The Fox Hunt

Naruto woke up with only a slight recollection of the night before. He slowly became more aware of everything, then remembered the awsomeness of the night. He sat up and stretched, rubbing his eyes. He tossed off his covers and swung his legs over the side of the bed, shivering when his bare feet hit the cold floor. He stood and shuffled over to the kitchenette, grabbing a ramen packet. He opened it, put the noodles into a plastic sandwich bag, then pounded it. He then added the flavor packet holding the bag closed and shook it.

He took bites of his ramen as he was getting ready for school. He pulled on some baggy army pants and a well fitting, sleeveless, black, t-shirt. He put his books and whatnot back into his backpack, slinging it onto his back. He also grabbed his camera to snap pictures of everyone's faces. He slipped on his black oversized Vans and grabbed his helmet. He opened the front door and stopped in his tracks.

Sasuke smirked at the look on Naruto's face when he left the apartment. He turned on the engine to his black convertable and tried to refocus Naruto's attention.

"Dobe! Snap out of it"

Naruto's head snapped up and he looked at Sasuke. "Sorry, it's just....well.... you seemed so cold last night."

"You weren't paying attention to what you had set up, it was kinda pissing me off."

Naruto scratched the back of his head then looked down at his feet. "Sorry about that, I wasn't expecting him to be there."

Sasuke just smirked. "What? Were you starstruck?"

Naruto's face flushed red. "Possibly..."

"Aww how cute... Now get in."

Naruto tried to be cool about getting in, by jumping over the door. But, being Naruto he failed miserably and somehow caught his foot on the door, his head landing dangerously close to the door on the other side of the car. He looked up at Sasuke.

"Not a word..."

Sasuke was smirking once more. "You're so clumsy... Now get up before I take a picture of this."

Naruto's eyes widened and he shot up, landing in his seat in about a second. He turned and glared at the raven haired teen sitting next to him. "So, why are you picking me up?"

Sasuke started to move the car, pulling out of the parking lot. "I don't know...your bike looks, beat up." Naruto looked at his bike as they were pulling away and for the first time realized how true Sasuke's statement was.

"So, I can still ride it."

"Hn. That's what you think."

Naruto pouted and glared out the front window. As Sasuke pulled onto the road, his and Naruto's hair started to whip around in the wind. Naruto's less so then Sasuke's because of the length. Naruto shivered slightly due to the Janurary weather.
Sasuke hit some buttons still looking forward and music started to play. (*)

'I think I'm breaking out

Naruto looked at the window, singing softly with the music. Sasuke looked over at him, a thought popping into his head. He turned the music down slightly and it started to fade into the background.

Sasuke could now better hear Naruto's voice. They pulled up to the school and Naruto seemed oblivious to the fact that the car had stopped. Sasuke messed around with his stereo and made the voices fade away so it was just the instrumental part.

"You can't stop me now
You can't hold me down
You can't keep me here, I'm on my way
I've made it this far now
And I'm not burning out
No matter what you say, I'm not afraid"

Sasuke turned off his car, the music stopping. Naruto continued to sing for a moment, not noticing the lack of music.

"Way away away from here I'll be
Way away away so you can s-"

Naruto blinked for a moment realizing he was singing ocapello. "Hey, you stopped it."

"Yes, yes I did."

"I happen to like that song."

"Yeah, I figured that out..."

Naruto eyed his curiously. "What's with that look on your face?"

"Well, I have this band... and we've been looking for a lead singer for quite a while. I've been doing the singing, but I prefer playing the bass. So I was wondering if you'd like to join?"

Naruto sat for a second processing what Sasuke had just said. "So, you want me to join your band?"

"Well, it's more Gaara's band... but yeah."

"Who else is in it?"

"Haku and Neji."

"Sure, sounds fun."

"Great. We meet Wednesdays after school at the mansion."

"And the band is called...?"

"Sandstorm."

Sasuke grabbed his backpack along with Naruto's and got out of the car. "Come on, we gotta meet the others."

Naruto nodded and opened the door, not wanting to fall flat on his face. He got out and Sasuke tossed his backpack to him. They walked over to where they would be meeting their friends and other classmates. People were going up one at a time to the roof to make Jiriaya's shock greater. It looked like they had already gotten half the class up. Naruto hoped the roof was strong enough to support so many people.

Sasuke spotted Suigetsu right away, since he wasn't hard to miss, and, though he didn't want to admit it, he was jealous of him. He had already started plotting what he would do to make Naruto jealous and hoped that Suigetsu had come back to town with his cousin.

Sasuke smirked slightly. "Nice job dobe. Who knew you actually had a brain in there?" Sasuke said as he knocked on Naruto's head.

Naruto glared at him. "Shut it teme."

"Right, because I'd hate wrecking your rep as a total genius." Sasuke was doing a very nice job of distracting Naruto from Suigetsu until the latter walked up to them.

Suigetsu smiled and Naruto swooned. Sasuke felt a pange of jealousy, but he didn't let it show, he was an Uchiha after all.

"Hey guys, what's up?" Sasuke scowled slightly at how Naruto seemed to be lost in everything that was Suigetsu. Sasuke still thought he was a vampire, because no human should have teeth that sharp. The thought on Suigetsu somehow encanting Naruto with his vampire-ness, ultimately made him feel better about the whole situation.

"Sasuke?" The raven haired teen snapped out of his thought tangent.

"I'm sorry what was that?"

"Garaa and Kiba are ready to take you up now."

Sasuke nodded and walked over to his classmates. He got onto the platform and nodded again, the other two starting to lift him up. Slowly the voices on the ground faded and the voices above him became clearer. When he was at roof level he got off their make-shift elevator and tugged lightly on the rope.

He walked over to his desk and sat down, putting on his head phones before anyone could speak to him. He randomly selected a song(!) and started to listen.

'In this farewell, there's no blood, there's no aliby
Cause I've drawn regrets from the truth of a thousand lies'

Just then Sakura walked up and started to talk to him. He pointed to his head phones and mouthed the words 'I can't hear you.'

'So let mercy come and wash away,
What I've done, I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become
Erase myself, and let go of what I've done'

Just then someone walked up behind Sasuke and placed their hands over his eyes. They took out the headphones and bent over to Sasuke's ear. "Guess who."

Sasuke shivered slightly as the warm breath hit his ear. Only two people were brave enough to do that and he could hear the other one chatting with Sakura about how he pulled the prank off.

"Sasori"

"Well, you could at least pretend you didn't know it was me." Sasori moved his head and kissed Sasuke on the neck.

Sasuke turned to look at the red haired teen. "Wow, it's been so long..."

Sasori smiled warmly. "Yes it has. I see Suigetsu is with Naruto again..."

Sasuke frowned slightly. "I'm fully aware of that."

Sasori moved around to the other side of the desk, looking at Sasuke. He saw the somewhat far away look in his eyes and realized what was going on.

"You're mad at him aren't you?"

Sasuke blinked. "Mad at who?"

"Naruto and possibly Suigetsu..."

Sasuke looked down at his desk, turning off his iPod. "Now why would you ever say that?"

Before Sasori could respond Naruto walked up to the two of them. "Sasori, get closer to Sasuke, I wanna take a picture."

Sasori nodded and moved back next to Sasuke. Sasori smiled and Sasuke kinda smirked a little. Naruto snapped the picture. "Kay, thanks guys."

Naruto walked away and Sakura seeing Sasuke ran over and hugged him. "Great job Sasuke-kun"

Sasuke glared while Sasori laughed, bringing Sakura's attention to him.

"Oh my gosh! Sasori!" Sakura let go of Sasuke and practically tackled Sasori, though he kept his balance.

"Careful Sakura, don't knock him off the roof." Sasuke chuckled looking at the slight discomfort written on Sasori's face.

"You know Sakura, Suigetsu is here too."

"Really?!?" She let go of Sasori and ran over to Suigetsu hugging him in the same manner as Naruto laughed hysterically.

"Thanks for that."

"No problem."

Just then Kiba peeked over the drainpipes on the roof. "Everyone get in your seats, he's coming." Kiba hung onto the roof, setting the scene for Jiriaya. He and Gaara turned to watch him as he parked and started to walk over. Gaara sighed looking at Naruto who was sure to be video taping this.

Gaara ran over to Jiriaya. "Jiriaya! Kiba won't come down. He's gonna fall soon." Jiriaya looked up at Kiba and gasped. He went over to the platform and stood on it.

"Bring me up Gaara! Quickly!" Jiriraya looked up at Kiba with a worried expression. "Hang in there Kiba!

"My arms are getting tired, my hands gonna slip."

Gaara continued to lift his teacher, knowing they had limited time. He knew Sasuke was probably up and helping to support Kiba's weight, but people could only last so long. The space between Jiriaya and Kiba was closing.

For effect Kiba had one of his hands slip which confirmed Gaara's thought that Sasuke was there. Jiriaya's head was around the spot of Kiba's stomach, so he started to talk to him. "Kiba, come on back down with me, I'm sure Gaara can support us both. We'll go down to class and forget any of this happened."

Kiba turned down to look at him. "I can't go down, it would ruin eveything." Gaara heard the cue and started moving the platform faster.

Jiriraya's eyes widened. "Are you trying to kill yourself Kiba?"

Just then Jiriaya was level with the roof. He looked out at the setup dumbfounded. Naruto started snapping pictures of the look on his face. "These will be great for the yearbook!"

Jiriaya looked back at Kiba who was now on the roof, patting Sasuke on the back. "Thanks for the help bro. I totally would have fallen if it hadn't been for you."

"Yeah, no problem. You owe me though."

Kiba smiled and went over to his seat as people congradulated him on his acting. Gaara got Jiriaya all the way up so he could get onto the roof. He then went over to the fire escape and started to climb up. The scene up on the roof was still pretty crazy. Jiriaya had moved and was saying how it so closely resembled his room, even done to the fine details. Naruto was behind him, videotaping his every word and movement. Sasuke was sitting at his seat, his elbows on the desk and his head resting in his hands as he had a bored expression on his face.

Just then Iruka walked by and Naruto yelled down to him. "Hey Iruka-sensi! Look at me!!!"

Iruka looked up and a mixture of panic and anger hit his face. "Naruto! Get down here this instant!!!"

Suigetsu appeared next to him, followed slowly by Haku, Kiba, Gaara, and Neji.

Iruka started to panic. "Boys, come down from there this instant!"

Then Jiriaya appeared. "Calm down Iruka, they're fine. Oh, and I think they'll be missing first period, actually, I think everyone will. They will all be bringing everything back to the classroom." Jiriaya didn't have to yell, his voice happened to carry better then Iruka's.

Iruka nodded. "Just make sure no one gets hurt." He then walked back into the building, knowing that a certain siver haired man would soon figure out, he had no class this period.

Jiriraya turned back to the class. "Okay kids, you've had your fun. Time to put everything back before Tsunade finds out."

Just then Orochimaru walked up, Tsunade behind him. He pointed to the roof, then the elevator thing. Tsunade stepped on and Orochimaru lifted her up. She gasped loudly when she saw the set-up and Naruto snapped a picture of her face.

She fumed. "After you all clean this up, I want the people responsable in my office. And if you don't turn yourselves in, the whole senior class will be forbidden to go to the prom."

Everyone started yelling and arguing with Tsunade.

"Aww come on!"

"That's sooo not fair!"

"It's just senior prank, it's not like anyone got hurt!"

"We were just about to bring everything back!"

"Even Jiriaya is up here, are you gonna punish him too?"

Tsunade looked at all the angry teenagers, sighing softly. "My word is final. Jiriaya will be put on suspense for a week and while he's gone, Orochimaru will teach his social studies class. Which means, I will take over for Asuma's math class until he returns."

She climbed back onto the elevator. "I want to know who was responsable by the end of the day, otherwise, no prom." Orochimaru started to lower her and she was soon no longer visible.

Everyone turned to look at Kiba, Gaara, Naruto, and Sasuke. Ino was the first to speak. "If you guys don't turn yourselves in, I'm doing it for you." Naruto cringed at the thought of Ino turning them in. It seemed like no one knew that Suigetsu, Haku, and Shikamaru had been there as well and that Shika had made the elevator. Naruto thought it was better if only the four of them got punished, since that's all anyone knew.

The next hour and a half went by in a blur. They got most everyone accept the four 'guilty' people off the roof and started an assembly line. Everyone was passing chairs and tables and random items that belonged around the room. The four boys were talking as they loaded the elevator and sent it back down.

Naruto was the first to speak about the subject. "We're not telling about the others."

Sasuke nodded in agreement. "Hopefully, they'll be wise enough, not to screw it up by turning themselves in."

Kiba laughed softly. "Shika, that lazy ass, would never turn himself in. The other two might do it for me and Mr. Sunnypants over there."

Sasuke and Gaara snickered as Naruto whirled around. "Mr. Sunnypants?!? You think that's funny dog breath?!?"

Naruto was about to lunge for Kiba when Sasuke caught and stopped him. "Dobe, we dont need you two falling off the roof. Haku doesn't need more loss in his life. Though no one would miss you..."

Naruto's glare turned onto Sasuke's onyx eyes. "Everyone would miss me teme. You on the other hand, I'm not so sure."

"Hn."

The total lack of reaction Naruto got from Sasuke made him even madder. Sasuke turned around and started to walk away and the blonde was about to launch himself onto the other's back when Gaara stepped inbetween them, stopping Naruto dead in his tracks. Gaara bopped Naruto on the head. "Don't even think about it." He turned going to walk away. "Unless you want to be dead."

Naruto pouted and mumbled something unaudible. He brought the last chair over to the elevator and tugged on the rope, watching it descend. Kiba and Gaara were already going down the fire escape and Naruto followed them, with Sasuke behind him.

When they reached the ground, people were starting to walk back into Jiriaya's room. They had missed 1st and 2nd, plus most of 3rd period. Naruto saw Kiba talking to Haku, so he decided to find Suigetsu. When he did the blue haired boy looked concerned. "Naru-chan, I-"

Naruto cut him off before he could finish. "I'm fine, I'm used to it. I can handle Baa-chan." He smiled softly. "But, she doesn't need to know you had anything to do with this. When we were up on the roof, we decided since she only knew about the four of us, we'd just turn ourselves in and leave you, Haku, and Shikamaru out of it."

Suigetsu stood in shock as Naruto walked away.

Okay, in the next chapter, we will find out the punishment for the four boys. And how Naruto reacts to Sasuke hooking up with Sasori.
