Chapter 5
Sacrifice
When Naruto was called into Tsunade’s office, he expected it to be about the mission he was being sent on, or better yet, news the council had gotten their heads out of their asses and were letting Haku start school with his own age group.
The expression on Tsunade’s face could be termed as grim. The broken window behind her, and missing desk chair was a sign of much deeper emotion however.
“The council has given their alternative to Haku joining the academy early.”
“Ah. . . well that’s good! Right?” Naruto shoved down the elation that had risen at her words. Something was up.
“The council has agreed to let Haku go to primary school with the rest of his age group, so long as you marry.”
Naruto stared, and then laughed.
“Ah, that’s a good one granny. Almost had me going there for a moment.”
Tsunade wasn’t laughing.
“If you marry into a clan, preferably one with a bloodline trait, the council will leave him be. A member of the Hyuga has already been chosen.”
“You have to be joking! They can’t make me marry some girl I don’t know! That’s blackmail!” Naruto exploded, slamming his hands down on the Hokage’s desk.
“Naruto, no one said it was a girl.”
Images of shy Hinata being forcefully dragged to the altar to marry him disappeared in a poof of blank confusion. At his blank face, Tsunade sighed, sitting on the edge of the desk.
“Naruto. . . the council found out about the jutsu on you. It’s very unique, in that despite the fact that Haku’s blood is part yours, just like in a normal child, Haku is full blooded Uchiha, as if you too were uchiha. His blood is pure. The Hyuga clan welcome the fresh blood, without sacrificing their own pure lines.”
When the blank look on Naruto’s face grew even blanker, a crease of irritation marred the mark on her brow.
“Sasuke sired a full Uchiha child with you. A Hyuga of similar talents, would do the same.”
“They expect me to have more kids with some GUY!” Naruto shrieked. Tsunade winced and several aids poked their heads around the corner.
“It’s the only way they would relent. They feel a clan environment will give him the stability his father didn’t have. . You marry, or Haku will probably be ANBU before he is twelve years old.”
And as screwed up as the rest of his unique family. Or be like Kakashi, talented but with more issues than anyone could begin to count.
“How soon?”
This time it was Tsunade that was surprised. She had expected more of a fight, or at least a heartfelt and heroic proclamation of how he would single handedly beat up every council member until they changed their mind.
“You don’t even want to know who?”
“If it makes it so Haku can be out of the council’s eyes, I’ll marry Akamaru.”
“Fine. You have six months. Your fiancé is Hyuga Neji.”
Suddenly Naruto felt the need to sit down.
