Show and Tell

“Neji.” Ten Ten whispered softly next to Neji’s ear. He had quickly fallen asleep, but he hadn’t been asleep long, only a matter of minutes. “Neji.” Ten Ten kissed his temple. “Wake up, Neji.” Her voice was soothing. She had managed to cover him up with his discarded robe. She pushed his dark hair away from his face. She had loved watching him sleep, it was one of the few times she had ever seen him truly at peace and without constant torment. She felt that she would be seeing a much more content Neji.

Neji squirmed a little, he let out a long sigh. “How long have I been asleep?” He asked. He looked up at Ten Ten with his pale sparkling eyes.

“Only a few minutes. The only reason I woke you is because my left arm is kind of numb.” Neji had been dead weight on her left arm and now she was paying the price.

“No, you always wake me up when I fall asleep on you like that. It’s not considerate of me to get head and then pass out.” Neji sat up. Ten Ten laughed. “By the way where did you get that thong…that is one way to get me to do anything you ask. Neji flicked the dangerously thin strap against her skin. “What’s that made of?” Neji wondered running his fingers around her waist.

“It’s covered in chiffon material; I thought it would be different.” Ten Ten said putting her top on.

“Oh, it’s different alright…you should show that to me all the time.” Neji got dressed and pulled Ten Ten up from the ground. She hunted for her bobby pins to pin her little buns back in place. She started twisting and rolling one side of her hair, but Neji stopped her.

“Don’t pin your hair up. Leave it down, like this.” Neji started stroking her hair again. “It’s so beautiful like this.”

“But it’s all wavy.” Ten Ten insisted.

“So, I like it.” Ten Ten blushed and smiled all over. It thrilled her that he liked her long messy hair.

“Alright, but just because it’s your birthday today.” Neji smiled. He reached over and grabbed her hand. Ten Ten looked down. No one had ever held her hand before.

“Come on let’s go get something to eat.” Neji said as they left the sparring field.

“I don’t think I have any money on me. Can we stop by my house first?” Ten Ten asked.

“Don’t worry about it. I have money.”

“No, Neji, that’s not right of me. It won’t take me long. I just have to run in and right back out.

“Ten Ten, really, don’t worry about it. It’s okay.” Ten Ten wasn’t going to talk him out of it so she agreed to let him take her to dinner with him.The evening sun was upon them as they entered town.

“What sounds good to you?” Neji asked.

“It doesn’t matter, I’m not picky.” She answered.

“Rice balls, miso and apricots in coconut milk?”

“That sounds good.” Neji led Ten Ten to a small restaurant that his uncle frequented. They sat down at the counter. It was small, it seated no more than eight people at the counter, but Neji assured Ten Ten that the food was great. They placed their orders.

“So, Hiashi’s out of town until tomorrow evening.” Neji said eying Ten Ten.

“What are you saying?” She asked innocently, stirring her tea.

“There’s nothing to stop you from spending the night with me.”

“What about Hinata?” Ten Ten asked taking a sip of the calming ginger peach tea. Neji laughed.

“Hinata….oh…you would never believe it if I told you where Hinata was tonight…like as in not coming home tonight…think about it.” Neji said sipping a glass of water. Ten Ten’s eyes grew wide.

“No! Are you serious!? Really?! Damn, Hiashi being gone is the Hyuuga’s ticket to get busy.” Ten Ten was referring to Hinata spending the night with Naruto.

“Actually, that’s nothing short of the truth. Hinata and I have a deal. When Hiashi leaves, she does her thing, because he would kill her otherwise. Hinata has been with Naruto on more than one occasion. Now, our trade off would be that she would leave the house when the day came that I brought you back.”

“Me?” Ten Ten questioned.

“It’s always been you, Ten Ten . Always.” Neji sipped his water again. Their meals arrived.

“Okay, let me go home after we eat and get some clothes.” Ten Ten said.

“Itidakimasu!” She and Neji said nearly simultaneously. It was customary to say this before you ate.

“Ten Ten, baby, it’s not like you’ll need any, but I’ll play along and let you get whatever you want. Get 12 different outfits if that’s what makes you happy.” Neji winked. Ten Ten couldn’t help but laugh, of course she also found herself blushing; Neji had referred to as ‘baby’. “Damn, I could get used to that real fast.” She thought to herself.

“Just think, last time we ate together…we were virgins.” Ten Ten looked at Neji and raised her eyebrows.

“And next time we eat together…I’ll have to carry it to you.” Neji smiled again, the smile that defeated Ten Ten each time she saw it. They had finished dinner and Neji walked Ten Ten to her house. She unlocked the door and Neji followed her inside.

“Okay, I’ll be right back.” Ten Ten ran upstairs and threw a few toiletries into a bag. She grabbed the first thing she came to in her drawer and ran back downstairs.

“So, where’s your mother?” Neji asked.

“She’s visiting her sister. She’s not coming back for a while. She hasn’t seen her sister in years. You remember that when Hiashi comes back.” Ten Ten killed the lights and they headed out the door.

“Here, let me have your bag.” Neji took her bag from her without giving her a chance to offer it to him. He grabbed her hand again. “I don’t think you understand exactly how cool of a guy Hiashi is…well to me more than Hinata. He would actually wish he could walk in on me so he would know if I was doing the Hyuuga name justice.” Ten Ten laughed.

“My mom would completely flip. If she knew I had lost my virginity she would make it her quest to find out who it was too and then I don’t’ want to know what she would do.”

“Well, I’m sure things would be different if I were a girl. Parents keep tight reigns on girls.” It was a nice evening so Neji and Ten Ten took the long way to the Hyuuga Manor. “Remind me, I’ll show you Hiashi’s sake collection when we get to the house.”
