Again apologies for being so slow to update, I went back to work and it was hectic to say the least’ And last week on my way home from a convention I got hit and knocked down by a tram, thank the gods I missed those wheels. So I hot a bit bruised and battered and felt rather sick after it, but I thankfully survived. Now I have a Gamakichi plushy, so he joins my two Kakashi’s, Naruto, Sasuke and Shikamaru along with Wiley Coyote and Yami in my bed now. They are on the empty side of my bed! Though the real Kakashi or his English or Japanese voice actors could have that place anytime…. ; ) Anyway this is an angsty chapter, no action sorry, hope you enjoy

The Turning Away continued
By Fyrbyrd

It was like the prison all over again, only this time he was actually moving. The Nin drove the wagon to a set destination. He had been sending birds somewhere for days, and had finally gotten a reply. Now he was heading for a meeting. He stopped in a clearing and forced Kakashi from the wagon and further into the forest. At an assigned place he stopped and made Kakashi lay down before draining him again. Kakashi was never able to fight him, he seemed to know when Kakashi’s level was on the rise again and made sure to keep it under his control. And he really wanted him under control for this meeting. Once he was, he covered him with a blanket and sat to wait.

Not long after he rose to his feet as the pair jumped from the trees and stood before him.

“I take it you are the Akatsuki?”

“Who wants to know?” said the taller of the pair.

“Just someone who might have something of interest to you.”

“Really now. And what would that be?” said the other in a quiet voice.

“This person here is a survivor of Orochimaru’s prison, as am I.”

“Why would prisoners of Orochimaru be of any interest to us?”

“Oh this one would be, especially with what he carries.”

The smaller one turned to the other, “Let us be on our way, there is nothing here for us.”

“No wait,” cried the man, but he had no chance to say anything else. The pair had vanished in a hurry, and a few moments later he understood why.

Five Leaf ANBU surrounded him.

“They are out of range sir,” said another dropping a few seconds later.

The one he spoke to turned to the rogue Nin, “What business did you have with them?”

“None. My companion and I were just resting when they happened upon us,” he answered.

“The Akatsuki don’t just happen upon anyone without a reason. What village do you come from?”

“I escaped from Orochimaru a couple of months back.”

“That would be when we raided the place. Now answer my question, where do you come from.”

“I have no home, I cannot return there after what was done to me.”

“And what would that be?”

“I’d rather not say.”

“And your companion?”

“He does not wish to return home either.”

“Perhaps we should ask him for ourselves.”

“No,” he jumped to get in the way, but was not allowed when the others got between him and Kakashi.

One of them knelt down next to Kakashi. “Beware, he can drain chakra,” he heard the whisper.

He signalled to the others and they soon had the man bound in wires so he could not touch them. The leader approached him. “What did you have to do with the Akatsuki?”

He was unable to free his arms so that he could extend the tentacles, and there was no way he was going to answer them.

By then the other had helped the still covered Kakashi to sit, “He was trying to sell me to them.”

The ANBU tensed.

“Who are you?”

“I am Leaf, but I would rather give my report to Lady Tsunade in person.”

“And how can you prove to us that what you are saying is the truth?”

“I have a tattoo on my arm that you would recognise.”

All the ANBU straightened.

“Can you walk?”

“No. I have been much weakened and he has been draining me for weeks. There is a wagon back there, you can help me to it and we can go home.”

The ANBU leader nodded and once they had the rogue Nin completely bound, they helped him to the wagon. None questioned his wanting to stay hidden from them.

It took nearly a week to get to the village with the wagon, they wanted to go faster but Kakashi knew that he could not hurry in his condition. They were very curious about him, about why he kept himself covered so completely. He knew they were, but he kept to himself and did what he could for himself. The rogue had been hurried to the village; he was too dangerous to take on the slower route.

Finally they reached the gates of the village and were ushered inside. They were told to take Kakashi to the hospital to be checked over, which they did. However, he would not allow himself to be examined by anyone but the Hokage herself.

She arrived and waved everyone else away as he came in. The door was closed and she stood there with her hands on her hips, “So who are you that make demands of me?”

“Good to see you too Lady Tsunade,” he said quietly.

She gasped and moved forward, pulling the hood of his makeshift cloak off his head, his silver hair rising up immediately. “Kakashi… We looked for you at Orochimaru’s lair…”

“I know, but I did not want to return here at the time.”

“Yet you are here now.” He could hear the question in the sentence.

“You know about what Kabuto did to me?”

“You can have children.”

“I was able to send the boy here, did he make it?”

“Masashi lives with his father, he is a fine boy.”

“Masashi… I am glad. Kabuto forced me to have a daughter with him; I do not know what happened to them… And,” he pulled the cloak from his body to reveal the mound of his belly, “I am carrying two more right now.”

“Twins! No wonder I could not read your chakra.” She saw the marks on Kakashi’s thin bare arms, “That was from the rogue that had you?”

“Yes, he was draining my chakra.”

“Let me examine you. I can already see that you are undernourished, I hope it has not affected the babies.”

“They too have been feeding off me.”

“Who is the father?”

Kakashi lowered his head and did not answer.

“Lay down then, let me see how you all are.”

He did as he was told and allowed her to examine and run some tests on him. When she was finished he turned to her. “I do not want it to be known that I am here.”

“But the rogue knew who you were, he will tell.”

“Until then I wish to remain anonymous. I wish to move to my family’s estate, no one will think to look for me there.”

“You will need care; you can hardly get around now.”

“I will allow a medic, but they must be sworn to secrecy.”

“Why?”

“I…I am used to be alone. I want to get my strength back, and I want to know if you can reverse this.”

“Kabuto’s jutsu?”

“Yes.”

“I warn you now, I may not be able to undo his jutsu and there is no way I would try it until the babies are born, as it is it will not be long before you give birth.”

“How am I to survive with this? I am driven to seek a mating; even if I get pregnant the need does not leave for some time after. I can’t live like this, I was not meant to be a… mother.”

“What of the twins? Are you going to abandon them?”

Again Kakashi lowered his head. He was not planning on keeping them. What would he do with two tiny babies? Especially when they were heirs to a kekkai genki. “They will need a special home.”

Tsunade cocked here head, trying to figure out what Kakashi might mean, but she could see that she was not going to get any more from him.

After the test results came back she sent for a medic who she knew she could trust. Kakashi needed to be kept in bed from now on; otherwise they might lose not only the babies, but him as well. The years of imprisonment and abuse had taken there toll on him. Having his chakra taken off him by three had done even more damage; he would be at barely Genin level, if that. So he was to be moved to his estate as he had asked and the medic would attend to him, with frequent visits from Tsunade.

Everyone was curious to know who he was, Shizune was often quizzed on it, but even she did not know. Ibiki leaned from the captured rogue, but on reporting to Tsunade he kept his silence. He had worked on suppressing the rogue’s memories so that Kakashi’s condition would not become common knowledge, he only remembered being in the company of a Leaf Ninja. And of course that little bit of information did leak out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

“Iruka Umino is here to see you Lady Tsunade,” reported Shizune.

“Let him in.” She kept on with her work as he entered.

“Is it true? Has Kakashi returned to the village?”

“And where did you hear that?”

“There are rumours around the village that he is the one the ANBU brought in with the rogue a few weeks ago.”

“Really?”

Iruka sighed; he knew he was not going to get anywhere this way. “I only want to know for Masashi’s sake.”

“I’m sorry Iruka; I cannot answer your questions. Let’s leave it at that, huh?”

His shoulders slumped. At least she had not denied that he was there. He nodded, but he had other thoughts in his mind.

--------------------------------------------------------------

No one ventured to this part of the village much. It was like the Uchiha compound, a place to be avoided. But he was not going to let that stop him. He had looked at other places; this was the only obvious place he could think of if someone wanted to hide in a familiar place.

The place was dark and quiet; he looked for any wards, slipping past them and into the main building. It was too clean to be as abandoned as it was supposed to be. He made his way further in until he felt a presence.

“Reveal yourself or I will be forced to attack,” came a feminine voice.

“Iruka Umino.”

“Why are you here Academy teacher? Didn’t you know trespassing is illegal?”

“Are the security guard? I was pretty sure that this place had no security assigned to it for some time.”

“Why are you here?”

“I have come to see the owner of this place.”

“Owner?”

“Kakashi Hatake.”

She did not know how to answer him.

“It’s okay Maki, let him come in,” came the quiet voice from nearby.

Iruka started when he heard the voice, but was glad that he was being allowed to enter. The medic revealed herself and put away the kunai she was holding. She nodded to Iruka to follow her, and they moved to a door which she slid open.

“You can leave us Maki, it will be all right.”

“But sir, you shouldn’t stress yourself.”

“I’ll be fine. Go and rest, I will speak with Iruka. He will keep silent about this,” his uncovered eye seemed to glow with anger.

She nodded and closed the door behind her.

“She seems nice,” said Iruka.

“She is caring for me. Now what brings you here?” It was not a friendly tone.

“Masashi… Is he… your’s?”

“What did Akira tell you?”

“That his mother was the last person I had slept with. Masashi is my son and you were the past person I slept with.”

“Akira?”

“Was killed after getting the boy here. So is it true, you gave birth to Masashi?”

“Yes. Kabuto did this to me. I have a womb; one of my testicles became an ovary. All of my wanting you was tied in with the jutsu. Nice piece of revenge for Kabuto.”

Iruka had sighed when Kakashi had admitted to being Masashi’s…mother.

“Does anyone beside Tsunade know about Masashi?” continued Kakashi.

“No. I have never told anyone about us, though they are all curious to know who I got together with. I told them it was with a woman I donated sperm to, whose village was taken over by Sound, but they managed to get the child out. So far they have chosen to believe that.”

Kakashi relaxed at that, “I never asked for this to happen. I didn’t know I would have a child.”

“I know, and I understand why you don’t want any of this knowledge out in the open. But why haven’t you asked about the boy since you returned?”

“I was a prisoner of Kabuto for so long. I’ve had another child since then, Kabuto forced it on me, though I could not help but participate. And since then…”

It was only then that Iruka’s eyes could make out that Kakashi’s belly was large and it was not from the blankets.

“You’re pregnant again! That’s why you are here with Maki, she’s a medic!”

“So now you know. You, Maki, Tsunade and Ibiki. I trust you will not let anyone else know about this, you have Masashi to care for.”

“Do you think I have so little respect for you that I would do anything to harm the mother of my child? I enjoyed making Masashi with you. I never thought I would ever have a child of my own; he is the center of my life and always will be. How could you believe I would endanger you? I just wanted to know why you hadn’t come to see your son, or is it that you don’t care for him?”

“I don’t know how I feel for him, I never saw him. I never saw my daughter to Kabuto…” he stopped his hands reaching for his distended belly.

“Dammit Kakashi,” Iruka approached and saw that he was huge, “Should I go and get Maki?”

“No. It will pass. If I get stressed they react to it.”

“They? Twins?”

Kakashi lay his head back on the pillow. “You’re better than Ibiki you know that.”

Iruka was right beside the bed looking down at a helpless Kakashi. He knelt down. “Listen to me. I swear I won’t let on about you’re being here, you know you can trust me.” He looked at the mound, “Did Kabuto…?”

“No. But don’t ask okay? I didn’t will it; I was made to conceive to him. And after they are born… I only want this ability gone. It serves no purpose, but Tsunade says that only Kabuto can reverse it.”

“So you want to go after Kabuto?”

“I want this over with. I cannot go on going into…heat until I conceive.”

“And what of the twins?”

“They will need to be protected. They will be safe here.”

“Without you? And protected from whom?”

“Just go now will you Iruka. I need to rest.”

Iruka stood. “You can’t keep turning away from your children like this, Kakashi. One day you will have to face up to the fact that they are yours.”

“Oh, and what about me? I live like a nympho, wanting to be fucked till I get another bun in the oven, then have the cycle continue on forever.”

“Does settling down scare you that much?”

“Get out now,” there was venom in Kakashi’s voice now.

Iruka nodded and turned away, “I guess it does.”

Maki was waiting at the door when he came out. “You didn’t stress him did you?”

“A little, but he’ll settle down, the babies will be fine.”

“It didn’t surprise you, about the babies I mean?”

“My son… He is the mother of my son.”

Maki’s mouth fell open as she watched Iruka move away. It was one more secret she would be forced to keep.
