Operation: Konoha Lockdown!
(A/N: To Kenshin, yep, it can be done, it's just very...um...strenuous on the students, lol! Anyway, read on to find out! And thanks again everyone for the reviews!!!!!!)
"ASAGI-CHAN!"
Hinata jumped in the middle of the battle arena, falling a good thirty feet before landing with the grace of a cat on her own two feet. She jumped right in front of one of her prized pupil before she slammed into the arena wall. Hinata kneeled with the very injured student in her arms, looking up at her opponent who just stood there with no remorse in his eyes. The whimpers coming from the girl in her arms. Dressed only in a light pink kimono with biker gloves and her red hair all over the place, the young girl grit her teeth and threw her head backwards as another pain ripped through her body. Kiba sighed, looking at the one who'd dealt the damage: he stood a foot taller than Asagi, making him a five-foot terror with black hair and blue eyes, born of neither Konoha nor Yukigakure. He was a child of Sungakure, trained in the art of not showing any emotion by Gaara who stood watching beside Naruto. Kiba raised his hand and yelled,
"THE WINNER IS RAKURO OF SUNAGAKURE!"
Gaara sighed a little, being reminded of his own exams once upon a time.
"Rakuro!" Gaara said without even raising his voice.
The boy looked up and upon seeing his teacher, with his arms crossed over his chest, knew what he had to do. While Hinata watched as her favorite student was laid onto the stretcher by the Konoha medical nins, she gasped upon seeing the Suna boy walking over to the stretcher. Asagi, a young girl of Yuki who reminded Hinata very much of herself, opened her eyes slowly, revealing them to be a soft, pink color.
"Sorry...Asagi-San. You...did well."
Asagi smiled a little but nodded.
"You as well...Rakuro-San..."
Hinata nodded with a smile and the medical nins took her to the infirmary. Rakuro looked at the female Yukikage with a blush when she smiled at him.
"Thank you, Rakuro-San. You did very, very well."
Gaara could only watch the interaction between Hinata and Rakuro before Naruto sighed.
"Things are getting dangerous, you know...Two exams in one day? This is nothing like when we were kids. Goddamn Hiashi..."
"I've been to the infirmary. Two of mine, two of yours, two of Temari's and only one of Hinata's. I say we stop these exams. These are nothing like exams, they're more like stamina tests. We atleast had a few weeks to rest inbetween all of the exams." Gaara sighed, resting his arms on the railing.
Naruto couldn't have agreed more. The abuse these kids were taking, hell, he should just make them all Chuunin and be done with it. Out of the three teams, making twelve pupils all total, from the four cities, only five remained and ironically enough, it was Hinata who had the upper hand, seeing how she only had two students as opposed to everyone else's one student and even Asagi proved to be a challenge. Naruto groaned. He had a headache that just wouldn't go away.
"So, who's next on the roster?"
"Well..."
"GAARA! NARUTO!" a panicked Shikamaru yelled.
Both turned around only to see Shikamaru panting.
"Oi! What are you doing here? You're supposed to be watching the fights between the final Suna, Konoha and Chikyu competitors!"
Shikamaru shook his head, finally catching his breath.
"It was a total blow out! Konoha, Chikyu, Suna AND Yuki have all been eliminated!"
"What?!" Naruto raged.
It wasn't until Sakura ran over to Kiba down below and whispered something in his ear.
"N...no way." Kiba's eyes widened.
Sakura nodded the rushed off back to the many injured who needed her. Kiba threw his hand up and got everyone's attention.
"AS OF RIGHT NOW, THE EXPELLED CITIES ARE YUKIGAKURE, SUNAGAKURE, KONOHAGAKURE AND CHIKYUGAKURE BY WAY OF ELIMINATION AND INABILITY TO CONTINUE BATTLING! THIS COMPETION IS OVER!"
"WHAT!??!?! HOW THE FUCK IS THAT POSSIBLE?!" Naruto yelled, almost throwing himself off of the top of the balcony.
Hinata's eyes widened and a fear gripped her throat.
"Where are all of the students?!"
"They're being rushed from the Forest of Death to the hospital right away."
Naruto and Gaara watched Hinata run out of the arena and rushed past Shikamaru. By the time they arrived at the hospital, there were several frantic nurses running around.
"It's a madhouse...!" Temari said, looking around.
"EVERYONE! OUT OF THE WAY! HE'S IN CRITICAL CONDITION!"
Sakura and several medical nins almost ran over the four Kages when they rushed past them, pushing a stretcher carrying a young shinobi with long, brown hair in a bloodied braid. Hinata's eyes widened and she screamed,
"MASAO!"
Naruto instantly grabbed Hinata from running after them, sighing when he was sad to recognize the name Hinata had screamed: Masao was originally born in Konoha, but was one of the few Hyuuga children that loved Hinata more than anything. When Masao was old enough, he trekked to Yukigakure where he began a rigorous training regiment under Hinata. Sakura and her fellow doctors rushed into the operating room with him and weren't heard from for over two hours. By then, Hinata, Temari, Gaara and Naruto were all sitting worriedly. While the majority of the students had already been treated and were resting in hospital beds, Masao was still in surgery. Hinata sighed, sipping the hot coffee. It wasn't until Shikamaru approached them with a saddened look. While he'd been there, he couldn't do anything to stop the seemingly invisable force that wrecking havoc on the exams. When he'd been asked what happened earlier, he couldn't even begin to say what had happened. Everything was going well until a strong wind seemingly came out of nowhere, carrying with it several kunai, weapons and injuring the students and even Shikamaru who's arm was wrapped in a sling and a bandage over his eye. As if that didn't make things worse, the ground began glowing a pure, white color. Shikamaru could only watch in horror as the students began brandishing their weapons and charging and attacking one another...and the ones who took the most damage from this sudden madness were Masao and his younger sister, who also used to be apart of the Hyuuga clan, both from Yukigakure. Shikamaru sat down beside Kiba who arrived just minutes before him.
"Shikamaru, how are you?" Hinata asked.
He grunted and nodded.
"I'll live. How's...?"
"We haven't heard anything." Gaara said flatly.
Shikamaru sighed once more and looked at Temari who'd been the second to witness the horror, however, she was lucky, arriving only minutes after it began. She had a small cut on her face, but nothing more, trying to stop her own students from attacking those of Hinata's. After ten minutes of the bloodshed, she and Shikamaru had finally subdued them, but even then, Masao tried to protect his younger sister. Temari was almost certain that Masao had gotten his fighting skills from Neji Hyuuga because of his stances he took. Temari managed to get to his sister, Reiko, before Masao hit the ground, bleeding from every inch of his body. Reiko, she was certain would be fine, however, the doctor had mentioned her mind had been broken by all of the carnage a shinobi who's training to becoming a Gennin should never see. Hinata jumped when Sakura walked out of the O.R, a solem look on her face. Hinata and the other Kages stood up and Sakura sighed.
"Ruptured spleen, bleeding in the frontal lobe of the brain and severe bleeding, both external and internal..."
Sakura lowered her head.
"We couldn't do anything..."
"NO!" Hinata screamed.
Naruto grabbed the collapsing Hinata as she sobbed against his chest, beating fiercly against it. Naruto sighed, holding her close while she sobbed almost hysterically and tried pulling away from him.
"LET ME SEE HIM!"
"HINATA, STOP IT!" Naruto yelled.
But she broke away from him, running into the O.R where one of the nurses was in the process of pulling the sheet over his face. Hinata broke down, crying over the young boy's body as she held the lifeless vessel in her arms against her chest.
"PLEASE! Masao! I'm so sorry I couldn't protect you...! I'm SO sorry...!"
As much as she wished it, he didn't respond, but lay limply in her arms. From the doors of the O.R, the other Kages stood, their heads lowered, tears even running down Temari's cheeks. The doctors went to escort the hysterical Hinata away from the body to prepare it for funeral arrangements, but Hinata refused to leave.
"LET ME GO! MASAO! MASAO OPEN YOUR EYES NOW! PLEASE!"
When Hinata's eyes rolled to the back of her head and her head went limp, falling forward, the doctors were sure she fainted.
"Hinata...!"
"OH MY GOD..." Sakura's eyes widened.
Sakura almost had to be the one to be caught as she almost went into a faint. The lifeless body on the table twitched before his eyes opened and he sat up, coughing and panting. He'd broken out into a cold sweat, feeling around his body.
"I...I'm alive...?!"
No one could believe their eyes and Shikamaru looked at Sakura.
"You're POSITIVE he was dead?"
"I AM, DAMMIT! No one could have survived that...!"
Hinata groaned a little, opening her eyes. The doctors helped her stand and she rushed over to Masao, even as weak as she was feeling.
"MASAO!"
She wrapped her arms around the young boy, a blush overcoming his cheeks. He wrapped his arms around her and whispered,
"A...arigato, Hinata-Sama..."
A few hours later, when Hinata was visiting her other pupil and Masao's sister, Sakura decided to talk to the Kages who were all sitting back in the waiting room. She sighed, sitting down with a cup of coffee.
"Several doctors confirmed it. Masao WAS in fact dead. I just finished taking his vitals...No head trauma, his spleen is fine...all of his cuts have almost completely healed."
By far, this was the most unheard of thing, with the exception of Chiyo when she revived Gaara from the dead, but even then, it was at the expense of her life. Hinata still had hers and was walking around just fine.
"So...what did Masao mean when he asked 'They're gone?'?" Temari asked.
"I asked him that. Apparently, he was talking about Death Angels. He said they were all dressed in black and escorting him to the gates of the Dead when wait for it..."
Sakura paused for dramatic effect and sighed,
"A large, white tiger appeared in front of the Death Angels and then, he said the Death Angels disappeared and the tiger looked at him. He got all blushy when the tiger transformed into HINATA-CHAN of all people and said, 'Come back'. And well...here he is."
"That HAS to be the power of Byakko, but it's unbelievable that the spirit inside of Hinata is able to bring back people back to life?" Naruto asked, biting his lip.
"Why not? I mean, we all saw first hand when Hinata had lost her entire arm, yet it reattached itself back to her body without a problem. If physical regeneration is apart of Byakko's powers, who's to say bringing people back from the dead isn't? For all we know...Hinata could be immortal. I mean, if we've witnessed this child brought back to life by Byakko, the exchange must have happened when Hinata held the child. If Byakko can bring another person back to life, I'll be willing to bet that Hinata, even on the bring of death, will not die."
When Sakura finished talking, everyone was left in a stunned stupor. Was it possible Hinata was immortal? Even so, Naruto wondered, it would be no wonder why Hiashi Hyuuga wanted to summon Byakko...
"But that still doesn't explain what happened in the Forest of Death." he said.
"Sasuke-Kun and a few ANBU and examining the area, but how you described it Shikamaru, it was white light and then, everyone started turning on one another, but more so, targeting Hinata's students..."
"Yeah...I don't mean to scare anyone, but anyone notice now the two kids that were attacked where from the Hyuuga clan AND Hinata's pupils?"
There was a silence that said the thought had in fact occurred to everyone. Coincidence? Highly doubtful.
"I hate to say it..." Naruto sighed.
He leaned forward, placing his elbows on his knees and folding his hands in front of his mouth with a sigh.
"...But Hiashi Hyuuga may be closer than we expected."
"Well, you're guess is right." A familiar voice said.
Sakura blushed when she saw Sasuke walking towards them dressed as an ANBU. God, even in some of the worst situations, he was so damn sexy. Sasuke tossed a small bag at Sakura which contained two, single pieces of long hair.
"I'd run a DNA test on those two hairs because we found them several hundred feet away from where this whole incident took place. See if they match anyone we know, but I think we already know who they belong to."
"Hell, why waste time on a DNA test?" Kiba said standing.
He closed his eyes for a moment and it wasn't until a scream came from down the hallway that confirmed what he was doing. Akamaru hurried into the waiting room, panting excitedly. Kiba grinned a little, promising to apologize to the receptionist who he was sure Akamaru had scared to death. Kiba pet the enormous dog's head.
"Chakra is better than any type of DNA test, but it works two-fold. Akamaru can smell the chakra and also tell who's bloodline it comes from. If he can't find an exact match, he'll find someone with the same bloodline and chakra giving us a clue who it might be. Lemme see the hair, Sakura-San."
Sakura handed Kiba the bag of two strands of hair and took out only one, holding in front of Akamaru.
"Okay, boy. Here's all you need to find out who has the chakra and what bloodline it comes from."
Akamaru sniffed the hair quickly and he instantly started panting. But...instead of heading out of the hospital, he rushed down the hallway where the patients were kept. Everyone quickly followed the large dog until it stopped in front of...
"Oh no..." Sakura's eyes widened.
Akamaru barked happily when he saw Hinata walking out of Reiko's room, a smile on her face.
"Akamaru-Chan!"
Hinata noticed all of her friends looking at her and was a bit confused.
"What's wrong? Did you guys want to see Reiko-Chan?"
Naruto sighed a little. As if he really needed to know who was responsible...
"Hinata-Chan, we need to talk..."
Minutes later, Hinata's eyes were wide with fear.
"S...so it....was....?"
"Hiashi Hyuuga. I'll run the hair for a more exact match, but I'm pretty sure Akamaru is right," Sakura sighed, leaning against the wall.
Hinata nodded, feeling her entire body go numb. Would her father go so far just to get to her?
"I...was once taught...in order to hurt your enemies, you go straight for their heart...You don't attack them physically, you do it mentally and emotionally. I'd never be able to do such a thing, so I ignored the teaching completely." Hinata sighed.
"It's because you aren't heartless like the bastard who taught you that." Naruto sighed and stood up.
Naruto was silent for a moment before gritting his teeth and balling up his fists.
"SASUKE!"
Sasuke's eyes widened, but as did everyone who was standing there.
"What is it?" he asked.
Naruto turned his blazing blue eyes on Sasuke and sighed.
"I want Konoha on lockdown!"
"LOCKDOWN?!" Sakura asked.
"You heard me! Make it so, Sasuke! I don't want anyone entering or leaving Konoha until we find Hiashi Hyuuga!"
Shikamaru and Kiba looked at one another, then looked at Sasuke. Sasuke chuckled a little and walked past Naruto.
"So, you're finally acting like a Hokage. You got it."
Shikamaru and Kiba stood up, following Sasuke and Shikamaru chuckled.
"A lockdown huh? Well, well, things are starting to get interesting."
"I'll inform the people at the gates." Kiba grinned.
Naruto turned to Sakura, Gaara, Hinata and Temari.
"Sakura-Chan, make sure the students from the exams are safe and on twenty-four-hour watch. For all we know, Hiashi could be ready to strike once more."
"I can have two medical ANBU stationed at each door in twenty minutes." Sakura nodded.
"Make it so." Naruto nodded with a smirk.
He looked at his fellow Kage and nodded.
"I'll send messengers to your cities and inform them of Konoha's status. I'm sorry to inconvenience you like this."
Temari put her hands on her hips and smirked a little.
"No problem...It's good to see you taking charge, shrimp."
Naruto smirked once more and nodded.
"Let's get Konoha safe and track down Hiashi Hyuuga. I want him brought to me immediately!"
Gaara and Temari headed out of the hospital to find messengers to deliver their messengers to their respected cities. Naruto looked at Hinata who looked very saddened by everything...And all because of her father. How had he gotten so strong? Was it because of his travels?
"N...Naruto-Kun, I'm so sorry...this is all because of my father..."
He shook his head and put his hand on her shoulder with a small smile.
"After I'm through with him, that man will never be able to harm ANYONE for as long as he lives."
"But what of the Hyuuga clan...? I don't want such a proud family to fall..."
Naruto's eyes widened a little and he sighed.
"I'm not sure what we can do about your family...but all that matters is that we finally bring Hiashi Hyuuga to justice."
Naruto turned to walk out of the hospital, but was surprised when Hinata grabbed his cloak. Her head was lowered, but she was shaking.
"Hinata-Chan...?"
"Send me to find my father."
"What?! No, I...!"
Hinata's head snapped up and she barked at him,
"I WANT TO BE THE ONE WHO BRINGS MY FATHER DOWN TO HIS PATHETIC KNEES!"
Naruto could barely believe the woman before him was Hinata. She released him and shook a little.
"I...I can't promise however...if...if you send me after him, I will not deliver his body alive."
Naruto was blown away at this point. Was she saying she would...But her own father? Naruto sighed, putting his hands on her shoulders.
"You'd better come back safe."
Hinata nodded, kissing him for a moment.
"I will. I'll be in Konoha and I will have Byakko protecting me."
"Don't you DARE let your father find that out...if he does, it's all over."
Hinata swallowed nervous as they continued to walk towards the Hokage's office.
"I'll make sure the children are all safe, be they mine or not." he sighed.
"Thank you, Naruto-Kun."
The city was already starting to go into it's lockdown phase. From where they stood, they could see the large gates of Konoha closing, yet people continued to go about their lives. Once both entrances to Konoha were safe guarded and the ANBU squad stationed at every possible entrance, they saw Sasuke walking towards them.
"That's it. We're ready to start looking for him. I've assembled Kiba, Shikamaru, Neji, who is on his way and Shino as the strongest ANBU Ops we have. Shino will be accompaning us because of the fact his insects can track chakra, Kiba because of his heightened senses, more so than Akamaru and Neji because he is more familiar with Hiashi Hyuuga's tactics. Shikamaru will be of great use because we are commensing the search at zero-hundred hours, or, midnight exactly and shadows are his specialty."
Naruto nodded and looked at Hinata as she stepped forward.
"I will be leading this mission."
Sasuke's eyes widened, but he had to admit, he did in fact enjoy seeing Hinata take charge. He had a lot of respect for the woman, indeed.
"Ready whenever you are, Hinata-San." Sasuke nodded.
Naruto groaned a little, nervous as hell, but Hinata was strong.
"Alright, I want you all to rendevouz in my office twenty minutes before the mission starts. You all are about to find out just how huge Konohagakure is." he chuckled.
While he wasn't crazy about sending Hinata on this dangerous mission, he knew he couldn't stop her. The next few hours were spent preparing and just twenty minutes to midnight, everyone met in Naruto's office just as planned. Naruto looked at everyone dressed in ANBU ops of an all-black jumpsuit with a white vest. Naruto sat behind his desk and sighed, wondering where the hell Hinata was.
"Alright...we'll start the briefing..."
The door flew open and Sakura entered.
"NARUTO-KUN!"
"What NOW?!" he asked.
He could feel it...there was something wrong.
"Hinata went ahead and started the mission!"
"WHAT?!" Naruto growled.
Sakura nodded.
"We tried to stop her, but she took out two of our other ANBU and went ahead into the Forest of Death!"
"We've gotta go after her...!" Kiba yelled.
Naruto sighed, remaining calm just as Tsunade had taught him.
"Listen up...this has just become a mission with two objectives: Find Hinata Hyuuga, rendevous with her and then find Hiashi Hyuuga...I don't ask that you kill him, however, if you must, then let it be so."
The ANBU nodded. Now things were getting serious. Naruto stood up and yelled,
"DEAD OR ALIVE, FIND HIASHI HYUUGA AND BRING HINATA HYUUGA HOME SAFE!"
