no better. Even though Naruto had fallen for Sasuke a year ago, Sasuke had been in love with Naruto for a year and half. It was all just so annoying.

They both downright refused to listen to anyone’s advice. She had had enough. So she decided to devise a plan where she would make Naruto jealous. Oh yes, she was going to make him jealous enough to (hopefully) confess. She just hoped that Naruto would catch on and snatch up Sasuke. Something in the back on her mind told her this was going to get really ugly. Hopefully though it would work out.

She really hoped.

Sasuke knew this wasn’t something he should do. He didn’t want to play with Naruto’s feelings, but Sakura was right. He couldn’t bring himself to confess and, as she put it, Naruto downright refused too. Somehow that really bothered him. He had wanted Naruto to confess. Sasuke didn’t know why but he wanted, no, needed Naruto to be the one to do it. He could have easily confessed but every time he wanted to bring it up it scared him to death. He didn’t want to ruin the relationship he had with the blond. That was the last thing he wanted.

But he really wanted to ruin it.

All because he was in love.
It was hard to admit that he was in love with that blond. He hadn’t noticed as Sakura pointed out the way he looked at the blond or the way he only cared about what Naruto thought. Or what Naruto felt. It just happened one day. Sasuke didn’t know why he fell in love. One day he started to look at Naruto differently, Sasuke started to want Naruto’s opinion on things.

‘Want’

That word again.

Yes, he wanted something he really shouldn’t. He needed it.

‘Need’

Yes, definitely NEEDED a lot of things from Naruto.

It was just fear. Fear of what could happen. Even though Sakura had reassured him that everything was fine and that Naruto was definitely in love with him. Then why did he refuse to confess? That was where Sasuke’s ‘fear’ came from. Another word he hated and wished he didn’t feel.

‘Fear’

His fear of not knowing why Naruto didn’t want to confess to him. Did he really think that little of Sasuke? Was he scared that he would deny him? Shun him? Treat him differently?
He wanted to know… no, needed to know.

‘Know’

A lot of things he wanted to know.

But just couldn’t bring himself to ask.

That was why he was where he was. Conspiring with his ex-fan club member-turned-friend to make Naruto jealous enough to confess to him. If this didn’t work or he started to realize that not even jealousy or having Sasuke taken away from him by a friend would make him confess or at least show signs of wanting him like he wanted Naruto, he would give up. It was selfish. He shouldn’t bank on Naruto being the only one confessing.
He should also gather up courage to confess but he said it was that feeling of ‘want’. Wanting Naruto to confirming his existence. Confirming that even he could be loved. Yes, he had love from his parents and love from his brother and his friends seemed to like him well enough now that he wasn’t that bastard they used to know him as, not since Naruto. No, he wanted Naruto to love him.

More than anything, he wanted Naruto to want him and need him.

And hopefully in knowing that they could finally just be together.

Hopefully.

Yes, hopefully this would work. But just like he knew Sakura was feeling the same, he had a sickening feeling that it wasn’t going to work out like they had hoped.

Fucking feelings and things called love.

~Present~

Thank god class was over. Finally he could get out of there. Naruto grabbed his things as fast as he could and tried to jet for the door. Oh, if he could be so lucky.

“Naruto! Where are you going so fast?” That person he really didn’t want to hear asked.

“I was going to go find Ino, she’s helping me with some issues I’m having,” Naruto said, not really looking at her.

“What kind of ‘issues’?” She asked curiously. She really wanted to know if it was the issues of her fake relationship with Sasuke. Like she would get that kinda of answer.

“Issues ‘friends’ help with.” Naruto said. He really didn’t want to stand there anymore. And if looks could kill. At the stress he had put on ‘friend’ he could see her flinch slightly. So she knew that he was pissed and hurt.

Good.

Getting her wits back together Sakura stood squarely glaring at him

“Stop being pissy, this really is your own fault.” She said, looking him in the face.

“My fault?! You know what, I’m not going to even ask, but just know I won’t be talking to you for awhile.” He said coldly and left as quickly as possible. He couldn’t believe this chick.

His fault?

How the hell was this his fault? How could her being with Sasuke be his fault? Was she crazy?

Why the hell would he willingly want the person he was in love with to be with his friend who happened to be aware of his feelings for said friend?

Yes, she was crazy.

Out of her damn mind.

“He’s pissed.” Sakura said with a small smile. Maybe this would work out after all.

“Who’s pissed?” Sasuke asked, standing beside her looking around. “Where did Naruto go?”

“He left because he’s pissed that I’m dating you and I did it knowing about his feelings,” she said with a chuckle.

“Are you sure he was jealous and not angry that I didn’t tell him about us before he found out from someone else?” Sasuke asked, finally looking at Sakura. He just couldn’t believe that his friend would be jealous over him.

“You just don’t want to believe that it could be actually true when I say that he is in love with you?” Sighing, she looked at him.

“He’s in love with you and once you finally get that through your skull I can stop worrying about you guys and finally get with the person I want,” Sakura said, running a hand through her hair. They were really hopeless.

“If you say so…” Sasuke said, closing his eyes, trying hard to make himself believe her words.

He would believe her. Even if it were a lie. Even if it wasn’t true. He would do it because he was in love.

So madly in love.
