~`~ Naruto groaned as the knocking got even louder. He rolled over and tried to ignore it but it was persistent. The blond sighed and carelessly rolled himself out of bed. It was his first day off during the weekday in six weeks and the blond was enjoying his sleep. Itachi had to attend a charity benefit with his parents so Naruto had the day off. He was so happy that he would be able to catch up on his sleep, but it seemed that fate had other plans. The blond searched his floor for his pants and found a pair that didn’t seem too skuzzy. He quickly pulled them on and then found a random shirt lying on his dresser. He pulled it over his head and proceeded to his front door. He was still groggy with sleep and wanted to murder whoever it was on the other side of that door.
He undid the lock and opened the door, blinking at the stranger that was on the other side. Naruto had never seen this woman before and briefly wondered if she was lost. Her hair was red and fell to her shoulders. And her brown were cold and indifferent. This was someone that Naruto would never associate with.
“Can I help you ma’am?” He asked politely, hoping that she was just lost.
“Are you Naruto Uzumaki?” She asked, her voice was made of steel it seemed.
“Um…yeah. Who are you? I’m sure we’ve never met before. ” Naruto answered as he moved out of the way and gestured for the woman to come in.
“I’m Tayuya Hokumon. I work for child services and there has been a complaint filed against you.” The woman explained as she briskly entered the apartment.
“What do you mean? I haven’t done anything wrong!” Naruto explained as he closed the door and led the woman to his living. He was thankful that he cleaned it up last night when he got home.
“Would like a glass of water or anything?” The blond asked. He would play the part of gracious host if it got this terrifying out of his apartment anytime soon.
“No I’m fine. I’m here because someone filed a complaint, and before you ask I can not give you that information. It is confidential. I can tell you what the accusations are though. They are as follow: neglect of your godson, ignoring his needs, ignoring him as a person, and endangerment. Do you have any comments?”
Naruto felt his blood grow cold and anger began to set in, but he held it under control. This was no time to get angry at someone, especially a social worker. “I do, those are all false accusations. I do no neglect, ignore, or endanger my godson. How would I be doing that?”
Tayuya placed her briefcase on her lap and opened it, pulling some papers out from it. She read over them for a minute while a tense silence filled the room. “It says here that you invite dangerous men over for sex games and that you drop Konohamaru Sarutobi off at daycare and you leave him there for days on end. And it also states that you ignore him when you are out in public, not acknowledging him when he has to use the restroom or eat.”
Naruto clenched his hands into fists. “I do not do any of those things! I do drop him off at daycare when he doesn’t have school and sure the bus takes him there after school as well and I may be late in the night picking him up sometimes, but I do not leave him there for days on end! He comes home every night and when we both are home we go out and do things as a father and son would. I don’t ignore his needs either! If he wants food I take to whatever restaurant he wants if we’re out in public. I also never let him go to a public restroom alone. Tell me, are those the actions of a neglectful guardian?”
Tayuya sighed. “No Mr. Uzumaki it is not. But you have to understand that we have to investigate this thoroughly. Young Mr. Sarutobi is the heir to a multi-million company and his safety is the priority of the board of trustees. I see that the apartment is kept very clean, no doubt you do most of the work?”
“Of course. I give Konohamaru the easy stuff a kid can do. I’m trying to teach responsibility. Or is that considered child cruelty?” Naruto asked coldly.
“No Mr. Uzumaki it is not. This is just a preliminary visit. I’ve found nothing to support the accusations held against you. But know this, if they continue to happen, we will conduct a full investigation.” Tayuya’s tone held no room for an argument.
“That’s fine. You wouldn’t find anything anyways. The only thing I would have against me is my past, which I’m sure you’re aware of.” Naruto said with a hint of anger.
“Of course, but it has nothing to do with what is happening now and will not be held against you unless you become a serial killer. This preliminary meeting is over. In the future, we will be dropping by unannounced just to make sure that Mr. Sarutobi is taken of. Is that clear?” Tayuya explained as she packed away the papers into her briefcase. When she closed it she stood and offered her hand to the blond.
Naruto took it and gave her a firm hand shake. He wanted to let her know that he was no pushover and that he didn’t take anything from anyone. “I trust you know the way out Ms. Hokumon.”
Tayuya just nodded her head and left the apartment. When Naruto heard the door shut he let out the breath that he had been holding since the woman had announced she was from child services. He shook himself out of the forbearing feeling he had and glanced at the clock. It was only fifteen past nine, he supposed he should get the day started.

“And I’m telling you that there is no way that a buster sword is cooler than a gun blade!” Naruto shouted at his friend, Kiba Inuzuka.
“Duuddddeee, you’re so wrong on that! A buster sword can block bullets! A gun blade can’t!” Kiba yelled just as loudly as his blond friend.
“Would you idiots just shut up already! We have a potential problem on our hands and you two are arguing over something ridiculous!” Sasuke said in a low voice.
Both men stopped their arguing as they felt the killing intent rolling of the black haired man. Naruto crossed his arms and plopped back into his couch, while Kiba just grinned at Sasuke and gave him a wink, which was ignored.
“So what are we going to do? I’m going to have to be very careful from now on. I mean, I can’t fuck up and lose Konohamaru!” Naruto whined.
“You won’t fuck up moron. Someone must have filed a fake complaint, but I would like to know why. You sure she didn’t say anything else out of the ordinary?” Sasuke asked with a pinning look.
“Not really, I mean everyone knows that Konohamaru’s grandfather named him the heir since Asuma didn’t take the job. And I doubt the board of trustees has a problem with me. They didn’t contest the will for my guardianship.” Naruto groaned and rested his head on the back of the sofa.
“True, it looks like we might have to just wait this out and see if anyone will come forward.”
“I hate waiting! It’s soooo boring. I mean couldn’t you chat up one of your old friends that works for child services? I mean surely they will slip you some information!” Naruto said as he leaned forward and poked the youngest Uchiha.
“No moron I will not do that. It wouldn’t be in our best interest if we went poking around. It would look suspicious and could land us in court. Then Konohamaru would surely be taken away wouldn’t he?”
“Gah you’re right! So what are your plans for Thanksgiving?” Kiba asked, since he wasn’t feeling apart of the conversation.
“We’re gonna go to the old hags and perverts place to eat. They invited us to spend the whole day with them, so I figured that it would be okay. I mean, it will give us the sense of a real family.” Naruto explained in a tired voice.
“Is Konoharmaru still not adjusting well?” Sasuke asked with a worried tone.
“He has these moments where he is doing soo well I can’t believe that he’s a kid who lost his parents, but then he has these other moments where he breaks down in tantrums. I leave the room and let him get it out of his system, because I feel helpless and confused on what to do. I feel like I’m abandoning him.”
“You shouldn’t feel that way Naruto. That’s the best thing you can do when he does that. He needs to work these feelings out on his own. And if you coddle him, then it would make things worse I believe.” Sasuke explained as he threw his arm around Kiba.
“I suppose. It doesn’t help that Neji hasn’t backed off either. Itachi still has to have the meetings over video calls. I hate that.”
“It’s his choice Naruto. My brother will do what he wants, nothing will ever change his mind.” Sasuke supplied.
“Meh, I just wish he would stop buying me lunch! He never lets me pay for anything!” Naruto growled.
Sasuke’s eyebrows shot up in surprise but he didn’t say anything. It was Kiba who spoke. “Seriously dude? You’re totally living the sweet life! You have a chick er I mean dude magnet, the kid, and a smoking hot boss who pays for your lunch! Now all you need is man!”
Naruto groaned. “You have it all wrong Kiba, it’s the not the sweet life, but I wouldn’t trade this one for anything else. I can’t wait for you adopt kids, I hope you get some mean ass kids.”
Kiba didn’t say anything at that comment. He wisely kept his mouth since Sasuke pinched him on the arm. Naruto turned his head to look out the window. “I just hope that whoever I find to spend the rest of my life with, will be accepting of Konohamaru. That’s all I want.”

“Naruto what is your godson doing here?” Itachi asked as he entered the office.
“Well you see, Sakura had an emergency with her parents and no one else could fill in for her today, so I had to bring Konohamaru here today since today school is out.” Naruto explained as he sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.
Itachi raised an eyebrow. “Very well, just as long as he doesn’t interrupt our work he can stay.”
In his excitement, the blond forgot himself and pounced on the older man. “Thank you so much sir! This means a lot to me!”
Itachi didn’t know what to do. He had never had anyone pounce on him before and he was quite uncomfortable with Naruto hanging onto him. But before he could say anything, he was interrupted by the secretary.
“Sir, there is a Mr. Hebi here to see you. Should I send him on in?” The secretary’s voice was loud over the intercom.
It seemed as though Naruto remembered himself and pulled away from his boss, an embarrassed smile on his face. “I’m sorry sir.”
Itachi instantly missed the warmth of Naruto, but shook those thoughts away. “It’s quite alright. Just do not let it happen again.”
The younger man nodded as Itachi made his way to the intercom and told the secretary to let the man waiting in. Naruto didn’t say anything as he took his place at his desk and made sure that Konohamaru was out of sight.
The man announced his presence before Itachi told him to come in. Naruto could only stare at the pale man with the golden eyes and long black hair. He was handsome in his own right and held an air of sophistication around him. The blond quickly averted his gaze and made sure to concentrate on the current contracts that needed to be entered into the database.
“Mr. Uchiha it has been quite some time since our meeting. I was hoping that you didn’t forget me.” The man said as he shook Itachi’s hand.
“Yes it has. I must ask what brought on this meeting. It was out of the blue, normally you have appointments planned months in advance.” Itachi asked as he sat down.
“It regards my missing great nephew, the son of Minato Namikaze. I’m tired of running the company and want the kid found. I know you hardly dabble in this sort of thing, but I need your help in making arrangements.” The man said.
“What kind of arrangements Orochimaru?” Itachi asked as he leaned forward.
“Well you know that his twenty third birthday just passed on the tenth. I want to renew the efforts on finding him, but I want to have other companies involved as well. I know your company would benefit greatly from his discovery.”
“Very well. We can use the Uchiha Estate to hold a party to raise money to reopen the search efforts. It would be fitting I suppose. Is there anything else you need?” Itachi asked.
“Not at the moment. I will get in contact with you at a later date on the more important details. I was thinking that we could this the week after Thanksgiving before the snows set in.”
“That would be most acceptable. Naruto come here, I want you to meet this man.” Itachi said softly that the blond almost didn’t hear him.
“Of course sir.” Naruto moved from his spot at the desk and stood beside the Uchiha’s desk.
“Orochimaru this is my new assistant Naruto Uzumaki. He is the most competent personal assistant I’ve had. If you need anything and can not contact me, feel free to contact him instead.” Itachi said as he motioned to the blond.
“It’s nice to meet you Mr. Hebi!” Naruto said as he held out his hand.
Orochimaru raised an eyebrow as if he recognized the blond. “It’s nice to meet you as well Mr. Uzumaki. I must say that the rumors surrounding you are very untrue.”
Naruto’s face fell for a moment before he gained his composure back. “I tend to not pay attention to rumors sir. For if you give them attention, they only bring unnecessary trouble into your life.”
Orochimaru laughed. “I like this one Itachi, you better keep a good hold of him or I may take him myself.” With those parting words, Orochimaru Hebi left the office.
