Remember

"I remember how cold the day was but a warm feeling had entered my heart melting the freezing cage around my heart."

Neji watched Hinata walk out of the compound free to do as she pleased. Touching his forehead Neji sighed, even if he was to marry Hinata he would still be trapped within the family. The though of him being free crossed his mind more times a day then he could count and always left his heart feeling empty.

Finally no longer seeing Hinata's figure in the distance Neji turned towards his quarters to get in from the cold. The Branch Family's quarters were the furthest down a long corridor. But Neji's room was the furthest back from the Main Branch family. The hallway was only light by small dim lights giving just enough light to make it through. Neji stopped in front of a brown door covered in paper.

Slipping off his shoes Neji headed into his room. Taking grip of the sliding door Neji opened and closed it in one motion. The room was simple and clean, everything was in order. Though the lack of things on the way made it look more like a hospital room then a regularly occupied room. A small futon rest in the middle of the room with a light blue cover on it. On the left side a small desk rest with nothing on the top of it.

Throwing his towel into the hamper Neji turned to his small window. Darkness started to consume the last little bit of light of the day. It reminded him of his old feelings towards Hinata. His hatered was like the darkness slowly absorbing the last bit of light from Hinata. He was always sorry for his feelings but truly never knew how to confront Hinata on them.

Thinking about to the Chunnin Exam Neji shook his head, "Naruto, you truly made me understand what it meant to be human." After that one encounter Neji had felt weights being lifted off giving him the first bit of fresh air he had had in a long time.

Pushing her hands back into her pockets Hinata made her way through the village. Knowing that the Aburame Clan liked privacy Hinata had a long trek into the woods before she would reach their compound. Shurging her shoulders Hinata pushed her head further into her jacket to keep warm.

Slowly she made her way down the snow covered streets of Konaha, looking at all the dark shops. All the shops had closed for the night, locking themselves up tight leaving no trace of life. Walking during the night always made Hinata feel at ease; no one would bother her now.

As Hinata reached a fork at the end of the road she looked side to side and remembered she had to get to the compound a certain way. Moving her hands up to her face she whispered, "Byakugan." Suddenly veins appeared around her face with her ireses becoming bigger then normal. Her range of vision completely changed revealing the path that she had to take.

Walking towards the left Hinata released the command having her eyes return to normal. Since she didn't have the bugs to guide her or the nose to sniff it out she used her own talent. Giving a smile to herself she heads away from Konaha.

"Cough cough!"

"Father we need to call Hokage, you fever hasn't broken in the last two hours and your getting paler," spoke Hanabi, Hiashi's younger daughter. "You need to atleast drink this." He soft voice was kind and gentle as she tried to nurse her ill father.

"My daughter, I don't need such treatment. And getting the Hokage will only bring her into family affairs," Hiashi coughed covering his mouth with hands. As he removed his hands Hanabi saw the palm covered with blood. It was getting worse and with out help the end was coming near.

"Father please..." Hanabi held back her emotions in front of her father. She had to be strong, she had to be a true shinobi. Brushing her long black hair from her eyes, Hanabi handed her father a warm rag.

Wipping the blood from his hand and mouth Hiashi turned from her, "Where is your sister?" Hanabi put the rag back into the bowl rising the blood from it.

"Don't worry yourself with her father, she has been locked in her room for the last week, well the last month," Hanabi groaned. She loved her older sister but hated the fact that she lacked all it took to be what their father had hoped. After Hinata had become a Chunnin, a month later Hanabi had become a Genin, and was on her way to taking the Chunnin exam with in the next month.

"I see...I am not surprised," Hiashi whizzed. He had high hopes for both daughters wanting they to take their rightful places in the Hyuga family. Yet his first daughter was taking too long to bloom. "She wants to change herself, but still she hides." Pulling the blankets over his chest Hiashi sighed. "Hanabi, I think its time I rested. Please go check on your sister for me."

"Yes father."
