Chapter 4
As Naruto stared into those dark eyes it then clicked. "Are you jealous?" There was no laughter in his voice.
"No," a light blush crept across the ravens cheeks pegging him a liar.
"She isn't my girlfriend. I don't have any girlfriends or boyfriends." He smiled.
Sasuke's heard jumped but he didn't let the surprise show on his face.
Naruto leaned down, his lips inches from the raven’s ear, “not yet." he whispered.
Sasuke stepped back with a full on blush on his face as he retreated back into the club.
Naruto didn't know why he did that. It's been a while since anyone cared like that. But it was still too earlier to see what's going to happen.
~~Inside the club~~
Naruto was back behind the bar helping Ino. The band was back on the stage getting ready for their next set. What they did was place a stool in the stage where Sasuke was sitting. Then Neji stared in then then Kiba and Shika.
Sasuke closed his eyes as he started to sing.
~I feel so alone again
I know that I need you
To help me make it through the night
And I pray that you believe in me
You gave me my strength
To face another day alone
He opened his eyes and caught blue staring at him.
And I need you now my friend
More than you know yah
When will we meet again
Cause i can't let go of you
This world brings me down again
I know that I need you
To help me make it through at night
And I pray that you're the one for me
You gave me my strength to face another day alone
And I need you now my friend
More than you know yah
When will we meet again
Cause I can't let go I can't let go
As time passes by I find
Things never seem to change
When i feel alone
You bring me back to you
And I need you now my friend
More than you know yah
When will we meet again
Cause I can't let go of you
No I can't let go
Onyx eyes stared at cerulean. There was a smirk that graced Naruto's lips before he turned to help Ino.
The band played a couple more songs. They were a hit with the crowds. The club closed its doors at 2 am. Neji volunteered to take Sakura home, to her delight. The other band members left and Gaara was in his office.
Naruto sat at the bar waiting.
Sasuke came out of the back with his bag in hand and jacket on. He saw that Naruto was still there. He was hoping to avoid the blond. "I thought you would have been gone." He said as he stopped behind him.
Naruto turned around. He had been thinking, a lot. He wasn't much to beating around the bush, "Ne Sasuke, I know that we just met...”
Sasuke's eyes widened a second. He knew what was coming, "Tch, you don't have to say anything. I'll leave you alone," he told the blond as he turned away. His heart cracked a little. Yeah, they only met but it seemed like he knew him, but he knew that...
"Hey! What are you talking about?" Naruto grabbed Sasuke's arm and turned him around.
He couldn't look into those blue eyes.
Sighing, "Look, what I was going to say was that I know we just met but I would like for us to be friends." The blond finished.
"Friends..." Sasuke looked at Naruto. It was hard for him to trust. Be then again he did trust him to find this job. He wanted to get to know the blond but he was still unsure. He wanted to live a normal life. Smirking. "Sure.”
Grinning Naruto looked like a big kid.
“Dobe,” Sasuke said as he turned back toward the door trying to hide his smile.
The grin dropped, “Hey, don’t call me that, Teme!” Naruto shouted as he followed him outside.
Sakura was sitting at the kitchen table drinking a glass of tomato juice. It was 2am and she was still wired. Seeing her old friend again and having Neji-kun bring her home. Sighing loudly she stood and put the glass in the sink.
“I wish all my days turned out like this,” she said as he went to turn the light out. But something made her stop. Her eyes had just glanced over at the kitchen window for a second with something caught her eye. She walked over to the window and pulled the curtains aside and looked out into the night. They lived in a nestle of trees. Sasuke didn’t want any neighbors seeing them, so he chose this house. But then again, you can’t really see among those dense branches. As she scanned the backyard she saw a flash of silver disappear into the clump of trees by the garage.
Sakura let out a yelp as she ran to turn out the lights. Her heart was beating fast. Looking at the clock, she wondered where the hell Sasuke was.
~
The dark haired man pulled up into the driveway and got out the car. Sasuke opened the front door and once it was close was immediately tackled to the floor.
“Sasuke, there’s someone outside!” Sakura whispered as she clung to him.
“What?!”
“I saw something at the kitchen window, and then I saw something dart into the trees by the garage.” She was trying hold back her tears, but when she was scared or angry tears always flowed.
Sasuke helped her back to her room. Once she was settled he went downstairs and outside. He walked to where Sakura had said she saw thing. As he walked over to the garage he had a sense that body had been there, but they were gone now. As he stepped to the side of the garage his fears came true. Dark eyes took in the imprint of shoes in the dirt.
“Dam it,” he hissed as he made his way back to the house. That could have been anybody and not just him….He stopped those thoughts. He wasn’t going to think about the past. He now has a future to look forward to.
As he made his way back to the house he didn’t see the pair of silver eyes regarding the young Uchiha, eyes smiling as they disappeared into the dark.
~
Naruto fell down on his bed. He felt more relaxed after that hot shower. He wasn’t sure that coming back was a good idea. Even though it’s been 8 years, people seem to still remember. It’s hard to forget that he was kid whose mom killed her husband, his father. He felt the stares on his back as he walked through the streets. He ignored them, he was use to it but…his thoughts drifted to Sasuke. ‘What would he think?’ he wondered as his cerulean eyes drifted closed.
~
Sasuke laid down in bed, his mind going back to what Sakura said she had seen. He swore that he wasn’t going to think about the past. But what if they found him? What if they come after him and Sakura gets hurt? What if Naruto finds out about his past, that he was a ….? Shaking his head he turned on his side, “everything will be fine,” he said aloud as his eyelids slid closed.
~~A couple months later~~
Gaara sat at the bar as the band played on stage. Smiling he glanced around the club. It has been packed every night since he had hired Sasuke as the new lead singer. Business was great. Turning toward Ino was smiling, “what?” he asked.
“I’ve never really seen you this happy about the club before.” She told him as she filled a drink order.
“Well, I am grateful that Naruto brought Sasuke to us. To tell you the truth, Sai was an ok singer, he never brought this many people in before.”
“That’s true.” Ino said, and then walked down the bar to fill another order.
Naruto stepped into the club and smiled. The place was packed. He made his way over to the bar.
“Hey, wait for me Naru!” Sakura grabbed a hold of his shirt.
“Sorry Sakura-chan,” he was smiling as he scratched the back of his neck.
Sakura eyed the blonde as she smiled. “This place is packed I didn’t want to get lost.”
“Come on then,” he told her as he grabbed her hand. He pushed his way over to the bar.
“Hey Ino!” Sakura shouted.
“Hey what’s up pink!” Smiling she lifted the door into the bar so they could slip in.
Ino had been showing Sakura the ins and outs of bartending. They needed more help and who better to ask then a friend who was eager to learn and who had time on her hands.
Right away Sakura and Naruto were put to work.
“Thanks everyone for coming! We will see ya next time!!!” Neji told the crowd as their set ended. The crowd went wild as each band member walked off stage and into the back.
Once the club was closing Kiba, Shikamaru came out and waved a goodbye to Gaara, Ino, Sakura and Naruto as they left. Neji and Sasuke were the last one’s to come out. They headed over toward the bar where everyone was sitting.
“Took you long enough teme,” Naruto told him as he walked from around the bar.
“I was busy, dobe,” he told him in his usual deadpan voice.
“What did you call me!”
Rolling her eyed, ‘here they go again.” Sakura thought. Every time they are together, they argue, argue, or argue.
“You heard me, dobe. I was working on a song with Neji.”
Sakura went to stand next to Neji who smiled as she approached him.
Naruto could see something in the way the pale eyed man looked at Sakura. It was something that could develop into something good, for both of them.
Neji turned toward Sasuke, “I’ll take Sakura home ‘kay?”
“Okay, I’ll see you later Sakura,” Sasuke to her.
Nodding, Neji and Sakura walked out the club.
Looking at his watch seeing that it was 2 am, Gaara cursed, “I forgot we have to get up early and head over to Suna,” looking over at Ino who was still cleaning off the bar.
“I forgot too, and I still have to clean the bar and put up the chairs and…”
“Go home,” Naruto told them.
“What?”
“I said go on home, me and Sasuke will clean up and close up shop for you.” He told his friends smiling.
“Are you sure?” Gaara didn’t want to toss the keys at his friend and run out the door unless he was absolutely sure.
“Yep, go on.”
Smiling Gaara gave the keys to Naruto and headed out the door with Ino beside him.
Naruto turned to see a pair of dark eyes glaring at him, “what?”
“Dobe, why’d you say I would stay and help!”
“Well, you weren’t doing anything. All you were going to do was go home and sleep.”
The raven growled as he put his bag down behind the bar. He was glaring at the smiling Dobe as he walked toward him.
Naruto ignore the glare he knew was on the pale man's face. He turned to face Sasuke, "Ok teme, why don't you start putting those chairs on the tables and I’ll clean the bar." Smiling he walked around the bar and started to gather the glasses to wash them.
Cursing Sasuke walked over tot he first table and started to do what he was asked to do.
Once the bar was cleaned, glasses washed and put away, bottles tightened and lined up Naruto stood behind the bar looking at the raven haired man. He had to admit that he was a handsome site. He was at least 6' 1'', his body was just perfect. He was lean but not skinny; he could see the muscle working under the black t-shirt that he wore. His dark blue jeans he wore hugged his ass in just the right way. When Sasuske turned Naruto could see he worked up a little sweat that glistened on his face. His blue eyes landed on those full lips that were a perfect shade of peach. Naruto wondered how soft they were.
'Stop that!' He shouted at him self. Sasuke was a friend and you don't fantasize about friends. Shaking his head he tried to get the images out of his head, but a certain someone kept them there as he laughed.
'Kyu you are going to pay!'
Sasuke put the last chair up. Sweat was running down his face. 'How can it be this hot at 2 am he wondered? Without thinking he pulled his black t-shirt off and wiped off his face.
Naruto gasped. He hadn't realized that the sound fell from his lips until Sasuke turned to look at him. His dark eyes connecting with clear blue. The tension became tangible between the two. For the past couple of months they had spent time together, getting to know each other, Naruto felt a connection with him for some reason. Right now the feeling was strong and he couldn't help that his body started moving toward the raven.
Sasuke watched as Naruto came from around the bar and started walking toward him. He could see those blue eyes of his glazing over with something. Need, want...Lust. Lust? For him? No, that couldn't be true. He wasn't worth anyone's feelings. He....Sasuke was at a loss for words as the blond stopped in front of him.
"Ne, Sasuke," his voice thick with need, Naruto looked into dark pools of obsidian.
"Hn," he responded, barely a whisper.
“I…can I kiss you?” Naruto asked as he moved forward.
