Chapter 7:
Shopping
After a few moments of talking to one another Nigeru Taku and Uzumaki Naruto could be seen as two smiling dolts. Naruto had at last found someone else who loved ramen almost as much as he did. The two of them sat in the middle of the classroom talking about their favorite flavors and what they liked to add in on occasion. Two pairs of sparkling blue eyes stared at one another in fascination as they continued their ramen conversation.
-Naruto, how old is Zaliya?-
Naruto looked around, stopping himself mid sentence. “Did you hear that?”
Taku just shook his head and looked at him in confusion. “What did you hear, Naruto?”
“Well, I could’a sworn I just heard Ino…. INO!!!” He started to reach his hand up to his ear and stopped. “Ummm. . . . it was nice meeting ya, Taku-sensei, but I gotsa to get goin now. I gots stuff to do today.” He smiled at his new friend once more before taking off down the hall.
-Naruto!!-
-I heard ya!! I heard ya!! I don’t know how old she is. I could guess though I mean what does it really matter?-
-Naruto you dolt. I need to know so I can get the right size diapers.-
-OH!!! Umm the hag told me to get the ones for 10 pounds and under. Ya know the purple ones.- Naruto smiled to himself for actually remembering, and began walking into the market district of Konoha.
-Oh ok then. Thanks Naruto.-
-No problem Ino!!- He kept walking until he saw Ino through the window of a grocery store. As Ino smiled and looked adoringly at the baby she had cradled in her arms Naruto couldn’t help but think about what a good mother she’d make one day. She looked up and caught his eyes for a moment and smiled gesturing for him to come inside and join her. He smiled at her and nodded before dashing his way into the store with her.
Coming up behind the other blonde he called out her name and waved dramatically.
“Ino, how’s everything going? Did you find everything ok?” Her response was nothing more than a laugh and a gesture for him to help her out. Raising an arm up, he scratched the back of his head and smiled sheepishly. Ino handed him the precious bundle in her arms and watched as his eyes immediately brightened with affection towards the little one.
“I need you to hold her while I pick out some healthy food for you. Now how much food do you have at home?” With one glance she knew immediately that he didn’t have much food at all, much less healthy food. ‘He’s not as bad as I thought. He’s very caring’ she laughed once more. “I take it you need a lot of help.” He smiled at her slightly and looked around like he knew nothing of what he could get.
“Ino I don’t have much money and after getting a crib and stuff I don’t think I can really afford much food.” He showed the blonde girl his frog money pouch and looked at her reaction cautiously.
“Don’t worry about it Naruto. It’s my treat.” He opened his mouth to say something else but she quickly interrupted him. “Don’t even try to stop me or tell me otherwise. I haven’t been home in ten months so I deserve to do what I want for a while, and I want to buy things for you and Zaliya.” She glared at him slightly daring him to object. He slumped his shoulders in defeat and followed her around the store as she grabbed random foods from the shelves and watched as she spent more and more money on his groceries.

“Sasuke-kun!!” A girl with short pink hair ran up to a pale boy about her age. The boy turned his gaze towards her momentarily and scowled slightly.
“What is it Sakura?” The question itself sounded more like a statement coming from his mouth. The soft “baritone of his voice accented the words slightly. Sakura flinched slightly from the cold tone but shook it off and tried again.
“Sasuke-kun, are you gonna go to my birthday party this weekend?” She batted her eyelashes at him and giggled lightly. “I hope you do. I’m sure it’ll be fun-“
“No.”
“But Sasuke-kun!! Please?! Naruto-baka isn’t gonna be there-“
“I said no. I’d rather stay with Naruto for a month then listen to your endless prattle.” With that said he continued walking down the street into the market. He stopped just short of bumping into a girl with short navy hair. She stood like a statue with wide opal eyes just watching the occupants in a single store. Turning his dark gaze in the same direction he saw them. ‘Naruto and Ino? When did she get back?’ As the couple turned around he could plainly see a baby being carried by the overly cautious and smiling blonde boy. ‘What the fuck!! A baby! It can’t be Naruto’s. He would’ve told me. Wouldn’t he?’ He continued watching until he saw their sensei, Kakashi, speak to Naruto and both him and Naruto disappeared in a puff of smoke after Ino was handed the child. Sasuke then turned around and started walking towards his. In his peripheral vision he could see the girl shake her head and turn away with slight tears in her eyes.

With tears in her eyes Sakura walked towards the fountain nearby and sat on the bench next to her admirer’s teammate TenTen.
“I hate him. I can’t stand Naruto. He’s always taking what I want away from me.” TenTen looked at her in understanding and nodded once. “Sasuke never seems to give me the time of day. Meanwhile, he and Naruto are always off training or something like that.”
“I know what you mean, Sakura. It’s the same with Neji. He’s always so quiet but when Naruto’s around he just smiles and is actually part of the conversation.”
“I think that our teams would be better off if Naruto wasn’t here. He just gets in the way and we already know that practically none of the adults really care about what happens to him. We should get rid of Naruto. Then we’d all be better off.” Sakura sneered the last sentence and laughed haughtily.

Ino smiled as she left the store with her father and a few others carrying the bags. “Daddy, can you please take all of this stuff to Naruto’s right away? I’ll be there in just a minute.”
“No problem honey. Just be quick.” He laughed and the adults took off in a flash.
“C’mon Zaliya, I wanna show you something real quick. It’s real close so you’ll be home in no time.” In response Zaliya gurgled a little and stared down the road. Ino adjusted the bundle in her arms for a second and took off walking towards the sound of running water.
“None of the adults really care about what happens to him. We should get rid of Naruto. Then we’d all be better off.” Ino’s eyes widened only to narrow dangerously. ‘I know that voice. It’s Sakura.’ She looked over by the fountain and saw the bubblegum haired girl sitting next to another girl with her brunette hair pulled tightly into two buns. Without thinking the blonde girl ran over to both sitting girls and slapped Sakura as hard as she could.
“Naruto might not be that smart and yeah he can be annoying but he is a very kindhearted boy and father of little Zaliya here!! You need to get off your high horse and realize what a great guy he can be!!” With that Ino stalked off heading towards Naruto’s small apartment. As her anger faded away she slowed down and realized what she said to one of her ‘best friends’. “Oh hell. This isn’t gonna go over well.” She sighed and trudged up the stairs to Naruto’s apartment.

Sakura and TenTen stared shocked in the direction Ino disappeared.
“Umm…. Was that Ino?” the brunette inquired still not moving.
“Yeah…was that a baby in her arms?” Sakura sat still holding her sore cheek. “Wait she said that Naruto’s a….”
“FATHER!?!?!” Both girls’ eyes went wide and they stared at one another in shock.
