AN: Lots of talking.
Sakura cringed at the matching expectation reflected in each set of eyes.
Blue, White, Blue, and Brown.
There was a downside to everything. Having girlfriends was no exception.
How could she have let herself get into this position?
Oh Yeah…
Someone was nuzzling into her chest. Someone with downy soft…she opened her eyes a crack…orange hair. It was tickling her nose.
“Naruto…?”
“MmmHmm.” He hummed against her.
“Get off!” Sakura moved to push him away only to find herself restrained by a set of arms wrapped tightly around her waist. Hot breath puffed across her shoulder and she shivered. “Sasuke damnit. Two to one isn’t fair.”
“Where is the fun in fair?”
Naruto chuckled and froze her struggles with a strategic lick. Goosebumps rose on her skin and she sucked in her breath with a hiss. Sakura could sense their smiles, the way they practically radiated masculine pride. Pricks, the both of them. Arrogant fucking pricks.
A brush from Sasuke’s finger tips and she was drawn in for a kiss that stopped all her early morning resentment.
They were horrible, terrible, bastards, but…damn they could kiss.
Sakura broke away and twisted further to gain access to Sasuke’s smooth neck. With the first touch of her quick tongue he growled and pushed her away forcing her into Naruto’s waiting lips.
“You won’t make me lose control that easily.”
Sakura didn’t respond Naruto was making it an impossibility, holding her lower lip hostage between his teeth.
Frustration at not being able to reciprocate their touch built up inside her.
“Let me move…Please?” Much to her embarrassment her voice was breathy and pleading. Pathetic.
Naruto smiled before kissing her nose and easing Sasuke’s arms from around her.
Free at last. Still sandwiched between them, she wriggled around until she was facing Sasuke.
He was looking down at her silent, waiting. She took his hand and placed it against her cheek, getting a feel for the rough calluses that covered them. Her other hand rose to trace the pale plains of his face. His fathomless eyes darkened in response, drawing her further into their depths. The faintest tremor shook his body.
Naruto’s hands caressed her back with just enough pressure to close the gap between her and Sasuke’s body. Sakura had forgotten how good it felt just to touch and be touched by another person. To derive comfort from being close to someone. Intimate.
It had been so very long. She needed this. Wedging an arm under the surprising heavy body in front of her she pulled herself as tight against Sasuke as possible. The solid line that came to rest at her back told her Naruto joined their embrace.
Sakura felt the steady rhythm of their heartbeats match her own. Something warm began in her chest and slowly spread outward until all the tension in her melted away. Sakrua allowed herself to truly and completely relax for the first time in…ever. Nothing else mattered except for the warmth and safety surrounding her.
“What the fuck is going on?” The precious moment shattered. Sakura stiffened and she peeked over one of the boys to find a clearly hostile Ino, her hands on her hips, foot tapping impatiently.
“I don’t remember giving you permission to enter these chambers Ino.” Sasuke’s voice was empty enough to send a chill through the woman snuggled into his side, instantly his anger was harnessed and he gave Sakura a reassuring pat before moving away and off the bed. Naruto jerked the sheet free and wrapped it around her.
“I don’t remember Sakura ever giving you permission to molest her when you locked her into this room last night. Don’t try to deny it, I saw Naruto turn the key and up the heat.”
Sakura’s attention snapped from the blond in front of her to the one curled next to her stroking her hair. He looked startled before it faded into somewhat apologetic and then shrugging the whole thing off with a grin.
“Stupid dobe probably thought it would be a good way to get her clothes off. What a totally idiot.” Sasuke mumbled darkly as he pulled on a pair of pants.
“Hey it WAS a good idea to get her clothes off. And I don’t remember either of you complaining last night.” Naruto huffed defensively flipping onto his back and stretching his hands behind his head. He was very naked.
One of Ino’s well groomed eyebrows twitched, her lips pressed tightly together in either mirth or constipation. “Yes, well. Sakura I expect you dressed and downstairs in fifteen minutes for breakfast, us girls are going out.” Sakrua frowned and opened her mouth but Ino cut her off, “If I were you I’d hop to it, you really don’t want to give me a reason to come back up here.” The other woman turned on her heel and walked out the open door not bothering to close it behind her.
All three remaining occupants were silent. Naruto scratched his stomach. Sakura clutched at the sheet until her knuckles were white. And Sasuke stared at the closed door.
“I’d better get up and ready before Ino’s allotted time runs out and she feels the need to come back. Having her ketch me naked with the two of you once is bad enough.” Sakura said coming back to reality. Naruto smirked and scooted over so he pinned a corner of her sheet to the bed. Sakura scowled at his playfulness ans stomped to the bathroom without it. Pausing in the doorway, “Don’t even think about following me in here, Naruto.”
Feigning hurt Naruto’s smirk deflated, “Me? What about the bastard?”
Sakura slammed the door shut.
Breakfast had been uneventful. Sakura didn’t notice the way Temari. TenTen and Hinata seemed surprised by Ino’s declaration of a Spa day. Nor their hushed whispers followed by worried glances. Stupid Stupid Stupid. How was she supposed to know that not all kindly propositioned days of relaxation with the girls were what they seemed? Hidden agenda’s were such a bitch.
So here she found herself, feet soaking in warm oiled water so their soles could be shluffed off and her toes painted sipping ice tea and diet coke and feeling very very uncomfortable.
"So I assumed by the way I found you all cuddled up this morning things got hot and heavy when the boys came home last night, yes?"
"Ahhhhhh..." Embarrassment overload, brain shutting down.
"Did you have sex with Sasuke and Naruto?" Hinata asked gently. Sakura felt her resolve to tell them nothing weakening.
"Of course she did. We all noticed the way she been limping around, a telltale sign she got fucked pretty hard." Ino winked at a horrified Sakura.
"So Tweedle Dumb and Dumber got a little rough did they?" Tenten giggled. "Neji can get pretty riled up when we're going at it too. Course he dishes out just as much as he's served. Thank god for equal opportunity sex."
"Naruto was fluttering all over you at breakfast. Sasuke even looked a bit... smug." Temari remained unreadable.
"That’s enough," Sakura's face was flushed with anger. "Fine, we slept together." Grinding her teeth, she growled out an answer to the leading statements of her friends.
"I doubt there was much sleeping going on."
A frightening smile spread across the pink-haired woman’s face. "You are quite right Ino there was very little sleeping, mostly licking biting, and fucking."
"Ummm, sounds good. Maybe I should look into getting another man, since pairs come so highly recommended." Ino turned to the other blond at the table. "Hey Temari, you think your brother Gaara would hop on the band wagon and into the sheets with Shika and me?"
"No."
"Oh well.” She sighed with dramatization. “Gaara is a total party pooper."
"I'm sure Lee would be willing to make your fantasies of a threesome come true. His youthful exuberance will no doubt set you your bed aflame with passion."
"Ha ha. Very funny."
"Having two men is a lot of work." Hinata was looking at the floor and blushing.
"Sakura you're not getting out of this without telling us something. You're the first girl we know of that has been with them...either of them."
"What?! They were hardly virgins."
"Of course there were others but you are the first they brought...home. And I've never heard of them taking someone together."
Sakura's mind whirled. This lent a whole new level of significance to the events of last night, one that she wasn't quite prepared to rationalize at the moment. She needed a distraction. Quick think of something!

"Fine. What do you want to know?" Ooooo, bad choice.
"Who was bigger?"
"Who was better?"
"How did you all fit together?"
“Was it like being with a two headed quadropod?”
"Who took you first?"
"Were the lights on?"
Sakura quickly held up a hand to quite them. "Wow. I can see that a question and answer session is the wrong way to go about this. Let me think for a moment."
In those drawn out moments of silence while they waited, Sakura had never felt the sensation of being watched with such intensity. It made her nervous.
"They were... adequate."
Four mouths dropped.
"Adequate?" The voice was shaky. It didn't matter who said it they were all thinking it.
"They were very...synchronized?"
Ino snorted and burst out laughing. "Just wait till they hear what words of praise their performance inspired. It’s enough to make any man proud."
"That's hardly a flattering image you've painted for us Sakura." Tenten tried unsuccessfully to repress the humor in her voice.
"What she means is that they were lovely, right Sakura." Hinata offered helpfully.
"Lovely? Oh yes. They were...it was...amazingly, beautifully, orgasmically lovely."
"Good." Ino smiled but it looked stained.
"What?"
"It’s nothing."
Sakura gave her a flat look. "Spill."
"Its just that those boys are so single minded when it comes to something they want. They don't care how their goal is achieved as long as it is, especially Sasuke. We just want to make sure that this is what you really want. That being with those two emotionally stunted freaks is what will make you happy."
Sakura's heart melted. They were worried about her? When was the last time any one had genuinely been worried about her? The bond of sisterhood she felt with these four women suddenly became unbearable strong. Telling them about her fledgling relationship with Sasuke and Naruto no longer felt like an obligation. Having people to share this kind of information with was a privilege something she had never experienced before. It was wonderful.
"I..." She didn't quite know what to say.
"Wait." Sakura was surprised to find it was Temari. "Do you know how I became a member of Spiral?"
"No"
Temari closed her eyes as if to ward off some painful memory. "My brothers and I were members of Black Leaf. I though that being a part of an influential gang would offer me protection form the streets. And it did but it didn't offer any from the inside." She paused for a deep breath.
"I was so cocky, lording my status as a part of the untouchable Black Leaf. I thought we were better then everyone else." Temari's voice broke off, but there were no tears falling down her cheeks, no sorrow deep within her eyes, they were just hollow, as though she were no longer whole. And perhaps she wasn't.
"Kankuro was my best friend, the person I trusted above all others. He convinced me to come to his bed. And Itachi allowed it. They all did." Sakura thoughts flashed to Kakashi and she shivered. Would she have allowed it, if it meant staying under cover? "I admit I went willingly with him at first but he wasn't gentle or soft and he didn't stop."
Temari's voice went cold and Sakura could see some of the tightly controlled rage and pain seeping through the cracks. "He raped me so many times but I never tried to stop him, never went to anyone for help. it was months before Gaara found out what was happening but when he did he took me and we joined Spiral. So please understand what it means to me to ask you this, and what it means for you to answer truthfully. Are you sure that being with Naruto and Sasuke is what you want? It doesn't make you weak for giving in to them and no one here would blame you, powerful men are hard to resist. No is not always an option."
Watery green eyes seemed to be all that Sakura had to offer, the words of comfort she wished to say stuck in her throat, the hug she wanted to wrap the older woman in aborted. Nothing could take the pain of had happened to Temari away.
But she’d be damned if she’d let her continue suffering after the bravery and trust she had shown. Sakura reached over and took Temari’s hand. A gentle squeeze let her know that her support was welcome.
“And don’t think that you are obligated to sleep with them because you joined Spiral. They would never require that.” Hinata said softly. “Neji and I are Hyuugas, second only to the Uchihas in wealth and influence before Orochimaru. My father gave me to Itachi to deal a bargain between our families. And I went to fulfill my duty and uphold our honor b-but it hurt me, nearly b-broke me.” She seemed to be forcing herself to continue.
“Hinata…” Sakura wanted to tell her to stop, that such painful memories needn’t be unearthed for her sake. But the small fragile looking girl collected herself and pushed forward.
“I only spent one night with Itachi.” All the blood drained from her face. “It was aweful…and w-wonderful. It makes me sick to remember.”
It was too much. The tears just didn’t seem to stop.
"I feel so stupid. Crying here and..." Sakura roughly whipped her eyes and sniffed. "That’s enough weakness. I wish I were stronger, like you."
"Its nice to know someone cares enough to cry for me, don't be ashamed of your humanity. It is something to treasure." Hinata was smiling softly.
"There is much darkness in many pasts but it makes my burden a little lighter to share it with you." Temari gave her hand one more pat before releasing it.
Looking at each of them in turn, Sakura opened her mouth. "I promise you all that any act I committed with Naruto and Sasuke last night was completely consensual. Thank you for your concern."
"Well that was depressing." Ino broke the silence. "How about you tell us about this crazy monkey sex you had."
The rest of the day was fairly normal and quite enjoyable. They passed the time getting pampered and showering Sakura with lighter stories of their history. Often including humorous anecdotes of Naruto or Sasuke.
Ino and Tenten had become friends when they teamed up to overthrow their pimp. Gaara was secretly pursuing Lee, without much success. Neji used three different conditioners on his hair. Sasuke had a rabid fanclub, and she should be on the look out for assassination attempts now that she was "his girl." There seemed to be countless bits of information divulged.
Sadly their time together came to an end. The girls arrived home late in the afternoon considerably poorer (after an impromptu shopping excursion) and closer then they had left. A sharing of such deep caliber always initiates such a bond.
Guilt is a terrible thing, and Sakura was feeling it in spades. Why did they have to treat her so nicely? Better then anyone she could remember? It was almost a relief to know that she could escape their gentle gestures of kindness when they got back.
When the house came into view there was a surprise waiting for them on the steps. Surly impatient men. No sooner had they stepped out of the car when they were pounced upon.
"You were gone all day." Naruto pouted, hugging Sakura's arm to his chest and rubbing his cheek against her shoulder. "I missed you."
Sasuke looked her up and down. "You didn't tell us where you were going."
"I didn't know." Ebony eyes turned to glance over the other women coming to rest upon Ino.
"Don't look at my like that Mister High and Mighty. It was none of your business." Sasuke raised an eyebrow and Shika hauled the squirming woman inside. "I'll see you girls later." She managed to get out before the door closed behind them.
"I am most disappointed in you lack of judgment, Tenten. We are in the middle of a war and you girls are the perfect targets."
The tall brunet poked her boyfriend fiercely in the chest, "I don't want to hear it. Sometimes you guys can get all stuffy and over protective. Nothing happened and we needed to have some girl time. So lighten up." She walked past his almost startled figure. Pausing a moment to look back him, "Are you coming?"
Neji followed her.
Shino picked bridal-style Hinata up and carried her into the house with Kiba and Akamaru whining at their heels.
Chouji just looked at Temari. She smiled at him. He reached out his hand and she took it. They walked together into the house. "Remember what I said Sakura. We are here for you whatever you choose."
Lee looked about ready to launch into a lengthy triad of embracing the fires of youth when Gaara discretely lashed out knocking him unconscious. The red-headed goth slung the other man over his shoulder and gave them a head nod disappearing into the house.
"What were you doing?" Sasuke asked.
Sakura lips curled into a smile. "That...is a secret." She tweaked his nose and Naruto laughed.
"Hnph"
"We better get going Sakura-chan."
"But I just got back"
"And you have made us late." Sasuke began to make his way around the side of the house. Keeping her arm prisoner Naruto forced her to follow.
"We're going on a date!"
"A date?"
"Yeah. The bastard and I are taking you out. It will be fun."
Sakura hoped they would mistake her grimace for a smile and that this date thing would be less awkward then she imagined it.
Date Problem Number One: She was still wearing her frumpy spa clothes, soaked with the lotion that had been rubbed into her body. "Wait just let me run in and change into something date-like."
"No."
"What?"
"Don't worry we picked out a dress for you." Solution Found? Sakura was far from reassured.
Date Problem Number Two: Transportation. The only vehicle she had seen them drive were motorcycles. Who did she ride with? And even if they took a car who was going to be stuck driving? She shouldn't have worried.
A sleek looking limousine pulled up, the driver who matched the monochrome of the car in a tailored black suit, stepped forward to open the door for them. Solution Found.
"Get in." Sasuke gave her a little push and she fell into the luxurious interior that sank beneath her hands.
When they were all situated inside and moving Naruto handed her a large green box covered in ribbon.
Her outfit.
The lid lifted to reveal... pink. Fluorescently neon pink, complete with sequence. Oh Dear God, no. Sakura gulped back her anguish at the mass of taffeta and netting in front of her. No no no.
"Do you like it? Put it on, put it on. It took us forever to find something we agreed on." She looked over at them, Naruto exuding hopeful excitement and Sasuke staring intently at her.
"And you agreed on...this?" Finally freeing it from the box she beheld the monstrosity in all its glory. It was one of those amazingly over the top eighties prom dresses, with full puff sleeves that caused the wearer's arms to drowned in fabric while everything else was wrapped up tight. "Wow, it sure is something." Desperately searching for anything positive. Maybe it was a joke? Please please please let it be a joke.
"It is very...pink."
"Yeah just like your hair." Naruto sounded proud.
"You truly are an idiot if you are just now making such an observation, dobe."
Naruto shrugged for once letting the verbal barb go unanswered. They turned to look at her and their equally intense scrutiny said the same thing, put it on.
Date Problem Number Three: How to get out of wearing hideous gift from new boyfriends on first date?
No Solution Found. Sakura felt sick to her stomach as she changed.
It wasn't soooo bad. The sleeves turned out to be detachable and the sequence was strangely flattering. Totally not something that she would have picked out for herself but still, it was something she could live with wearing...for tonight.
They all tumbled out from the back of the limousine when it stopped. Naruto's face was glowing with happiness and appreciation. He was wearing a black jacket and pants with a light orange dress shirt and a darker orange tie. Hmmm A little too Halloween for her tastes but it was definitely Naruto down to the out of place orange sneakers the cuff of his pants couldn't hide. Sasuke was smiling. Not a normal smile for a normal person but the closest thing to a smile she had ever seen on him. It was a little unsettling. The sardonic humor in his eyes when he looked her up and down proved her theory that Naruto had been the one to pick out her ridiculous outfit. He was dressed all in black. Surprise surprise. But his Mandarin style jacket had platinum buttons.
They looked good and they were all hers. Sakura suddenly didn't care what she was wearing, didn't care that every woman that saw her tonight would be thinking she had no style what-so-ever because once those women saw the men she was with they would mentally shut the hell up and probably buy something in a similar style.
Sasuke and Naruto offered her their arms. Linked together they entered the building.
It was a high end restaurant. Beautifully decorated in red and gold with enough candles to create romantic ambience at a six year old's birthday. They were taken to their table immediately, it was a booth. For the second time on this date Sakura found herself sliding across soft black leather. At least the menu wasn't in a foreign language. Deep down Sakura was a hamburger and milkshake kind of girl, fancy food always got on her nerves with its clash of exotic flavors. Simple and delicious out weighed extravagant and overpriced but once and a while was ok.
Sasuke ordered wine for himself and Sakura. Naruto ordered a Budweiser. The waiter didn't even blink; he just nodded and was gone with a promise to return soon with their drinks. And he did.
The three of them sat in comfortable silence sipping their alcohol and glancing over the menu.
"This is nice." Sakura let out.
"It was the dobe's idea."
"The bastard picked out the restaurant."
"It’s certainly impressive." Sasuke looked over his menu at her a moment.
"Hnn."
"Are you ready to order?" The waiter appeared again.
"Are you ready to order?" The waiter appeared again.
The evening was going great. Spending time with them together doing things other then sex wasn't as terrifyingly awful as she had expected. Naruto and Sasuke got along rather well once you over looked the cutting remarks they through back and forth between them. Sakura could tell that whatever connected the two was something unbreakable. Individually there was no way she would have dated either one of them…probably. They complemented each other so well, balancing out their extreme personalities. Naruto's bubbling enthusiasm took the edge off Sasuke's cool reserve. And Sasuke's practical mind seemed to keep Naruto's unharnessed exuberance in check. They worked as a team extracting details of her childhood, there were several times she had to stop herself from spilling the beans that she was a cop. But apart form that small omission she told them more about herself then anyone before. It was both frightening and exciting.
It was when she excused herself to use the bathroom between courses that things went downhill.
Sakura walked into the woman's bathroom only to find Anko and Shizune reapplying their make-up. FUCK!
A sick smile crept across Anko's powdered face. "Well well well, what do we have here? Nice dress cupcake, you look like a glitter frosted whore."
Sakura turned up her nose and ignored them as she made her way to a stall. Waiting until she heard the door open and close before she came back out. Releasing a heavy breath of relief when she found that they were really gone. Washing her hands, she quickly left contemplating on her good luck.
Sakura froze in the doorway. Fuck her God Damn Luck. Leaning across the hall obviously waiting for her were Itachi and Kakashi. Shit shit shit.
"Hello again, pretty girl." Kakashi smiled at her. It was almost reassuring. Yeah, about as reassuring as a smile a lion would give to a gazelle before pouncing. Eeeek.
Green eyes slid to the other man. Itachi was carefully watching Kakashi with an unreadable expression. An act. Kakashi was acting...hopefully.
"We have come to escort you back to your table, Haruno-san." Itachi held out his hand. Resigned to her fate, Sakura was proud to put a dry steady hand in his.
He led her to where Naruto and Sasuke sat waiting for her. Just like he said he would.
”You should be more careful where you leave your toys little brother. They could get stolen...or broken." The pressure around her hand increased with his grip. Sakura bit her lip to keep from whimpering.
"Let her go, Itachi." Sasuke was a block of ice, she could almost see the frost on his words.
Kakashi stepped forwards pressing himself into Sakura's back. Lifting a hand to take a lock of her hair between his fingers. "So soft," he purred.
Sakura extracted her hand from Itachi's hold to grasp Kakashi's wrist. "Let go." His visible eye creased in amusement before moving away towards Itachi letting her hair slip from his caress. Sakura slid in next to Naruto, curling into his side. He put a warm arm around her, like a security blanket.
Sasuke glanced over at them before returning his full attention on the two men still standing at their table. "You will not touch her again."
"Emotions are a weakness, Sasuke. Having her is a weakness." Itachi turned and left.
Kakashi blew her a kiss and winked as he followed his leader. Sakura shuddered and began to tremble. Naruto pulled her into his lap.
"I'm sorry. Anko and Shizune were in the bathroom and when I came out Itachi and Kakashi were waiting for me." Naruto burrowed his face in her hair.
"There is no need to apologize. I believe the mystery of why women never go to the bathroom alone has finally been solved." Sakura giggled half-heartedly, twisting so she could hug him. She wanted to cry, her body was shaking. Touching Itachi had been frightening. She could still feel his power pulsing beneath his skin, humming across her own.
Snuggling closer to Naruto's warmth, "That man is one spooky mother fucker."
"Are you ok?" Sasuke's voice drew her attention.
"I think so I just need a minute...I can still feel him." Sasuke took her hand in his own. "Can we go home?"
"Of course we can Sakura-chan. I think even the bastard is ready to call it a night." Sasuke rolled his eyes and they left.
Naruto insisted on carrying her through the restaurant to the limousine while Sasuke had a few words with the manager about privacy and protection.
"Do you mind if went to one more place before returning home?" Sasuke asked when they had piled into the car.
Sakura felt much better tucked between them moving further and further from the place of her encounter so she nodded. "Sure."
"Thatta girl, Sakura-chan." Naruto gave her shoulder an affectionate squeeze.
Sasuke's destination was an abandoned building on the top of a hill overlooking the entire city. It was beautiful and ...romantic. Not something she identified in Sasuke so she waited for his explanation.
He was silent for a long time standing beside her as she remained in the comfort of Naruto's arms.
"This is where I grew up."
"It is beautiful."
Sasuke looked down, his hair falling to hide his face. His body tensed. "It was."
Pausing for a moment, Sakura decided to press him on this. "What happened?"
"Betrayal" he whispered but she could hear the pure emotion behind that one word. Naruto hugged her tighter. "Itachi betrayed us all. Killed us all. That man destroyed everything." Sasuke looked up at the twinkling lights below. "Itachi was my older brother and the heir to the Uchiha Family. Our family was one of several crime families that came together to oppose Orochimaru and his Pythons. His power had grown so strong no one could stand against him on their own. His influence was constricting around the city, squeezing the life out of it. Itachi was supposed to be our savior. He was a prodigy, elected by a coalition of several families, including the Huuyga’s, to lead the offensive. Itachi built an army and we let him. I was sent out on my first solo mission the night of the massacre. I was supposed to track down and kill a particularly troublesome rebel. Naruto Uzumaki."
Naruto chuckled. "As you can see that mission was a complete success."
"Don't pretend you had the upper hand, dobe." Sasuke snapped. "I had you down for the count..."
"Oh that's a lie bastard. Tell her the truth."
"Fine. I had dislocated both his shoulders, broken seven of his fingers, four ribs and one of his legs."
"But who had more chakra left over? Huh? That's right I did. I..."
"Shut up Naruto, I want to hear the rest of the story."
"Ahhh come on Sakura-chan."
"Hush"
"So the dobe is pretty beat up and he starts babbling about Itachi having recruited him. Itachi had taken Naruto under his wing and assigned him the task of keeping the other clan's attention from what he was doing behind out backs, the plans he was making against us. Naruto tried to tell me the truth about Itachi. I didn't believe him. I didn't want to believe him. But I decided to take him in for interrogation all the same and we made our way back here." Sasuke closed his eyes. "But it was too late...everyone was dead and the house was burning. Naruto managed to drag us away form the flames. He saved my life. We formed Spiral that night and I vowed revenge against Itachi. And now the bastard finally realizes we are a threat. We finally have a chance. And you come along. Horrible timing. Having you around makes things so much more complicated then they should be."
Sakura wasn't angry at what Sasuke said. She could see under the underneath. He had lost everything, everyone who had ever meant anything to him. And now that he was on the verge of closure his feelings for her made him vulnerable again. Detangling herself from Naruto she walked over to him. He was so cold, so hurt, so sad, so incredibly hard but he had been so gentle with her last night and his pain went to so deep. Sakura wrapped her arms around his stiff body pressing as close as she could. Sasuke didn't embrace her back but he stroked her hair tenderly as she cried his tears for him.
When she had finished she whipped the residue of tears from her cheeks and sniffed hard. Reaching out a hand for Naruto she brought him to her, "And just how did you get mixed up with Itachi in the firsts place?"
"I'm an orphan. Orochimaru killed my father Yondame during his take over of the city before I was even born. Never knew who my mother was. The orphanage I was placed in kicked me out because I was such a troublemaker. I was around twelve when Akatsuki picked my up; it was there I got my first taste of organized crime. They were a group that facilitated Illegal Street fighting and gambling. I became a prizefighter. Itachi recognized me as my father's son. He got me out of the blood pits. He told me I had potential. But when I found out what he was really planning, I didn't agree with it. Such low-handed tricks are no way to win. No sense of honor. When I found out that the bastard attacking me was Uchiha Sasuke I told him what his brother was up too. After betraying Itachi I never looked back and Sasuke and I joined forces to take him down." He smiled at her. A bittersweet smile. There was a tug on her heart. He was so casual in how he addressed his haunted past.
These two men had been through so much already. They had suffered so greatly. Everyone in Spiral had. And they had shared that suffering with her. Sakura had never felt more honored or more awful.
Here they were baring their darkest secrets and she was hiding behind all her lies.
"Sakura-chan are you ok?" She turned her back on them so they wouldn't see her new set of tears. Damn she was crying a lot tonight. "We understand that in the light of this new information you might what to rethink your commitment to us..."
"Shut up."
"Sakura-chan?"
"You really think that any of that shit makes a difference to me? How could you think that about me? She looked over her shoulder and saw their faces. It was plain as day, it had mattered somewhere along the way, someone had pushed them away after they had told them. Sakura wished she knew who it had been so she could disembowel them with the rustiest of her knives..
A light bulb went off in her head. Would accepting them now only make it harder for them in the future? What would happen when her own betrayal became apparent? Would they think her acceptance of them, their relationship with them was all fake? Sakura's heart sank as the true magnitude of what getting involved with Naruto and Sasuke really meant. But as awful as it might be she couldn't make herself break it off with them. The night air was suddenly stale in her mouth. They soft glow of the city blurred with her unshed tears.
"Take me home."
It was a quite ride.
