BONUS CHAPTER: Konoha's Bright Future
(Fifteen Years Later…)
“Um…exc...excuse me…!” the young kunoichi stammered.
The two jounin turned around and the two young ladies felt the heat rush to their cheeks. The two guys both had large surfboards tucked under their arms, letting the two ladies know they were off to the beach on that hot, Konoha day. The tall, handsome son of their Hokage looked everything like his father, however, his hair was combed straight back and pulled into a ponytail that ran it’s spiky trail down his back. On his day off, was dressed as casually as his best friend; in a simple, sleeveless, black shirt and a pair of orange swim-trunks. However, her objective was said best friend standing beside him; the one with beautiful, jet-black hair pulled into a thin ponytail that had trailed all the way down to his spine and the most beautiful green eyes anyone had ever seen. He was dressed casually in a pair of black swim-trunks and a dark-blue t-shirt with his family emblem on it, a red and white fan.
“Tsubasa-San,”
The girl stood behind her friend, hands on her shoulders.
”This Ibuki-Chan. She’s liked you for a long time…”
The shy girl quickly extended an envelope to the son of Sasuke-Uchiha. He accepted the love note and smiled.
“Thank you. Ibuki-San, was it?”
The girl nodded with a blush before hurrying off with her friend. Tsubasa couldn’t help but chuckle a little bit.
”Damn, she ran off.”
”Maybe it’s your breath,”
Tsubasa glared at his blonde friend and son of the Hokage, who was simply grinning.
”I’m kidding, I’m kidding! Anyway, I don’t think you could date anyone else.”
”What’s that supposed to mean?!” Tsubasa blushed.
Hikaru said nothing and just continued walking on. When they finally reached the beach, Hikaru stopped dead in his tracks and this time around, it was Tsubasa’s turn to do the teasing. Walking towards them was a beauty in a pure white bikini, with the bottoms resembling a little frilly skirt of sorts. Her short, shoulder-length hair was pulled back a little and out of her face. Walking beside her was Hikaru’s cousin and son of the current Yukikage. Despite him being a year or so younger than Hikaru or Tsubasa, he acted just as mature. His long, black hair was hanging all the way down to his black trunks. Tsubasa smirked a little. Hikaru was every bit like his father, accept in one aspect…
“Oh, look! Hikaru-Chan, you’re finally here!”
…Hikaru froze when in the presence of the girl he liked; a reverse trait for Hinata that was still with her to this very day.
“Yo, Sun-Ce.” Tsubasa greeted.
“Hey. We’re just off to get a watermelon.”
Tsubasa never missed a chance. To embaress his best friend, that is.
“Hye, Sun-Ce, why don’t we let Hikaru and Hikari-Chan get it?”
”Wow, that’s awfully nice of you, Oniichan.” Hikari smiled.
”WHAT?!” Hikaru asked.
He looked at Hikari who looked a little insulted.
”Don’t you wanna come with me?”
He was stuck, point blank. Wildly shaking his head, he hurried off with Hikari, leaving behind a very amused Tsubasa and Sun-Ce. As Hikaru and Hikari walked off to the pier where most of the stores were, Hikaru tried fighting the urges that had been hitting him since puberty. Sure, Hikari and he had been friends for so long, but for her to mature so beautifully? He wouldn’t bring up the fact that when they were younger, he could have sworn they Hikari was a boy. How wrong he’d been. When they returned to the beach site, watermelon in hand, they saw another Hyuuga girl playing with a little puppy, almost resembling Akamaru.
“Get the ball, Hige!”
The dog yapped and rushed into the surf after the ball. She turned and looked at Hikaru waving excitedly.
“Cousin Hikaru!”
Arashi hurried towards Hikaru, hugging him excitedly. Arashi was just like her father now; wild and unpredictable, but loyal as one could be. She was adorned in a black bathing suit, even going so far as to sport Kiba’s signature red markings on her face. Among them as well, was Yotsuba, son of Temari and Shikamaru, who was sporting his father’s signature spiky ponytail and even wearing two pair of silver earrings like his father. Yotsuba was still a bit anti-social, except for the ones he was comfortable around; mainly his friends and family, but even that attitude was followed by a very uneven mixed of Temari’s ‘No Nonsense’ attitude and Shikamaru’s laid back personality. As of now, he was in the middle of debating something with the blonde daughter of Ino and Chouji. Kohaku was definitely vain and beautiful like her mother, but very gentle like Chouji. Arashi stood up, wanting to play a game of tag with Sun-Ce’s younger brothers, Shan-Hyuu and the youngest brother, named after their grandfather, Hizashi. As far as age range, Arashi, Shan-Hyuu, Hizashi and Kohaku were closest. Well, them and one other kunoichi.
“Oniichan…!”
Hikaru recognized the adorable voice anywhere. Tsubasa’s head snapped up, just in time to see Hikaru’s younger sister come to shore, a large surfboard tucked under her arm. A blush flared across Tsubasa’s cheeks, this time around. Sure, Aoi was the youngest out of all them, being fourteen, soon-to-be fifteen, but what a body she had on her. Much to his chagrin, she was wearing a light-blue bikini. Her short, blonde hair was pulled into two, cutely-stubby pigtails, held with two, pink flowers. She jammed her board into the sand and hurried over to the umbrellas where everyone was sitting. She rushed past her brother, throwing her arms around Tsubasa.
”Tsuba-Kun! THERE you are! I was worried you weren’t gonna show!”
A strange vibe made Tsubasa look at Hikaru who’d innocently turned his head, pretending to be more intrigued with a sea-gull. Hikaru wondered what all of the kunoichi would think if they knew their rival for the handsome Tsubasa’s feelings was a girl who was not only younger than him, but the baby sister of their Hokage’s first son and child. Tsubasa could only smile, putting his hand on her head as if he might a small puppy.
“Aoi-Chan, how’s the surf?”
”Great! Grab your board!”
Tsubasa stood up, taking off his shirt and the girls all blushed. Tsubasa was so hot, could they not stare? Most of the guys, save for Hikaru, envied Tsubasa’s ‘relationship’ with Aoi. One, she was the cutest damn thing in Konoha, two, her personality was a good, even mix of Naruto and Hinata’s, but mostly she had inherited Hinata’s cuteness and three, she developed just as well as Hinata had when she was fifteen. While Tsubasa and Aoi headed out to surf, Hikaru sat on the beach blanket beside Hikari who was watching them have fun.
”They look so cute together. Age difference, my foot!”
”Yeah. Aoi always talks about ‘Tsuba-Chan’ all the time.” Hikaru chuckled.
Hikari giggled and Hikaru simply smiled at her. She brought her knees to her chest and a small blush tinted her cheeks.
”Nee, Hikaru-Kun?”
”Hmm?”
”The Tanabata festival is tonight. Do…you wanna go together?”
Hikaru blushed a little, but Hikari was probably the most nervous; she’d always had such a crush on Hikaru, ever since they were little. Whenever she and her mother came upon Hikaru and his father walking around together, she remembered always wanting to hide her face from him.
”Su…sure, Hikari-Chan! That sounds like fun.”
”Great! Afterwards, we can watch the fireworks!”
“Sure, is everyone going?”
Hikari blushed again, looking at him.
“Actually…I was just thinking it could be us two.”
“Alone?!” Hikaru blushed.
She huffed, turning her head.
“Idiot! If two people like each other, they always want to be alone!”
Hikaru was floating on air. She liked him? He blushed, scratching the back of his head.
”I…I…um…Thanks, Hikari-Chan…I…um…like you too.”
She turned her head back to face him, a smile on her face.
“Good.”
Hesitantly, he put his hand on top of hers and they watched the ocean together. It was a little after two when the parents finally showed up. They had brought three watermelons with them and soon, the family beach party was in full swing. By sunset, everyone was packing up and heading back to Konoha. The wife of Naruto Uzumaki watched as her son and her goddaughter walked side-by-side, blushes on both of their faces. She was startled when she felt a strong hand on her shoulder.
”Nee, what’s wrong, Hinata-Chan?”
Hinata simply shook her head with a giggle.
“Nothing, Naruto-Kun. Everything’s just fine.”
And it was. It really was.
The End! (Officially, lol)
