The Truth Of Course Is This
(A:N) Can you believe I had a tow moth brain block on this story? Well if not I did. I couldn’t find anything for Lee and Gaara to do in Suna. Pointless sex sucks…IMO. I needed a good scene to lead up to it and I’m running low on brain energy from writing a total of VIII (8) stories now! VIII (8) can you believe that! I’m exhausted people but this story has to continue. I love my lovely Lee/Gaara stories…they make me want to have children with big eyebrows and unstable ways. Isn’t it so cool that they just happen to be my favorite Naruto characters? They have so many encounters in the Manga and Anime that I can’t keep them away from each other. They fit so perfectly!

Chapter VII
The Truth Of Course Is This
It was three long days later and Lee had promised Gaara he would stay in bed, so he had-at least while Gaara was home he had. Lee roamed the halls of the house doing what punches and kicks and jabs his body could handle. He did push-ups, sit-up, and crunches in his room while when he felt like running he would leave the house and run around its perimeter. He knew Gaara’s guards were watching him but he didn't think they would tell Gaara. After all, Lee had made friends with them when he had been here not too long ago. Maybe they would keep his secret now like they had back then.
This was the second day Lee decided to take a quick jog, the first day he had barely left his room but now he was certain Gaara wouldn’t be back until night and so he was going to take advantage of that. Lee exited the front door and made his way into the out layers of what could be looked at as a yard, though there was no grass except for in one area that was a small garden of some sort. Lee stared at it, it hadn't been there when he'd last been here. Shaking his head as he walked by it, he remembered his training.
He sat down on a rock near the entrance to the residence and looked ahead of him. Gaara had often let him run here when he was visiting and as a result it had turned into something resembling a track. Lee had run over it so many times that it had begun to look like a mote from the medieval times with no water. It ran along the wall of the gate and was a rather long trail. Lee looked on in sadness. It didn't seem like anyone had walked on it, let alone run on it in the past two years. He knew Gaara trained but what he did for training and what normal Shinobi did for training were two different things.
Lee stretched his legs and did a few hundred jumping-jacks to get warmed up. Yesterday he was unable to run a good distance before his body gave out and he laid in the sand for a while not moving. Today he was going to surpass that spot where he fell and increase the distance as much as he could, even if it meant falling ten feet ahead of that spot. He knelt down with his hands flat on the ground and positioned himself to take off.
'If I cannot do ten laps today then I will do thirty tomorrow.' Lee raised his head. 'San...Ni...Ichi...KOI!
(A:N this form of Koi is meant as 'Action' mostly used during fights)
Lee ran as fast as he could trying to start a pace. Instantly he felt a tear in his leg but he didn't stop. He stumbled but found himself putting his hand on the ground to catch his fall. He wasn't going to give up so easily.
'Come on, you can do this!' He picked up his speed and circled the house once. Upon reaching his second lap he felt better, this was going to be a good day. He ran around and around and around until he came to the lap where he had fallen the day before. He knew his body was hurting and he wanted to stop for just a second but he knew he had to finish. He ran harder and as he came to that certain spot he jumped over it, landed on the ground and began running again. He looked behind and smiled.
'There we go.' He looked ahead of him again. 'Now to finish!' He thought but began to feel that tear in his leg strengthen. He pushed past it. He only have two more laps to reach ten and he wasn't going to stop now. As he finished the lap he felt a thin stream of wind catch up to him. He relaxed in the wind as it swayed through his hair. He took two more steps and then fell flat on his face. His ankle was burning and when he rolled over to grab it he noticed the shackle of sand. He sat up and looked around.
'...Gaara.'
He tried to pull his leg free but he couldn't. He fell back on his back and stretched his arms. 'Great, he will surely kill me now.' He thought as a shadow overcame him and blocked the sun showing bright. He looked up and Gaara stood over him with his arms crossed and a typical blank look on his face. Lee quickly sat up and opened his mouth to speak but upon seeing the look on Gaara's face he kept quiet.
Gaara stared, hard. He did have a lot of things to say but he was waiting for Lee to give him an explanation, since he knew the Jounin had one. It was really beginning to bother him that Lee wasn't listening to anything he was saying, not that Lee had ever listened to him. Gaara looked at the sand around Lee's ankle and his eyes fell low as it let go. Lee watched as the sand found its way back the gourd on Gaara's back.
"Heh, just getting some training in. Why put off tomorrow what you can do today right?!" Lee had his eyes closed and he was playing with his hair in the back of his head. He opened his eyes when he heard Gaara walking away.
"Matte, Gaara..." Lee got up and started to run after him, but Gaara turned around so quickly it stunned Lee.
"Stop running." Gaara said and turned back around, heading for his house.
"But Gaara-" Lee protested, Gaara was holding him by the collar of his spandex suit before he knew it.
"What part of bed rest didn't you understand? This is the second time you have lied to me. You can't keep a promise no better than i can make a child smile." He threw Lee to the ground and closed his eyes. He took a deep breath and opened his eyes to look at Lee who was overcome by sadness.
"You are right Gaara-sama. Had I asked you if it was okay for me to train it would have not been a lie. It is not my intention to disobey your orders but please understand I cannot be locked to a room all day for the next two weeks. I was rotting and wasting valuable time in that bed. I needed to move my body. PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR BREAKING MY PROMISE!" Lee grabbed Gaara's ankles while kneeling in front of him. Gaara moved his eyes from left to right.
"A scorpion pricked me once for retaliation and a second time for defense, will I wait for the scorpion to prick me again? I know he will if I try to forget he's there."
Lee understood very well what Gaara was saying. He wanted Lee to know that he’d already forgiven him twice and a third time would not be something he wanted to do. He wasn’t interested in being lied to again. Lee let go of the Shinobi's ankles and sat back on his legs. He wanted to say something to explain or to let Gaara know he wouldn't do it again but there was no convincing the Kazekage when he was upset. Gaara turned his back to Lee and let his hands fall to his sides. This was going to be hard for him.
"You have one hour to dispose of that energy then I expect you to be in bed for the rest of the day. We'll talk about you training later on." Gaara disappeared and Lee saw the curtains in Gaara's library ruffle. Gaara was going to stay home the rest of the day to make sure Lee did exactly what he told him.
Lee stood up and stretched in the sun. 'I really should just go inside. I do not need another hour to train, but maybe I will do it to convince him that I am okay to train while my body heals.' Lee smiled and started slowly jogging around the water-less mote.
-----
Lee tossed and turned in his bed trying to stay cool. Even the heat at night still hadn't cooled down and he was laying under a thick cover in training sweats. He opened his eyes and threw his arm over his forehead, letting a long sigh escape him. Despite ending things on a good note with Gaara, Lee was still worried that the Kazekage hadn't yet forgiven him. Twice now had he forced himself on Gaara and the latter made it evident that he only wanted Lee to leave him alone for the rest of the time Lee had to be there.
Lee sat up and crossed his legs, he decided that he didn't really need sleep and that maybe he would go check on Gaara just for a quick second. He fell forward with his face in the sheets and pulled at his hair. If Gaara caught him that would probably be the end of his life, but still, he wanted to see him. He groaned and rolled over on his back kicking his feet and asking himself why he was about to mess up things again.
'This cannot be good Lee.'
He jumped up and headed out the door barely making a sound on his toes. He ran up the down the stairs since Gaara had forced him to stay on the third floor to insure that if he decided he wanted to sleep walk, he would have to find his way to the Kazekage's room. Lee rounded the stairs and fell upon Gaara's door. He took a deep breath and put his ear to the door. He jerked back in shock.
'He is not here?' Lee turned the knob and pushed the door open lightly. Sure enough Gaara was nowhere in the room. His bed was unmade and the curtains were blowing out the open window. His mouth hung open as he took the sight of the empty room into his mind. All he wanted was to see his precious love and now with him not there, Lee wanted to fall on the ground and whine all night. He went to step in the room when he heard a sound down from the first floor. He turned so quickly that he got dizzy.
'Gaara...' He zipped to the staircase and listened again. What he heard was a conversation, a one sided conversation. He stepped down the stairs and the voice got louder and sounded just a little more angry than he'd first assumed.
"You're disturbing me and I've had quite enough!"
Lee swallowed and poked a little of his head in the room where Gaara's desk was located. He peered as best he could and saw the Sand Ninja with his head down in his hands. Lee looked around and there was no one else in the room. He blinked and listened more.
"Be quiet, he has nothing to do with me not sleeping. It’s you who is keeping my up." Gaara raised his head and Lee thought he was caught but Gaara looked out the window and shook his head.
"I will not have him control me, just like I won't have you control me." Gaara stood and walked over to the book self and pulled a book out. He opened it and let the pages fly passed his face before he slammed it shut and tossed it at the wall across from him.
"I thought we agreed that you would stay in bed."
Lee stood up straight and hoped Gaara really wasn't talking to him. He stood perfectly still and the footsteps made their way over to the room's door. Lee closed his eyes tight and he felt a rush of wind blow passed him. He opened one eye but no one stood in front of him. He looked around and no one was near him so he peaked back into the room and saw Gaara back at his desk.
"I'm speaking to you, Lee."
The Jounin knew he was caught so he stepped in the room with a little smile on his face. "Uh...Hi Gaara." He didn't know what else to say, and it didn't help that Gaara was staring at him like he'd just done something horribly wrong. Lee moved forward with his head down.
“I just wanted to check on you. See how you were doing, that is all?” Lee smiled and scratched the back of his head. Gaara just stared at him. There was a voice in his head telling him to snap Lee in half and then there was another part of him wanting to hold the Jounin. He couldn’t figure out what to do so he just sat there. Lee hated it when Gaara didn’t respond but he just sighed and sat in the chair opposite Gaara.
“We need to talk about what happened in the desert.” Gaara said trying to ignore the voice screaming for him to stab Lee with a pen. Lee stared and stared to blush. He could only remember bits and pieces from what happened. All he could really remember was-
“It was totally an accident. I thought you were dying. I mean it was nothing, I mean it was something but it was not a lot and I totally did not know that I was going to and I-
“Lee…what are you talking about?” Gaara for once looked like he didn’t know what was going on. Lee opened his eyes bigger and smiled.
“What were you talking about?” The Jounin started laughing as he tried to hide the pink rising higher in his cheeks. ‘He must have been referring to something other than the kiss. Oh man, I almost got caught. I sure hope he does not remember that part of our trip.’ He sat back in his chair and stopped laughing when Gaara closed his eyes.
“I’m talking about Shukaku.” Gaara took a deep breath stood to look out the window. He pulled the curtains open and leaned his head against the glass. Lee stood up as well but didn’t move from his side of the room. Now he remembered, Shukaku had gotten the best of the both of them and now Gaara was trapped in his web again. Lee rubbed the back of his head, what did this mean?
“Is that who you were talking to when I can down here?” Lee waited for Gaara to turn around before he pushed farther. The younger didn’t like sharing things, which was evident. Lee took a few steps to the other side of the desk. Gaara turned his eyes to Lee and the other took a step back. Gaara had said he didn’t want Lee near him hadn’t he?
“I wasn’t talking to him, drop it.” Gaara turned his eyes back to the window. “Since you refuse to return to Konoha we have to set some ground rules for you staying here until it’s time for you to return…and you will return.” Gaara exhaled and turned his full body to Lee. The Leaf had his head very low and had his fists balled.
“I hate that you do not trust me. Did I not explain myself thoroughly enough for you?” Lee looked up with a determined look etched on his face. “My place is here.” Lee was next to Gaara before he could even blink. The beast fingered through Gaara’s hair and the Sabaku gasped faintly at how sudden he’d been surprised.
“Why do you still push me away?” Lee leaned down to Gaara’s ear and whispered, “I do not like to see you so alone.” Lee got close and with his free hand touched the side of Gaara’s face. Lee was staring down at him. He towered over the Kazekage and placed his chin on top of Gaara’s head. The redhead was forced to smell Lee’s freshly cleaned body. He’d taken a shower a while before, Gaara was sure of that.
Snapping out of his thoughts Gaara pushed Lee back. “I am more alone than you could know. You’re not going to feel the void. You’re here on a mission and that’s all. We’re not making up Lee. That was a long time ago. I can no longer say that I’m…” For once Gaara didn’t want to finish his sentence. Was he really going to reveal what his head wanted and not his heart?
“Not in love with me anymore?” Lee finished it for him. “I see Gaara-sama.”
“I’ve asked you not to call me that.” Gaara disregarded the part about not loving him. He didn’t know the answer anyway. He wondered if he was doing the right thing. This was only for Lee’s sake. They couldn’t get involved again. He was end up killing Lee, he just knew it. Then what would he do? He would be without Lee by his hand or not at all.
“We are no longer lovers. It is proper respect for me to address you as the Kazekage.” Lee bowed. “I guess I will be going then.” He turned to leave. All his hopes of getting back with Gaara were shot down. He felt horrible for even trying. It had been a pain to get Gaara to notice him the first time they'd fallen for each other. Now was no different than then.
“Stay.” Gaara said as Lee began to walk. “I’m not finished talking to you. If you have to be walking around the house out of bed then I might as well keep an eye on you. So sit.” Gaara commanded. No sooner had the words left his mouth Lee was sitting in the chair with a smile on his face. Apparently he wasn’t too offended. Lee was just going to take this as a chance to get closer to Gaara instead of sulking in his room.
“We need to talk about the Shukaku situation. I am going to give you very strict rules to follow regarding me. You will proceed to go about them with caution. Are we understood?” Gaara folded his arms as he sat across from Lee.
“Hai! Gaara-kun.” Lee nodded and then stopped moving for a second. “I mean Gaara-sama.” Lee chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. Gaara just stared at him like he wanted to roll his eyes but he remained still. Lee finished his laughing and got serious.
“Do these rules include me not touching you?” Lee bravely asked. He wanted to be honest and there was no way to do that if he kept sneaking his way around Gaara. However, he was embarrassed by his remark and pretended to cough while he pushed back his blush. Gaara stared at him for a long while and when Lee was sitting upright again Gaara blinked several times.
“It is for your own safety that you stay at least three feet away from me at all times. There are things inside me that aren’t very fond of you. It’s best that you keep your distance, lest you be hospitalized by my sand yet again.” Gaara watched as Lee gulped and rubbed his right arm. Lee had stopped laughing and his face was firm. His memory had never let him forget the pain inflected on him from the injuries or the pain inflected on his heart from nearly losing his Ninja way.
“What are we going to do about this Gaara-sama? This Demon is a threat to the both of us, to both of villages and the rest of the Shinobi countries. I cannot sit back and watch it destroy you!” Lee stood up and slammed his palms down on the desk. “I will die before I let that happen!” He breathed hard as he stared deep into Gaara’s eyes. The Kazekage fell victim to them and stared right back.
‘He must love me.’ Gaara thought
‘He must love me.’ Lee thought.
Gaara tore his eyes away from Lee and stood from his chair again. He turned his back to Lee and headed for the safety of his window. Lee sighed, he wasn’t getting through to Gaara at all. This time it hadn’t even been about their love or their relationship. This was life or death. Lee needed Gaara to know that before something happened he would literally sacrifice himself to save the one he loved.
“Your ability to blindly run into danger amazes me, still. After so many years you are still unafraid to seek what you don’t know. You’re a fool. It will be the death of you one day…Rock Lee.”
“Do not dare speak to me that way. By blindly running into battle I have saved countless lives. One belongs to a certain Kazekage. I cannot fear what I do not know because do not know how to. I have worked hard to become the Ninja I am and I will not let you wish death upon me because you cannot be strong yourself.” Lee gasped for air since he had barely taken a breath through all the talking. Gaara didn’t turn around and this angered Lee. Forgetting the three-foot rule of space Lee jumped over the desk and pushed Gaara against the glass of the window, gripping the younger’s hair. Gaara didn’t move for a second. He was trying to still his sand that was hurriedly slipping down the stairs from his room.
“Who are you?” Gaara asked. He could hear Lee hissing behind him. No, this wasn’t Lee. This was some Demon he’d run into back in Konoha, the one that had taken his peace. When Lee let up a bit Gaara moved and pushed him away, using what sand that had entered the room to trap Lee’s writhing body up against a wall. Lee stopping trying to break free when Gaara slowly made his way over to him.
He looked up into Lee’s eyes and saw nothing but white. His pupils had disappeared and his eyeballs themselves had grown enormously-well at least even bigger than his usual eyes-
Gaara watched in near horror, as Lee’s hollow eyes seemed to be searching him. It was safe to say that Gaara was a little shocked at what hung in front of him. He’d been around Lee for about two weeks now, why hadn’t he picked up on this…thing?
Seeming to know he couldn’t get free, Lee relaxed and his breathing dropped back to normal. He closed his eyes-probably unintentionally-and gravity played with his head. When he finally lifted his face to Gaara his eyes still remained closed. Gaara took a step forward, ever so cautiously. Lee appeared to be sleeping except for the way his head kept looking around even though his eyes were closed.
“What are you?”
As if a threat had been cast upon him Lee opened his eyes like firecrackers and clouded white eyes screamed at Gaara. The redhead took a step back and almost shook at the terror the Demon brought.
‘He’s possessed.’ It was more of a question and an answer all at once. Gaara narrowed his eyes at Lee and Lee narrowed his eyes right back. Lee hadn’t spoken since he’d jumped over the desk and Gaara wondered if this side of Lee was mute. Gaara was his usual unmoving self and concentrated on keeping his chakra unnoticed. Once he stopped moving Lee closed his eyes and started looking around again.
‘He can sense me but not see me.’ Gaara shifted his eyes to the left and Lee opened his eyes full force, staring at Gaara again. He’d been right, Lee could only sense him when he moved. Gaara took a step forward and Lee hissed at him again. He grew no fangs and showed no other signs of change except in his eyes. If he could barely see then could he even talk?
“Are you going to answer me?” Gaara questioned. Yet again he was granted no answer from the thing on the wall. Lee licked his lips and let his tongue hang out of his mouth. He looked like he was having difficulty breathing now. Gaara stood still and thought for a second. How long could this Demon remain out in the open before is had to retreat back into darkness? He looked back up at Lee. He was wheezing but his eyes were still fastened to Gaara.
“I will let you down when you answer me. Otherwise you can stay where you are and die.”
This seemed to get Lee’s attention. He titled his head back and bit his lip. Blood rolled down his chin and neck, staining the collar of his spandex suit.
“Mines…” Lee hacked out, sounding like a full grown female witch and a dying tiger all mixed into one. Gaara watched the blood soak Lee’s collar. What was it the thing was trying to say.
“Chi?” Gaara said allowed.
“Hunting.” Lee answered in his venomous voice. Gaara frowned. What since did that make? What did the Demon want with Lee’s blood?
“Chikari?” Gaara eyed the thing as it eyed him with empty eyes. Gaara wanted to kill it but he had to figure out what it was and what it wanted. Did it work like the Bijuu? If Gaara were to kill it right then and there then would Lee die as well? All this was going through his head as he watched helplessly as Lee started searching the room again.
“Mines...” Lee hissed again until he locked eyes with Gaara. The Kazekage didn’t know what to do. He didn’t have time to call anyone to help him figure this out. Lee coughed and sucked in air painfully…then-
“Gaara-sama.”
Gaara hadn’t been looking but now he was. Now he was staring directly at the Lee he knew. Gaara didn’t move for fear that it was a trap. Lee’s black pupils fell into focus and he blinked repeatedly. Gaara marveled at how he could actually feel Lee’s chakra moving to block the Demon’s presence. This was his Lee. That was one thing he was sure of.
“Gaara-sama, let me down from here. This is not a very…nice…thing…to do.” Lee was trying to wiggle out of the sand but it held tighter the more he moved. Gaara knew he couldn’t trust what he was seeing. He would have to figure out which Lee was up on the wall himself.
“I thought I told you to stop calling me that.” Gaara folded his arms and Lee froze. He thought for a quick second and then smiled.
“Have we not gone through this once already tonight? It is my way of respecting you, since we are not lovers anymore. Unless you are trying to get me to love you again, then I will reframe from embarrassing you with the title.” Lee laughed and for once Gaara was glad to hear him acting so silly. However, if he let Lee down how could he be certain Chikari wouldn’t come back? He couldn’t. He thought back to when Chikari had emerged.
‘Lee had gotten very mad before that. Maybe I caused it when I upset him. No matter, if Chikari tries to appear again I will lock him to the wall and watch him until dawn if I have to.’
“Come on! This is not funny anymore Gaara-sama. I cannot breathe behind your sand. Let me down! Let me down!” Lee fussed as Gaara reworked the situation in his head. Gaara decided he needed to understand this better so he let Lee go.
Lee fell to the floor and tried to stand on his shaking legs. “Why was I up there anyway?” He looked back at the wall and coughed then he pulled the collar of his suit. Blood drenched it and Lee’s pupils began to fade in and out.
“Lee.” Gaara called and Lee looked up at him smiling. ‘He doesn’t remember anything. Just like that night back in Konoha. Just like those days in the desert. That Demon is eating away his ability to remember things.’
“Uh. Gaara-sama hellllllllooooo!” Lee waved his hands in front of Gaara’s face. “You okay there?” Lee frowned when Gaara closed his eyes and turned his head.
“Back to bed Lee. It’s been a long night and I need some rest.” Gaara walked over to his desk and sat down. Lee didn’t seem to care much for being kicked out since he was still trying to figure out the wound on his lip and the blood on him. He trotted off to the door of the hall and looked back at Gaara. The Kazekage had his head down. Lee smiled but it fell to a grin and he bared his teeth. His eyes faded back to their cloudy form and he disappeared up the stairs hissing to himself…”Mines”
------
(A:N) Alright…don’t ask me what the hell that was. It’s like 4 in the morning and I’m very delusional. I sorta remember seeing a Demon similar to the one I described in a dream a few years back. Damn thing still haunts me and I can’t look at Hyuugas without freaking out sometimes.
When I started writing this fic I didn’t even think of Lee having a Demon and terrorizing Gaara. It happened about 15 minutes ago when I started writing this. I need a new twist since there’s nothing going on. I wanted to blame everything on the alcohol but hey…this is Narutoverse and I can do whatever the hell I want. Well not really…but I have to keep things interesting and since this is a chapter after two months of no progress I had to come back with a huge bang.
So was that Bang enough for you? I’m sorry if I scared anybody. I’m actually writing with all the lights on, the television on white noise screen and the door locked. Swear to God you guys I’m fucking scared and I wrote the shit. Good thing I’m listening to a GREAT band. Seriously…I’ve been listening to Chevelle since I started writing this chapter. No they’re not gothic devils…hahahahahahaha…but they’re awesome….why do you care? Good point….hahahah
Review this please! I like have none for this story and I thought(still think) Its like…is totally kicking my other stories asses.
