Chapter 9: Leaving for good?
“Please! Naruto… Sasuke… can we please go somewhere else… and get a room?” The ink shinobi begged the cuddling couple on the bloodied floor.
Both the blonde and the raven-haired looked at him… they had forgot about his present completely as they where to in to each other.
Naruto´s wound was already healed and even though Orochimaru´s poison still raged through his body, he was up; helping Sasuke to his feet and holding on to his hip to support him.
“So… How do we get out of here?” The blonde asked as he looked at the dead sanin.
“He was a terrible monster… What he did to you… I…” The Uchiha leaned onto Naruto´s slightly trembling frame. It felt so good and comforting to hear, to feel the blonde’s strong and steady heartbeat.
“Let’s forget about it… More importantly, what do we do from here? The blonde gave the wounded teen a smile.
“Hnnn!”
“Nah, I mean it… You are a missing-nin and I… Well look at me, do you think they’ll even let us inside of Konoha?”
“Good question Dobe!” The Uchiha stated. He hadn’t even thought about that yet… all he was wondering about was how to get closer and more intimate with this new Naruto.
Since when did the blonde get so thoughtful…? So clever and strategic… to be able to decide to use the Kagebushin to shield not only himself but also his comrades. To know when to attack with the Rasengen before Orochimaru was able to attack; to devour his body and soul and instead of killing the Sanin with the same blow. Impressive.
Sai stared at the two shinobi as they just looked at each other; both trying to smile even if it had to hurt like hell.
´They really are in love with each other… probably something like soul mates Sai sighed.´
“Well I suggest we leave here first and then we can decide where to go from there!” Sai muttered as he began to walk towards the door with the intent to leave the Sound as fast as his feet would allow it.

They left the room together and carefully moved in the shadows towards the exit. The dark tunnels where deadly silent, not one movement could be detected.
“Strange!” The blonde muttered as he pressed Sasuke´s trembling frame closer. His body and mind were still suffering from the fake visions of his own death by the hand of his former master; draining his energy.
“Yeah… We should have seen some of the Sound shinobi by now… They must have heard the raging battle… Why are they letting us leave?” Sai replied with concern in his voice.
“Wait! I can smell something.” The blonde drew in a deep breath of air, tasting the scent of the Oto-Gakure-nin´s with his improved senses. “They are reeking of fear… hiding from us… so shaky and afraid!” The blonde growled in delight.
This feeling of power and control was overwhelming… was this the way the Kyuubi had felt when it was free? It felt so good and addictive to the blonde.
He longed to seek them out… to hunt them down… tear at their flesh with his claws and fangs; tasting their blood and fear! No… he wasn’t a demon… he was still a human… in control of his actions.
He looked at Sai who was staring at him in fear.
“Sai…?” The ink-nin flinched away from the blonde’s hand as it reached out to him.
“You looked like a demon just now! You had a murderous look in your eyes and your fanged smile…” Sai stuttered and stared at the floor, not wanting to face the blonde.
“Sorry… I’m still not used to this new me… Don’t worry… I can control it so please don´t fear me, Sai-kun.” The blonde felt sad, he didn’t want any of his friends to fear him. “I would never hurt you!”
“I know… Naruto-kun, It´s just… I guess we have to get used to the changes as well, my friend.” Sai gave him a weak smile. This had been a very long day and they still had a great distance to travel to reach Konoha.
“… Yeah I guess so,” he mumbled softly. “Oh… Someone is waiting for us up ahead…” Naruto looked at Sai.
“How many and how strong, Dobe?” Sasuke managed to whisper as he felt better, leaning against the blonde.
“Four Sound-nin… Strong but no real threat… I think they just wanna talk to us, Teme!”

The four Sound-nin stood at the exit of the secret tunnels beneath the former country of the Rice Fields and waited for the three approaching shinobi. They shifted uneasily on their feet, afraid that the enemy would not give them a chance to speak before attacking and killing them like they did with Kabuto and Orochimaru.
They were fully aware of what had happened in the medic-nin´s lab as they had been able to hear everything from their dormitories that lay next to the laboratories.
They had been ordered to wait for the three warriors at the only exit of the hidden village of the Sound to deliver a message and an offer to them and hopefully they would be allowed to deliver it without losing their lives.

“Let go of me Dobe… I can stand on my own now.” The raven-haired male softly pushed the blonde away and mobilized the last of his strength to stand up straight as they approached the four Sound shinobi.
The blonde let him go without saying a word; accepting that Sasuke´s pride forced him to maintain the look of a strong and unbeatable shinobi.
Naruto stepped back and let the Uchiha prodigy take the lead, but Sasuke gestured to him to walk at his side… as his equal. Blue eyes lit up as Sasuke smiled at him. Side by side they walked towards the shaking Oto-nin´s, Sai walking behind them; keeping his distance.
They stopped a few feet away from the four nin´s and crossed there arms over their chests.
“Are you here to stop us?” The Uchiha hissed.
“No, Uchiha-sama!” The smallest nin and the only female of the group stepped forward and bowed to Sasuke and Naruto. “We are here to deliver a message from the elders… they would like both you and Uzumaki-sama to stay… to lead the Sound!”
“WHAT?” Sasuke, Naruto and Sai stared in disbelief at the shaking Sound-nin.
“It is our custom that the strongest nin is the leader. The elders consider both of you as worthy to become the leader of the Sound. They wish for you to rule our country together… please accept their offer!” The Sound-nin went to her knees as did her team, showing their respect and loyalty to the stunned men.
Naruto and Sasuke stared at each other. Sai was too stunned to say or do anything.
“Lead the Sound… together?” Naruto didn’t know how to react to the information they had just received.
“Are you joking? It´s not funny!” The Uchiha growled as he stepped threateningly closer to the four Oto-nin.
“…No…We are dead serious… Uchiha-dono, Uzumaki-dono” The female nin pleaded, afraid that the dark-eyed shinobi would kill her.
“I want to hear it from the elders themselves… I won’t believe it other wise!”
“As you wish, Uchiha-dono.” The nin ordered one of her subordinates to call the counsel together, still on her knees.
“Sasuke… what are you doing… are you really considering this as an option?”
