Confession
AN: Okay, so this is the last chapter of the Gaffe. I might write an epilogue later, but for now, this is it. Thank you all for reading and, especially, for reviewing. Enjoy!
Ryu Earth: It was quite cruel from Iruka, but I can somewhat understand him.
moo: I'm glad you liked it and hope you find this chapter satisfying ^.^
satterb: Thanks. I think Iruka's confused himself, and didn't want Otake to know... or not.
Anise: Quite uncharacteristic of Kakashi, I admit. Hope this chapter will set things right.
Senna-chan: It was a good speculation and I agree. And I'm happy I managed to awake these thoughts in you.
Travellyr: True. Not to mention, if they do leave their wives you might have to live with the guilt of breaking up their marriage.
msuzumaki: Yeah, this story ended up more angsty than I had intended...
Pixie: Sorry, took me quite long to update, but I did!
Meggie: For once it's Iruka who's insecure and inconsiderate.
lividangel: Thanks. I get blind for my own text (bad excuse, I know,) so there probably are typos left in this chapter, as well, but I try to fix them. I'm glad to hear my writing has matured and happy to know I'm capable of improvement. I hope you enjoy this chapter, too!
reixgaara: Glad to hear. And now that I'm, probably, finished with this story I get to read yours! I don't currently have any other sites. Do you?

'Please don't leave me! I'll do anything for you, I mean it. I love you so much!' Kakashi had wanted to say. Instead, he had managed only, 'What do you want me to do?' In a defeated voice. If the chuunin said the word, he would fight for him. Hell, he would kill for Iruka; he had done much worse for a lot less.
'I don't know. Give me some time, I have to think things through.' Had been the teacher's answer.
'Okay.' He had said. It wasn't OK. It hurt like a beast tearing thin slices of meat off his chest with its long, sharp teeth. But there wasn't anything more Kakashi could have done. He couldn't force Iruka to choose him. And to pressure the chuunin would probably only push him further away.
How the hell did Otake get such a tight hold on Iruka? I've used my best charm on him and it feels like I'm coming second! Kakashi's eyes followed a line of thin, engraved marks stopping at a name he had spent countless hours staring at. When did it become so complicated? Isn't love suppose to be wonderful? Shouldn't we be basking in happiness, enjoying each other, having the time of our life?
“What can I do?” He asked softly.
“You spent awfully lot of time talking to a stone, it's not healthy.” A man, clad in black had appeared next to him.
“Hi Genma.”
The tokubetsu jounin laid a small bottle of sake on the black base of the stone. He put his hands together, closed his eyes, hung his head and said a silent prayer.
“I heard you came out from the closet.” Genma stated, staring blankly at the memorial stone.
“Eh?”
“You're going out with a man, aren't you?” Kakashi sighed, he didn't want to discuss the relationship he most likely didn't have any more.
“And you're against it, as well?”
“As well?” So Asuma didn't tell his opinion, Kakashi thought.
“Asuma didn't try to hide his disapproval.” He answered trying to sound as reluctant to enter the subject as possible.
“Wouldn't know about that. I think it's great.” Kakashi glanced at the man, Genma's eyes were following a lonely seagull circling in the air. “I'm happy you've found someone special.”
“Yeah.” The younger jounin turned his eye on the memorial stone. He had found someone special, if only the feeling were mutual.
“It was pretty bold of you to shout something like that on a crowded street. Yumiko-san said the girls wouldn't stop talking about it.”
“Yumiko-san?”
“Yeah, we used to go out.” Genma said pensively. That's why she looked so familiar, Kakashi thought waiting for Genma to continue. “She told me she had the hots on you, before she saw you hold hands with a brown haired shinobi at the café she works in. You should know, girls like to gossip.”
Kakashi didn't mind people talking. He didn't mind getting labelled or avoided. Ever since his team-mate had died in the Great war, the copy-nin had lived according to his own rules, without caring about appearances. Friendship was what mattered, the lives of others mattered, not rumours or raising eyebrows. It had worked for him, until the day before yesterday. I should've kept my mouth shut. Maybe then Otake wouldn't have found out and I'd be with Iruka. It was a stupid thought. Otake would have found out eventually and the situation would be the same. Kakashi still had a competitor, he just hadn't acknowledged it.
“You're uncannily quiet. Don't tell me you've had your first lovers' quarrel?”
“I don't think so.” It cannot be called a quarrel if we don't even talk about it.
“No? Spit it out, what's the matter?”
The copy-nin wasn't one to share his troubles with friends, no matter how close they were, and shook his head. Even thinking about Iruka, wondering what he was thinking and whom he was with, hurt.
“Come, let me buy you a drink.” It probably was the pained expression on Kakashi's face that made Genma add, “Then you can decide if you want to talk about it or not”.
The hours passed and drinks flowed in a shabby, poky bar. Couple of hard drinks between beers helped the younger jounin loosen his tongue and get fast relief from the numbness of intoxication.
“We agreed not to hide our relationship, which apparently doesn't mean the same as admitting it. Humph, I'm confused. I mean, why didn't he want Otake to know? Was he saving a back-up plan to get back together with him, or was he planning to go out with both of us?” Kakashi gulped down a shot of whisky. “No, that's too mean. But I thought that now, after we fucked, it'd—”
“Wait, what? You've fucked already?” Genma's voice rang over the outdated mainstream music.
“Uh, yeah... Well, it's not like—” He was cut off again.
“I really didn't think you were gay, so I thought it'd take longer to, you know. How long have you been together?”
“Eh, um, for some time now... It wasn't for me like, how should I say, I don't think I like men... I just, like a man. I lo- like Iruka.” The thought made Kakashi turn grave. “I really like him. And now,” he swallowed hard, “he might leave me.” The words were sinking in. His own voice sounded utterly unfamiliar and distant, which made the painful truth feel shockingly real. “I might lose him.”
“Hey, it's not over yet. He hasn't told you anything definite, has he?” Genma slapped the copy-nin on the back.
“No, but I'm lost. I don't know what to do. I fear saying him anything, to pressure him. I don't want him to feel obligated.” He sipped his beer. “You cannot force someone to feel... I can't make him love me.”
“True. But if you don't tell him how you feel and what you think, how is he supposed to know?” Genma tilted the senbon needle up and down in his mouth. “He's not a mind reader and neither are you. He might be struggling to figure out your feelings right now. Maybe he's as insecure as you are.”
“Nah. He told me to leave him alone. He needs time.”
“Really? I'm starting to wonder if he is as sweet and caring as you've let me believe.”
“He is. It's just that I was a total idiot a while back. I said some inane, hurtful, prejudiced things and he has every right to be distrustful of me.”
“A while back?”
“Yeah, a year or so.”
“That long? Well, to be frank, he should've gotten over it. Why else would he go out with you, not to mention, go in bed with you?” Genma rolled the needle to the other side of his mouth. “Someone ought to slap a bit sense into him. Here you are, a great, formerly straight guy ruminating and wallowing in misery because of him. There are hot girls lining to get into your pants.”
“Heh, thanks. I just feel so helpless, like waiting judgement.”
“Then you should do something about it. No matter how wrong you've done him, Iruka shouldn't treat you like this. I mean, you don't have to sit and wait, you could confront him and tell how you feel. Or you could end the whole thing, there's plenty of fish in the sea.”
“Tsch, couldn't do that. Can't you see I'm heartbroken, head over heels fallen for the sexiest, most adorable, gorgeous chuunin that exists?” The drunken haze only made Kakashi feel more wretched.
“Yeah, I can see that. But I stand by my words, you should do something about it. Tell him how you feel, let him see how fucked up you are because of him, do something. Honestly, you can't just sit and watch as another man steals your boyfriend away.” Genma turned to level his gaze with Kakashi's. “Lets face it, this Otake-guy isn't exactly sitting on his hands, now, is he? From what you've told me, Iruka seems like the committing type. Otake's divorcing his wife and asking Iruka to move in with him. He's playing the hardball and you're just 'giving Iruka time'. Man, if he's worth it, you have to act.”
“He's worth everything.”
“Then go!” Kakashi was already standing up. “No, wait, better if you wait until you're sober.” The copy-nin sat down on his old seat.
Am I really letting him go? But he told me to do nothing.
'What do you want me to do?'
'I don't know. Give me some time, I have to think things through.'
That's right. He didn't answer me. The last thing Kakashi wanted was to give up and let Otake have Iruka. He loved the chuunin; Iruka was perfect in every way, if he were a woman Kakashi would marry him. Damn it. Genma's right, I have to do something.
Large, feather-like snowflakes floated leisurely in the air, every now and then rising upwards riding the air currents, spinning slowly around before gently falling on the ground. First there were only a few, but by the time Kakashi reached Iruka's apartment building the air was filled with white, unhurriedly wafting flakes. It was hard to see farther than few meters, and most people had chosen to stay indoors. At the other side of the yard children were playing in the snow, rejoicing over winter.
Coat and hair covered with light frosty snow Kakashi knocked on the painted door. He brushed his shoulders and head with a gloved hand before the door was opened. Iruka's eyes were lightly puffed and reddish, but his presence was relaxed. They didn't change many words before Kakashi was seated on the wetland green sofa with a steaming cup of tea waiting on the small, wooden coffee table. The silence hang thick around them, making the moment even more awkward than it was already. The copy-nin had recognised the wisdom in Genma's words and had decided to do something about it. He knew he would regret it for the rest of his life if he let Otake take Iruka without a fight.
The problem was, Kakashi didn't know what to say. How he could convince Iruka? Without an actual plan, he had walked around the whole morning, trying to come up with a strategy or a convincing argument or at least an opening phrase. But too soon, he had found himself on the street where Iruka lived. Now, he was sitting next to the chuunin, whose cheeks were getting the familiar rosy tint. There was so much Kakashi wanted to say to him, but every word that came to his head sounded stupid.
“So...” Iruka said. “Eh, well, you wanted to talk...”
“Yeah, I... There's something I have to tell you.” Kakashi took a deep breath, his heart was palpating vigorously and his palms were sweating. He felt uneasy as he slowly pulled his hitai-ate off and his mask down. Hands brushed the moist skin around his mouth before dropping to his lap. Being without the mask and head protector made the copy-nin feel more naked than he would if he actually were without clothes.
“I'm lost without you.” Kakashi's mouth felt dry, he was afraid he was blushing. “I don't want to be without you.” The words were coming out more easily once he had opened his mouth. “Despite all the doubt and confusion I experienced at the beginning, I've never felt anything even remotely like this. The time I have spent with you have been the best of my life. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I know we have been lovers only a short time, but we have known each other a lot longer. I love you. And even if I don't have the money to buy you a house, you are the most important person in my life. I want to be with you for the rest of my life.”
“Kakashi, are you... is this a, hem, are you proposing?” Tears glistered in the corners of Iruka's eyes.
The copy-nin stared at the chuunin. One could almost hear the gears feverishly turning in the older man's head. It really sounded like a marriage proposal. To his amazement, Kakashi didn't feel even a hint of panic or dismay. Quite the opposite. Like having a sudden epiphany he thought, Why not? I would be privileged to spent my life with him.
“Yeah, I guess I am.” The jounin smiled a gentle smile. “I don't have much to offer, only myself... And I don't have a ring or anything, but what do you say?”
“It's quite sudden.” Iruka hesitated.
“Maybe, but I'm serious.” The grey haired jounin had set his mind.
“You don't have to do this.” Iruka wiped a tear gently trickling down his cheek. “I appreciate the gesture, and I get what you mean, but I already said no to Otake-san, so there's no need for you to...”
“Great!” Kakashi was glad that Otake wasn't an obstacle any longer, but he was starting to worry about Iruka's answer. “But this is real. This is me, confessing my love to you. I really want this, so what do you say?”
“I want to spent my life with you, as well.” The sweetest smile crossed Iruka's face, tears flooded his eyes spilling over and running down his cheeks forming hot, little streams. “But lets hold off on the wedding. Ask me again next year, or at summer.”
“I guess I can wait till summer.” Kakashi wound his arms around the trembling chuunin, kissing his ear, his cheek and his lips. He felt happy. Bursting into song happy. “This means that I can tell whom ever I want about us, doesn't it?” He asked nibbling on Iruka's neck.
“Yeah.” Iruka answered softly.
“You're mine. Only mine.” The jounin whispered into his lover's ear before taking the earlobe between his teeth and biting on it gently. His hand had sneaked under Iruka's shirt. The fingers had found the sensitive pearl-like nub that, when pinched, made Iruka let out wonderful little sounds. He wanted to claim the chuunin as his and his alone. Gods, how erect and horny he was. Kakashi's other hand thrust into Iruka's pants. Feeling the growing hardness, his breathing grew shallow and fragmental, his lips were hovering over Iruka's neck barely touching the smooth skin. Despite the lack of space for Kakashi's hand to move, the chuunin was responding beautifully; slick with precum the hard flesh slid easily in the jounin's gentle grip.
“Ah! Wait Kakashi, we need lube or...” Iruka said between gasps. “I have some in the bedroom drawer.”
Kakashi didn't have to be told twice. He picked the chuunin in his arms and carried him to the bedroom with unmatched speed.
After opening his vest and tossing it to hang over the back of a chair, the copy-nin pulled the long sleeved, dark blue shirt off and send it flying to the same direction as the vest. “Which one?”
“The second.” Iruka answered, he was unclothing himself almost as fast as Kakashi.
Kakashi pulled the second drawer open and his jaw dropped. A collection of handcuffs, anal plugs, and other sex toys were staring at him in all shapes and colours. Who would have thought? His eyes moved from pink plugs to blue anal beads and black vibrators, finally finding the clear tube of gel in the right front corner. The jounin swallowed hard. There would be time to explore all the possible usages of the content of the drawer, but that time wasn't now. He seized the lube and pushed the drawer closed as turning around. Iruka lay on the bed, naked. His tanned, firm, flat chest heaved as he breathed deep. His legs were slightly apart, his engorged length twitched as he spotted Kakashi's hungry gaze.
“Gosh, you're hot!” Kakashi took the rest of his clothes off quickly and launched himself on the bed next to the sexy chuunin.
Their lips collided in a fierce kiss. The air around them was filled with electric, burning, raw lust. Their bodies pressed tightly against each other, rubbing. Fingers touching, scratching, and petting. Iruka's hands were all over Kakashi's body, pulling him closer. Their hips thrust forwards in the same pace, their hardnesses grated against each other. The lube tube was giving the copy-nin hard time behind Iruka's back. His hands were shaking from the anticipation, and he was nearly ready to tear the damned tube in half. With a creak and click the flip top opened and gel poured over his fingers. It glided fast to his palm and dropped to the mattress. leaving only a moist trail behind. Kakashi cursed in his mind. Iruka was panting and moving titillatingly, his hand extended between them taking their erections and started to stroke them in a quick pace.
“Ah! Kakashi, hurry!” The chuunin sank his teeth on Kakashi's neck. The pain mixed delightfully with pleasure, making the battle with the tube that much harder.
Finally, his digits were holding a generous amount of stunningly slippery gel. He reached down and managed to find Iruka's puckered hole. This time, there was not a drop of hesitation as the jounin thrust his index finger into the passage.
“Oh gods! Yes!”
Kakashi pushed his finger couple of times before adding another one. Iruka's hand was working harder, massaging their rigid lengths together. The chuunin panted and pushed against Kakashi's fingers making them slide deeper. Pulsation in the copy-nin's groin got stronger and his abdomen tightened, his breathing came out in erratic gasps. His fingers pulled apart inside the tight hole stretching the opening.
“More!” Iruka's mouth closed over Kakashi's jugular and sucked feverishly.
Third finger joined the two in the tight grasp of Iruka's inner muscles, scissoring them proved nearly impossible. The chuunin shivered and swirled his hips. Suddenly his hand stopped moving and he pushed himself away from Kakashi. The jounin gave him a questioning look, but Iruka just smiled slyly before turning to his stomach and raising his hips up.
“Come, inside me.” His voice was thick with lust, so seductive it made Kakashi's mind go blank.
The chuunin lay his face down, his legs open and his hands on the buttocks, spreading himself for the copy-nin. Kakashi's mouth watered. Iruka was ready, with his hole gaping at the jounin, waiting for him to fill it. Kakashi's erection jolted. He spread a great amount of lube on his overtly hard erection, took a tight grip on Iruka's hip and guided the sensitive tip of his arousal to the awaiting opening. Not wanting to hurt the chuunin, Kakashi applied barely enough pressure for his length to start its slow slide into his lover. Iruka tensed slightly around him.
“Are you alright? Should I stop?” Kakashi's voice trembled, he wanted so much to continue.
“I'm alright. Hurry, I want to feel all of you inside me.” Iruka pleaded.
The jounin continued his slow penetration, but Iruka shoved his hips backwards making Kakashi slide all the way in.
“Damn you're tight.” Kakashi panted. He wanted to thrust with all his passion into the chuunin, but at the same time he wanted to give it to Iruka as gently as possible.
“Now, fuck me!” It came as a command and as a plead. Not that Kakashi would have a problem at being ordered in bed, especially if the ordering was done by Iruka.
The copy-nin took a deep breath before pulling nearly all the way out before ramming back in.
“Yes! Again!” Iruka moaned.
Kakashi was all too happy to comply. The silky, hot walls were contracting around his cock, speeding him towards the heaven on earth, the highest carnal pleasure there is; to reach fulfilment with the one you love. Sweat drops glistered on Iruka's honey coloured back, which arched with each thrust. Through the blissful haze clouding his mind, the jounin gathered he was doing something right. The chuunin was moaning incoherently, his whole body was shaking and convulsing in pleasure. Kakashi tightened his grip on Iruka's hips and slammed into the chuunin as forcefully as he could. The strong muscles clenched around him sucking him in hard. Kakashi could feel the sweet edge nearing like a storm front. Couple of more shaky thrusts, and the white hot ecstasy washed over him like a thunderstorm, drowning everything under its force.
The sweaty stickiness itched, but didn't get Kakashi to move. He buried his face in Iruka's free-flowing hair. It had a light, fresh scent of shampoo and moisture in it. His fingers glided gently along Iruka's side, feeling his ribs as they continued to caress the chuunin's chest. This is how it should always be. Iruka stirred slightly and turned to face the jounin. His eyes were a deep brown mystery that Kakashi would never grow tired trying to solve.
“You should take your mask and hitai-ate off more often.” Iruka ran a slim, soft finger along the scar over Kakashi's left eye and down his cheek. “You're handsome.”
Kakashi's lip curved a little. “I feel weird without them.” His smile widened as he noticed how keenly Iruka watched his lips move. “But for you, when we're alone, I can do it.”
