Part 7
Chimera
Part 7

Naruto awoke groggily, confused when he didn’t see Sasuke in his immediate grasp as he had remembered when he fell asleep. He made a confused, weak sound. He barely remembered to change forms and dress again before staggering out of the small tent, almost forgetting to dress, intent on finding the reason for his Sasuke’s absence.
Everyone other than himself had bunched together to prepare breakfast, almost entire composed of meat, probably due to Sasuke. The smell was enticing and he willingly wandered into the main campsite to see what they had prepared, ready to devour anything he saw before Chouji got to it.
Someone had figured out that he ate a lot, to say the least. Countless fish were almost ready to eat as well a turkey, four pheasants, a small deer, and a wild pig. Smiling to himself, Naruto wandered into the main camp, eager to devour anything he could get his hands on. Not bothering with formalities, he yanked the leg off of the pig and started eating, pausing only when addressed.
“Um… Nakyma… you know that’s dangerous to eat undercooked meat?” Ino offered.
“It’s okay. I’m not human,” Naruto answered, pained by the information he had just passed on.
“You are at the moment,” Ino reciprocated.
Naruto shrugged. “Trust me, I’m fine.”
After an uncomfortable breakfast, the group started back towards Kohana, Naruto flanked on either side by Sasuke, who knew his secret, Kiba, who was baffled by his familiar but not quite familiar scent, and behind by Kakashi and Jiraiya, both of which had noticed strange behaviorisms about him. The former-blond took it all in stride, pretending that the group wasn’t monitoring him closely or that the scouts sent ahead and to their sides weren’t there to make sure he didn’t have reinforcements. After a few hours, the large group came to the conclusion that he truly was alone and of no threat, congregating once again into one main mass traveling down the road.
When Chouji started to complain of being hungry, Naruto vanished in a blink, returning with half a dozen fish, two turkeys and a wild boar. The moment he disappeared, Sasuke started ordering the others to collect firewood and prepare spits, much to the surprise of the jounin present, who obeyed as well simply since the pair seemed to get along and they had no intent of driving off the white creature they had encountered.
Yawning, Naruto skinned and prepared the food to cook, twirling his fingers briefly to convince the spits to spin on their own. Unlike the others, who had to wait for their food to properly cook, Naruto claimed one fish, half of a turkey, and the leg of the boar before wandering off to considerately eat out of sight. To him, cooked meat no longer tasted quite right and since raw meat didn’t hurt him, he simply loaded his arms with food and moved out of visual range. After a few moments when his food had cooked, rare but no longer raw, Sasuke followed, butting shoulders with his teammate before sitting down to eat his extremely rare food.

Sorry that it’s so short. Real life has been using my head like a trampoline. I’ll try to get some more out soon.
