I do not own Naruto, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Chapter Four
A.N. Again, sorry for the unexpected delay in the last chapter guys. I’m working on it. That and I’m still working out ways to develop the character properly for what I want to happen. This is turning out to be a little more difficult than I originally thought. BUT I WILL GET THROUGH IT! *Fire appears in eyes and an ocean crashes behind me while I pull off a very Lee-like pose.*
Ok. That was weird. Even for me.
Now, there is one question that’s popped up a few times since the mention of Konoha came in. Alright, Naruto and Sasuke live in the ‘real world’ or our world as I prefer to call it. Naruto has a regular job, owns a car, owns a home, isn’t a fighter/ninja/anything else you want to put here. He is the average Joe. Hard as it is to believe. Sasuke is again a mental patient. He has two sides. His regular side which Naruto has seen for all of 3 seconds a day, and the side that Naruto has now come to know and who I have come to call ‘cave man Sasuke’. According to the doctors, everything that ‘cave man Sasuke’ comes up with is all in his mind. I’m not going any further than that.
Now, for the next chapter.
Through the Eyes of the Insane ~ Chapter Four
This was getting ridiculous. Absolutely fucking ridiculous. It had been an hour now and Sasuke still absolutely refused to open the door. Once he realized that Naruto really didn’t remember anything about this Konoha, he had locked himself in the basement (though how he learned to use the lock is still a mystery to Naruto) and refused to talk to him or see him.
This in and of itself was beginning to worry Naruto. He knew a few things about people who weren’t really all that stable, and Sasuke’s lack of response was what was scaring Naruto the most. Even if the raven would yell at him, ream him out, try to beat the crap out of him… Anything was better than this un-tolerable silence.
“Sasuke. Please come out. I’m sorry. I want to talk to you.” Again, for what seemed like the millionth time, Naruto waited, and upon receiving no reply, decided it was time for drastic measures. He had hoped to coax him out of the basement so that Sasuke wouldn’t feel like Naruto was trying to overtake his life, but right now, he had no choice.
Walking to the kitchen, he picked up a knife and moved back towards the basement door. He jammed the blade in between the door and the frame, wiggling it for a while. He wasn’t very experienced at this, but someone had taught him a few years ago, and it was a handy trick to have come a situation like this. He had only wished he had practiced it more so that it would work better.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, he herd the click of the lock giving way, and he opened the door, seeing nobody there. He had thought Sasuke would be at the top of the stairs, but the way was empty. Venturing further into his basement, he slowly looked around, the dim light not providing any form of comfort to the situation at hand. There was a light ticking sound accompanied by a scratching to the right, but the light failed to illuminate enough for Naruto to make out what it was.
His hand ran along the wall, finally finding the light switch, and he paused, wondering if he really wanted to turn it on at all. It worried him. But as the clicking and scratching continued, he steeled himself, took a deep breath, and flicked the switch.
The light blared on from above and Naruto had to squint, waiting for his eyes to adjust to the light. What he saw when they did completely shocked him. He was speechless and he looked around at the mess. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing, and his first thought was ‘my god. It’s going to take forever to clean this up.’
The clicking and scratching continued in the corner that Naruto had neglected thus far, but he turned his head, and rolled his eyes. It would figure. Of all things.
Sasuke had somehow managed to find the bucket of chalk that Naruto kept in store for Konohamaru for when he ended up babysitting the kid. He lived with his grandfather a few miles down the road and the twerp was too young to leave on his own, so Naruto usually ended up babysitting him. For those times, he had bought a few small things for him to keep himself occupied with, such as the sidewalk chalk that Sasuke had managed to get his little greedy hands on.
And now, it was all over the basement walls. In some places, it looked like it was just scribbles, nothing that should make sense really. But if he looked closer, he could actually make out the faint outline of buildings, trees, and sometimes even people. It seemed to Naruto that the people were drawn with more care than the buildings, but they still seemed pretty childish.
Over where Sasuke was, he seemed to be concentrating like his life depended on it, drawing what seemed to be people in groups of four. Well what he would assume to be three kids and an adult, since what he assumed were the kids were half the height of what should be the adults. But the basic features were fairly clear.
There was an adult woman with red eyes, brown, wavy hair and she was wearing what looked like white dress that came to mid thy. Beside her, a boy with what he could only assume was a hooded jacket, two red fanglike marks below his slitted eyes, and something that looked vaguely like a white puppy on his head. Next to the fang boy was a boy with a jacket, who’s collar came up to hide most of his face and round glasses that covered his eyes. There were black dots around him, and beyond that, nothing was recognizable about him. Again, beside him was what appeared to be a girl. Her coat was a light lavender and her hair was almost black, but he had colored lightly, so it could have been just a very very dark brown. She had her hands in front of her face, but what captivated him most were her white eyes. Even the red eyes of the other woman hadn’t thrown him off that much.
There were three other groups so far with the same number of people, though they all had their own unique qualities. One group with a boy with what looked like panties on his head, a blond pony tailed girl, and a boy with a head that looked like a pineapple. Another group with another blond girl with four ponytails, a boy with what looked like a cat suit on and a redhead that, by the looks of it hadn’t slept in forever and was ready to kill. Then the last finished group was a girl with a set of buns, a boy and a man both in what looked to be scary green jumpsuits, with their thumbs up and smiling, and a boy who looked angry. He noticed the eyes and looked back to the first girl. They were the same eyes.
He continued to look on, ignoring what Sasuke was drawing at the moment. A white haired man on a frog, a blond woman with pigtails, and enormous chest and an irritated look, and a brunet holding a pig. A white haired man with glasses and beside him a man with a snake for a tongue, and some ugly ass purple butt bow (DESPISE THE BUTT BOW!). A group of people all in the same cloak. Black with red clouds, funny hats, and painted nails. Hell, one of them even looked like a plant for Christ sakes.
He finally scanned over to what Sasuke was drawing. A boy, he assumed it to be Sasuke himself simply from the hair style, only his eyes were red, black dots swirling around in it. A pink haired girl with big doe green eyes, a silver haired man with an orange book and a mask. And finally a blond in an orange jumpsuit, a big mouth and jumping up in the air. The blond hair seemed to fit himself, but he wasn’t sure what or who it could have been.
They were all stick figures, or just above, but the features that he could pick out so clearly couldn’t have been clearer. The drawings were basic, but these features he seemed to spend a lot of time on, almost as if these features were the things that stood out most about whoever the person was.
Having finished his drawing, Sasuke turned to face Naruto, surprised that the blond was actually there. But that wasn’t his concern right now. He moved to stand beside Naruto, admiring his own handy-work. “Naruto remember now? Konoha? Ninja’s? Friends?” He looked up to Naruto hopefully, preying inside that the blond remembered. Before he gave Naruto a chance to answer, he continued on, trying to push his memory further. “You and me, best friends. Kakashi teach us to fight. Sakura friend. And others friends too, but you and me, best friends.”
Naruto didn’t know what to say, on one side, he had Sasuke pleading with him to remember. To recall memories of a place and people he had no memories of. And from what he could tell, to become the ravens best friend again. The fact that the raven believed him to be his best friend, and to believe that it was he himself that had lost his memories made Naruto’s heart clench painfully. If Sasuke really believed all of this, then it must be painful to believe your best friend didn’t remember all the times you had together.
But on the other side, he couldn’t play along. He knew none of this existed, and he knew that even if he tried to play along, it would only hurt the raven further when he found out that he was lying. Especially if the raven made it through whatever he was going through.
He was about to respond when a low growl came from the corner. A hiss followed and an orange cat lunged out of nowhere, pretty much taking Sasuke to the ground violently.
“KYUUBI!” Naruto grabbed the cat, holding him by the back of his neck and carrying him upstairs. “Damnit cat! I don’t know what you have against him, but cut it out. You scared the fuck out of him.” he set the cat on the sofa glaring at him. “How many times have I told you to behave?!”
“Not enough apparently. That cat is dead meat.”
Naruto spun around, now facing Sasuke who stood there tall and proud. His eyes were cold and steely and a deathly glare was fixed on Kyuubi. If looks could kill, the cat would be six feet under by now.
But Naruto was to shocked to react. The man who had been in his basement only minutes ago, talking with choppy broken English, drawing on his walls with chalk like a little kid, now stood before him, tall, cold and with a good vocabulary.
Sasuke moved forward, intending to throttle the cat, but Naruto intercepted, his body acting on its own violation. He stepped in between the two, still looking at the raven in shock. “You… you can speak?” Now if that didn’t sound dumb, he wasn’t sure what did. Of all the things he could have said, it just had to be ‘you can speak’ didn’t it. He cursed his brain and mentally smacked himself.
Sasuke’s eyes narrowed. “Don’t get in my way Uzumaki. After I put that cat down, you’re next.” The cold harsh words stung Naruto, and his shock turned to anger, sending a glare right back at him.
“I spent hours, weeks, months, THREE months in fact, teaching you to speak and teaching you about things that you had no idea about, and now you’re going to turn around and threaten me in my own home? After I found you nearly dead outside in the middle of a storm, gave up looking for my cat, brought you home and kept you alive? You have some nerve Sasuke.” Naruto’s hand tightened at his sides, his face starting to go red from the anger and his fingernails biting into his skin where they sunk in.
This time, it was Sasuke’s turn to be confused. “Three months? I’ve been here three months now?” The question brought on silence, bringing them to a standstill. They both worked through things in their minds, trying to piece together pieces of information that they possessed, knowing the other had the pieces they were missing, but much too stubborn to ask for them.
Finally, it was Naruto who broke the silence.
“I think we need to have a long, LONG talk.”

EDIT: Thank you so much JDSakuraKLi for pointing that out to me. I so would have missed that had I been left to my own devices. See? This is why we don't leave xXxHyuugaNejixXx without a beta. She tends to miss things even AFTER she's read it through multiple times. BAH!
A.N. OHHHH! I so went there. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! … ok. I need to calm down. Anyway, sometimes I feel like I’m moving along in the story too fast, but when I think of things that need to happen yet, I think I’m moving to slow. Damnit. See? This is why I don’t like writing fanfic. I wish I could write as well as other authors I’ve read, but I every time I try, I move either way to fast, which is what happened with Icha Icha, or I move too slow, which happened in another completely failed fic I tried at once point. Man this sucks.
But besides that, review and tell me what you think!
Ok. That was weird. Even for me.
