Busy with the Bees – The World According to Maito Gai

:::I wish to apologize for taking nearly a week to update. I have a new story under the misc. Anime heading and it was overriding my other thoughts. If anyone here is familiar with the Vandread show, you may find it interesting. It is a difficult series to work with because though it is an interesting theme, the show misses points about human nature, and it makes me crazy, but i tried to stay with the characters they have given. No OC's for me.:::

48: Busy with the Bees – The World According to Maito Gai

Suzumebachi continued to sleep, not realizing that the entire time Naruto was seated near her, he was reliving the time they had spent in the Village of the Hidden Stone.

After a week of her company, Naruto was becoming accustomed to the wide range mood swings that the bee woman went through as part of her normal life and he was becoming even more assured that she was not truly capable of raising a child, especially one of his.
He had worked out a method from the start and though he was not truly reneging on his deal, he wasn’t about to make anyone pregnant without first knowing if his child would be safe with its mother-to-be.
And the Kamizuru woman was definitely not stable enough to bear an Uzumaki offspring. Not right now, at least.
So, after the week of his vacation was over, he prepared to wish her goodbye and good luck with only a modicum of guilt and the assurance that none of his child bearing seed had implanted within her.
The woman was not in evidence as he packed his things and looked over the room’s interior.
It had been an odd vacation, and he hoped none of his friends back home asked him about it, especially Sasuke or Jiraiya. Those two would surely see through his lies about how he had passed his time.
He lifted his bag and started for the door as it opened and the missing girl stood in his way.
“Suzu, there you are. I thought for a minute you weren’t going to say goodbye to me.” He said, sounding as sincere as he could.
“Why are you leaving, Naruto.” She said, calling him by his given name for the first time since they had introduced themselves.
“I can only stay for a week. You knew that. I have to leave or I won’t be home in time and they will send someone to look for me. I don’t want them to think I’ve gone missing. Why would you ask me that, Suzu?” he added for good measure.
“I just thought. . . . . . Didn’t you like it here, with me? I mean, you seemed to be having a good time, and I felt like you . . . . liked me.” She said, blushing prettily.
“I do like you, Suzu. But that was the deal. One week. I have to go home.” He reminded her.
“But you could stay. If you wanted, I could get you assigned as a Hidden Stone Ninja. It would be great. You are a Jounin, so they would love to have you.” She began, “Don’t you want to stay, Naruto?” and she stepped closer, running her hands over his shirt and playing with the buttons, coyly.
Naruto was prepared for this, and as she toyed with his clothing he steeled his resolve.
“I have to go home, Suzu. It isn’t a matter of just changing my village. I have people who care about me, and I care about them. They are my family and I could never desert them. Try to understand. It was your deal, Suzu. You set the rules for this. No commitment, no fatherhood. I was to stay for a week and try to impregnate you. I am going home now.” He said and her fingers froze where they were.
“But, that was before.” She said, tears starting down her cheeks.
“Before what, Suzu?” he asked.
“Before I fell in love with you. Now I don’t care about anything. If you have to go, take me with you. Please, Naruto. Don’t leave me behind, I love you.” She begged.
Naruto swallowed hard knowing that this was inevitable. The degree of her mental stability was destined to drive her to this and he had to break away before she was lost.
“No. You don’t love me, Suzu. You don’t understand the word. I have to go.” And he pushed her away and walked out the door.
Her cries followed him out to the street and he could have sworn that he heard them all the way to the border of the rock country.

“And then to have you come here and see me with Sasuru. It must have broken you all over again. I’m sorry, Suzu. I couldn’t love you, I already loved Sasuke.” He said, as she slept on. “I wonder how much of that you will remember when you wake once more. I’ll hope that it is all lost to you, so that you can move on.” And he sighed as he rose from the chair hearing his son call him to the living room as he and Itachi returned.

Maito Gai was possessed with an idea.
It had been born in the small of the morning and grown in his head during the day. He had worked out all of the details and was even now searching for any possible snags to keep him from his goal.
He wanted to tell Itachi exactly how he felt about him and mere words were insufficient.
A display of some sort was in order and he would need help to pull this off.
Gai hurried down the street to the home of his friends, Iruka and Kakashi. The brunet opened the door and looked at Gai with an odd expression on his face.
“Gai. What is it? You look like you’ve seen a ghost.” Iruka said, noting the frantic look of the man in his doorway. “Come in. Kakashi!” he called behind himself as he waved Gai into the room.
Gai walked past him and toward the living room of the small house. “No, no. I’m fine. I need your help. You too, Kakashi. I want to have a party. I want to invite everyone and have them present when I tell Itachi how much I love him. Will you help me?” He said, his excitement beginning to fill the room, as only Gai was capable.
“Um, sure Gai. A party is a great idea. No one has had a real great party in months.” Iruka said.
Kakashi leaned against the wall and tapped his finger to his chin. “Are you sure that Itachi is ready to give this kind of information to the public, however?”
“Kakashi-san? What are you saying?” Gai asked stopping his movements in mid-Good Guy Pose.
“Just that it may be something that Itachi does not want to deal with. You do realize that the public expects the Uchiha’s to rekindle their family. If Itachi is with you, there will be no little Sharingan users born for him. This could cause a lot of hardships for him in the public eye, and he has only recently been exonerated in their eyes. This may be too much for an Uchiha. They are a proud family, you know.”
Gai’s face did a flop and his arms drooped to his sides. “Do you concur, Iruka-san?” Gai asked.
“Well, I am aware of what pain can come from ‘coming out’. I would never want someone to force it upon me, and when Kakashi and I agreed to do it, we had to weigh all of the negatives against the positives first. It isn’t that we would disapprove, but do you realize that I had to give up my teaching job first and Kakashi has been passed over for quite a few missions because of it. There are those who will not hire him due to our relationship. He was also scratched from teaching a new team of Genin because their parents didn’t approve.” Iruka said, and Kakashi looked away from the scrutiny of the other man.
“Is this true, My Rival? Has this happened to you?” Gai asked waiting to catch Kakashi’s eye.
“Oh, I wouldn’t worry too much, Gai. Most of the people in town think you are gay anyway. You haven’t had a problem getting work, have you?” Kakashi said making light of the situation once again.
“I must admit to noticing a job or two that I felt would have better suited you or I, going to younger less experienced men. I thought it was to give them a chance to prove themselves, but perhaps. You have given me much to think about. I will have a talk with Itachi about these things. But, I still want to have a party. I think the village needs one.” Gai said. “Perhaps we can say it is for the anniversary of Itachi’s return. He has been home one year now. The celebration of the success of the Dainichi Sharingan!” Gai announced, once more in his good guy pose.
Iruka winced and Kakashi smiled behind his mask.
Gai was Gai after all. No one would ever deny that.
