6. Training – How to look bored, Genma’s Nindo.

Genma stood at the foot of the bed and listened to the woman’s words. He watched the sleeping figure and nodded as the Hokage asked him if he understood.
“I know you have a team of genin, and they may not be ready for something like this. Perhaps we could have Ebisu take over while you complete the mission. I really need someone of your level and I don’t want to send someone who is . . . .”
“Going to be missed. I understand your reasoning, Tsunade. I have no family, therefore no ties to make me vulnerable.”
“Yes. Well, Asuma and Kurenai are expecting and Gai is, well Gai. I can’t ask Kakashi and Iruka because I am already depending on them for something else. And there is no one else with your experience available.”
“I told you, I understand. Don’t send my team off with that fool, I will take them with. They will be fine. But, I’ll need to set up a support team. I’ll check who is available. Are we sure there is only one, out there?”
“Yes, fairly sure. The patient said that it was a complicated Jutsu. I think I know which one it is. There would only be three viable embryo. She,” and Tsunade pointed to the sleeping ninja. “was an assistant for Kabuto and he was a very particular man. Only one other girl shared the room with her, and he hadn’t found another to fit his needs. Only a virgin can give birth to his reincarnated GOD.” She finished.
“And you can’t save her.” He said, also indicating the bed.
“No. All we can do is make her comfortable. When the child is born, she will die. It is part of his plan I’m sure and I have tried to find some way to undo it. She is doomed.”
“And what will you do with the child?” he asked.
“I have arranged for a sponsor family. They are trained ninja’s and will guard it carefully and watch for any sign of the madness manifesting. I will not make the mistake of my predecessor though. No one in the village will know the truth, but for the most trusted. I do not want the child going through what Naruto did. If the village knew that the new baby born in their midst was a clone of her most hated enemy . . . . ?”
“Orochimaru.” Genma stated and even though his face stayed impassive, his voice said the name with acid and venom. “Didn’t enough people die already for his ambitions. Now, this girl and the other. I’ll find her and bring her back. And I’ll kill that man, Kabuto, so that he can not continue in his master’s footsteps.”
“Careful, Genma. You are beginning to sound a lot like Naruto.” She said, smiling the entire time.


Ino stood in the Hokage’s office with Iyashi and Sakura. It was strange to be called in like this and she wasn’t sure if the village leader was going to punish her. It wasn’t a crime to date a Medic Nin, and she technically wasn’t.
Tsunade sat behind her desk, staring at them as if she was waiting for something. The door opened and two Jounin stepped in followed by three genin.
“Hey, the log lady! How are you, old lady?” the first boy said, as he stopped and grinned at her. “Are you going on our mission with us?” Ino stared at him, then looked up at the faces of the two men.
It was Him. The evil Jounin and some other man she had seen before but never worked with. Ino glared at them both, just for existing.
“Attention!” Tsunade said, standing. “This is an important mission. I am, not only trusting you to carry it out, but to make sure that all of this team returns. It is an A ranked mission and I do not want these three endangered at any time.” She said pointing to the three youths.
Great, Ino thought, she was only along to baby-sit.
“You’re team leader is Genma, as he found the first missing Nin. There is a health issue and that is why we are including two medics”
Genma stood forward and addressed the team. “The ninja you are looking for is pregnant. I needed Haruna-san for her experience in that issue. You have delivered a baby, have you not, and aided in prenatal care?” Sakura nodded.
Ino smiled. She was right beside Sakura when Ayame’s baby was born, and she remembered the girl shaking like a leaf.
“This child has some time before delivery but the mother may be in poor health. We aren’t sure of the actual conditions she is in. The other girl was not too bad off but she was looking for help for her friend. She is currently stable. The injured contact supplied us with the rest of our information, and I think we know where to look. But there is someone else hunting for her, also. Kabuto.” And the room was silent.
“I have personally chosen each of you, based on your abilities and experience. I trust you all to come through when your skill is demanded of you. Now, go pack. I expect us to be gone for two weeks.” And they were dismissed.
“An A ranked mission. I never thought I’d go on one of those, even as a Chuunin, how about you Ino?” Sakura asked as they reached the tower doors.
“Hmmm? Oh, no. I didn’t. I just wonder what he meant, our abilities and experience. I have no experience in anything like this. Sakura, why did he choose me?” She asked.
The pink haired girl just shrugged, and they continued on in silence.
After dropping Sakura off and heading for her house, she passed the ramen stand and heard the loud voices inside. Well, if she was going to be gone, she could stop and say good-bye. As long as she was quick about it.
Sure enough inside of Ichiraku’s stand, in his usual place, was Naruto. His trademark orange jumpsuit had been discarded when he grew too tall and couldn’t find a new one that fit. He was seated at the counter with three empty bowl, in a tight black shirt with equally form fitting blue jeans. Next to him was Sasuke, stirring a half filled bowl and nodding when the boisterous Jounin said something to him. They had both made the next level recently and wore it as well as the uniform very well in her opinion, though she had long ago given up on the dark haired Uchiha. Some things were just unattainable. Next to Sasuke was Choji and then came Shikamaru. They were talking about some Jutsu that Naruto had learned from Jiraiya and Sasuke had just admitted that he had been impressed by how fast Naruto had perfected it.
Ino stood silent.
Sasuke had been impressed by the loud mouthed, overzealous, blond???
Ino looked around, making sure there was no earth shattering lightening bolt coming.
“Well, now I have heard everything,” Shikamaru said. “You are complimenting Naruto?” He finished, echoing Ino’s thoughts.
“If he deserves it, yeah. It’s still pretty rare. Don’t get too used to it, Dobe.” The dark haired man said. Ino stepped forward then, making her presence known.
“Ino! Come on in and hear about my new Jutsu!” Naruto said, jumping up and pointing to a stool.
“I just did. Congratulations, Naruto.” And she wasn’t sure if she were congratulating him on the jutsu or the compliment from his stoic rival
Naruto beamed, not caring which she chose. Ino sat in the open seat and looked over at her friends.
“Choji, you don’t look good. Have you been ill?” She asked and was greeted by a shocked expression. “What? You look thinner is all, and I liked you the way you were. Everybody does. Don’t you dare be dieting, do you hear me?”
Choji blanched and nodded, placing another mouthful between his lips.
They talked for a while and Ino told them that she was going on a mission and would be gone for a few days, and they wished her well and expressed their faith in her being successful. She said good-bye and went home to pack.

With her pack over her shoulder, Ino met up with Sakura at the gate and they headed for the meeting place. It was quiet in the forest and neither girl spoke much, at first.
“Are you and Iyashi still dating?” Sakura asked when they were out of the Village vicinity but not near the meeting place.
“We sort of broke up a few months ago. There was this incident at the club, and well, he never quite forgave me. It wasn’t even my fault.” She admitted. “You and Lee gonna go out soon?” Ino asked back. Sakura paled, and then blushed.
“Is it that obvious?” she asked, and Ino chuckled.
“Only to me.” She said and they pushed through some brush to enter the glade. The rest of the team was there and the Jounin were standing near a large bush in the center. The three genin were playing rock-paper-stone, and Iyashi was checking over his gear.
“Good, you’re here. This is where I found the girl. She had made it this far before she was too exhausted to travel. We go this way, Kotetsu you lead the way with Yamanaka-san, and Haruna-san keep the genin with you and Iyashi in the middle, except for Konohamaru. You bring up the rear with me. Let’s go. Kotetsu knows our destination.”
And they took to the trees only traveling at the speed of the slowest member of the team, Moegi.


::::Ah, a mission. What would a Naruto fic be without a Mission or two? So, we are off to find the poor victim of Kabuto's evil plot! *Insert wicked laughter*
