“Lee are you sure you really want to leave?” Gai asked for what seemed, to Lee, the one-hundredth time that afternoon.
“Yes sensei, I’m sure.” Lee replied politely. It was starting to get on his nerves, everyone kept asking about he and Gaara and if the rumors were true.
“Because if your some how being forced into this…” Gai continued. “If he’s making you go through with this in any way…”
“He’s not, I’m going because I want to go.” Shoving the last article of clothing into his travel bag, Lee sighed and took one last scan of his bedroom making sure he hadn’t forgotten something important.
Gai was standing in his bedroom door way and had been there for the last hour trying to hint at him staying here and not leaving with Gaara.
“You promise you’ll come back and visit” Gai asked sorrowfully, finally giving up.
“Yes I promise.” Lee said giving his teacher ‘The Nice Guy Pose.’ “I’m going to be coming back every 3 months to receive my missions remember? I’m still loyal to Konoha.”
Hefting his oversized bag on his left shoulder Lee started toward the exit of his house only to stop and give his teacher a hug goodbye.
“Thank you sensei for all you taught me, I’ll be back.” Lee then took one more scan of his house making sure everything was in place. This was going to be his vacation home for when he came back for visiting and missions. Turning he and Gai walked out the door and onto the streets of Konoha.
Lee was very grateful to the Fifth due to her understanding and support of the situation of him going to live in the Sand village and still accept him back as one of Konoha’s ninjas.
Lee finally reached the gate, which lead out of Konoha to be greeted by a small crowd of friends and loved one’s. Tenten had apologized for smacking him around when he had forgotten to train and gave him a loving hug. Gaara looked on from the outskirts underneath a giant oak tree and was unbelievingly smiling as his lover bid his friends goodbye.
“Oy fuzzy eyebrows!” Exclaimed an obnoxious blond fox ninja running up to the front of the crowd. Naruto clapped him on the shoulder “Now tell us again what that red headed sand nin has what we don’t?” He said teasingly.
“Will you miss it…them?” Gaara asked looking up at the sunset, which painted the sky. They had been walking for an hour in silence when Gaara had finally spoken up.
“I guess…but I’m going to go and visit ever 3 months so it’s not that big of a deal.” Lee replied looking over at Gaara. He had a frown on his face and was looking a bit unsure…’He must not think I truly want to be going with him.’
Gaara was lost in apprehensive thoughts until he felt something warm and soft slip into his hand. Looking down to his side he found it was Lee’s hand fingers laced with his, which was the source of the warmth. Looking up surprised Gaara cocked his head to a side to inquire just what he was doing. Lee smiled and turned to him.
“Where ever you are Gaara, that’s home.” With that Lee squeezed his hand reassuringly and turned back to the sunset. Gaara just smiled happily, truly happy for once in his life.
