Richi's Reason, Hinata's Mercy: I Understand You

(Everyone! Thanks for all of the E-Huggles! I give them back to you ten-fold! *E-Huggles!* Okay, time to answer some reviews!!!!)

I REFUSE TO TELL ANYONE WHERE NARUTO IS! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!! However, one review, from Kenshin Ryuu asks if he left of his own accord, or was he forced out? Hmm...I wonder, lol. I'll give you a hint: One could consider it a little bit of both! But, I DO think it'd be just so freaking cute if Naruto/Hinata under the influence of Kyuubi and Byakko were all cute and nuzzling each other healing each other's wounds...AWWWW! If I could draw that, I totally would! little Chibi versions of them! Cuteeeee!!!! Anyway, *ahem* lol. Next! Akumu-Kun, don't worry about changing your name so frequently, it totally doesn't bother me and I'm really happy you like my story!!!! *E-HUGGLES*! Oh, and to Ragno, thank you for catching my slip-up! I really appreciate it! E-Huggles for all!!!!!!)

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Hinata shed the heavy jacket, finally tired of it around her shoulders, revealing the black cloth around her breasts while the rest of the top from the top down was made of fishnet material, stopping at her bellybutton. She stared into the fire created by the young woman sitting across from her, wondering what her husband and her child were doing. She prayed Sakura and the rest of her squad made it back to Konoha safely...

"Hinata-Sama?"

Hinata looked up at the beautiful, young, raven-haired woman who wore her black hair in two, short pigtails. Her midnight-blue eyes were focused on Hinata as she extended the plate with the roasted fish to her.

"You should eat something, Hinata-Sama."

Hinata smiled warmly and accepted the food. She looked at her heavy, black jacket and offered it to Atchi.

"Here, you look like you're freezing."

"Quite the contrary! I'm a natural-born Yukikagure girl, so the cold doesn't bother me. Are you okay? I know they don't have weather like this in Konoha all the time."

Hinata politely ate the food and shook her head. She had to admit, despite the fact she was sitting in a little hidden with only a small fire to keep them 'warm', she wasn't at all uncomfortable. She thought about the events leading up to where she was...In the smokescreen, she'd been separated from her friends by the girl who was sitting across from her, poking the fire with a stick. Hinata learned that Atchi was a sister of the trio they'd encountered earlier...However, she was completely different. Hinata was also grateful for the fact that Atchi had stopped her from attacking Richi...Especially because her own attack would have been turned against her and then who KNEW how things could have turned out? She remembered Atchi leading her away from the smoke and deeper into the ruins of the village until they came to one of several abandoned huts. It had been two hours since then, but one thing still bothered Hinata...

"Anno...Atchi-Chan?"

"Hai, Hinata-Sama?"

Blushing Hinata looked at the ground.

"Um...why...why did you call me Yukikage?"

Atchi could only frown a little, but looked her dead in the eye.

"Because...you look just like Yondaime Yukikage, Shioriko-Sama."

Hinata's eyes widened and Atchi could easily read the fear in her eyes.

"You really don't know anything, do you?"

It wasn't really meant as an insult, Atchi just wondered how the daughter of a great Yukikage was so ignorant of her own position. Hinata brought her knees to her chest and stared into the fire.

"I guess I don't...I mean, I've lived in Konoha as a Hyuuga my entire life. All I remember about my mother is her smell...Like the sweetest flower I could ever imagine, yet no matter how much I searched, I could never find it."

"Ah! You must mean the Yukisakura. Everyone said it was Yondaime's favorite flower and fragrance."

"Yukisakura...?"

Hinata was intrigued. Judging by the name, it was a cherry blossom that survived in the snow...?

"It's rare cherry blossom that only blooms in snow, so we have them year round. They are these pretty all white petals tipped with the beautiful blue color at the end. I'll show you some tomorrow..."

Hinata smiled a little.

"Arigato..."

After a moment of silence, Atchi decided to ask a bold question:

"Are you Uzamaki Naruto's lover?"

Hinata blushed all the way down to her toes. Even though they'd done it so many times and she even had a son by him, she was so embarrassed! Atchi giggled a little and Hinata played with her hair which was parted into two, long pigtails.

"Hmm-hmm...He was here, wasn't he?"

Atchi nodded, a look of guilt on her face.

"Hai...I'm afraid that I couldn't do anything to stop my sister's assaults, or my own for that matter."

Atchi quickly bowed, her fingers touching and her forehead on the ground.

"I am ready to accept my punishment, Godaime-Sama...! I'm so sorry! I did my best to get him free so he could get out of here safe, but...!"

Hinata watched tears of terror and regret flow down the girl's face. She guessed that Atchi was around her age, sixteen or seventeen, but she was still a loyal follower to Hinata, even though she hadn't even accepted the position. Atchi winced when she felt Hinata's hand on the back of her head. It stayed there for a moment before Atchi was warmed by a sensation very foreign to her...She looked up, seeing Hinata's smile and her gentle, snow-colored eyes.

"I forgive you, I promise. You tried to help him at the end and that is all that matters."

Atchi tried to cease the tears falling from her eyes.

"B...but...my sisters...they did such terrible things to him, even though I begged them to stop...! And then, papa Hyuuga..."

Hinata's heart leaped into her throat. She grabbed Atchi by the shoulders.

"Did you say Hyuuga?!"

"Yes! You know of him?"

Hinata released her and sighed.

"If we are talking about the same man...then yes. Do you know his first name?"

"Hiashi." Atchi nodded in confirmation.

Hinata swallowed nervously as a fear laced around her heart and held strong. What the hell was her father doing here and why? Had this been all a trap to try and kill Naruto...?

"Atchi, I need you to tell me, what role did this Papa Hyuuga play in hurting Naruto-Kun?"

"He told us that if we could keep the Yonnin busy, that he'd promise that he'd find more people to help restore our village. But...he also said he wanted to try and raise the spirit of Byakko. He got so furious when we told him that Byakko's spirit had been long since gone from the village and then he muttered something about how that would make his plans very inconvient. But the reason we didn't kill Naruto-Kun was because Papa Hyuuga said that he needed him alive because he needed Kyuubi."

Hinata's eyes widened in panic.

"Kyuubi...?! What would he want with Kyuubi?!"

Atchi sighed, shaking her head.

"My sisters might know, but...he hasn't said what he plans on trying to do with Byakko and Kyuubi, but he said this: 'Where there is ice, there is fire, where there is Kyuubi, there is Byakko and a much greater treasure' I don't understand it myself, but it might have something to do with..."

Hinata was trying to process this new information. Her father certainly wasn't a dumb man and he knew what happened when man tried to control any of the Tailed Beasts or Guardian Spirits. He couldn't summon Byakko and Kyuubi because he'd get destroyed in the process, so revenge as his motif was a bit of a stretch, but WHAT did he want with both Byakko and Kyuubi...?

"Did he say where he was going after this?"

"Well...when my sisters released me..."

"Released you?"

Atchi nodded, looking into the fire.

"They locked me up when they knew I tried to help Naruto...But, I digress. I heard Tenchi say something about the Eastern Lands."

"Where is that?" Hinata asked.

"It's some uncharted territory in the west. While I don't understand it myself, he said he would hopefully find what he was looking there. I don't quite understand it myself...There's nothing but grass, grass and more grass, but he said he was going to visit a shrine."

A shrine of what, was Hinata's question. She could barely piece together any of the parts of the puzzle...'Where there is ice, there is fire, where there is Kyuubi, there is Byakko...and a much greater treasure to discover'. Hinata didn't know what it meant, but if she had to take the obvious guess...her father needed both Byakko and Kyuubi, or in other words, Naruto and herself, but even Atchi said he didn't know the location of Byakko, so it meant SOME good luck, right...? Atchi stood up, walking over to a small bag and pulling out three scrolls before walking back to Hinata. She laid them out by the fire and Hinata's eyes widened.

"I found these not too long ago...It tells the story of Byakko and Kyuubi..."

"Wait a second, there is a story behind the two?"

Atchi nodded with a grin, very happy she made Hinata curious. She rolled out the scroll showing a fearsome looking Kyuubi with red eyes and all nine-tails whipping wildly around him. The scroll beside that one was of the great white tiger, Byakko.

"There's a legend that whenever the moon, the sun and earth all align, Kyuubi is reunited with her lost love, Byakko..."

"HER? Wait a second, did you say...?"

Atchi nodded and lowered her voice as if someone else where whispering, but she was excited to share this information.

"Yep! Very few people know Kyuubi is female, just like Byakko is male."

Hinata wished she could see the look on Naruto's face if he were beside her, but he probably knew of Kyuubi's true gender. She placed the third scroll in between the one of Kyuubi and Byakko. It was of the sun, the earth and the moon all aligned with one another.

"When this happens, Byakko and Kyuubi are reunited with one another, but only while the alliance of the sun, moon and earth last, which, by some legends say is only for an hour. After that, Kyuubi and Byakko split again. There's also a legend that Kyuubi represents the sun while Byakko represents the moon...This would explain why they could only physically be together during this time. At any other time, if they are summoned, it must not be together, because great calamity will befall the lands."

So, keep Byakko and Kyuubi apart until then. Sounded easy...But that would mean her having to be apart from Naruto, right...? No, Hinata mentally chastised herself, there had to be another way.

"Atchi, do you know why this is so?"

"Because it would disturb the Earth's medium, Gobi. It is said that Gobi came from Byakko and Kyuubi, resulting in the Creation of Earth and likewise, it's guardian, Gobi."

Hinata had vaguely remembered the stories they used to learn: Gobi No Houkou was apparently a five-tailed, pure white dog who resembled Kyuubi with the long, pointed ears, but had Byakko's black stripes. So, Kyuubi and Byakko created Gobi...

"I think I understand, since Kyuubi is a representation of the sun and Byakko, the moon, that is why Gobi was created...?"

"Almost. Kyuubi and Byakko wanted someplace they could meet whenever the time arose, which is why Earth was created with Gobi No Houkou as it's guardian. Gobi was said to be lonely, so he created people using the tears he cried from his loneliness so he wouldn't be so alone anymore."

Hinata sighed a little...Gobi seemed like such a tragic character. Atchi could definitely relate to not wanting to be alone anymore. She continued with her tale.

"The first people Gobi created were wonderful and worshipped Gobi and treated this earth with respect, however, soon, people became hungry with power and wanted more and more of it. They tried to use Gobi for their own, selfish gain which, resulted in Kyuubi and Byakko, unintentionally coming down at the same time when the planets were not aligned. Chaos reigned for a very long time until the next alignment when they were forced to separate. Before they parted, they hid Gobi's spirit in the Earth, never to be awakened."

Hinata was so enraptured by this tale, she didn't hear the footsteps behind her.

"You ladies seem to be enjoying yourself..."

Hinata turned around, a kunai in her hand and was more than ready to do battle. Her eyes widened when she saw Richi, Tenchi and Kuchi, the three sisters from earlier. Kuchi sighed a little.

"Just relax, Hinata-Sama..."

Atchi stood behind Hinata, glaring at her sisters. Richi sighed a little bit.

"Look, we're not gonna hurt you, especially if you're under the protection of the Yukikage."

Hinata's eyes widened and before she could protest that she wasn't, Atchi gripped her arm a little more, shaking her head. Still, this didn't make Hinata any less leery of these girls and her fury was all but ignited when she finally laid eyes on the evil snakes who'd done this to her Naruto-Kun.

"You....do you know what you did to Naruto-Kun...?!" Hinata glared.

The girls, even as confident as they'd been, were nervous at this point. Hinata looked down at them, even though they were all about the same age, save for Richi who was only two years older than Hinata herself. Hinata sighed a little bit...

"And now, he's gone missing now. You don't know what it's like...To have a person you love so much..."

Hinata shook her head. She refused to cry and let these girls get the better of her.

"We want to help." Tenchi sighed heavily.

"Help? How do we know this isn't another trap?" Atchi asked.

The girls sighed and resigned themselves.

"We'll free your friends from the Genjutsu we put on them, but really...we do want to help." Kuchi sighed heavily.

Hinata lowered her kunai, but kept her byakugen activated. Richi looked at Hinata and cocked her head a little.

"I can see it in your eyes...You want to trust us, but still...You are cautious. You are just like the Yondaime..."

Hinata's eyes widened a little and Richi sighed.

"Listen, I can understand if you don't trust me, but...if you can spare a moment, I want to talk to you."

Against her better judgement, Hinata agreed to give this girl a moment of her time. Atchi looked at Hinata nervously who looked at her sisters.

"This girl is under my protection...Harm a hair on her head and I promise you won't live to regret it."

That seemed to get the two other siblings, Kuchi and Tenchi, at full attention. With Richi walking beside her, Hinata, even dressed in the type of top she was, braved the cold. It really didn't seem to bother her that much. As the girls walked around the snow-covered village, beneath the pure, white moonlight, Hinata felt strangely revitalized. Richi looked out of the corner of her eye at the girl...She was so beautiful and in the depths of her blue eyes, she saw an amazing strength.

"Hinata-Sama...You may not believe me, but...I was your mother's apprentice."

Hinata looked at Richi who just stopped to stare up at the moon as if in great thought. She smiled a little bit...

"I was only about two at the time when Yondaime-Sama began training with me. I'd...always cry when she she beat me, not even using full strength whenever we trained. Your mother was held in the highest regard, Hinata-Sama..."

Richi looked at Hinata as if remembering the past with a sad smile.

"When she was pregnant with you, I was SO excited to meet you. I couldn't wait. But then, she left to go to Konohagakure to have the baby with the man who had been promised to her by her parents. I'd often heard my parents talking about how her husband was all wrong for her. How she should have married the Yondaime of Konoha at the time."

Hinata didn't need a history lesson to know she was obviously talking about Minato Namikaze: Naruto's father. Richi sat down on a bench with a sigh.

"She promised that once she had the baby, she'd return to Yukigakure. She went so far as to make sure that there would be a suitable replacement for her while she was gone. She'd always been friends with the Hyuuga clan, so, she chose an old, childhood friend: Hizashi Hyuuga, as opposed to his twin brother and your father, Hiashi."

Hinata wondered how Neji would take the news that even for a short time, his father was a Yukikage. She almost giggled at the thought of his shock.

"My sisters weren't even born yet by the time Kyuubi attacked Konohakagure. Hizashi knew his sister-in-law and brother and other family members were there, so he sent our best troops to help fend off the Kyuubi. However, Hizashi had recieved a note from Hiashi saying to use Byakko to help. Hiazashi Hyuuga was thankfully, no fool. I remember him telling the villagers of Yukigure it was too dangerous to use Byakko and face him off with Kyuubi. Everyone agreed, all but one. Someone, though, we never learned who, tried to sacrafice a child at the time to infuse Byakko's soul into, that child's body. It failed...Miserably. So, while Kyuubi was attacking Konoha, Byakko was attacking Yukigakure. If that isn't fucked up irony, I don't know what is."

Hinata tried processing all of this. Her ties to Yukigakure ran deeper than she ever thought. Richi sighed, leaning back a little and staring back up at the moon.

"We lost our entire village and the only reason I am alive to tell this tale is because the night before Byakko attacked, my father and mother took me on a training trip. When we returned...our entire village was desecrated. Hizashi had left to take care of his child and wife. At the time, my mother was pregnant with Atchi. We did our best to survive, my mother later giving birth to Tenchi and Kuchi. Our parents died when bandits came looking for anything left to loot. I kept my sisters safe and we've lived here ever since then. We waited and waited for Shioriko-Sama to return...But, we heard when that the Yondaime Hokage died...somehow, we knew she wasn't coming back."

"How...?" Hinata inquired sadly.

Richi smiled sadly when Hinata finally sat beside her.

"...There are these birds called Lovebirds. When one of them dies, the other just sorts of...gives up living because it would be much more painful to live without their mate. I may have been young, but I know how dedicated Shioriko-Sama was to Minato-Sama...We finally received word that she died, but left behind a beautiful baby girl."

Hinata blushed a little, but couldn't ignore the crushing pain in her heart. Why did her mother have to suffer so much?

"It wasn't until just recently that your father came to us with a proposal: If we could get the at the time, Yonnin, away from the village of Konoha for a little while, he promised he'd help us rebuild our village and make us prosperous again. I instantly recognized the man as THE Hiashi Hyuuga who'd married Shioriko Natsuyuki-Sama. We didn't ask why he wanted the Yonnin away from the village, we were just happy to be around other people again. It made the loneliness sort of...melt away. So, I had Tenchi send out an S.O.S to your village. Even after we had the boys, we knew we were doing something wrong, but we promised to heal them once Hiashi delivered us his end of the bargain."

Richi buried her face in her hands.

"How foolish of us...I knew Hiashi was really up to no good when he kept asking what had happened to Byakko since the night of the attack and when was the next alignment to happen. It...wasn't until he tried a spell to summon Kyuubi from Naruto's body I knew we'd gotten in way too deep."

"Wh...what?!"

Hinata remembered well what happened to Gaara when Atasuki managed to exhume Shukaku from his body...And had it not been for Chiyo-Sama...Gaara would have still been dead to this very day.

"Is...is THAT what happened to Naruto-Kun?!"

Hiashi grew so furious with trying, he gave up. He used his worst attacks to beat Naruto defenseless, however...that, I blame myself for."

"What do you mean...?" Hinata asked slowly.

Richi opened her hand, revealing a small, ball of dark-purple chakra.

"This...is something Yondaime taught me. It's a chakra used to seal away any type of demon inside of a person so that it has no influence over that person whatsoever. I had did as I was asked and used this power to keep Naruto bound, unaware of the fact that Hiashi only wanted to be able to beat him and not have Kyuubi kill him. Hiashi got his wish, but...I was so mortified with what had happened to him, ESPECIALLY because I knew that this was the son of the man Yukikage-Sama really loved...!"

Tears began cascading down her face and shudders racked her body.

"I...I took Naruto's body and I delivered it to the gates of Konoha before Hiashi had returned there...But, I realized too late Hiashi had gotten to him first. Had it not been for a few passing ANBU, Hiashi would have finished off Naruto right then and there."

Hinata bit her lip, rage burning in her soul. She KNEW her father was no saint...but to stoop so low as to lie to Konoha and make himself a hero? Hell...that was him on a good day. Richi lowered her head and tried wiping away her tears.

"I'm so sorry...for everything I have done to you and your family. I have shamed Shioriko-Sama, I'm positive of that...But...I instantly knew who you were when you arrived with your squad earlier today. I'm sorry it took me so long to finally approach you in a not-so-hostile way...I was just a little...afraid."

Richi dropped to her knees, untying her blade from behind her back and threw it at Hinata's feet.

"I will humbly accept death...I know it is more than I deserve, but...I feel this will be my retribution."

Hinata picked up the blade, the metal reflecting the moonlight as she unsheathed it.

"Go get your sisters." Hinata said.

"Wh...what?" Richi said, looking up.

She looked at the woman holding the blade before her. She was dressed in black, save for the fishnet material that covered her stomach area. Her long, black hair wafted gently in the wind whilst her powder-blue eyes seemed almost enhanced by the moonlight she was standing in.

"Go retrieve your sisters and bring them back here."

Richi, despite being older, did as she was told. Her sisters were more than horrified when they returned to the large tree Hinata was standing under, blade in hand. Richi, Atchi, Kuchi and Tenchi all dropped to their knees. They were more than terrified, especially Atchi who'd hoped she could dedicate her life to protecting Hinata. They waited for the blade to come down upon their head, looking in surprise when they saw it fall to the ground. They looked up, seeing Hinata's eyes soft and gentle.

"I will accept your retribution in the form of allowing me to train you to become better kunoichi than you already are."

"Wh...what...?" Richi asked, tears starting to pool in her eyes once more.

Hinata looked up and smiled.

"I don't make empty promises...If you promise you will do your best to right all of the wrong you've done, I promise, I will have people up here to help you rebuild. I already know two people who would be willing to move up here! I...will also promise you the protection of Byakko."

The girls looked at one another as if confirming with the other what they'd just heard.

"How? How can you do that...?! Byakko hasn't been seen in almost sixteen, seventeen years!" Kuchi debated.

Hinata smiled at them and kneeled down.

"I keep my promises. I can't tell you now, but I promise, Byakko's protection and my help for your loyalty to me is all I ask."

The girls could feel a warming emotion spreading towards them. Hinata was not manipulitive, she was fair and forgiving. She was not going to take advantage of a situation she knew she could easily walk away from. Richi bowed her head once more.

"A...Arigato, Hinata-Sama...!"

She watched her sisters bow and Hinata blushed.

"Um...could...you guys stop the bowing? It's a little...well...embarassing..." she blushed.

The sisters stood up, looking at Hinata who could only smile.

"We are going to be leaving for Konohagakure first thing tomorrow morning. We have to get you fitted with new weapons and you also have to reverse the damage you have done to my friends."

"Ohhh...yeah..." Kuchi smiled sheepishly.

Hinata giggled as they headed to the hut she and Atchi had been staying in. As they walked, Atchi whispered,

"Will you please say you'll be our Yukikage?"

Hinata could only smile softly.

"I'm not sure, but I will let you know when this is all said and done."

Atchi sighed a little, hoping she'd stay. But, by the time Hinata had fallen asleep, she'd already made her decision.
