~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Naruto sighed as heard his best friends argue again. They didn’t know he was there, standing outside Itachi’s bedroom. It was Christmas break for the junior in college and the two freshmen. It was rare that the two younger men got to see Itachi since he was always busy with his work and research for his senior paper. Naruto didn’t know why Itachi decided to start it so early.
Sasuke’s voice increased in volume. “I won’t let you have Naruto! He belongs to me!”
Naruto raised a blond eyebrow. He belonged to no one and he had tried to teach the Uchiha brothers that when they were younger. Apparently the lesson didn’t stick. He didn’t know what to do about their jealous fits that they had with each other. It had taken him a long time to catch onto the silent glares the two brothers would throw each other. It had amused him at first that they were jealous of the attention that he gave the other, but it soon ended as it became too tense for the three to hang out together. Naruto had to split his time between Sasuke and Itachi and he was getting tired of it.
He was about to intercede when he heard a low moan. This time both eyebrows shot up. He was sure that it was a moan caused by pleasure and not pain. Curiosity peaked Naruto crouched and peered through the crack of the door.
Naruto almost fell over. Itachi had Sasuke held close to his body, kissing the ever living daylights out of his younger brother. Naruto could feel his pants tightening at the sight. He now knew he could throw half of his plan out the window. He had conjured up a plan when he heard his dad and Fugaku going at it. But it seemed that the complicated plan that had been changed multiple times wasn’t needed, or at least part of it anyway. It made his job easier now to lure both men to his bed.
Naruto knew there would be no others for him. He didn’t even think about other men. Those two had ruled his heart and they didn’t know it. He had fun leading them on, pitting them against one another. It was a great source of amusement for him. But the amusement died when he turned eighteen and tried to convey that he was interested in the both of him. But neither supposed genius got the hint.
The blond backed away slowly, he had to start the next part of his plan ‘Bed Uchihas’ very soon. If that kiss was anything to go by, they would have no trouble being in a threesome. He was walking down when he saw his dad heading to Itachi’s room.
“Hey Dad! I need your help for a moment! I know we’re going to that masquerade thingy in a few days and I need your opinion on my outfit!” Naruto grabbed his father and directed him towards his room. He had to protect the brothers no matter what.
Naruto fidgeted impatiently as he scoured the ballroom for the Uchiha brothers. They insisted they had to take a separate car because their costumes got mixed up and they had to sort them out. Naruto didn’t believe it for a moment but had helped them in the end convincing his father and Fugaku to go on ahead. He knew he needed to give them time to get used to one another. He had waited all these years, what were a few more months? They had to get use to the transition from rivals to boyfriends or whatever the hell they were. Naruto just didn’t know how much time he wanted to give them. He was afraid that they would forget him.
The blond felt a hand on his shoulder and he turned around. Before him was a man with a purple feathered mask, gold sequins lining the top and bottom. The only feature Naruto could see was pale eyes and long black hair. He knew who this person was and the blond had an idea enter his mind.
“Would you care to dance?” The man asked.
“Of course Neji.” Naruto answered.
“How did you know?” Neji asked as he led Naruto to the dance floor.
Naruto chuckled. “You should consider wearing contacts.”
“As should you, Naruto.” Neji replied softly.
The two began to dance and talked amiably. Neji had a crush on Naruto when they met at freshman orientation. The Uchiha brothers were not impressed with the prodigy moving in on what they had seen as their territory and warned the man to back off. Naruto had certainly made them learn their lesson for that.
“Where are the Uchihas?” Neji asked as they finished their dance and headed towards the far wall.
“They had costume issues. I don’t see how you could mix up a red and black frock coat with a black and red one.” Naruto huffed as he crossed his arms. His own frock coat was an orange with red embroidery. The theme of the masquerade was the eighteen hundreds and you weren’t admitted unless you met the requirement.
“They’re probably bickering about who chose what.” Neji sighed. “I don’t see how you put up with their possessiveness.”
“I’ve been dealing with it since I was five years old. I’m used to it.” Naruto shrugged.
“I hate to see how they take if you decide to date anyone else.”
“I think they’d take offense if I dated the other brother. I think they’d take it pretty well if I dated someone besides one of them.” Naruto grinned.
Neji shook his head. He had his suspicions about Naruto and who he was really interested in. But he wouldn’t say anything to the blond until Naruto confided in him. He didn’t have the history with Naruto that the Uchihas had, which saddened him greatly.
Naruto smiled and leaned his on Neji’s shoulder. “I’m glad that we could be friends Neji.”
Naruto felt a heated stare directed towards him and he scanned the room. He spotted his best friends over by the entrance dressed in their period attire. He grinned and waved them over. He would make them play nice with Neji since he didn’t feel like leaving the others company right at that moment. The two had quickly made their way over to Naruto and stood there like they were waiting for an explanation.
“I was just dancing with Neji and decided to take a break.” Naruto explained.
Both sets of eyes narrowed at the statement but neither person said a word. They both knew that if they said anything, the blond would refuse to talk to them. And they did not like that idea.
“Get everything sorted out?” Naruto asked slyly.
“Yes Naruto we did. It was nothing to worry about.” Itachi answered smoothly.
“That’s good! Hey Neji let’s dance some more!” Naruto pulled a startled Hyuuga to the dance floor while two Uchihas plotted his death. The blond told Neji to ignore them and to punish the Uchihas he didn’t dance with them once throughout the night.
Hours later Naruto plopped down on his bed in his boxers. The masquerade had lasted until one and he just finally stripped out of his costume. He had no idea why anyone would subject themselves to that kind of clothing everyday.
He sighed and stared at the ceiling. He now at least knew that Itachi and Sasuke were still interested in him. It was bonus that the two were at least attracted to one another. It would save the blond some headaches.
Naruto continued to lay there and think. He didn’t know how long he should take to show interest in the brothers. If he did it too soon, they wouldn’t bond properly and put a strain on the relationship. Threesomes were complicated enough without extra baggage. He rolled over on his stomach and folded his arms, resting his head there. He watched the clock pondering the situation. He didn’t know if he could wait an entire year to claim them. It seemed as if he waited all his life for them to take that next step.
He heard a knock at the door and told the person to enter. To Naruto’s amusement it was Sasuke. He figured that Itachi would be the first come to his room. “I need to talk to you moron.”
Naruto smiled and sat up. “What do ya need bastard?”
“I need your approval.” Sasuke’s eyes were focused intently on Naruto’s own.
“Okay. Tell me what’s going on.” Naruto patted the empty spot beside him.
Sasuke sat down and took a deep breath. “Itachi and I discovered that we are attracted to one another.”
Naruto quirked an eyebrow, he didn’t quite expect Sasuke to just come out with it. “Well…to each his own. I’m not gonna judge you guys.”
Naruto saw the tension that left Sasuke’s body. He could tell his answer meant a lot to the younger Uchiha. “Itachi knew you would say that. He knows you better than I do.”
“So? You know me too Sasuke. Just because you didn’t predict what I would say doesn’t mean that you don’t know me.” Naruto answered as he placed a kiss on the others cheeks.
“Thanks Naruto. This means a lot to us. I know you like to give us kisses and affections, but if you don’t mind…could you not do it?” Sasuke asked as he got up.
Naruto forced a smile. “No problem. I guess. You gonna stay and talk to me?”
“No. I want to talk to Itachi for a little while before we go to sleep. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Sasuke waved as he left the room.
Naruto tried not to feel hurt. Sasuke had always talked to him before they fell asleep when they were at the dorm. And to ask not to give the two kisses, maybe he had read the brothers wrong. Maybe they just were fighting over being Naruto’s best friend. The blond stifled a groan and fell backward. His mind not shutting up for the rest of the night over what his next move was, if he made one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Naruto had been staring at the same sentence for twenty minutes. He finally gave up and glanced out the window of his dorm. It was his dorm, not Sasuke’s and his. The other had moved out to live with Itachi in his apartment. Naruto hadn’t been invited and that’s what hurt the blond the most.
The two had been so spending so much time together that Naruto hardly ever saw them. He had called them to have a movie night but they had refused saying that they already had plans. When Naruto had asked to tag along, they told him he couldn’t.
Naruto closed the book knowing that he couldn’t finish reading the chapter right at that moment. It hurt having two people that were with you almost all the time just suddenly not be there. Naruto had thought about calling Neji to get some pizza but remembered that he had a date with Shikamaru Nara.
“What the hell. I can go get food by myself. I’m not a fucking invalid.” Naruto mumbled to himself as he grabbed his coat and keys and headed out.
He made his way to the student restaurant. He preferred the food there to the cafeterias. It served ramen after all. He entered the restaurant and placed his order. Making sure he knew his number, he sat down as close to the bar as possible. He sat thinking over the last time he had seen the brothers. It had been after they moved all of Sasuke’s stuff from the dorm to the apartment.
Naruto just didn’t know what to do anymore. It just seemed like they had no interest at all. At first it had seemed like he was a possession for them to own, not letting anyone near him. It was so hard to make friends because of them. They scared a lot of people away.
It was only after he lectured them that they backed off. Then of course, the process began in middle school, high school, and college. Naruto bet that people thought he was a freak for having such few friends. But people barely lasted against the brothers, not wanting to deal with their death glares.
Naruto was pulled from his thoughts as he heard his number being called out. He thanked the person and took the bowl back to the table he had occupied earlier. Naruto finished his food and sat back. He thought maybe he could transfer to a different school. It didn’t take a university like Hokage University to make him a teacher. He could do that at Konoha Community College. His dad would certainly be pleased to have him closer. He wasn’t sure about Fugaku though.
Naruto stood and took his bowl back to the bar, giving it to the person behind it to clean it and put up. He made his way out the door and back towards the dorm. He still had to finish that test in case Yamato decided to give them a pop quiz, but he wasn’t in the mood to read.
Naruto made up his mind and decided to make his way towards a small garden that was located on campus. It was an isolated location that one could sit at and not be disturbed. It took him a few minutes to get there. He found a bench that didn’t have snow on it and sat down.
Naruto sat there and studied the dead plants. They were oddly beautiful in the dead of winter. Of course that could be the depression talking. He knew he wasn’t himself and his father had questioned him several times about what was wrong. But Naruto never gave him an answer.
Naruto watched the sunset. It was a beautiful sight of purples and pinks, the colors reflecting slightly off the snow and ice. Naruto wished he could have sat there longer, but the cold was settling into his bones and he needed to finish that chapter.
The blond made sure to take his time to the dorm. He didn’t want to be alone in his dorm. It was strangely silent ever since Sasuke had moved out. Naruto had tried to fill with the silence with the radio, but it didn’t work.
Naruto heard the screech of wheels and stared in shock as a car was careening out of control. He couldn’t move in time to get out of the way completely, so he made sure to at least protect his torso and chest before the car hit him.
He didn’t lose consciousness. His body wasn’t that kind to him. He always had a high pain tolerance and he guessed since the car was only going forty miles per hour helped a bit. He was sure his leg was broken but he didn’t want to move in case of a spinal injury.
He heard the driver get out and make a phone call. He knew they were making a 911 call. Naruto heard his phone ring. He wanted to answer it because he knew it was Itachi. He ignored the pain in his arm and reached into his pocket and pulled it out gingerly. He snapped it open and croaked out a ‘hello.’
“Naruto you sound horrible. Did you catch a cold?” Itachi asked.
“No…I…caught a car.” Naruto answered in what he hoped sounded like a smart tone.
“Shit! Are you serious Sunshine?”
“Fuck Itachi…would I lie about something like this? Shit…it hurts. I miss you and Sasuke. I love you guys, like really love you. Not…not…that best friend…bullshit. Fuck…” Naruto was losing the grip on his consciousness by now. He needed to get these words out.
“Naruto don’t say anything more. Sasuke and I are our way. We love you too.”
“Not…the…best…friend bullshit. But…love…love?”
“Yes Naruto, not the best friend bullshit but love love. We want you Naruto.”
“Thanks ‘Tachi. Imma go sleepy.” Naruto let the phone go out of his limp hand.

Naruto glared at the cast in annoyance. Ever since he had been released from the hospital Itachi and Sasuke would hover over him like he would break at any moment. The confession on the phone had brought quite a few things to the light. And the three young men were once again inseparable and began a relationship that included all three of them. Itachi had Naruto removed from campus and living in his apartment with him and Sasuke.
It had been nice to be waited on for the first week or two, after that it became damned annoying. Naruto would protest that he could do things on his own, but they had insisted that they help. For some odd reason they thought it was their fault since they weren’t there to protect him. He couldn’t wait until the damn cast came off.
Naruto scanned the front door for any sign of the Uchihas coming home early. This was a rare day that Naruto didn’t have afternoon classes and they did. So the blond indulged himself by moving around as much as he could.
Naruto grabbed his crutches and hobbled his way to the kitchen. He wanted an afternoon snack. Of course Sasuke knew about his case of afternoon munchies and left him chocolate granola bars but the blond didn’t want them. Oh no…he wanted ramen.
He leaned his crutches against the counter and began shifting through the cupboards. He groaned in disappointment when he noticed there wasn’t any ramen in them. So he then decided to try and find a suitable substitute, hopefully something of the junk food variety.
Naruto found a stash of Itachi’s dill pickle chips and almost jumped in triumph. He opened the can and began to stuff his face. He didn’t notice the door opening and closing and the sound of voices heading his way. He was in heaven at the moment.
“Naruto are those my chips?” Itachi asked as he sat his bag on the floor.
Naruto guiltily looked up and smiled. “I love you.”
“You owe me a kiss for each chip you ate.” Itachi smirked as he made his way over to Naruto.
“But ‘Tachi I don’t know how many I ate!”
“And moron, you owe me a kiss for each minute you’ve been out of that chair.” Sasuke’s smirk matched Itachi.
“But guys! That’s not fair!” Naruto whined. “I’m bored in here and I want to move around.”
Itachi leaned in against Naruto and purred into his ear, “You’ll get to move around all you want in our bed when the cast comes off.”
