Four: Double Whammy: Hinata and Sakura Attack!
“So,” Sakura said as she came in the back door of Hinata and Naruto’s small home. Hinata was standing over the sink, washing a mug. Yume was sitting at the breakfast table, coloring on a piece of paper. Naruto was sitting beside his son, eating a plate of scrambled eggs.
“What?” Hinata asked.
“It’s been two days since me and Ino almost tore each other’s heads off at a practice run,” she told her two friends. “What are we going to do to get back at that bitch?”
“Sakura!” Hinata growled, glaring at the other woman. She gestured toward Yume, who didn’t seem to be paying attention to the conversation. “Watch your language in the presence of my child!”
“Sorry, Yume,” Sakura told the boy.
“Like I know what you’re talking about anyway,” the kid said before getting up and leaving the room.
Hinata sighed. She gestured for Sakura to come forward. “Come on,” she told her old friend. “Come in, come in. Come in and sit down.”
Sakura stepped inside the bright kitchen.
“We have to keep this all very simple,” Hinata told Sakura, sitting down at the island bar in her kitchen. “Just start wooing him.”
“What about Ino?” Sakura asked. “I mean, she’s sure to notice that I’m hitting on her husband 24/7!”
“Of course she is,” Hinata agreed, “but that’s exactly what she asked for the other day, at the practice run. Attack her from the front. That’s what she’ll be expecting the least.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Because most women are sneaky,” Hinata answered. “Most women will backstab. All you have to do is catch her off guard, and you’ll do that by stabbing her in the front, not the back.”
“Haha,” Sakura laughed. “Hinata when did you get so ruthless?”
“All I can say is that payback’s a bitch,” the mother replied, taking a drink of water.
“Yea,” the other ninja agreed, “a bitch named Sakura.”
Suddenly, Naruto rose and began to leave.
“Hey!” Sakura cried out. “Where are you going?”
“I’m going to leave, so that when Ino comes to kill me for being in on it,” he answered, “I can just tell her that I don’t know anything. And it’ll be truthful.”
“I thought you said you were in!” Sakura called angrily.
“I am in,” he said, passing through the door into the hallway. “I’m just going to go by a different tactic.” He slammed the front door shut behind him.

“Sasuke!”
The black-haired ninja looked up from his sparring session. His opponent also looked in Naruto’s direction, standing straight. Naruto approached them, bowing his head to Sasuke’s partner. “How are you, Lee?”
Their old friend and fellow competitor turned and bowed, in turn, to Naruto. Lee had long ditched his old sensei’s clothing style and made up his own; he now wore his hair short and spiked up, and he always wore a thin, white shirt with the sleeves torn off, and khaki cargo pants with huge pockets lined with shurikens and daggers. On his feet, to help him run faster, he wore specially designed boots that enabled him to reach even faster speeds than he could as a child.
“I am doing just fine,” Rock Lee answered. “How are Hinata and Yume?”
“My family is doing very well, thank you for your concern,” Naruto replied, bowing his head. “If I may be so rude as to interrupt, but I need to speak to Sasuke alone for a moment.”
Lee waved a hand at his old friend. “No problem, buddy,” he told the wacky young man. “We were finished anyway.” He turned and began to leave.
“So what’s up?” Sasuke asked as he and his best friend sat down on a nearby bench together.
“I came to talk to you about Sakura.”
Sasuke smiled and nodded. “Ah, of course. I was expecting it sometime last week; you surprised me, Naruto. You held out longer than I expected you to.”
“You saw her and Ino going at it a couple of days ago, I presume?” Naruto asked his best friend. He wasn’t at all surprised when Sasuke nodded his head.
“This is going to be a very interesting competition, isn’t it, old friend?” the black-haired ninja asked his blond companion as they crossed the training grounds.
Naruto answered with a smile. “Three of the village’s finest women facing off? There’s no better entertainment anywhere in the world.”
Sasuke looked at Naruto. “Three?” he asked, puzzled. “Sakura, Ino… who else?”
Naruto let out a sigh. He ran his hand over his face and through his hair. “Who else but my own wife?”
Sasuke laughed. “She is a troublemaker. Silent but deadly that one is.”
Naruto chuckled with him. “But of course,” he muttered. “She married me.”

He showed up at her home that night, guarded by imminent darkness. She met him at the door and led him inside. He couldn’t stop himself anymore; her lips tasted so wonderful and soft, and her skin was so smooth and unblemished. For years, he had desired her more than any other man in the world would, or even could. She was beautiful, he had always known that, but he had never known her as a man knows the woman he loves…
Until tonight.
But he woke with a start, covered in his own freezing sweat. Looking to his right, Sasuke saw, not Sakura, but Ino.
Covering his face with his hands, he knew his life was nothing.
She was EVERYTHING.

“He had a dream about you last night,” Yume told Sakura at the breakfast table of Naruto and Hinata’s home.
Sakura smiled a little. “Did he?” she wondered aloud. “What did he dream about me?”
The boy shook his head. “It was one of those dreams Dad has about Mom sometimes, but I’m not supposed to see them.”
“Damn right, you’re not, boy!” Naruto roared from the head of the table, but, when Sakura looked up at him, she saw that he had turned bright red.
“Don’t be embarrassed, Naruto!” she cried out, patting his knee. “She’s a beautiful woman, and she’s your wife. It’s never a bad thing to dream of the woman you love.”
“So that means Mr. Uchiha doesn’t love his wife?” Yume asked seriously. “He loves you instead?”
Sakura stopped.
“I don’t know, Yume,” she told him. “I don’t want to get my hopes up.”
“Well,” the boy said, getting up, “I think you should. I don’t think he’ll let you down.”
She made a face. “How do you know?” she called after him.
He stopped in the doorway, turning to look at her. “He dreamt that you were his wife, that his children were also your children. I don’t think a man that dreams something like that would disappoint you twice in one lifetime.” He left.
“Smart kid you’ve got, Naruto,” Sakura told the father.
He shrugged, drinking from his mug. “Gets it from his mother.”
