Your Choices, My Pain Ch. 7

The next morning Sasuke woke up with his alarm and turned it off quickly so it wouldn't wake his best friend. He slipped out of bed quietly and headed to the bathroom to take a shower and get ready for his day of work.



After making a small breakfast for himself and writing a note to Naruto which he left on the bed next to the blonde, the raven quietly headed out of the apartment and made sure to lock the door before heading off to his restaurant, hoping that Naruto would be ok until he came to check on him.

 

The ringing alarm did nothing to wake Naruto up when the morning broke, he snored right through it as he lay sprawled out on the bed in his usual sleeping pattern. Even when Sasuke's warm body left the bed as he got up to do his usual morning routine, Naruto continued to sleep though. He curled up somewhat in the spot where Sasuke had been laying to soak up the residual body heat that remained there.

 

It wasn't until a little while after Sasuke left that he finally woke up and blinked his blue eyes open to find the empty bed. He yawned noisily and stretched before he sat up to drag himself out of bed. He headed to the bathroom to empty his bladder before deciding he should make himself something to eat. So he headed to the kitchen and began to look around for something fast to make. Sasuke's kitchen was pretty well stocked so he had lots to choose from but opted to make himself some ramen.

 

As he cooked he pondered about what he was going to do for the day....perhaps he could straighten up the place a bit and clean for Sasuke; though the raven was a fairly clean person so he wasn't sure if he'd keep himself busy that way or not.

 

Sasuke spent the morning a bit distracted as he contemplated about Naruto and what he was going to do about the present situation. There was no way he was going to let Sai reclaim his friend and he had already come to the decision that he would not use his shinobi skills but if he had to fight, then he would; that was how important the blonde was to him.



He filled his last lunch order, a large business lunch to go, before shutting down for an hour to head home for his break. He wondered how Naruto was doing and hoped the man wasn't too bored.

 

Through the morning Naruto had managed to find at least a little cleaning to do though now the raven's place looked spotless and by the time lunch rolled around he hadn't much to really do but sit and watch TV. until Sasuke came home. He knew the raven wouldn't be home for long...just a little while after lunch before he had to return so he was at a loss as to what to do for the rest of the day.

 

He never had been one for sitting and doing nothing really. At Sai's place he usually found things to do whether it be cleaning or going to the market to pick up groceries, or cooking for Sai. So he was rather bored just sitting around. He contemplated whether he should go outside for a while and just wander about...but if he did that he'd likely end up running into Sai if he was looking for him and at the moment he wasn't too keen on seeing him.

 

Sasuke unlocked the door, having finally arrived at his apartment and was greeted with the sight of an even more spotless house and Naruto watching TV. He smiled and shook his head as he headed further into the room.

 

"You didn't have to clean..." He handed Naruto some bags. "I brought lunch for us... if you didn't eat yet that is."

 

Naruto smiled widely once Sasuke returned, getting up off the couch to greet him. He shook his head a bit and rolled his eyes,

 

"Yea...and I would probably have been bored to death if I didn't..." He chuckled a bit before he stretched.

 

“I ate breakfast earlier but I can go for some lunch now..." He took the bags from Sasuke and carried them to the kitchen to unpack them and set the table.

 

Sasuke followed the blonde into the kitchen and pulled down some plates.

 

"How are you feeling today?" he asked as he helped Naruto dish out the lunch which consisted of teriyaki chicken and rice.

 

"I felt kind of bad for leaving you this morning." Sasuke tensed, that sounded wrong even to his own ears.

 

"I feel alright today...with Kyuubi's healing abilities I'm sure I'm pretty much one hundred percent..." he said as he took out their food with Sasuke's help and once everything was dished out he sat down to eat.” Don't worry about it Sasuke...you need to work and I'm fine. "

 

Sasuke frowned as he sat down. He knew Naruto still had the chakra that Kyuubi provided, but he still worried. He ate in silence with Naruto for a few moments before he spoke again.

 

 "I think we should figure out what to do now. You know with... everything." He wasn't really sure how to go about the situation but he wanted to include Naruto.

 

Naruto glanced up at Sasuke as he spoke, chewing the mouth full of food he had before swallowing it. He then looked down again, sighing softly.

 

"I know. No doubt Sai will start looking for me if he hasn't already. I can't just stay holed up here for the rest of my life..." He knew he'd have to face Sai and stand up to him. He'd have to tell him that it wouldn't work between them anymore. It would be hard… Despite all that Sai had done to him, he still cared about him and essentially he was doing exactly what he had promised he wouldn't do. He told Sai that he would never leave him but neither he nor Sasuke would ever truly be happy if he stayed with Sai.

 

"I know Sai has feelings for you too... If you two just talked as equals instead of him controlling every decision..." he paused, knowing that was the wrong thing to say.

 

"Maybe a neutral setting would be best. You're at a disadvantage if you try and confront him at his apartment. That's his territory. It would probably be better for both of you to talk somewhere where there are people around.” He knew from experience that positions of power were pretty much rendered useless in a public setting; society had a way of being quiet about their disputes in public.

 

"I can be there too if you want." he added a bit more quietly.

 

Naruto gave a soft sigh before he nodded, knowing Sasuke was right. In public, Sai had no choice but to be reasonable as he spoke with him. He looked up at Sasuke before he shook his head a bit,

 

"I… don't know if it will be good to have you there. At least not in sight, it will aggravate him more " Though he wanted Sasuke by his side, things might go more smoothly if Sasuke wasn't there...or if Sai at least didn't know Sasuke was there.

 

"Then I'll be somewhere nearby. Just in case something happens. Is that ok?" He wanted to make sure Naruto was safe and to do that... he had to be there. He already decided that he'd fight if he had to. His actions could be explained to the Hokage... She'd understand; he hoped she would at least.

 

Naruto nodded and smiled at Sasuke,

 

"That's fine. I'd actually prefer you to be there.” He continued to eat his lunch but as he did his stomach did little flip flops, he was still nervous about meeting Sai. He knew he'd be safe but he wasn't sure if he'd be strong enough to tell Sai what he needed to. If Sai begged and pleaded with him...he didn't know if he could take it.

 

Sasuke smiled back and finished off his lunch quickly before partially cleaning up and waited for Naruto to finish also. He knew sooner or later the day would come for Naruto to choose who he wanted to be with and in the end, he really hoped Naruto decided to leave the other man.



He approached the blonde and wrapped his arms around him.

 

"I'm going to head back to work. I should be home around seven tonight so if you'd like to wait that long I can bring dinner home, or you can find whatever you like here." he said before gently tracing Naruto's hurt cheek gently with a finger.

 

Naruto didn't take long finishing his meal after Sasuke finished and he watched the raven as he cleaned up slightly. He smiled at Sasuke, nodding lightly in reply.

 

"I'll wait for you. Then we can eat together.” he said softly loving the way Sasuke’s touch felt against his cheek.

 

Sasuke smiled and couldn't help but lean down to press his lips against the other man's gently.

 

"I'll see you later." was the last he said before making his way out the door. Hopefully the blonde would find something to occupy himself with for the rest of the day.

 

The whiskered ninja watched Sasuke leave before sighing softly as he got up from the table and headed back to the living room to watch some more T.V. to keep himself busy. Sitting down on the couch, he flipped on the device and found himself smiling widely. He could get used to being kissed like that…

The night went smoothly for Sasuke. He half expected Sai to either come to his house or to his place of work and demand to see Naruto. No doubt the man knew where Naruto was, considering what they had been constantly fighting about. Sasuke knew everything, considering the fact that Naruto had said he couldn't be friends with Sasuke anymore, which in his mind seemed very kindergarten-ish.  But all the same, why else would Naruto do that if it wasn't about him?



But there was no Sai which Sasuke was grateful for, and he hoped the man hadn't found out where he lived; to his knowledge, his place of residence wasn't readily known by most people in Konoha.



The raven shut the door to the stand and made his way home a bit quicker than usual. Now that he had someone to go home too... That was a nice concept.



Sasuke arrived at his apartment, unlocked the door and took off his shoes, all in the short time of twenty minutes. The first thing he saw upon arriving was Naruto fast asleep on the couch, remote in his hand and the glow from the TV shining on him.



The Uchiha shook his head and picked up the remote before turning the TV off and turning a light on. He sat on the edge of the couch next to the blonde man and leaned down to kiss his cheek softly before speaking gently in his ear. "I'm back."

 

Naruto only kept himself busy for so long watching TV. so once he grew bored of sitting around, he actually went outside for a bit. He didn't go far however and he stuck to a small area outside of Sasuke's place where he could do a little bit of training. He didn't train too hard however since he hadn't done it in quite some time, but it felt good to get some basic training in and test out how much he was lacking in his skills from not training. He spent a few hours doing that before he headed back inside to watch TV. and rest though he wasn't watching it for long before he fell asleep, tired from his training session.  And before he knew it, Sasuke returned home and he roused from his slumber as he felt a weight press on the couch cushion and Sasuke kissing his cheek lightly. He opened his eyes before smiling at the raven. 

 

“Hm...welcome home..." he purred softly.

 

The raven sat further on the couch and gently lifted Naruto up a bit so his back was against Sasuke's chest.

 

 "Did you find something to do today besides watch TV?" he chucked lightly as he ran a hand through Naruto's hair. How could he have ever thought he could deny his feelings?

 

Naruto smiled softly as he leaned back against Sasuke’s chest.

 

“ I went out and trained for a while...I figured I'd better start getting back into shape. I didn't go far though," he said before taking one of Sasuke's hands in his own and squeezing it gently as he rested his head against Sasuke's shoulder.

 

"Sounds fun..." Sasuke smiled sadly thinking that he could never really train again like he used to.

 

The raven gently kissed Naruto's neck before speaking again. "Are you hungry?"

 

Naruto sighed softly, wishing that he could spar with Sasuke but that could get the Uchiha in a lot of trouble so he couldn't really. It was a shame; though perhaps he could talk to the Hokage and ask if he could be given that bit of leeway. If it was just simple taijutsu sparring, then he didn't see why she couldn't allow it. Surely Sasuke proved that he wasn't a threat anymore.

The kiss to his neck drew him out of his thoughts and he blushed as his stomach growled loudly to reply for him. " Well I guess that answers it.."

 

Sasuke smiled and wrapped his arms around Naruto's waist.

 

"I'll make something in a few minutes. I just feel like holding you..." His last statement was whispered almost wistfully as he rested his head against Naruto's. He hadn't had much physical comfort in a while... years actually. Since he was a small child really. It was nice to have someone he knew would be there for him if he ever became sad. He had to admit his emotions were running for reasons Sasuke couldn't explain. Maybe just the mere presence of Naruto with him did it.



He took in a shaky breath before letting it out slowly trying not to let himself become overwhelmed. He was sure Naruto knew something was going on but he really didn't care, he needed to be close to someone at that moment.

 

Naruto leaned his head against Sasuke's and smiled as he rested in the raven's grip. He'd let Sasuke hold him for as long as he wished, though as he felt Sasuke's breath on his flesh from the Uchiha's shaky breathing.

 

He blinked his blue eyes before one hand moved up to caress Sasuke's pale cheek. He knew Sasuke needed the contact. He was sure it had been years since Sasuke had enjoyed being touched by another person.

 

The blonde smiled as he nuzzled the raven.  “It’s ok, you can hold me as long as you need to Sasuke...."

 

"Thanks." was all Sasuke said before leaning into the touch to his cheek and settling down into the couch, lightly caressing the blonde's stomach with his hands.

 

"I don't know how anyone could take you for granted... yet most do." He sighed and lifted one of his hands to run through blonde locks.

 

"They expect so much from you and yet they give nothing back, even our friends are like that." He knew he was running off at the mouth but he had been thinking about the treatment of his friend as of late; not just by Sai, but of the majority of the people in their lives. Sasuke figured Naruto knew how much people took advantage of him but what pissed Sasuke off was why the blonde allowed it.

 

Naruto breathed out a comforted breath of air, loving Sasuke’s touch. He shook his head at Sasuke's words however.

 

"I don't do things to get things in return. I really don't mind.” Friends were everything to Naruto and he would do anything for them, no matter what. Even let them walk all over him. Perhaps it was because he spent his childhood in loneliness that now he'd do anything to keep the friends he had now.

 

It was hard to hear the words that came out of his best friend. He knew how lonely Naruto had been in his childhood and for that, sort of understood. But it all just came down to the fact that most, even the Hokage, took advantage of Naruto.

 

"Your only true friends are those who stick with you even if you mess up. Like you; you never gave up on me. I made so many mistakes that initially hurt you and everyone you care about, yet you still..." Sasuke stopped, his emotions getting the better of him. "You deserve more; you deserve respect. You're a very giving person Naruto, and people don't realize how much you sacrifice for others."

 

Naruto sighed softly as he leaned into Sasuke, listening to him speak. He knew that Sasuke was right but it was too late to change who he was. He was just the type of person to let others walk all over him.

 

“Maybe so, but I still care for them all. It’s just the way I am. I don't think I can change.” he said softly.

 

Sasuke shook his head.

 

"I'd never ask you to change. I just want you to be as happy as you can I guess." He placed a gentle kiss to Naruto's neck but couldn't stop at one.

 

Sitting there with Naruto in his arms awoke desire inside the raven. A desire that had always been burning in him but he was too proud and scared to act on it. Now though, now he wasn’t afraid. Now he wanted to show the blonde how much he really needed him.
