Goodbye Isn't Forever...Is It?
Tears slowly pooled in the corners of her eyes before spilling down her face. Sakura, standing behind Hanabi with her hands on the younger Hyuuga's shoulders, was more than surprised when Naruto groaned before slowly opened his eyes. His lead lolled to the side, his blue eyes locking with Hinata's soft, powder-blue ones.
"H...Hinata...." he rasped.
"Naruto-Kun...!"
She fell crying onto his chest. He'd been here the entire time?! Sobs racked her delicate body, but softened when she felt Naruto's hand gently stroking her soft, dark hair. Hinata sat up a little, looking at him, a smile on her face as his, but there was something different about it...
"Hanabi, I thought you promised not to tell anyone I was here." he said with a small grin.
"She didn't! We followed her..." Sakura admitted.
Naruto raised his bandaged hand to stroke Hinata's soft face.
"It's been forever..." he rasped further.
"Almost a month...atleast, since we've spoken." Hinata nodded.
Sakura kneeled down beside Hinata and looked at Naruto. Almost every bone in both arms and both legs were broken, yet here he was moving both around just fine, if not a little slower than usual.
"Hanabi, I think I should take you home." Sakura nodded with a hint of a smile.
Hanabi looked at Sakura who winked. Hanabi nodded with a blush.
"Naruto-San, Oneechan, I'm going home now."
Hinata stood up and turned to look at Hanabi. She wrapped her arms around her younger sister which made tears rise to Hanabi's eyes.
"Thank you so much, Hanabi-Chan...! You really are the best sister a girl could ever ask for! Thank you so, so much...!" Hinata sobbed.
Hanabi hesitantly wrapped her arms around her older sister, feeling a strange warmth flowing through her small body when she did. It only made Hanabi cry even more as she hugged her sister.
"Y...you're welcome, oneechan..."
Composing herself a little more, Hinata looked Hanabi in the eye, her hands on her younger sister's shoulders.
"You did a wonderful thing, Hanabi-Chan. Thank you. Thank you very much."
Hanabi blushed, looking on her sister with much more respect and love than she'd ever felt. Sakura smiled and left the shrine, taking Hanabi with her. Hinata kneeled down, looking at Naruto who was smiling at her.
"You still have my jacket...I'm glad."
Hinata blushed with a smile, taking his hand.
"I'm just glad you're safe. Naruto-Kun...why did you leave without saying anything?"
Naruto sighed, turning his head away from her.
"I'd...rather not talk about it."
Hinata was surprised and hurt when he rolled over on his side, turning his back to her. She couldn't see the worried look on his face, nor could he see the hurt look on hers.
"N...Naruto-Kun? What's wrong...? Don't you know how much I love you? Don't you know how much we've been worried about you...?!"
She tried to not let her voice crack with the onset of tears, but it was hard. Why was he being so cold all of a sudden?
"How's Hikaru?" he asked, not even rolling over to look her in the eye.
He sounded so cold when he'd said it, she almost didn't believe the same man that lay beside her was the one she married. She sighed, looking down, her entire body suddenly shivering.
"H...he's fine. Naruto-Kun, I...I've accepted the position as Yukikage in Yukikagure."
Naruto sat up, turning around to look at her with a glare.
"Without telling me...?!"
"I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE YOU WERE!" She yelled backed.
Naruto looked at her then looked down.
"You'd be safer there anyway...Why wait a week, you should just leave now, Hinata-Chan. Take Hikaru with you while your at it." He glared.
Hinata was lost, but she'd be damned if she cried. How selfish...! He'd gone back to his old, cold ways just like THAT!
"What is wrong with you, Naruto-Kun?!" she demanded.
"YOU ARE! Why do you think I only let Hanabi know where I am?! GOD you're annoying! Just get away from me, Hinata Hyuuga!"
Hinata gasped, feeling her entire world suddenly seeming to crack like glass around her. His blue eyes that were once filled with love were filled with nothing but hate and contempt for the woman they gazed upon. She sighed, trying not to cry.
"I...if that's how you really feel, N...Naruto-Kun...I...I will leave...I just don't understand why you hate me all of a sudden...Why don't you want me by you, Naruto-Kun? You...you don't know how much I've wanted to see you...To hold you..."
Naruto had reached his tolerance limit. Hinata barely had time to move before she found herself yanked forcefully by her hair. She winced as she was pulled eye-to-eye with Naruto's burning blue ones. A dangerous, malicious smirk graced his face.
"You want me to hold, you, Hinata? Is that it...? Fine. I tried to get you to leave, but you wouldn't listen, so..."
Hinata gasped as she found herself yanked onto the futon with strength she didn't know Naruto even had. In a matter of seconds, she found her arms pinned over her head by his hands.
"Naruto-Kun, stop it! Stop it now!!!! Please!"
She tried for some escape, but he held her tighter. As he hovered over her, he unzipped his jacket on her body, revealing her to only be wearing the strapless black top. He reached beneath the futon, keeping her hands pinned above her head with just one, strong hand. Hinata's eyes widened when she saw a kunai in his hand. With lightning fast agility, he ripped the front of her shirt, revealing her soft breasts to him.
"Naruto, damare...! Please...!"
Naruto saw the tears falling down her cheeks, but he didn't care. He had to get his point across...He needed her to leave him the hell alone. Roughly grabbing her breasts, to a point where even Hinata herself didn't enjoy it. He moved so fast, his hands were all over her. She closed her eyes and began whispering,
"Please...please...please....please...."
Naruto looked at Hinata, looking at his work. Hinata was whimpering, her body in a fetal position. Her jacket was completely ripped off, her shirt, shredded, her beautiful hair surrounding her haphazzardly and her capris pulled just so off her hips. He could tell she was crying...He grit his teeth and sighed. He went to touch her, but he found her couldn't. Hinata felt his weight move and she looked up at him as he stood, tall and strong, dressed only his favorite orange pants. She didn't understand it...What had she done to upset him so muor someone with two broken legs and arms, he was standing just fine. He ripped the bandages off his arm, his head, around from his neck until there were no longer bandages for him to wear. He hovered over Hinata, staring down at her. Her eyes were asking, BEGGING, for answers. He couldn't give her any.
"Hinata-Chan, don't come looking for me. Take Hikaru...take our son...and leave Konoha. I'd rather not let it end like this, so..."
"NO!"
She ran behind him, wrapping her arms tightly around him.
"Selfish bastard...! Why are you doing this?! Stop it! Stop it now!"
Her grip was tight...Hinata knew if she let him leave, this could very well be the last time they ever met. She'd die first before she let that happen.
"Don't you love me?! Don't you trust me?! It's like you've become a completely different person...! Tell me what's wrong, Naruto-Kun! Just..."
She whimpered and all but screamed,
"DON'T IGNORE ME, DAMMIT! I've worked hard for your attention all my life! Don't just walk away...don't...ignore me..."
Naruto grit his teeth, balling up his fist. Hinata braced for the worst. He'd have to beat her to death before she let him walk away from her again. He released a sharp sigh.
"As long as you are protected by Byakko...I can't...we shouldn't be together."
Hinata's eyes widened. She released him and he turned around, looking at her. In the dim light provided by the alter candles, he looked into her eyes. Maybe she didn't know this...but her eyes had changed a little. They were a little more slanted than they were round...almost like a cat's.
"I need you to understand something, Hinata...Kyuubi and Byakko cannot coexist together..."
"The hell they can't! I don't know anything about Byakko and Kyuubi, but I know one thing, we've been together this entire time! Why can't we be together now...?!"
Naruto sigh, gently bracketing her face between his hands. Naruto watched as Hinata blushed and he chuckled a little to himself. He sighed and shook his head.
"Hinata...there is someone who wants to hurt you. You know this."
Hinata swallowed nervously and nodded.
"I...I do...it's my father..."
"Hinata, return to Yukikagure. All I can tell you is this: The longer you stay around here in Konoha, the easier it is to discover that you have Byakko inside of you. So, I'm telling you this NOW: Go to Yukigakure. Become it's leader. Rebuild your place where your roots were first planted...and take Hikaru with you."
"NO! I won't...!"
"Dammit, Hinata...! He's planning something and it all involves you, me and Hikaru! I won't let you put my son in any danger!"
The sliding of the shrine door startled both of them. Hinata's eyes widened when she saw it was both Richi and Atchi. Naruto glared at the girls, but Hinata stepped forwards, out of his embrace.
"Girls! How did you find me...?"
"It is our business as your bodyguards to know where you are at all times, Yukikage-Sama. We're sorry..." Atchi bowed.
Hinata sighed a little, looking at Naruto.
"N...Naruto-Kun...these girls are from Yukigakure...I know you've met them, but I can promise you they mean no harm."
Naruto could have objected a million times, over, but he could see how dedicated these girls were to Hinata and how respectful they were. Naruto sighed a little.
"Hinata...go back to Yukigakure. I don't know what Hiashi Hyuuga is planning, but..."
He put his hand to her face and sighed.
"I don't know what I'd do if you got hurt...I'd never be able to forgive myself."
"But what about you, Naruto-Kun?! You can always come and hide out in Yukikagure!"
He shook his head.
"No...I'm sorry, Hinata-Chan. This is the best for both of us. I'm sorry."
"But...! NO! I refuse...I won't leave you here by yourself!"
Naruto took off his favored necklace and placed it in Hinata's hands.
"It's a promise I will see you again...someday."
She knew there was no talking him out of this. She clenched her eyes shut as tears cascaded down her face. Why? Why was it ending like this? They couldn't get a divorce because of the Binding Act since it'd been performed by Tsunade herself. So...what? She'd be a single mother now? Yukikagure wasn't far from Konoha at all, but who's to say Naruto would be there whenever she visited? Hesitantly, slowly, she wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her lips to his. He placed his arms around her waist, taking one hand and placing it on the back of her head. Both Richi and Atchi both blushed and turned their heads away, nevermind the fact they were all standing in a shrine of the fourth. He was either rolling in his grave or smirking. Or grinning. All three suited Minato Namikaze when you thought about it. Naruto broke the kiss when with a sigh.
"I love you, Hinata-Chan."
She nodded, whispering against his lips,
"I love you too...Naruto-Kun."
He released her and looked at Richi and Atchi.
"...Protect her and my son with your lives."
They both bowed.
"With our lives!" they repeated.
He remained standing in the center of the alter as the two girls escorted Hinata out, she turned around and looked at him. This wasn't how things were supposed to turn out....
"Naruto-Kun...how long does goodbye last?"
Both Richi and Atchi tried not to cry. They had to be strong to support their leader. Naruto looked away from her with a sigh.
"I...don't know."
"Then...I...I...won't say it." she shook her head with a saddened smile.
The girls turned to leave, closing the door behind them. Naruto sighed, dropping to his knees. He laid back down on the futon and sighed. How was it in the end, he was always alone...?
"Father...I did do the right thing, didn't I...?"
He could faintly hear someone walking away from the shrine doors, assuming it was Hinata. He rolled over, falling into a troubled sleep. Hinata...on the other hand, walked ahead of her guards. She looked up at her mother's grave, seeing a familiar figure standing there. He waved at her and before Richi or Atchi could stop her, she headed up the hill to a familiar, grinning source.
"Hinata-Sama...oh, I mean, Yukikage-Sama."
"Jiriya-Sama..." Hinata smiled while trying to catch her breath.
Jiraiya looked at Hinata and sighed, putting his hands on her shoulders.
"Hinata...listen to Naruto. Leave Konoha and take up residence in Yukikagure. While your father may know you are there, he will have no reason to seek you out for he does not know you hold Byakko in your soul, nor..."
He reached for the pendant around her neck. He sighed.
"...does he know of the power of the pendent you possess."
Hinata sighed, looking at the pendant resting beside the necklace she had.
"Will you give this back to Tsunade-Sama for me, Jiraiya-Sama?" Hinata sighed.
Jiraiya took the necklace with a small sigh.
"Will you be alright, Hinata-Chan?"
Hinata shook her head,
"I have no choice but to be. Yukikagure needs me...Hikaru needs me. I don't know what my father is planning, but..."
Jiraiya sighed heavily, looking at the young girl. That's exactly what she was: A YOUNG GIRL. So much responsiblity thrust upon her...Jiraiya looked at the two guards at the bottom of the hill.
"Hinata...go. Take this week to brace yourself and heal. Konoha will always be your home, just remember that."
Hinata nodded, hugging Jiraiya despite the fact she knew she'd see him once more before she left. As she descended down the hill and out of the gates of the cemetery, Jiriaya sighed, looking towards Minato's shrine where Naruto was currently in hiding and healing. He'd heard him ask his father if he'd done the right thing...Jiraiya thought so. He looked at the grave he stood next to with a sigh.
"Well, Shioriko-Sama...I was sort of hoping their tales would end happily. I'd never imagined them being pulled apart like this."
The wind blew gently causing the swing behind to creak. He turned around, seeing the figure of Shioriko sitting there on the swing. She smiled before disappearing once more. Jiraiya sighed, a smile of his own.
"Then again...Hinata-Chan IS your daughter and Naruto is Minato's son...maybe all will be well in the future, but for now...I see a lot of heartache for your child."
Or, he thought to himself as he turned to look at Minato's shrine...both children.
