Naruto sighed as he drew his knees to his chest taking a deep breath as he did so he stared down from the mountain he wasn’t sure how far he ran he just knew he ran and as fast as he could.

he just needed to get away just for a bit, he couldn’t take it, the thought alone of what he heard them say-- Naruto laid his head on his knees breathing deeply, the elders they told Tsunade they wouldn’t allow him to become Hokage…

Why? He worked so hard, fought so hard he even brought Sasuke back and stopped Madara. Didn’t he prove he was strong enough? Didn’t he prove how much he loved this village? He would die for any of them, how could they still refuse him?

Naruto wanted to hit something he wanted to yell, scream, something, aside from run, he didn’t know what he was supposed to do, it hurt-- it hurt a lot to know he wouldn’t achieve his dream-- his lifelong goal. How was he supposed to fight them on it?

Naruto let out another deep breath as he felt a familiar chakra approaching-- he didn’t feel like a mission maybe Sasuke would just go back and say Naruto was sick or something.

Sasuke frowned as he entered the Hokage’s office she requested him and only him, and he did not care for the look on her face. “Hokage Sama.” his voice was cold slightly laced with annoyance; he would rather be at the Ramen stand where he was sure Naruto would be.

“Uchiha what are your loyalties to me?”

Sasuke arched a thin brow, was she serious? What kind of question was that? “As a ninja it’s by duty to be loyal to you.” he was not sure where she was going with this.

“Over the elders?”

Now he was confused, though he didn’t show it. “Of course it’s you, you are our leader and Naruto has faith in you.” Were they trying to remove her from the title or something?

Tsunade smirked. “Naruto huh?”

“Excuse me Hokage Sama?” he said the part about Naruto aloud didn’t he? ‘Crap’ well it could not be helped he would not deny anything if she asked.

“Their trying to stop me from handing the title of Hokage to Naruto, I won’t allow that. Of course I’m not ready to and there’s things he needs to learn, however he will become Hokage, I need to know that you and the other Shinobi are on my side.” Tsunade folded her hands under her chin, a small smirk coming to play on her lips.

“Of course even if it meant dying I would support you.” Naruto… he would do anything without hesitation if asked, well if it concerned Naruto. “May I ask why you just called me?”

“I’ll talk with them later secretly, however I called you first because there’s something I need to tell you, to put it bluntly, Naruto over heard everything they said and took off. I can’t blame him for being hurt but he really looked like he was going to give up. That said, take the next few days off I’m giving Naruto some time off as well, I‘ll leave it to you.”

Sasuke’s eyes widened, Naruto was hurting because of those old bastards, and his fists doubled clenching and unclenching. So then, Tsunade was telling him because… she knew already…
“If you don’t mind, I’ll take me leave now.” Sasuke turned towards the door, quickly making his way through it.

"Oh, before you go Sasuke, tell me what are your goals now?" Tsunade smiled, she really just wanted to hear it, maybe improve her mood before she to pay the elders a nice little visit, and they had a discussion to finish.

Sasuke jumped from tree to tree; letting out a relieved sigh when he felt Naruto’s chakra, he wouldn’t allow it, he wouldn’t allow Naruto to give up, and he wouldn’t allow Naruto to stand alone.

Sasuke slowed when Naruto came into view he could see it from here, Naruto was hurting. Though once their eyes met, Naruto smiled trying to hide it; it was still there, though Sasuke could see it, they were full of hurt and betrayal. Of course Naruto would feel that way, he didn’t like that, not one bit. He didn’t like the idea of Naruto giving up, being hurt, anything like that, anything that wasn’t his usual cheerful self.

Sasuke quietly sat next to Naruto. “I’ve been looking for you.”

“Sorry Sasuke if there’s a mission could you just tell Kakashi I don’t feel good.” Naruto sighed softly, tensing slightly when Sasuke scooted closer to him. “Sasuke?” Naruto bit his bottom lip, eyes widening slightly when lips pressed against his cheek.

“Lady Tsunade told me what happened.” Sasuke whispered into a tanned ear.

“Oh…” Naruto’s gaze moved to the ground, that’s why he was here. “I don’t know what to do Sasuke. I can’t prove myself to them no matter what I do… and, and I just don’t know anymore.” Naruto grimaced. He wouldn’t cry, he wouldn’t show that weakness in front of Sasuke, no matter how badly he wanted to, no matter how much he just wanted to let It all out.

“You’ll do what you always do.” Sasuke whispered pulling Naruto into his arms, causing the male to look confused and shocked. Clear of whiskered marked cheeks. “Sasuke?”

“You’ll continue to fight, you’ll prove them wrong.” Sasuke paused he supposed now was a good time. "And I’ll be by your side the whole time, so don’t ever give up. Because you have to achieve your dream, so I can achieve mine."

"Your dream? You mean rebuilding the Uchiha clan." Naruto looked up slightly, what did that have to do with him?

Sasuke tightened his grip, pulling Naruto closer to his chest, he would say it, and he just hoped Naruto would allow it. "I want to stand by you, help you become Hokage, and then when you do, I’ll be your Anbu captain, I’ll serve you, and stay by your side Naruto."

Naruto’s eyes widened his voice dying out in his throat. "I love you Naruto, I finally know what I really want, to be with you, as long as you will allow me. I‘ll gladly fight for you, and die for you. I want you to know that. Also, I want you to know even if you do not return my feelings, I‘ll stay by your side. You‘ll become Hokage there‘s no doubt about it-,"

“Sasuke…” Naruto cut Sasuke off, as he looked away from the male. “I-I love you too, I just don’t see how that could happen though.” Naruto smiled softly, it really made him happy to know how Sasuke felt, that he wanted to be by him, he always felt the same. For a long time he knew he loved Sasuke… However it still didn’t change the fact that he wouldn’t be Hokage, but having the Uchiha-- the one everyone said was cold hearted and cruel, trying to comfort him, confessing to him, made it hard for him to be down.

Sasuke hugged Naruto tighter as he smiled; he knew it was not the time to be smiling. However, he couldn’t help himself, Naruto said the words he longed to hear, that he prayed to hear-- he never thought he would hear it, it made him incredibly happy. . .

Though he still had something else to say, he could bask in their new found statues later.

“You know Tsunade wants you to be Hokage, you really think she’ll let those old fools get in the way of that? Naruto, just keep being you, everything else will work out, and it’s not like you to not have faith.”

Naruto’s eyes briefly widened. “Granny is?”

“Let’s not worry about it right now Naruto, if there stupid enough to piss her off, let them deal with an angry Hokage, and enjoy our time off.” Sasuke rested his chin on Naruto’s shoulder.

Naruto laughed slightly, granny would do something like that for him, it really improved his mood, though nothing could really top being told ‘I love you’ by Sasuke-- “time off?” those words set in, he didn’t remember anything about time off.

Sasuke smirked slightly. “Yeah, she gave us both a few days off, guess she realized we loved each other wanted to give us a few days, or didn’t want us to witness whatever she’ll be doing.” Sasuke chuckled.

“She knew?” Naruto smiled, well at least she didn’t care or get mad about it, as he thought she would, and she even was doing what she could to keep them from stopping Naruto from being Hokage, so he should continue fighting and training to prove he deserved it… and Sasuke, Sasuke would be next to him the whole time.

Naruto turned in, Sasuke’s arms hugging the male. “Thanks Sasuke, I’ll work hard to deserve having you next to me.” he blushed slightly everything Sasuke had said and his actions finally setting in thought, it brought a bright smile to his face, and seeing Sasuke smile only made it better.

“That should be my line.” Sasuke kept Naruto from responding with a gentle kiss. He guessed they both had a lot of work to do, however they would both work hard together, because they both had someone strong standing next to them. Catching the other when they fall…
