Part Two
Moving Onward
The neighborhood was surprisingly silent, with the morning lights shining through the disappearing darkness of the night. The occasional barking dog was really the only sound. In the neighborhood itself there were some houses that had beautiful lawns to show off, while others had flower gardens with wild roses blooming everywhere.
Some lawns even had small trees while others had cars parked in mini driveways. The only difference for the small neighborhood was a small sign right in front of a two story home, with white and blue trimming. The sign simple read “for sale.” On the bottom of that it had said “Sold.”
Right beside the sign was a huge moving van that already looked like it had some personal values in it, just ready to be moved to some far off distant place. Across the street was a black Sedan with two people in the car watching the blue house. One sat all the way back into the seat eating a hamburger, while the other occupant was reading a little orange book and occasionally giggling.
“Tell me why we have to be here again Kakashi.” Said the man that was currently longing into the seat and looking quite bored. He had short black hair that seemed to be sticking up every which direction. He turned his head to see Kakshi, half of his face hidden away like always.
“Ma shut up and keep watch. You don’t know when they could appear again.” Said Kakashi, turning a page from the book again. Yes it was indeed a boring night just like last week and the week before that. But they had to be alert and keep watch over the blue house to see if there was anything unnatural going on.
The house itself didn’t look that special, just a clean lawn with a new paint of blue coat for the house’s exterior. Inside the house past dead bolts for the front door was a long wooden hallway. The lights were all on and boxes upon boxes were stacked by the seaming less bare walls.
Past the hallway was a semi bare living room with a TV set and a couch, everything else was gone. Music could be heard throughout the house, along with scampering of paws padding there way through boxes. The kitchen was practically deserted. No utensils could be seen anywhere and the plates were gone along with the pots and pans. Only two raman cups remained on the counter. If a person didn’t know any better they would have thought the people who lived here were gone. Passing a stair way into another smaller hall led to two rooms. Both doors were open and looked quite bare. The only remaining furniture that was there was a bed and some comforters. Everything was quite natural...
“Sasuke teme Help me with this. I want to go in an hour.” A loud voice yelled from up stairs.
The figure sighed and dropped a heavy box, before turning around. Endless blue eyes peered out through the semi darkness in the early morning. Grunting in frustration again a tanned hand went through blonde hair. Naruto had called Sasuke two times and still the Teme wasn’t answering. He hated the up stairs and yet here he was up stairs, caring heavy boxes down the stairs and into the moving van. While Sasuke was somewhere else, probably hiding from the work load, bastard.
Naruto picked up another smaller box and set the smaller one on a bigger box. He then proceeded to lift the two up before carefully maneuvering around other boxes and small tables in the hallway before making it to the stairs.
Now was the tricky part, Naruto peered down the steep slop before taking a small step down then and another. Ok so far so good. He had not dropped a box or had fallen yet. Shifting the boxes a little better he made the rest of the way down without incident. Smiling smugly the blonde walked through the wooden floors of the hallway towards the front door.
After opening the door with no ones help, Naruto proceeded to load the boxes in the van. He turned to look next door where he could still see some windows bared up with wood. It was actually funny to find out that the next door neighbor Kakashi was from some secret organization trying to help Naruto. When Naruto had thought that Kakashi was some perverted killer, well a killer anyway.
A hand suddenly descended on Naruto’s shoulder making him jump before turning around, a fist already half way through the air.
A dark haired young man snatched the fist, before smirking and drawing the same hand up to Naruto’s face smacking him lightly calling him Dobe.
Naruto yelled and held up his abused cheek, “Sasuke you asshole. What was that for.” Naruto glared at Sasuke getting ready to go through the whole charade when another loud voice interrupted the two.
“Uzumaki shut up right now you damn brat.” Naruto turned his head to see Tsunade walking over to them. “Jeez even if your leaving today you have to be loud and implosive from the very end.” Tsunade muttered.
“You damn old ha.” Naruto was saying before he got cut off in the form of an elbow. Naruto shot Sasuke one last glare before tuning into old Tsunade again to see what she was going on about.
“...So your almost done, will you be returning.” Tsunade was saying. Naruto inwardly sighed, if he had a choice it would definitely be a no. He didn’t want to be anywhere near this house or this city.
“Oi brat listen up you better come say hi to me and I might come visit you, oh and here I have no use for it but I think you will.” With that said Tsunade handed Naruto a small bag.
Puzzled Naruto and Sasuke looked inside. Sasuke’s face paled while Naruto’s smile was almost cracking at the seams.
“Free raman coupons.” He shouted dancing around before heading back into the house to get the rest of the boxes.
Sasuke just slipped his hands into his pockets, dreading a whole week of raman and nothing else. Oh joy, he thought turning around to help the Dope. He stopped short when it seemed Tsunade wanted to say something else.
“Sasuke you take care of Naruto and yourself and watch out for you know who. The pervert Kakashi and the rest cannot always watch your backs.” Tsunade warned.
“Hn, I know but they are the ones that had given us a new home after the incident with Naruto. I will not relay on anyone else expect myself.” Sasuke said before turning fully.
Tsunade shock her head before she to turned back to her house. Hoping that everything would be ok for them.
Two hours later Naruto and Sasuke were done. All they had to do was lock the front door to finalize the transaction.
Naruto held the keys in his hand looking at the house. He really did like this house but it just held to many bad memories now, plus it wasn’t safe anymore.
This place was were Sasuke and him had first gotten together, it wasn’t official in words but the body language could say it all, they were together.
He could still remember when his friends had come over and helped pack up the boxes and move the furniture. They even spent the night just staying up telling old stories and getting drunk. Kakashi had even come over a little bit.
Now his friends were at home, work or college. They had wanted to see them off but Naruto and Sasuke had wanted to leave early. They would be seeing each other again just not as much. As for College Naruto had past his two years and was looking into another College maybe.
“Oi Naruto lets go, we have to beat the traffic.” Sasuke shouted through the cars window.
Nodding Naruto slipped in the key and locked the door. He really would miss this place. It was the first thing that he really had gotten on his own, now he would be venturing into a whole new place. It almost seemed scary in away.
Opening the van’s door Naruto jumped in. Raman was by his feet in a cat carrier and Shadow and happily waging his tail in the back. It seemed the animals wanted to get away from the house too.
Naruto looked up when he felt a warm hand on his own. Sasuke was looking at him intently, a small smile on his lips before he started the van. That towards Naruto was all he needed to get past this. All he needed was that smile.
The van pulled out of the small driveway before heading left. The black Sedan following them, with Kakashi waving through the window. Naruto could swear the guy was grinning even though he had half of his face covered. Kakashi had once said it made him look cool and mysterious. Naruto had of course thought it was a bunch of bull.
Naruto looked out the window seeing trees and sidewalks being passed as they went. He could see all the little spots they had gone to. Not wanting to think about it anymore he turned on the radio turning up the volume listening to “Fallen Leaves.”
