Chapter 7: Trials and Truths are revealed

Sasuke sat in a large room he was at the center before him were rows of seats arranged in a half circle. The Hokage was seated in the center as a 14 men and women filed in and took their seats. Sasuke recognized the six clan representatives each wearing a kimono bearing their clan's trademark colors and family crest. First in line of course was the Hyuuga clan elder, a man with pale eyes and long grey hair tied back loosely. He was wearing a shimmering grayish lavender kimono a pattern of some kind of bird swooping across the silk.

The next seat was not taken. He knew that must be the Uchiha's seat which could not be filled because he was neither qualified to be a representative of his clan nor could he act as a juror at his own trial. Then a woman with the red fang markings on her wrinkled cheeks must be the Inuzuka Representative. Her hair was silver and cropped close to her head. She wore a red and white kimono with dogs chasing around the hem of her kimono. She took the third seat.

A middle aged man with swirl markings on each cheek took the fourth seat. He was a large built man wearing a maroon and steel gray kimono. On the second tear slightly above the front a man wearing dark glasses dresses in a muted green kimono with beetle like insects seemingly crawling across the swath of silk. On second look he realized that they were crawling.

The sixth seat was also vacant. Sasuke wondered about this, 'What clan should have taken that seat.' The seventh seat he saw a blond woman with light blue eyes. She wore a dark purple kimono with a floral design. The final seat was taken by a dark haired woman with sharp looking eyes. She wore a deep forest green and black kimono with a stag racing around her waist. They all sat on the right hand side of the Hokage.

Then the eight elected representatives filed in. All wore the same dark navy kimono. All kimonos both those of the clan representatives and the elected representatives wore a symbol for the leaf village on their right shoulder. There were three woman and five men on the left side. When the seats were filled Sasuke noticed that there were seats arranged on the left hand side. Sasuke's eyes widened as a frightened blond was lead in followed by Nakamura, and Takeda.

Naruto was made to sit beside the boy who would have raped him had Sasuke not intervened. Kakashi walked in his face was blank, but Sasuke felt the killing aura surrounding him. Iruka followed he was not hiding his rage. He looked on the boys that hurt Naruto with a anger, both genins paled at the look the chuunin teacher spared him. They were sat in the row of seats that looked over Sasuke's shoulder.

Sasuke felt a hand rest on his shoulder ha looked behind to see his sensei and former teacher, "We are behind you." Kakashi's eye curved in a crescent to indicate he was smiling at his student.

"Damn it! They made Naruto-kun sit beside that monster!" Iruka hissed out the complaint.

"It will be alright Iruka-kun," Kakashi tried to comfort the man.

"Look at him he's terrified. I can not believe they are going to make him testify!" Sasuke felt the hate coming off Iruka.

The second everybody was settled Lady Tsunade banged a gavel on the podium she was seated behind, "I call this hearing to order. Uchiha Sasuke please rise to hear the charges against you." The boy stood he glanced briefly to Naruto who looked very worried for his friend but was also sliding away from the boy next to him as he none to discretely brushed against Naruto’s upper thigh. Sasuke swallowed his rage and faced the council with his head held high.

"Uchiha Sasuke you have been charged with the aggravated assault of a fellow shinobi. How do you plea?"

"I plead not guilty."

"Very well," She nodded to him, "Uchiha-san have you been made aware of your rights?"

He nodded, "Yes, Lady Hokage."

"Do you swear to tell the truth?"

"Yes ma'am."

"You will be subject to questioning by the council, you must answer any and all questions to the satisfaction of the council."

"Yes ma'am."

"Thank-you Uchiha-san, please take your seat," She smiled briefly at him. He sat and felt his sensei's hand resting on his shoulder once again. He was surprised that he felt better with a supporting hand there letting him know he was not alone, "I turn the floor over to the council."

Sasuke sat waiting feeling like a piece of meat tied to a string being dangled before a room of ravenous wolves. He only ever felt such fear twice before, once was when he was running through the blood soaked halls of his home being chased by his insane brother. The only other time he felt such fear was in facing down a possessed Naruto fighting for his sanity. Sasuke felt this was a piece of cake compared to those times. He held himself proudly and looked each elder in the eyes and showed not an inkling of discomfort.

Then the questioning began. He was asked incredibly personal things. He answered all truthfully mindful that the Hyuuga had his bayukagan activated and would detect any deception. Then they began asking about Naruto and his relationship, and the day in question specifically.

"Uchiha-san what are your feelings toward Uzumaki Naruto?" One of the elders on Hokage's right asked.

Sasuke swallowed before answering carefully, "I-I care greatly for Naruto. He is my closest friend." It was not a lie. He saw the Hyuuga lean over and whisper into the Inuzuka's ears. She seemed to sniffed the air then spoke, "Please clarify, what is the nature of your feelings. Is it merely platonic or are you harboring romantic feelings toward Uzumaki."

"I am in love with him," Sasuke admitted he looked briefly at the object of his affections. He saw the smirk on Nakamura's face as he rested his hand on a rigid Naruto. Sasuke saw the shallow quick breaths taken by the boy he worried greatly for Naruto.

"Do you think you were the best person to watch over Uzumaki while he was recovering?" The Aburame represenative asked cooly.

"Yes."

"Did you attack either Nakamura, or Takeda?" He questioned fruther.

"Yes, I threatened Takeda, and I beat up Nakamura," Sasuke said unflinchingly, "They took Naruto into an alley way and assaulted him."

One of the elected elders smirked and asked in a haughty voice, "How do you know they assaulted the boy. Could it have been consensual?"

Sasuke clenched his teeth, "No, sir. Naruto was not a willing party. Naruto was crying and he was being pinned to a wall by Nakamura."

"Could it be that you misinterpreted the situation in your jealously?"

"No."

"Could it be that you were denied what Uzumaki freely gave to Nakamura, and Takeda," The man's voice dripped with malice.

"No, sir," Sasuke clenched his fists to the point of breaking the skin. Blood dripped from his fists onto the white marble floor.

"So you were only acting to protect your charge?" The blonde Sasuke guessed must be Yamanaka's elder. The woman did resemble Ino greatly.

"Yes ma'am," He relaxed a bit. The elders began speaking quietly.

Tsunade banged her gavel, "We will take a recess of fifteen minutes then the witnesses will be called."

Sasuke relaxed and opened his hands to look at the crescent shaped cuts across his palms. He wondered if Naruto would be made to speak next. He feared for the boy. The direction and tone the questioning had been heading would undoubtedly upset Naruto.

"Sasuke?"

"Hn?"

"Are you OK?"

"Hn." Sasuke stared forward and zoned out for the rest of the break. When the gavel was banged he jumped only slightly.

"Uzumaki Naruto will you please come forward?" The Hokage called to him. Her tone was soft and betrayed her concern. Naruto stood up and took the seat for witnesses. "Uzumaki Naruto, do you understand your rights?" Naruto nodded. She herself explained everything to him. Naruto fidgeted in his seat and looked at his toes. To Sasuke he looked like a very frightened little boy. His heart broke for Naruto.

The questioning began..."Uzumaki-san what happened that day in your own words." Naruto retold the story in a shaking voice. "Is it not true that you were willingly engaged in illicit activities with Nakamura?"

Naruto shook his head as a tear leaked out his eye.

"Please answer the question." The man glared at the frightened boy.

"No. I was taken there-"

"Did you not go there with the boy?"

"Yes, but-"

"You invited the contact."
"No."

"You lead the boy on, did you not?"

"No!" Naruto shouted.

"You were whoring yourself out!" the man screamed at Naruto. Naruto looked at the man and something clicked in his mind. He started shaking, "Admit it you little slut!"

Naruto doubled over and slumped to the floor, "NOOOO! Don't touch me! Please Stop!" Naruto rocked himself as he had a breakdown.

"THAT IS ENOUGH!" The Hokage screamed then she jumped her podium and ran to the boy, "I call a recess, everybody leave NOW!" The elected officials filed out the man who had caused Naruto's breakdown seemed to be in an excellent mood he looked down at the boy as he walked past.

"Hokage-sama?" The Inuzuka elder touched her shoulder as she administered treatment to Naruto."

What do you want Inuzuka-sama? I thought I told you all to get out?" She looked up angrily. She saw Inuzuka was not alone. The Hyuuga and Auberame elders were standing behind her.

"We sensed something amiss with Saito-sama," A frown marred her wrinkled face. I scented it. Auberame's insects are going crazy and Hyuuga detected it with his eyes. Saito became aroused the second Naruto-san took the stand. His pleasure increased as he questioned the boy. Naruto's eyes dilated and right before his break he seemed to recognize something. The smell of fear is thick. I think we need to question Naruto, but first give him a sedative.”

“I never liked that bastard," The woman stood and bent down to pick up Naruto who was still shaking. She was not surprised that he was light. She carried the boy, "Come to my office."

Naruto was rested on the Hokage's couch. She injected something into Naruto, "Give him a minute."

Naruto yawned. He looked around the room, "Hello." He smiled softly.

"Naruto?"

"Uh-huh?"

"We need you to answer some questions."

"Okay," He smiled and nodded.

"You know elder Saito don't you?"

Naruto frowned but shook his head, "Don't like him. He touches me in bad places." Naruto shivvered.

“It seems like the boy has regressed,” Inuszuka-sama spoke.

The Hokage growled low, "Where did he touch you."

Naruto looked around the room. He cupped his mouth, “He touched my bottom, and my pee-pee. I don't like it. Ruka-sensei said those are places only me and the doctor are allowed to touch. Is he a doctor?" Naruto cocked his head.

"How old are you Naruto?" The Inuzuka woman asked suddenly.
"I'm eight," he held up the correct number of fingers as a child that age might.

"Naruto-san? How often does Saito-sama touch you?"

Naruto seemed to ponder the question then he shrugged his shoulders, "Lots. He comes to my 'partment. Sometimes more men come with him. They like to play games, but they bring stinky drinks that make me dizzy too..." Naruto yawned and stretched again, "I'm sleepy. Can I go to sleep?"

"Not yet Naruto," The Hokage spoke, "These other men? Can you name them?"

Naruto shrugged? Don't 'member, but can tell what they look like.

"Ok Naruto-san."

"Um there's Saito-sama. He comes to me or he brings me to his house. He's mean and hits me, but he gives me food that's nice. 'Nother has funny eyes. They are pretty, but no color. Like yours mister." he pointed to the Hyuuga. The man set his face in a scowl.

"The boy is not lying," The Hyuuga elder spoke through clenched teeth, "This will be investigated."

"Naruto did the man have a green marking on his head?" Naruto shrugged.

"Had a headband on. I want one. He was nicer. He liked to kiss my face and told me I's pretty."

"Damn," the Hyuuga elder cursed, "This can not be allowed. I am sorry Naruto-san, Hokage-sama. Our clan has betrayed this village."

The woman was staring at the boy and only nodded silently, "Any others?"

"Uh-huh? Some of the men in Hokage tower. The men with animal masks came to me. They hurt me bad," Naruto whimpered slightly. His head lulled, "Sleepy."

"Naruto, which ones?"

"Kitty, puppy, bird, turtle," Naruto's head fell back his mouth still open.

"Damn-damn! Kami! Damn-it! He was not lying," She shouted at the sleeping figure. She arranged the boy so he was more comfortable.

"No Hokage sama, I think he was holding back, but what he told you was at least what he thought was the truth." The Hyuuga spoke mournfully, "I must Inform Haishai-sama of the indiscretions of one of our warriors. If we can discover him we will turn him over to you."

"I am afraid we will have to send an investigation unit into your clan also," She looked up from where she was kneeling before the sleeping child. The man nodded.

The Hokage called for her guards, "Get that bastard Saito! Take him to Ibiki!" She wrote up a scroll and sealed it, "This will explain to him what I need from him."

The woman called for Kakashi and Iruka. They came to collect Naruto.

"Iruka," The woman addressed him, "Naruto regressed to the age of eight. He may awake in that state. Please watch him, if his condition changes let me know." Kakashi picked the boy up and the two leaped out the window and ran over the roof tops.

"Damn-it!" The Hokage cursed loudly, "I am going to have to call a mistrial. In light of the facts and the conflict of interest."

The three elders nodded, "You will have our support."

"May I ask you? Does Uzumaki have your support?" She looked at the tree. The three nodded but did not speak openly.
