Notes: I had serious writer’s block this past week. It took me forever to get this chapter to sound right. Even now it still seems a little off and I can’t figure out what it is. Oh well. Here’s chapter 5. Have fun.
______________________________________________________
Previously…
Itachi chuckled softly. ‘And now the real fun begins little brother.’ He looked into his brother’s eyes and said in an amused voice. “I found your Naruto.”
______________________________________________________
Sasuke’s mind spun as his brother said the name of his love. “How do you know about Naruto?” He asked, mind still reeling. Was it possible that his brother remembered also? ‘And if does, will he go after Naruto again?’ Sasuke thought worriedly.
Observing the younger man’s face with amusement, Itachi had to hold back the chuckle that was threatening to slip past his lips. ‘Oh this is too funny little brother. Did you really think that I wouldn’t remember?’ Smirking, the elder muttered, “I remember one night you calling out the boy’s name.” ‘And a few other things.’ He added silently.
‘Ugh…great.’ Sasuke blushed before turning to completely face his brother. A spark of hope settled in his heart as his mind wandered to past memories of gleaming blonde hair and intensely blue eyes. “Naruto.” He murmured, the desperate longing evident in his voice. So lost was he in his memories of happier Naruto-filled days, Sasuke failed to notice that the other occupant of the room was striding towards him.
Drawing even with his brother, Itachi stared at the shorter boys face before reaching forward and flicking said boy in the forehead. ‘You really should pay attention little brother.’ He crooned inwardly. Itachi pulled back from Sasuke’s personal space resignedly. ‘Damn. He glazed over like a Krispy Kreme donut. Maybe I shouldn’t have told him.’ Snickering evilly he entertained the possibility of what would have happened if he had just dragged Sasuke to Naruto’s doorstep. ‘Of course with the redhead always around that little expedition might have ended in homicide.’
Sasuke was brought back to the land of the conscious when Itachi had flicked his forehead. ‘The hell is he snickering about…’ He thought snidely as he watched his brother’s face go lax due to whatever he found so entertaining. Clearing his voice loudly Sasuke pinned the elder of the two with an icy glare. “Well, since you know where Naruto is, do you mind telling me where I would find him?” He let some of the doubt creep blatantly into his voice. Sasuke was still deeply disturbed by the smirk that adorned his brother’s slightly feminine face. ‘He should cut his hair soon. He looks too… molestable?’ Visibly recoiling, Sasuke began to mentally beat away that particularly disturbing idle thought. ‘All though the one where Naruto is screaming out my name is very… appealing.’
Itachi watched his little brother visibly drool and almost laughed. ‘I’ve got one guess as to what he’s thinking.’ Itachi snorted loudly, seeking to regain his brother’s attention. “Well Sasuke, I would tell you where he was if I wasn’t afraid that the blonde’s ‘guard dog’ would have a fit.”
Frowning slightly, Sasuke stared at his brother, defiantly not liking where the conversation was possibly headed. “What do you mean by ‘his guard dog would have a fit’?” He asked dreading the answer.
Meanwhile, Itachi watched in sadistic pleasure as Sasuke’s posture became increasingly rigid and his brow began to twitch. ‘Not to happy about that bit of info, eh?’ He turned to leave, but not before adding quietly, “Because Gaara seems to be very possessive when it comes to Naruto.”
-- Downtown --
Eye twitching madly, Gaara continued to follow the blonde and pink haired blurs into the various stores. ‘Don’t they ever get tired?!!’ Shuddering, Gaara immediately halted and stared into the store that he had been about to enter. Eyes widening in horror, he held back the whimper that threatened to escape his tightly clamped mouth. ‘Oh no… not that store!’ Hissing loudly, he scurried off in the opposite direction towards Hot Topic, which was conveniently located close by. What was the name of the store that scared him so much? Claire’s.
Naruto watched amusedly as the red head hissed and ran away to the safety of another store. ‘About time he snapped out of it.’ Glancing about the small store, he spotted Sakura, whose hair practically blended in with the wall, and walked over to her. He didn’t know why he felt so comfortable around the girl. It was odd… as though he knew her long ago. The affection for her was…that of a sibling. She reminded him of what he long ago thought a sister would be like. Similar feelings had drawn him to
Gaara all those years ago. Except that with Gaara, those feelings had been stronger and less like sibling affection. ‘Much less.’ He added silently, blushing slightly as he remembered what had taken place earlier that morning. Naruto was brought out of his thoughts by Sakura tugging on his arm, leading towards the store exit all the while giggling excitedly.
Tugging on the blonde’s arm, Sakura led him out off the store and towards a local café where she had agreed to meet Ino. “Come on Naruto! We’re meeting my friend Ino and her boyfriend at Java Junction. It’s not that far but we still need to hurry!” Silently cursing her luck, Sakura began to tug at the boy’s arm harder. ‘Dammit! I can’t believe I lost track of the time.’ What was the reason that Sakura was so eager to get to the café? She simply wanted to show off her newly acquired male ‘friends’. ‘Ino may have a steady boyfriend, but I’ve got the eye candy.’ Inner Sakura snarled triumphantly. ‘Besides…’ She grinned wickedly. ‘Sasuke-kun will come to his senses soon enough and will be all over me.’
Naruto wrenched his arm out of Sakura’s grasp once he noticed the lack of a certain red head. “Hey Sakura-chan,” Naruto said, grabbing the girl’s attention. “I’ll meet you there, ok? I need to go find Gaara and convince him to come along. Which might take a bit of time. Go on ahead. I know where the place is.” Sakura nodded, told him he better show up, and then ran off in the direction of the café. “And now to find Gaara.” He said to himself, jogging in the direction of a dimly lit store that currently had some random metal song blaring. ‘Huh… I’ve heard that one before.’ Spotting his long time friend, Naruto walked over to the corner in which Gaara had been examining various pieces of body jewelry. ‘I wonder if he’s looking for a new tongue ring?’ Snickering, he wrapped his arms lightly around the taller boy’s waist.
Gaara was startled out of his reverie by two strong arms wrapping around his waist. Leaning into the shorter body behind him, he sighed contentedly, laying his arms atop the slightly tanner ones around his waist. ‘Naruto…’ Purring quietly, Gaara turned around in the blonde’s arms, brushing his lips teasingly over the shorter boy’s forehead. “What happened to the pink haired twit?” He murmured seductively, his warm breath ghosting over Naruto’s smooth cheek. Flushing at the tone of Gaara’s voice, the blonde looked away murmuring something softly in the cloth of Gaara’s shirt. Smirking into the hair that tickled his nose Gaara inhaled the intoxicating scent that was his Naruto. ‘Mine…all mine. No one will ever take you away from me.’ He hugged the boy possessively once more before letting go of him completely. “Well? What happened that girl…Sakura, I think it was?” He asked again, looking down at the blonde who was still flushed prettily.
As soon as Gaara had started purring, Naruto’s mind had gone blank. Completely and pleasurably blank. He was only vaguely aware of the red head saying something seeing as he was preoccupied with the feel of warm breath on his cheek. Snapping to attention, he mumbled something as he looked away. ‘Damn Gaara and his voice! Why does he have to sound so… so… fuckin’ seductive?!’ His breathing hitched as Gaara enfolded him in a possessive hug, before letting him go and asking his question again. “Well… she took off to that café we normally got to with Iruka-sensei and his boyfriends. She wants us to meet her and her friend Ino there. I told her that we’d be there soon. So… will you come? I don’t want to be alone.” His voice was almost pleading. ‘Why am I so afraid to meet Sakura-chan’s friend?’
Gaara’s eyes widened slightly at the tone in Naruto’s voice, but he gave in without a fight. The boy really seemed to want to go even if he was slightly apprehensive and Gaara was not about to ditch his little blond. Snorting in mock irritation Gaara walked towards the exit of the dark store, Naruto trailing along a sincere smile on his pretty face. “Thanks Gaara.”
-- Sasuke’s Apartment (just after Itachi left) --
“Gaara…Gaara!!! Why the fuck is Gaara with Naruto!!” Sasuke screamed soundly slightly hysterical. Pacing around his living room, he grabbed the first object he could reach and hurled it at his front door. Snarling viciously, Sasuke turned away and stalked into his room and threw himself upon his bed. ‘Not only do I find out that my brother remembers everything but then he tells me that Gaara is hanging around my Naruto! How dare that red haired bastard!’ Hissing and snarling into his pillow, Sasuke almost failed to hear his house phone ring. Key word being almost. Huffing indignantly and promising a slow death for the offensive caller, he got up from his now rumpled bed and stalked into his decently sized kitchen, practically tearing the phone off it’s cradle. “What?!” He snarled loudly. There was a pause and then the last voice Sasuke wanted to hear filtered through the earpiece of the phone. “Sasuke-kun? What’s wrong? Are you alright?” Groaning slightly at the sound of Sakura’s high-pitched voice, he answered frigidly, “I’m fine Sakura. What do you want?”
Pause. “Well… I was hoping that you would join me, Ino, and Shikamaru at Java Junction today. It’s a really nice day and we didn’t get to talk much last night. That and I met this cute little blonde boy named Naruto and this other guy named Gaara.” Sakura finished happily. She was determined that Sasuke show up so she could work her charm on the beautiful Uchiha. “Blonde boy? And he was named Naruto?!” Sasuke asked excitedly. ‘Naruto! Could it really be you?’ His heart ached in the hope that it really was his Naruto, while his body heated at the remembered touches. “Are you sure that the blonde is showing up?” He asked Sakura frantically as he rushed into his room and began to dress. Sakura was quiet for a few moments before answering that she was pretty sure that the boy would show up. “Ok. I’ll be there in a few minutes.” Hanging up the phone before the girl could say anything else Sasuke strode out the door failing to notice the shadow that immediately began to trail him.
Since Sasuke lived relatively close to the café that Sakura had said she was at he opted not to waste time driving since he would have probably gotten stick in traffic. He ran as fast as he could through the throngs of people that adorned the sidewalks. ‘Not that much farther.’ As he was closing in on the café’s doorway, he was suddenly blocked by the form of a young man a few inches shorter than himself. ‘Oh my god…’ Sasuke stopped immediately and stared longingly at the blonde who now stood now more than five feet away from him. “Naruto…” He breathed softly.
Naruto and Gaara had been about to enter the café when a dark haired young man came pelting down the sidewalk only to stop a few feet of them. A sharp pain flared in Naruto’s heart as he watched the stranger’s face contort into a look of pure love. ‘Holy… I know him. I’m not sure how, but I know him.’ And then the raven-haired god – it was the only word that would do the man justice – said his name so softly that he was barely able to understand it. He was barely aware of the fact that Gaara had already stepped into he moody little building, all he saw was the man in front of him that somehow knew him.
Sasuke’s breathing hitched as Naruto looked him straight in the eye. How he wanted to scoop the breathtakingly beautiful blonde into his arms and tell him how much he had missed his dobe’s presence. Slowly Sasuke tore his gaze away from Naruto and asked quietly, “Where you going in or not?” They couldn’t stand outside while there were other people waiting for them inside argued a reasonable part of his mind. ‘And I can’t hug or kiss him… yet.’ After seeing Naruto nod his head dazedly he opened the door and gestured for Naruto to enter. Following sedately after the blonde he noticed that a certain red head was glaring at him. ‘Gaara.’ Eyes narrowing, he glared coolly into Gaara’s look of intense loathing. Sasuke almost snarled as Gaara patted the place next to him in the small booth. ‘Bastard!’
Gaara growled slightly at the raven-haired man that dared to look at his Naruto. ‘He will die.’ He thought spitefully once he noticed that Naruto looked dazed. As soon as Naruto sat next to him, he wrapped a very possessive arm about the boy’s waist and glared smugly into the unnamed man’s eyes. ‘Mine!!’ He declared loudly in his mind as the man sent him a look of utmost hatred.
Shikamaru watched lazily as the Uchiha tried to freeze the red haired man with his trademark glare. ‘Why is Sasuke being so hostile?’ He wondered momentarily before mentally shrugging and classifying it as too bothersome. Ino, who had also noticed the silent exchange between the two men, sighed. “Have the two of you met before?”
Ignoring Ino, Sasuke sat down directly across from Naruto. He managed to tear his eyes from the arm that was wrapped around his blonde’s waist only to be met by a pair of green eyes directly in front of him. ‘Fuck… I forgot she was here.’ He groaned as the pink haired menace began bombarding him with questions, all the while scooting closer and closer until she was practically trying to climb into his lap. ‘Dammit! He’s so close!’
Blushing brightly at the actions of Gaara and the guy Sasuke –he had heard Sakura squeal it out. ‘Why do I feel like I know him?’ Sighing softly he squirmed in Gaara’s embrace until he was comfortable and then looked up at the other occupants of the booth. A blonde girl and a very lazy looking guy sat between Gaara and Sakura –the booth was circular – and Sasuke sat across from him, the pale boy’s feet brushing against his own lightly. His breath caught in his throat as Sasuke looked into his eyes. Those midnight eyes were clouded over in booth desperation and longing. ‘Why is he looking at me like that?’ Naruto gaze flickered away from those beautiful eyes and landed on the slightly tanned skin of an arm that was wrapped around his waist. “Gaara.” He whispered. ‘That’s right Gaara is here. Nothing will happen.’ He didn’t know why he thought that, but took comfort in the knowledge that his brother and best friend would always be there.
Snorting loudly in annoyance, Sakura turned back to face the other two men who had sat down in the booth. “So guys,” she started, smiling happily, “This is Gaara and Naruto.” She gestured to the two. “And they’re Ino, Shikamaru, and Sasuke.” She finished after pointing to each of her friends in turn. She waited for everyone to greet and shake hands with each other, failing to notice how Sasuke held Naruto’s hand tenderly in his own and then glared at Gaara. Ino and Shikamaru, however, noticed it but decided that they liked their heads where they were and opted not to say anything. “So why don’t you two tell us about yourselves.” She chirped.
Gaara shifted uncomfortably before saying, “We are both orphans. Well… we were. About the time we were both 12 years old we got adopted by an old man named Jiraiya.” He opted for a short version of their pasts since they had only just met these people. ‘And I’m not sure that we can trust them yet. Especially the one named Sasuke.’ Naruto, who had been looking uncomfortable, brightened at the mention of their adopted father. “Ero-sennin may be really pervy but he’s really cool!” He added happily.
-----------------
A lone figure sat hidden in a dark corner nearby, quietly observing then group. ‘It seems that they have found each other again, but Gaara is in the way…’ The figure smirked. Life had just gotten more interesting. Watching as the blonde blushed when Gaara and Sasuke began arguing over trivial, the figure chuckled darkly. ‘It has gotten much more interesting.’

As always, thanks for reading. I’m using this story to improve my writing skills so… yea. It sucks. Ass. But so long as you read and review, I will continue writing!
Itachi: Are you sure that it’s a good thing?
Anbu: …
Naruto: Maybe you should give up….
Anbu: … blah… you just don’t want to be bottom…
Naruto: *eye twitches* I hate you.
Sakura: Review please! If you don’t I’ll rape Sasuke!
Anbu: … You’ll do that even if they review…
Later for now!
