Chapter 6

“Am I allowed to walk now?”
Tsunade nodded confidently, removing Sakura’s IV drip. Sakura gingerly got out of the bed, feeling the cold air on her feet.
“Finally.”
She stood shakily, after not walking for weeks, but soon regained her bearings. She walked around the room once, twice, three times, almost laughing with the pure sensation.
“Tsunade-shishō, can we go to Ichiraku? I suspect Naruto will be there and I haven’t seen him since I returned.”
Tsunade disapproved of this sudden wish to go outside, but it wasn’t cold and Sakura appeared well enough to do so.
“Fine. But not for long. I don’t want to sit there for half the afternoon.”
Sakura grinned and put on her hitae-ate.

They walked up to the familiar ramen bar, and as expected, Naruto was already there. He greeted them both with the exuberance of an overexcited puppy, dragging Sakura into an overly friendly hug. Tsunade had to pull him away. They both sat down and placed their orders, Sakura choosing the bowl even bigger than Naruto’s.
“You must be hungry, Sakura-chan, ordering such a huge portion.”
“Hell yeah! I haven’t eaten ramen since I went away!”
Naruto laughed at her obvious longing. He hadn’t seen Sakura’s strange way of expressing herself for a while now. As soon as her order was given to her, she started wolfing it down, but stopped to listen to Tsunade telling her off for eating so much. Naruto bombarded her with questions about how her journey went, not once mentioning Kakashi. Sakura answered gladly, relieved to be talking to someone who didn’t care about the fact that she was eating so much, or that she was so pale. Just talking to her.
Naruto leant over to Tsunade while Sakura was eating.
“How’s Kakashi?”
Tsunade furrowed her brow.
“I was planning to tell Sakura soon. I guess it can’t wait.”
Sakura stopped eating. Did she hear the name Kakashi? Tsunade sat to face her, a sad expression on her face.
“What is it, Tsunade-shishō?”
“I was planning to tell you later, but I guess I can’t put it off any longer.”
Sakura looked at her inquisitively.
“It’s about Kakashi.”
Sakura’s grip on her seat tightened.
“He…he’s in a coma.”
A pair of chopsticks clattered to the ground as Sakura stared at her shishō, shocked into a terrified silence.
A coma. Incurable. Unstable.
Why this?
