Chapter V

Last chapter for ya'all before I take my break. Enjoy.

In the end, (after Hinata regained composure), Kiba ended up with two upside-down triangles on both of his cheeks. He grinned wolfishly as he studied it in Neji’s hand-held mirror.
Oh, that reminds me!
“How’d you get to school Naruto?” he asked as he placed the mirror back on the table having missed Neji’s frown as he snatched it and placed it back in his pocket.

“Oh, Sas’ke-teme brought me. Though I had to resort to extreme measures…” he said absent-mindedly as he reminisced whiles washing off his hands. To say Kiba was surprised was an understatement but he quickly closed his mouth and stood up, brushing off his jeans. He glanced at the time on his phone and grimaced. It was nearly lunch and he wasn’t particularly looking forward to his journalist sensei’s questions as to why his project was put on hold.

“You’re having lunch with me?”

“Who else would I have lunch with? You promised to show me around school, remember? We have a lot to catch up on too…like why you ditched me and the band…oh and where’s Shino?” Naruto rambled.

“In the class across.”

“Hina-Chan and Neji are coming too, aren’t you?” Naruto asked them with a tilt of the head, said students could only nod at the adorable blond before them, “I hope they have ramen!”

“No chance. Ramen isn’t part of the menu, Blondie…though,” then he paused and looked to Neji, who glared at the knowing smirk Kiba had plastered on his face, “The student body council could make sure that doesn’t last…isn’t that right, Neji?” Neji crossed his arms over his chest and closed his eyes.

“Inuzuka, you forget that not only must the rest of the entire student body agree but the Head must also confirm it,” He then opened his eyes and looked at Naruto, “I have no problem agreeing, Naruto-kun. But you must also get the signature of the rest of the student body.”

“Eh? I can have glorious-ramen if I make people sign a petition?”

“Basically…”
Naruto squealed happily as he joy-jumped around their table and back causing Kiba to smile fondly.

“Baka, what if people don’t want ramen?” Naruto paused in mid-dance and turned slowly to face Kiba.

“Who doesn’t like ramen? It’s the best food ever! And if they don’t sign the petition – I’ll…I will…err I’ll…well I will…I shall make them sign it! Yeah!” he shouted then nodded as if agreeing to a resolve in his head.

“Nar-Naruto-k-kun…I’ll,” she paused, her face turning beet-red as she shut her eyes shut and shouted all in one breath, “I’ll-support-you-all-the-way!” Naruto smiled that dazzling smile and latched onto Hinata’s arms, nuzzling it as if he were a kitten and her arm was a…well something kittens love nuzzling. If possible, Hinata turned even redder and grew light-headed as she inhaled Naruto’s strawberriness!

“Sankyuu, Hina-Chan, You’re the best friend any one could ever have!” she replied by nodding numbly. Neji rolled his eyes subtlety whiles Kiba huffed like a kicked puppy.

“I thought I was your best friend…” he mumbled under his breath as he turned away. At least, this, Neji was happy about. His smirk soon turned to a frown though as Naruto detached himself from Hinata and latched unto Kiba instead, having heard what he’d said and giving Hinata a chance to breathe and relax.

“You are my best friend – but you abandoned me when you left to come here!”

“I had no choice!” Kiba hissed and half-heartedly tried to pry Naruto off.
You drove me away…when you rejected me.’ He turned away from Naruto when he couldn’t get him off.
Naruto’s bottom lip jutted out and he slowly let him go.

“You never told me why you left…” he said quietly as he took his place back in between Hinata and Neji and took out a piece of lined-paper to start his petition.

“Yeah well…”
It’s not my fault you purposefully chose to avoid me.

Naruto seemed to remember this because he paused in between writing and smiled at Kiba apologetically.
“It doesn’t matter now though, does it?”
Neji raised a delicate brow at Naruto’s sad smile and Kiba’s expression.

“I’ll see you before lunch, Inuzuka.” He stated coolly, trying his best not to choke him out right then and there.

“Naruto-kun, do you want to pin your painting out in the hall way right now? It’s dry, isn’t it?” she said as she walked up behind Naruto’s table.

“Hai, Kurenai-sensei!” the two walked out into the hall way with Naruto clutching his painting.

“Hinata, could you please bring me some drawing pins?” Kurenai asked before she closed the door. Hinata nodded and went over to the teacher’s desk for the afore mentioned items.
That left Kiba and Neji sitting at the table…alone…un-supervised.

“What is your purpose with Naruto-kun?” He asked, arms crossed over chest and eyes closed.

“He’s not here, you can drop the act.” Kiba spat. Neji smirked, looking all-knowing as he repeated himself.

“What is your purpose with Naruto-kun?”

“What would you say if I said we are going out?” Kiba countered question with question.

“I’d call you a liar.”

“Okay…what would you say if I told you I was his first?” he tried again.

“I’d make your life here in Konoha a living hell.” Neji’s eyes snapped open as he made to jump at Kiba but paused when he spoke.

“It won’t work.” He simply stated.

“Excuse me?”

“It won’t work you and him. Believe me, like I said, I tried. He’s homophobic.” Kiba more than wished he could whip out his phone and take a shot of Neji’s stricken expression.
“You lie!” he growled out.
Kiba shook his head in disagreement.

“I’d advice you not to do it so openly; he’ll never talk to you again otherwise.”
Neji was at a loss for words. This couldn’t be happening…oh, but it was. He cursed silently and rubbed his temples. This was all too much for him and he felt the onslaught of a headache approaching steadily. He sat back slowly in his seat and re-crossed his arms over his chest.
“I could…help you, if you give me something back in return.” Kiba’s voice held so much triumph. What made him so sure Neji would accept his deal?

“Stake your offer.”
Simple, because he could see in Neji’s eyes – he was desperate.

“Sasuke…”

“Uchiha? What do you want from him?” he could not understand why Kiba would want Uchiha. Better yet, why he was willing to do something as lowly as this for one’s attention.

“His demise…” Cue evil laughter. Even Neji was slightly disturbed by the scene. Nonetheless, he was not bothered by the statement, for he too had wanted so long to watch the Uchiha crumble. But he could not push away this curiosity building up inside him.

“Why is that?” he asked indifferently. Kiba paused in mid-laughter after coughing slightly.

“He took something of mine.”…Was the simple answer Kiba gave him, then promptly resumed his alarmingly disturbing laughter. Neji wondered for a moment why Naruto, with his adorable smile and charming looks, would hang out with this insane, dog-loving maniac. Did Naruto even know Kiba was so…disturbed? And with a terrible mean, evil-plotting streak?

I doubt it.’ he thought off-handily.
“So you want me to aid you in bringing the Uchiha down?”

“Well…yes…okay, not exactly. It’s actually for my journalism project. We are to research on someone and…well you get the picture. As you know, the school newspaper is not what you’d call interesting. So for a project, we’re s’pposed to find something that will capture the attention of the students of the school. It was going to be you…but then,” Kiba paused and inched away when he saw that heated glare on Neji’s face, “I have nothing against you…I’ll be glad if you could leave it that way. I just want some dirt on him.”

“That is low…even for you. Do as you wish, Inuzuka, but do not draw me into this.”

“Nothing will change your mind?”

“No.” Neji answered impassively.

“Hmm…then I suppose you don’t want to know the best way to Naruto’s heart.” He mumbled to himself, though intentionally loud enough for Neji’s ears to catch on. Neji stiffened for a mere second before he relaxed and smirked.

“Actually, no. I think I already know.”

“Really?”

“I believe so, yes,” He reached out for the paper Naruto left behind and signed his name in the first slot with his neat, perfect handwriting, “Aren’t you going to sign, Inuzuka?” Kiba scowled and rudely snatched the paper from between Neji’s fingers.

“Whatever, Hyuuga-san,” he mumbled angrily as he scrawled his name onto the paper, “I still think you need help,” He glanced up from the paper and smirked, “What are you doing in art anyway? Don’t you have business?” he asked recalling Neji’s uncomforting posture when Naruto had asked why he’d taken art.

“None of your business. You’d do well to stay out of it.” He answered coolly. Kiba shrugged and folded up the piece of paper, tucking it in his shirt pocket.

“-in the class, should I ask, Naruto-kun?” came the voice of Kurenai as her, Naruto and Hinata re-entered the room.

“Sankyuu! I’d love that!” Naruto exclaimed bouncing on his heel happily. The girls in the class…and a few boys, coo’ed at the sight.

“You’re welcome. Grab the paper and bring it right over.” She sat down and waited for Naruto to come back.

“Eh? Kiba, have you seen my paper?” Kiba was too busy staring at Hinata but he handed the paper to Naruto all the same. Naruto run back to the front and waved around for the student’s attention, “Ohayou!” That worked just fine as everyone dropped their paint brushes and work to look at the excited blond that stood before them. Kurenai chuckled as she came to stand in front of her desk.

Maybe I should get him to stand infront of the class like this when I want them to be quiet…
“Naruto-kun would like you all to kindly sign his petition for the school council to approve of…” she looked to Naruto for confirmation, “Ramen, was it?” with the blond’s nod she continued, “He needs your signatures to make that possible so if you’d please – eep!” she was cut off as she was nearly barged out of the way by a group of girls trying to make a grab for the paper.

“I’ll make your dream come true, Naruto-kun!”
“I’ll sign your petition, Naruto-kuuunn!”
“I love you Naruto-kun!” a random girl had proclaimed.
It was chaotic in the classroom for a moment as they all tried to sign the paper at once. Naruto sweat dropped as he edged closer to wall to get away from them all.

“Can you…can y-you please…errm…form a line?” he asked timidly.
I almost forgot how brash and scary they could be!
They all paused and looked at Naruto as he clinged to the wall.
It was strangely quiet…then the noise was back again as several girls tried to be the first in line, which then broke out in a scuffle.
Dear Lord, if it’s like this in class, then what will happen if I ask people at lunch time?

Eventually they got into a semblance of order but the line still looked untrusting and there were a few girls who were still barging their way to the front.
---------
The bell rung signalling the beginning of lunch as the girls…and the rest of the students reluctantly filed out into the corridor (still with their face paintings on) regretful to leave their “fun” art lesson. Which left students from other classes wondering faintly why they had their faces painted…until they saw both Hyuugas, Naruto and Kiba walking out the class.

“Food!” Naruto followed after Kiba and Neji as Hinata trailed beside him. He scanned the abused paper for the signatures and smiled as he noticed he’d need another paper. This one was full. Most of the names had numbers beside them.
“Oi, Neji! How many signatures do I need?”
Neji slowed down to match Naruto’s pace and glanced at the paper. He frowned when he noticed all the numbers and love hearts beside the names.

“I think…that will be enough.” He said.

“S-so…Na-Naruto-kun will be get-getting his ramen n-now?” Neji glanced at Hinata before holding his hand out for the paper.

“I’ll see what I can do.”

“Yatta! Arigatou gozaimasou!” he exclaimed loudly before latching onto Neji’s arm. Students in the hallway paused and a couple of books dropped to the floor as they looked on. Whether in pure unshed horror, amazement, wonder or just green envy…that was left to be unsaid.
And that is how they entered the cafeteria, with Naruto still latched unto Neji’s arm and Kiba trying to talk to Hinata with his arm slung casually over her shoulder and her turning a slight shade of red and stuttering quite profoundly as she wasn’t used to human contact, nevertheless Naruto-kun’s weird friend.
