Why Orange?

I know that this should be an update an not an author's rant but I'm pissed and think that this should be brought up. One of my favorite authors was flamed so badly that she decided to quit. That's right she quit in the middle of some damn good stories because a few people with their heads up their (censored) decided to harrass her. I do not blame her at all, no all of my ire and all of the blame is fixed firmly on the flamers.

I don't care if people flame me personally because I have lived through the worst hell of face-to-face, live and in person insults, mocking, and ego-crushing that you can imagine so the faceless flamers on the internet are small miniscule peanuts to me. I'm just so used to people I see daily doing it that I don't notice it from anyone anymore. But other people have, thankfully, not been through that so flames are a big deal and very painful for them.

Therefore I say, if you have a complaint about someone's writing be TACTFUL for sweet mercy's sake!!!! And by tactful I mean first stroke their ego then start the complaint as an attempt to help and be specfic with just what bothered you, like if it's character bashing and you think that it's juvenile and brings the story down, let them know that you don't think it adds anything to the story but if you just don't like it because you like the character then, keep your mouth shut and your keyboard still because some people don't like the character and find the bashing entertaining, and be specfic with how you think it could have been better by saying how you would handle it or asking them to add another element, finish by saying that your opinion is just that, an opinion, and doesn't matter all that much since it's their story not yours.

EXAMPLE: Hi! I really like the way this story is going and think you have talent but one thing kind of bugs me. The way you keep bashing Sasuke doesn't really do anything but make me feel you hate him, do you think you could manage to have the bashing affect Sasuke so that he changes for the better instead? I really think that would make your awesome story even better but that's just me, if you don't think it would work then just ignore my suggestion cause it's your story and you should handle it the way you feel needs to be handled. END EXAMPLE

And if you can't be tactful then follow the old adage, IF YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING NICE DONT SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!!!!

Also I've seen people flame stories chapter after chapter and to them I say, if you don't like the story from the start don't read it for pete's sake! You constantly flaming a story doesn't do anything but waste your own time.

Okay I'm done with my rant now and will just finish by saying thank you for reading this rant.
