Chapter 6 Leaves of Deception
-Root Headquarters-
Three elders sat silently, contemplating the current threat against Konoha. Playing political chess, removing threats with the swiftness of a tyrant; now it appears the past was not eliminated, but survived. Gaining in power, becoming more cunning.
Excellent council material.
“I gather rumors are true concerning Uchiha Madara being alive. He survived the fight against Shodamine.”
“That is apparent. Events surrounding his death are clouded in mystery. With him alive I question Kyuubi’s attack on the village.”
“I believe so, since he was betrayed by his fellow clansmen, wanting peace above war.”
Fixing the Root leader with a questioning look, the only female decided to speak, “Your brother has declared war, Danzo, will you face him? Our plans must succeed otherwise Konoha will fall into his hands.”
Danzo really disliked this annoying woman, her screeching and constant complaining grated on his nerves. She has never fought a day in her life. “I am quite aware of my dear older brother, but we must proceed strategically. I have informed root member captains of what is to come and, Tsunade has informed ANBU troops. She has requested assistance from Sand and Grass.”
His office interior reflected the Root leader’s cold and unmerciful character. Dark gray walls, and floor contrasting charcoal curtains, hung idle covering clear transom windows. Sparse furniture provided essentials a metal desk, three chairs, and two bookshelves.
“We must prepare Konoha for war. My brother and I had a difference of opinion when deciding the future of the Clan. Besides, must I forget he stole my eyes.”
“The Leaf can handle this endeavor. However, Danzo, your sibling must not obtain Uzumaki.”
“We must call of meeting with Tsunade to discuss the necessary precautions preventing Uzumaki’s capture. He should return within a year from training, how fortunate for the Leaf.”
“Very well Danzo, lest we overlook our placement within the Five Elemental Nations, and our goal to maintain Fire Country’s position of Power.”
“We will meet four days from today, Good evening Danzo.”
-Uchiha Compound-
He was not Sasuke. Understanding the route of vengeance will never be quelled, once walked the path leads to an unyielding thirst that will not be quenched. The conduit was paved Madara impersonated him with Pein, Itachi left bereft. No choice, he agreed with the mad Uchiha, he had saved Sasuke.
Itachi’s desire for retribution extends to the Uchiha Council of Elders. He planned to collect what is due from unsavory characters, never losing sleep knowing they will pay for all of their misdeeds.
For the first time in years he laughed, he laughed at his life, remembering his forced sacrifice.
He laughed at Yodamine for his sacrifice.
He laughed at Jiraiya for his sacrifice.
He laughed at Hizashi for his sacrifice.
He laughed at Madara for his stupidity, not understanding why he never wins; laughing he remembered Madara poisoning him, ensuring Sasuke an easy victory.
He laughed harder because once the elder Raven discovered the prodigy alive and immortal he would realize lost again. He appreciated that reality knowing the Mad Uchiha was beaten by Konoha.
Unlike most ninja’s he welcomed both sides of his personality. The sadistic side allowed him to extend punishment against treacherous enemies, or prolong sexual encounters, driving bed-partners over the edge, begging and moaning, Itachi relished in those most as the sadist in him preened.
Deception. He would correct that later in the near future, Naruto need not know Madara killed the Clan using a transformation jutsu. By the time he returned from his mission everyone was dead, save Sasuke and another Uchiha. His fate was sealed. The Raven’s heart cried for his brother wishing, hoping, and praying to an uncertain future, hardening his resolve.
“Naruto-kun, sit let’s talk.”
Setting a tray of tea atop the zataku between them, resting on his claves, he poured a cup for Itachi, and then himself.
“What do you want to discuss, Uchiha-sama?”
He stopped mid-sip, his attention undivided, directed to Naruto. This was new Uchiha-sama.
“You know, I never understood why would someone wipe-out their entire clan, but better for me, ne. The Uchiha Clan hated my clan from what I was told. Therefore, you will assist me in obtaining what I desire most.”
Itachi tried to speak, his tongue felt thick, breathing became difficult, and his sweating was profuse.
The tea was poisoned.
“Ah, so you realize now that the tea was poisoned. I consumed the antidote before hand. Don’t worry it will not kill you, just render you immobile, temporary paralysis. Here is the best part, I added something special just for you preventing acces to your chakra.”
“Na-ru,” he managed to speak before darkness filled his vision.
Tossing the Raven over his shoulder, both teleported out of the Uchiha main house. Naruto spoke before the teleportation jutsu completed.
“A paint job is in order here,” before vanishing in a swirl of pink petals and leaves.
