Sorry it took awhile but I had another story on hold...Now on with this chapter

The Past's Better Left Forgotten

The first time he was ever truly scared was when his parents were murdered.

He could still remember the day like it happened yesterday. It was a clear crisp morning with the birds chirping by the window, and the neighbor’s annoying dog barking at some innocent bystander.

Everyone was happily minding their own business, walking their dogs. Going for a morning jog or just sitting on the porch talking to their friends about the latest gossip.

It was a typical day on, Rain Star ST. Where nothing ever happened until you counted the news media and the ambulance surrounded by police cars. There silent sirens going off, flashing the red tinted lights in all directions. Creating a morbid of colors.

The neighbors had all crowded over to the large blue house with white trim and beautiful windows.

The lawn was always kept and green.

They even had a white little fence for their dog.

But the neighbors weren’t looking at that nor were they usually gossiping about the nice rich normal family. No they were gathered to witness a crime scene.

The police and detectives that were the finest in the town were walking all over the place.

Inside the home, out in the lawn and some even in the nicely kept back yard. All with sullen faces and nicely pressed suits.

They could see the unmistakable white sheets that had a body under them.

All being loaded carefully into the ambulance.

The police officers kindly but forcefully demanded that people leave or to get back on the other side of the yellow line.

Through all the hectic, there was one little boy. Who was sitting by one of the parked cars.

He was with someone that was talking to him gently, but the little boy really wasn’t listening to what was said. Instead he was staring off into the distant with a glazed look to his other wise dead eyes.

Seemingly lost in thought.

He had only talked once and remarked that he knew nothing.

They had spent over three hours in that house. Snooping around but the boy didn’t care. He had lost his family and the news media seemed to be eating it up. He seriously didn’t remember what had happened it had happened so quickly and now he was alone.

His mother and his father were dead and the boy’s brother was nowhere to be found.

Sasuke quickly shook his head, riding himself of his thoughts. He was currently on the couch, waiting in their living room. He hated too wait.

It was one of his defaults that he normally wouldn’t admit to anyone.

He watched as men and women were walking around cleaning up or tagging an area before moving on to the next task. All with the same sullen faces and nicely pressed suits. He tried to keep his face from showing anything even though inside was like a tidal wave of emotions. He wanted to know what happened and if Naruto was really all right.

He could still member how he panicked when he came upon their home. He was just getting off from work because of that stupid convention. He was walking down the sidewalk turning on the corner. He could all ready see the house up ahead, and just wanted to go to sleep as soon as he reached it.

He had gotten closer then stopped.

The neighbors were out of their houses walking around and talking, pointing with their dirty fingers. Sasuke narrowed his eyes looking around. It was about eleven or so. Why would they be…
Getting nervous Sasuke picked up his pace towards the house.

His heart sped up when he finally caught the destruction of the place. The window was shattered, spraying glass everywhere on the ground. The lights making it look like glittering snow.

The door, if you could call it a door anymore, was hanging by a hinge looking battered and splintered.

Sasuke gritted his teeth and ran the rest of the way. The only thing on his mind was if Naruto was okay or hurt or.

No he couldn’t go there, not now. Not when he had finally made peace with his past memories.
He barged through the front door only to stop dead in his tracks.

“Uchiha Sasuke?”

Sasuke snapped his head back up. He had been so lost in his thoughts that he hadn’t even seen this person walk up to him.

Sasuke merely nodded his head.

“Please come with me. Kakashi wants to talk with you.” The dark haired man said, before leading Sasuke through the wooden floored hall and into Naruto’s room.

All the while wondering what Kakashi, their next store neighbor had anything to do with this mess.

Sasuke spotted Naruto on the bed and Kakashi by the window, before he made his way towards the bed pulling up a chair silently. Wanting to reach out to the other, but internally afraid he would spook the blond into waking. Naruto was hunched in a fetal position and not moving.

The room looked like it had always been, except all the doors were open including the closet.

Naruto wasn’t going to like that, Sasuke thought vaguely.

Naruto himself looked fine if not a little shaky, other then that he looked peaceful while he slept. That’s when Sasuke finally noticed Shadow. The dog was by the bed in the corner with a blanket wrapped around him.

“Ok Sasuke, I had already talked with Naruto and he had explained what happened.” Kakashi started.

“Is Naruto all right. What happened?” Sasuke demanded.

He wanted to know what the hell was going on.

“Maa, it’s alright. Naruto is currently sleeping, and is fine. He’s just sleeping off the drug affects the doctor had given him. The dog is also ok just a broken leg.” Kakashi finished before turning around fully to face Sasuke.

His light mood seemingly disappearing.

Kakashi sighed before sitting down in another wooden chair by the bed.

“What I’m about to say doesn’t leave this room. Sasuke. Do you understand me." He said looking at Sasuke with a narrowed eye.

Nodding Sasuke let the man speak.

"Do you believe in the supernatural.” Kakashi said in an even tone.

Sasuke stared back; he was truly starting to believe that Naruto had a point.

This guy was crazy!

He didn’t know whither to laugh or punch him.

Kakashi stared back at the young man intently. He could see that Sasuke wasn’t the supernatural type by any means.

Sighing again, and not for the second time wondering why he was even doing this he started again.

“We are an organization that hunts secret cults you could say. There are many different cults throughout the World, and we try to stop certain groups.” Kakashi said getting out a black folder and handing it to Sasuke silently.

Sasuke took it with numb fingers and opened the folder to see a title called, 'Red Spiral'.

He flipped some other pages to see information about them and their victims. But nothing made scene, why give him this. When all he wanted to know who did this. Sasuke looked back up at Kakashi trying to see where this was all going.

“This particular group has been active as you have seen on the news. They use the red spiral as their calling card.” Kakashi then leaned in towards Sasuke. His voice like the grim reaper.

Sasuke put the folder down and watched the man carefully; he did not trust him at all.

“The reason why I had said if you were a believer in supernatural is because this group deals heavily with it and can control it better then most people. The fact that they can is because of their reincarnated souls…”

Kakashi was cut off when Sasuke slammed his fist down on the nightstand, rattling the pictures that were on it and waking up the dog.

“What is this shit!"

"You keep talking in riddles about some secret cult that uses magic?"

"Then you talk about souls.” Sasuke hissed.

Looking at Kakashi. He couldn’t believe he let this guy take care of Naruto.

“Now that you have calmed down a little.” Kakashi remarked getting up from the seat.

“I will continue. The reason why they were here is because of Naruto.” He finished calmly as he turned to look out the dark window.

“Why would some crazy cult come after Naruto?” Sasuke said having calmed down a little. But inside he wanted to jump up and down and rant till the cows came home. This was Naruto they were dealing with, not some stranger. Naruto had, had a ruff childhood and he did not need this.

“Well this is where it gets tricky, you see Naruto’s soul is a special case and holds some kind of power that the cult wants, or so we think.” Kakshi said.

Sasuke stared at the silver haired man silently for a moment. His dark eyes sweeping in everything around him, yet ignoring the strangers that were in the room all the same.

“What do you mean or so we think.” Sasuke said. He couldn’t believe that he was actually starting to think that this was a possibility. That magic and evil cults could really exist in this day and age.

“Well you see the group itself is a secret even to us. We don’t know what their main objective is but we do know it has something to do with Naruto.” Kakashi stopped there and looked Sasuke in the eyes.

“Do you believe in monsters.” He said lightly, switching the conversation abruptly.

Sasuke again tried not to stare hard at this lunatic, for that’s what he was acting like.

So he just shook his head not wanting to say anything else.

“Well this might shock you then because they’re real.” A voice echoed in the room.

Sasuke glanced at the figure that had just stepped into the door.

“Hey Kakashi what’s up.” Jiariya said walking over to the small group.

Sasuke just stared; there college principle was in this too?

Before Sasuke could talk however, Jiariya interrupted.

“I’m not talking about the boogie man or any other crap that Hollywood made up. I’m talking about ghosts, spirits, and vampires. And lucky us we get to hunt them down.” He finished smirking. His tall frame leaning towards the night table.

“Are you all mad. There are no such things.” Sasuke said still trying to ignore why their principle was at their house.

“I think we need a demonstration, Jiariay.” Kakashi said in a rather bored tone.

“Yeah, they never believe us.” Jiariya muttered.

Then he stood up straight, put his hand out, palm up.

Sasuke stared at it wondering what the old fool was going to do. Then his eyes widened on their own accord.

Blue flames engulfed Jiariya’s hand until the flames formed into a little spiral blue ball in his hands.

Sasuke could only stare; he had never seen anything like this.

It really was real, then that meant…

“Yes Sasuke it’s real and they will be back.” Jiariya said, vanishing the blue spiral ball. His once playful smile disappearing altogether.

“So they want Naruto’s soul?"

"And they can control magic. Okay I got that but what does that have to do with monsters.” Sasuke asked trying to regain his composer.

"They can summon the Spirits." A new vice joined in.

Turning with shiftiness Sasuke could only open his mouth before shutting it not wanting to look like an idiot. There standing by the door with a hard expression on her face was Tsunade, their other neighbor. Wait was everyone in this little scheme then.

"Ah the Old Hag has arrived." Jiariya shouted, even as he dodged a beat up shoe to the head.

"Don't call me that." She shouted back before regaining her composure once again.

"Now as I was saying, that snake and his marry little band can summon up Spirit's long past this World. We don't know how they got their grubby little hands on this book but they did. They can summon up power to be transferred to their own bodies or create a hellish hound from the deepest pits of hell." She finished as Kakashi picked up from where she stopped.

"What we do know for certain is that each and every member will have either a spiral or graphics on their body. And that they have been killing constantly." Kakashi said, in his laid back voice.

It was Jiariya who had stepped up next, much to Sasuke's surprise.

"We believe they are collecting as many souls as possible."

Upon seeing Sasuke's confused face, he went on.

"Every person had a soul and when that individual passes on the soul will be judged. But with that cursed book they can actually steel and store the souls. Creating chaos for the World and afterlife. A trapped soul can be easily extinguished if you have no idea what you are doing. But if handled properly they can give a individual immortality, or summon a beast so great the Earth would shatter. Driving all lifeforms from this plane." He finished.

"But." Sasuke said before his voice gave out. Clearing it once more he rephrased his question.

"What do they want. How did they get this book. And how do they know all this in the first place." Sasuke said. Each question coming from his mouth with greater strength. Getting his nerves all worked up again.

“That is for another time, right now I think Naruto’s waking up.” Kakashi said sitting back down.

Jiariya just decided to stand along with Tsunade. all looking at the sleeping blond patiently.

Sasuke on the other hand watched Naruto stir with tensed muscles throughout his back.

Trying to see if his Dobe was hurt.

Blue eyes opened and slowly looked around, before they snapped wide open.

“Hey what’s the pervert and the Old Hag doing in our house?” Naruto asked.

Sasuke’s lips twitched, that was Naruto all right.
