chapter vii
A/N: GAAAAAAAAAAA~ I have psychology finals today! WHY AM I WRITING FANFICTION!?!!!?!??!?!?!?! Anyhow, here it is. I'm going to sleep. Oh and I wrote it on notepad and I didn't spellcheck or proofread. I'm sure there are errors. But I'm too tired to correct them.

Under the Enemy's Roof
chapter vii
---------------------------------------------------
"No!" screamed Naruto as his eyes grazed over the tiny needle fearfully. He clutched the juncture between his forearm and upper arm in panic as he scooted over to the opposite corner of the bed. Ms. Uchiha stared at the blonde, surprised at his outburst, latex glove hanging loosely over her fingers as she couldn't locate her personal box of small-sized ones. Itachi sat in the corner, head proped up with an arm and legs crossed with aristocratic leisure as he looked at Naruto with glittering amusement shining from his eyes. A faint crash was heard from outside the door.
"Fuck!" came the irritated cry as Sasuke was revealed picking up the remenants of a bowl of rament from the carpet. Apparently he had been delivering ramen to Naruto's room, a chore that he had been forced into as punishment, everyday for the past couple of days as his fussy parents kept Naruto bedridden and spoiled, when he heard the yelp from within the room. He honestly didn't know why they doted on the overly-loud boy so much, but he figured that since the blonde's grades were already so poor, it wouldn't matter if they kept him in for another few days. It was absolutely no matter to them that Naruto had already missed more than a week's worth of classes within two weeks of entering his new school.
"Tsk, tsk, little brother, language," scolded Itachi playfully. Sasuke was tempted to stick his tongue out at his older brother, but decided against it upon the glare of his mother, who, coincidentally, was thinking of scolding him of the same thing, though not as lightheartedly. However, the frantic rustling of bedding reminded the woman of her current charge, as she turned to regard her patient.
She found him hiding in the space between the wall and the bed, crouching furitively, hoping everyone would forget his very existence. "Naruto-kun," she said, exasperated, "I'm only going to draw a little bit of blood! I promise it won't hurt at all."
"No~!" wailed Naruto as he sunk lower into the ground, cowering in the presence of the needle.
"Tch," snickered Sasuke as he took in the situation. "what, the idiot's afraid of a little needle the size of my little finger?"
He felt a familiar poke on his forehead as soon as he uttered the words. Scowling at his older brother, he rubbed his forehead ruefully. "Now, now little brother, everyone has their fears," chided the older Uchiha. "Besides, when you were little, I recall that you were afraid of--"
"Oh stop it both of you, and help me get ahold of Naruto-kun," interrupted their mother as she tried in vain to get Naruto to come out from his hiding place.
Itachi complied readily while Sasuke rolled his eyes once before following his brother's lead. The elder brother positioned himself across from the bed, gripping hold of one of Naruto's tanned arms. The younger one stormed over to where the cowering boy hid and, wrapping his arms around Naruto's torso before the other boy had time to react, hoisted the blonde up in one fluid motion. Still, the lively boy struggled against his captors, trying desperately to wiggle out of their iron hold. The woman stood before the trio, needle in hand, trying to pinpoint the vein that she was trying to sink the tip into. However, finding the boy to be squirming too much to even find a vein, much less drive her syringe into it, she sighed in frustration.
"Naruto-kun, I can't take your blood with you moving around like that!"
"THEN DON'T!" retorted Naruto loudly as he continued to struggle. Itachi looked boredly out the window while Sasuke looked thoroughly annoyed.
Sighing again, the woman glanced at her two sons and said, "Itachi, Sasuke, the two of you are just going have to calm him down. At this rate, there won't be any veins visible for me to give him a shot for."
"WHAT?!" yelled Sasuke incredulously. Sure, he and Itachi had had to suffer through the process before, as both their parents were doctors, usually with squeamish girls, but even then, all it took was their presence to calm them down. "How do you suppose we do that?"
"Just hold his hand and reassure him," replied his mother rather matter-of-factly. "Like what Itachi's doing."
Turning around, he found his brother's fingers intertwined with Naruto's relatively short ones as he petted the blonde's messy mop of hair. From what he could tell Itachi looked like he was mumbling sweet nothings into his classmate's ear. It unnerved him to see how his mother treated the scene as if it was a walk through the park. Nothing unusual. Just her son sweet talking his legal brother.
"Naruto-kun," said Itachi soothingly as he worked out a tangle in the other's hair, "how about after this I'll take you out to eat some ramen?"
Narutos's blue eyes grew wide at the offer. Sasuke's did the opposite.
Grabbing the boy's other hand rather roughly, the younger Uchiha mimicked his brother, wincing at the strangeness of the sensation. He had never held anyone's hand before.
"Oi, dobe, after this I'll take you out to see the new movie that came out." Looking at his brother, he detected a small smirk, and added, "and afterwards take you to ramen."
Not to be outdone, the elder Uchiha lowered his voice sensually and, running a finger over a whisker-mark, purred, "And I'll take you out tonight to go clubbing with Kisame-san and I in Tokyo. You'd like that, wouldn't you, Naruto-kun?"
"Um...but I'm too young to-"
"It's okay, I've got connections," reassured the older Uchiha with a leer at his brother's fuming.
"I'll take you out to the Yokohama waterside amusement park," retorted Sasuke immediately with a pointed glower at his brother though he immediately grimaced as he took in what he just said.
"Reall--OW!" cried Naruto as his guardian jabbed the needle into his arm. He tried to struggle up to pull the offending object from his flesh only to be pushed down by two strong arms.
"Now, now, Naruto-kun, don't look," whispered Itachi as he put a hand over Naruto's wide blue eyes to shield him from the sight of blood steadily streaming into the tube.
"GAH! THAT WASN'T FAIR! MAKE IT STOP!" screeched Naruto as he neared hysteria. He would have started kicking his legs if he didn't find a sudden weight over those as well. "AND WHOEVER IT IS, GET OFF OF ME!"
He whimpered as he felt the needle leave his skin abruptly and a harsh pressure applied to the spot where the syringe had once been.
"Now that wasn't so bad now was it, Naruto-kun?" asked a chipper Ms. Uchiha, obviously happy with a job well done. A moment later, Itachi removed his hand to reveal his mother putting away her medical supplies and a scowling Sasuke straddling him. The woman left hastily, blood sample in hand, eager to start analyzing it, not seeing the compromising position of her younger son.
"I guess Sasuke won, which is too bad, Naruto-kun," said Itachi smoothly over his shoulder as he too was about to leave the room. "I was looking forward to eating ramen with you."
Once out of the door, Naruto too was aware of the suggestive position that he and Sasuke were both in and shifted uncomfortably. "Um..."
Sasuke's face reddened.
"I...er...I'm going to go get your stupid ramen, dobe."
---------------------------------------------------------
"Naruto," came a familiar voice. The blonde opened his eyes warily. He was finally back in school, not that he wasn't okay being at the Uchiha house spending his days away eating ramen, reading manga, and dozing. Still, it was a little boring, even with the generous food benefits (his foster family had been shocked to find that his favorite food was something so...cheap, and thus, was more than happy to buy plenty of it for the boy, though Ms. Uchiha had forced him to take vitamins to substain his nutrient level). It was lunch now, and he was back to onigiri since ramen didn't pack well in bento boxes. Frankly, he would have been willing to eat the soggy noodles anyway. More flavorful.
He found himself looking up at Neji who was hovering over him, unreadable as always.
"Are you okay? You haven't been to school in a while now."
Naruto blinked as he tried to absorb the question. It wasn't often that someone expressed concern over him. Usually people simply ignored him.
"Uh, yeah, I'm okay," he began, a bit suspicious. "I just had another one of my attacks again, that's all."
The older boy's brow furrowed. "Attack?"
"Er, yeah," said the blonde, sitting up with a grin. "You know, like the one I had with Gaara. They're nothing serious. Sasuke's parents are just overprotective, I guess."
"I see," replied the Hyuuga as he comprehended the information, "and...does anything in particular cause these reactions?"
Naruto stopped and thought for a minute. "It...doesn't seem so. I guess whenever I'm really angry and not on my medication."
"And what happened?" asked Neji, determined to press the subject.
Not catching on, the younger boy replied, "Oh, nothing much this time, just...Sasuke...and some stuff he said." He expression darkened slightly as he remembered the words exchanged.
"I see..." With that, the white-eyed boy left.
---------------------------------------------------------
Sasuke was walking down the halls calmly as he made his way toward the art room, where he usually passed lunch. Although he didn't enjoy creating art himself, he found that it was mostly abandoned in a competitive school like this one, which was mostly academically oriented. There was only a shy little girl by the name of Hyuuga Hinata who sat in the corner working on the clay wheel quietly. She was quiet as a mouse and didn't do much in the way of bothering him, which was a relief considering his popularity in the school.
Suddenly, he felt a brutal force pushing against him and shoving him into a nearby wall. Recovering quickly, he was immediately in fighting mode, ready to beat whoever had done that into the ground. What he saw was an arrogant-looking Hyuuga staring calmly back at him.
"Hyuuga," spat Sasuke, "what the hell was that for?
"That," said Neji, with equal venom, "was for hurting Naruto."
With that, the older boy proceeded to walk down the hall, leaving a slightly disoriented Sasuke.
"You know," began the Uchiha, "this means war."
With a smirk, the other replied, "Good."
