Graduation Exams… Let the training begin!
Disclaimer: I don’t own Naruto
Note: I’m sorry this was really rushed, but they changed my training time to 3pm which gives me very little time now. I’m hopeful that you guys will overlook some of the minor detail. Enjoy!
“Everyone settle down please, I have an important announcement to make.” Iruka silenced the chatter among his students.
“Now everyone, as you know summer is soon approaching and this will be your last year at the academy.” The student all cheered at that. Naruto and Sasuke high fived each other and smiled brightly.
“Quiet!” Silence fell in the room as Iruka yelled.
“Now, before you all get too excited you must pass the graduation exam. If you fail then I will be seeing you again next year.” A few groans were heard in the classroom.
Iruka sat at his desk and began to call out, “Naruto, Sasuke, go ahead and tell us what your research on the five elements of a great shinobi.” The two boys walked to the front of the classroom. Naruto smiled brightly and put an arm around Sasuke’s shoulder. Several of the girls glared at him, but he got accustomed to it after a few weeks.
“Me and Sasuke researched courage. Courage is of two kinds: First, physical courage, or courage in the presence of danger to the person, or someone special to him.” He held Sasuke tighter at which the black haired boy smiled. Sasuke continued “And then there is Moral Courage, or courage before responsibility, whether it be before the judgment seat of external authority, or of the inner power, the conscience.” Naruto continued on “Courage is a necessity to become a shinobi, you must use your courage to protect those who mean most to you.” Sasuke spoke up once more and smiled at Naruto “We learned from a great jounin, those who leave their friends are lower than dirt.” And Naruto finished the speech “As a shinobi you will find your lives and those of your friend’s always at stake. This is why courage is so important in our lives as ninja.” Iruka stood and applauded followed by the students in the class.
“Very good Naruto and Sasuke, excellent report. But you left out something about courage. Courage is the resistance to fear, mastery of fear- Not the absence of fear. When one professes courage too openly, by words or bearing, there is reason to mistrust it. To face despair and not give in to it…that is true courage ” The boys smiled at Iruka and nodded in understanding.
School ended and the boys were heading home. Naruto looked at his friend, “Sasuke I’m really going to need help, I don’t want to be held back. I mean I know I’m doing well but I haven’t mastered my chakra control, I just can’t seem to pull together the right amounts to perform the jutsus.” Sasuke got into a crouching position, “Ok then lets race to the training ground.” Naruto crouched down. They looked at each other, Sasuke started “One.” Naruto smirked at him and said “Two” and with a quick nod they both shouted “Three” and they were off.
The two boys panted as they finally reached the training ground. Sasuke and Naruto trained intensely for three hours. Sweat dripping off their bodies and soaking their shirts. Sasuke pinned Naruto to the ground and lay on top of him, Sasuke panted “and that’s….(intake of breath) how you take down an opponent while fighting in the trees. Sasuke rolled off Naruto and the two boys watched the clouds passing by.
Naruto formed a smile and spoke “Sasuke look, there’s a rabbit.” Sasuke chuckled.
“Look Naruto, it’s dog.” “
I’m not sure Sasuke it looks more like a horse.”
“Hmm…now that you mention it, it does look like a horse.”
Naruto rolled to his side and looked at Sasuke “Sasuke…I don’t know if I’m gonna pass the test. Something is still wrong with my clone jutsus, I can’t make a replica of myself. I just can’t seem to pull the right amounts of energy to perform the jutsu.” Sasuke saw his friend’s distress.
“Hey Naruto why don’t you as your dad to help you? I‘m sure he can help you with it.”
“Yea I guess he could, I just don’t like bothering him that much anymore, he’s been taking a lot of B rank missions recently, and he always looks exhausted. But still, I think I‘ll give it a shot.”
Kakashi entered his house, tired from the week long mission he had just completed. The house was well kept despite the two kids who stayed there. He heard the door bang and was suddenly in good spirits. Whenever he came home Naruto was always there to give him the comfort he needed. The boy always made dinner and took care of the chores while Kakashi rested in his room. Naruto was quickly becoming a great cook, however he still held a love for his ramen. Some things just never changed.
“Dad! You’re back.” Naruto yelled as he ran to hug the man.
“Hey Kakashi it’s nice to have you back with us.” Sasuke said. The jounin had held a special place in his heart and was always a pleasure to be with.
Kakashi messed the hairs of the two boys “It’s good to see you boys again too, I hope Naruto wasn’t too much trouble for you Sasuke.”
Naruto smiled “Nope. I was a good boy, just ask Sasuke.”
Sasuke nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah and Naruto didn’t take me into adult bookstores so he could practice his sexy jutsu…” Sasuke quickly covered his mouth. “opps.”
Kakashi laughed. He had been getting some calls from the local adult bookstore that he went to on occasion to buy his icha icha paradise books, it seems Naruto and Sasuke had been sneaking in and looking at some tasteless pictures. Kakashi wasn’t mad by any means he was actually a bit proud, but still it was his job to discipline his son for not following rules. Kakashi laughed as Naruto suddenly turned three shades of red as one of Kakashi's icha icha paradise fell from his orange vest.
“It’s ok Naruto I’m not upset, but don’t go in there again… if you plan on getting caught.” Naruto smirked and Sasuke gave a thumbs up and said
“You got it!”
Kakashi turned to his son and looked at him, then he said “So Naruto what seems to be the problem, I can tell you want to tell me about something but you’re a bit hesitant. You know I’m gonna find out sooner or later, so why not just tell me now.” “Ok dad, It’s this clone jutsu thing, I just can’t seem to pull the right amounts of chakra for it. If I don’t perform it correctly then I’m not sure if I’ll be able to pass the graduation exam.” Kakashi thought for a moment. “
Well Naruto there is one way. It requires an extremely large amount of chakra, but I believe you have enough to perform the jutsu.”
A knock came on their door and Kakashi went to answer it. “ Hey there Itachi, you’re back soon. I’m guessing the mission to the land of waves went rather quickly.” Itachi nodded and then said “I’m here to take Sasuke home for a bit, I haven’t spent time with him in along while.” Kakashi nodded and called for Sasuke to go home with his brother.
Later that evening after dinner Kakashi called Naruto to the living room. He began to explain how to perform the jutsu, which required slightly less complicated chakra integration, however it consumed a lot of energy. Naruto was exhausted after a couple of tries, but he kept pushing himself.
And then it happened, Naruto shouted “Shadow Clone Jutsu!!!” Out of nowhere five Narutos had popped out, but just as soon as they appeared they fell to the floor soundly asleep, before the jutsu lifted.
The original Naruto lay on the floor curled up in a ball. Kakashi smiled, amazed at how quickly he had mastered such an advance jutsu. ‘Must be his bloodline trait that sustains him with that much chakra’ Kakashi thought.
He carried his son to his mattress and laid him down, watching the boy breath soundly in his sleep, his chest rising and falling in even intervals. He kissed his sons forehead and went to his own bed.
Kakashi walked to his room, a sudden pain in his gut...'Something bad is about to happen' he thought and shuddered at the darkness that invaded his senses.
