authors note: here's the chapter Nine Lovers! oh and for those of you whom have been reading this i went back and changed the age groups... naruto is 18 so is sasuke, just a few months older then the blond. october 10-naruto, july 23-sasuke.

Nine Lovers...

"Oh come on!" Kiba complained as he sat down next to Naruto in the darkened back room. "Even if you could find his soulmate why would you?!" He leaned over to rest an arm on Naruto's shoulders. "Naruto's got his whole life to live! Why would you pair him up so soon and let some bitch rule his life? That will ruin all the fun!"

Brushing off Kiba's arm Naruto frowned at the boy. "Oh shut up Kiba. I'm not like you."

"Thank Kami for that." Tsunade grumbled as she sat down.

"Yeah you're not like me at all." Crossing his arms Kiba leaned back with a smirk. "You're much more girlie then I am. Hey Tsunade any chance his Wonder Woman is some manly dominatrix?"

Naruto's face paled at the thought and Kiba barked in laughter elbowing him in the ribs.

"All right you two quit screwing around..." The blond woman pulled out a sake bottle to pour herself a glass ignoring Naruto's twitching eyebrow.

"I thought you said you were going to help me find my soulmate!"

"I am... I just need to make sure you really want to find your soulmate so soon. Like Kiba said you do have your whole life ahead of you." She gave the boy a stern look. "What's your say boy? This will be the only chance you get for help in the matter. You can decide to spend your whole life searching for the right person like most people do, taking their time. Or you can choose the much harder and faster route."

Naruto opened his mouth to announce his decision, but Tsunade raised her hand to cut him off.

"Much harder..." She poured herself a drink placing the sake bottle carefully on the table. Squaring her shoulders she looked up to see the males determined face. "What will it be?"

"The second."

Closing her eyes she nodded, snatched the cup and downed the rush of sake. It smelt like strong finger-nail polish and rubbing alcohol but tasted like a sweet vodka and dark wine mix. It sent a warm burn down her throat causing her body to shiver slightly. "Right. Very well then let's continue."

Letting out a groan Kiba slumped in his seat with both arms crossed looking elsewhere.

Tsunade stood and raided her shelves behind the small table they sat at. She snatched nine jars placing them on the surface where the boys could examine them as she continued her search.

"Isn't there some book you read from to help you with spells and stuff?" Naruto had more then once become fascinated in reading worldly religions, but the pagan deities were more interesting to him -from the mystics to the modern witches.

"A Book of Shadows?" She peeked over her shoulder realizing she might have to refer to her own written text. "It's somewhere behind you under that aquarium. Grab it for me, and don't break the glass."

It seemed that somewhere along the line of creepy jars and mystic books Kiba was once again interested as Naruto tried maneuvering the thick book free. "The aquarium is empty. Are you going to put something in it soon?"

"Oh yes I have someone in particular."

Naruto shivered at the mention of 'someone'. He gulped. "And who might that be?"

"Let's just say I'm getting ready for some payback on a snake of a man."

Kiba pipped in, "Do you own any other animals then the pig?"

"There are some critters in the back. They're useful for my work."

Naruto frowned feeling a bit cold at that. "You don't kill them do you?"

"Oh no! What good would they be then?"

The blond boy could only visualize some of the more graphic religions whom practiced sacrifices or reading goat intestines. Hopefully they wouldn't need to count the inner rib-cage of a goat to find his special someone... that would be one hell of a conversation. 'Yeah I may have not met you through the Internet, but I did read goat guts.' He shook the thought from his head. Naruto placed the surprisingly new looking leather-bound diary on the table. The handwriting inside was in sloppy cursive but fit neatly in the margin lines.

"Alright here we go then." Tsunade came around the table and flipped open the her personal Book of Shadows. "What month and day were you born?"

"Um, October 10th..."

She nodded and went back to piling more ingredients onto the flat surface. "A Libra, you've got power with the wind boy."


Naruto diverted his gaze.

"I think I'll base this around a normal spell idea with love on the mind with a bit of a twist... it's a good ancient way for you to get your lover in no time. Just remember Naruto that once the spell is in affect you will meet every single love you are supposed to experience in a lifetime in a short month."

"Really? How many of them are there?"

"Nine. Thus the spell is called Nine Lovers." Sitting back down at the table Tsunade placed both her hands at her sides and took a deep breath releasing it only when she felt the gentle pull of energy running through her peaceful body. With intentions clear and presenting her task within the walls of her mind she opened her eyes.

Naruto watched intently as she picked up a thin pink candle the length of his forearm. She held it in both palms.

"Pink; romantic love, peace, affection, partnerships of emotional maturity, caring and nurturing..."

His cheeks were burning beat red at the silliness of this whole situation and the woman's extreme seriousness as she put the candle in a candle holder shaped like a bowl. She then picked each small spice bottle off the table, undoing the cap and retrieving ingredients to her spell, all the while talking aloud.

"These Magickal Uses of Herbs for love... Apple peelings, hint of basil, a single clover, petal from a lilac, a marjoram, a rose petal, pinch of rosemary, and a willow leaf." She placed these in the bowl under the candle.

Naruto fidgeted.

The witch then took hold of a tiny knit bag and opened it to put in a few items. "This represents the client. In this pouch resides a personal item from Naruto Uzumaki..." She stared at the blond whom blinked back.

"Oh right!" He jammed his hands into each pocket, getting lint out of the first one and scraps of candy wrappers.

Fed up with the wait Tsunade leaned across the table and ripped out a lock of his hair.

"OUCH! You old bat!"

In went the lock of hair. The pouch was sealed and placed at the base of the candle. Then Tsunade turned to the jars. Kiba and Naruto soon found that each nine jars contained different color strings. The jars were put away as were the spice bottles and Tsunade laid out each string in front of Naruto. "Now... each string has a different color and represents a different love. Pick in order whom you will meet Naruto."

"Uh... which ones are which?"

She gave a mysterious smirk. "That I cannot tell you."

So Naruto chose them going in order; Magenta, Jade Green, Chocolate, Grey, Maroon, Violet, Gold, Mahogany and Midnight Blue. Each string was then tied to the candle number one at the top and the last choice at the bottom.

"Now there's only one last thing for you to do."


Naruto was handed a lighter.

"You must light the candle to begin the spell."

Leaning in Naruto flipped the lighter on, just when the fire was going to burn onto the tip Tsunade grabbed his wrist and squeezed tight.

"Is this really what you want?"

"Yes." And the candle was lit. Feeling a bit uneasy Naruto stood to leave the shop. He had enough creepy adventures for one day and would happily go back to his apartment with Iruka to clean with ramen awaiting at the end.

"Oh wait there's one more thing. This is actually the twist part." Bending over there was a creek as Tsunade popped open a loose board from the floor and pulled something small from a cubby hole. "I want you to have this. It is a good luck charm and will help you." She handed it over.

Blue eyes peered down at an old ruby ring. "A ring?"

"Yep. Believe me it works! I found it a month ago and have used basically all the luck in it."

"If you used all the luck what good is it to me?"

"Idiot. I used the luck in money! Beauty! Success! As for some other things but I have not used luck in love. You use it." She leaned back with a frown. "You need all the luck you can get this month just to survive this ordeal."

"Pfft if it works at all!" Kiba complained.

Naruto didn't really pay much attention to the two arguing at each other as he slipped the ring onto a finger. If felt good, protective. A very comfortable weight. The other blonde's hand came down on his shoulder, he looked up into her eyes.

"When you meet each and every one of these different loves Naruto, you most choose whom you want to spend the rest of your life with by handing them over this ring which will also end the spell." Now both hands gripped his shoulders. "And for Kami's sake boy choose wisely!"

yes i am being mysterious with which love represents which coloured string, but i promise there will be nine chapters which let you meet each love of narutos. of course i'll name each of these chapters off of a coloured string so keep an eye out for that.

no the nine lovers are not based off the nine demons. that wouldn't make since because naruto is one.

anyhow one of the lovers is one of my own made up characters... i know i didn't clearly state that i would put in my own person but please don't freak when you see Kidou Yoshida and act all 'who the hell is this bastard?!' just roll with it. -.- PEACE OUT!
