Approval Means Nothing

Naruto sighed heavily as he stared into the mirror. He never did like looking into mirrors...it made him feel odd. His blue eyes were focused on his attire of a dark, royal-blue kimono top with long sleeves and longer pants, with a white sash around his waist and matching white trim. He looked out of the window and saw the sun was gently setting over kohona and while he knew exactly what he was going to say and do, he wondered...would he actually survive his run-in with the infamous Hyuuga clan and Hiashi Hyuuga. He hated that man for belittling Hinata and Neji, with his superior complex, or as Naruto and Shikamaru often called it, being an asshole, he was just as bad as his uncle. He sighed heavily, sitting down on his bed, staring out of the window, thinking of the events that led up to where he was now. They'd all left the inn at around noon and arrived back at kohona an hour later or so. He was livid because Sakura insisted he and Hinata not hold hands, less they want to begin a battle they weren't even ready for. Sakura was still a little bit in shock from finding he and Hinata earlier that morning...especially because she believed Hinata would be the LAST one to lose her virginity. That aside, the only two words he and Hinata had exchanged since they'd been back in kohana were "goodbyes" and "see you tonight". He did all he could from embracing her as Kiba escorted her back to the estate. It was better her own teammate escort her back than the...well, 'the village curse' as he'd once heard Neji call him. After that, he and Temari walked to the gates of kohana where she told him to inform Shikamaru she'd be back soon enough. She also nearly took his lights out by making another comment about if she and Shikamaru were dating. Temari stormed out of kohana with a blush and Naruto could only chuckle. On his way home, he took a long detour past the Hyuuga estate and saw Hinata's maids dressing her in a beautiful kimono. Naruto blushed and headed home...and now, here he was, only moments away from one of the biggest choices of his life. Damn, he was nervous. He stood up, adjusting himself in the mirror once more before and nodded.

"Let's do this..." he muttered to himself.

No fear! He told himself as he walked out of the lonely house that had been his since he'd been a young pup. Damn those were so bad years of his. He sighed as he walked, staring off into the sun. What if Hinata got pregnant? Maybe not from last night, but in the future? Would the baby have her pale blue eyes and his spiky-blonde hair? Would he be shunned for being the son of the kyuubi? For some reason, it just didn't settle well with having a baby at this point in his life, but whatever happened, happened.

"Oi, Naruto!" a voice nearly shrieked.

He turned around, snapped out of his thoughts when he saw Sakura standing angrily behind him. He was actually more focused on her beauty than her anger. She was adorned in a brilliant, pink kimono decorated with light pink cherry blossoms almost in a star pattern. Her short hair was put up in a small ponytail and she wore two, pink cherry-blossom earrings in her ear. The sash around her waist was a soft pink color and she carried a small, white purse with her. She was even wearing the platformed shoes and white socks. He couldn't help but blush. She was even wearing makeup!

"Didn't you hear me calling you?"

He scratched the back of his head with a sheepish chuckle.

"Gomen ne, Sakura-Chan. You um...look great." he smiled.

She blushed and looked down.

"Do...do you think Sasuke-kun will like it?"

"I'll kick his ass if he doesn't." he smiled.

Sakura couldn't help but smile at her oldest and dearest friend and teammate. She had to admit, he looked amazing in his royal blue that set off his eyes perfectly. As they walked, some time still away from being at the Hyuuga home, he asked her, in all seriousness,

"So...Sakura-Chan, did you ever talk to Sasuke-Kun...about last night?"

She blushed, looking down. Thanks to Naruto's prodding and some threats on his end to do some serious damage to Sasuke, he was reallu curious as to why she nearly barreled over he and Hinata last night. Sakura sighed, remembering the scene very well and shook her head.

"I...I can't."

"But why did you suddenly bolt like that if that's what you wanted?"

Sakura shook her head. Sure, she was all ready and willing to have Sasuke take her, even in the dining area when they were supposed to be cleaning, but the second he'd pulled her yukata off her shoulders and he saw that "x"-shaped scar across her breasts, he gasped. Sakura, even remembering the shock of what he'd seen, grasped her kimono as she walked beside Naruto.

"You got that when we went to look for him, right?"

"Hai..."

She'd been so ashamed, she'd ran like hell from the room. She was ashamed of the scar, but mostly, she didn't want to run Sasuke out of town once more from guilt. After all, how could she possibly begin to explain HE'D been the one to hurt her...? Without warning, she found herself embraced by Naruto. She blushed horribly, looking around, wondering what people would think.

"Naruto! Let go...!"

"Gomen ne, Sakura...please, don't look so sad."

He pulled away from her and smiled a little, seeing Sakura as if she might cry a little. She sighed a little and looked at Naruto. She owed him so much...It was him who'd saved her when she'd received that marking on her chest and she knew how mature he'd gotten when he could look at her bare chest and one, not blush and two, not try to cop a feel. Sakura didn't care back then if he'd stopped the bleeding or not...But now, looking at him as he walked and they talked, she was glad he did. They were soon overshadowed by the large Hyuuga estate and Naruto swallowed nervously and Sakura's hand on his arm steadied him. He looked at her, raised his thumb and grinned.

"Believe it! I'll have Hinata...and Sakura?"

"Hai, Naruto-Kun?"

"You remember the plan if it doesn't go well?"

Sakura nodded, a small sadness in her eyes, but determination overwhelming the sadness.

"I remember, Naruto-Kun."

"Well, then...shall we?"

Both swallowed nervously and headed inside the huge estate where they were instantly greeted by a nice, elderly lady standing at the entrance.

"Ah! Finally, you two have arrived. Fourth Hokage, it's wonderful to see you."

Sakura's eyes widened and Naruto couldn't help but chuckle. Hinata had told him previously of Maka-Chan, the maid who'd raised Hinata until she developed slight memory loss. It was probably because of his spiky hair and blue eyes she easily mistook him for the long-deceased Fourth, but the fact still remained...Naruto intended on surpassing his father one day. As they removed their shoes at the entrance, Maka-Chan lead them through the huge household and both tried to hide the fact they were terrified. The house had maybe a hundred rooms and this, considering this was the main house they were in, told them the entire estate must have had thousands. Maka-Chan kneeled down by two, paper doors painted with cranes on them and opened them.

"Master Neji-Sama, the final guests have arrived. Shall I alert Hinata-Sama?"

Sakura and Naruto's eyes nearly bugged out their heads when they saw their friends. Neji, adorned in a black pair of pants and a long, white kimono top nodded his head as he sat beside TenTen who was adorned in an ice-blue, Chinese styled dressed. Neji refused to comment on how short it was, plus the slits up the side of it made it even more suggestive. She was 'adorably indecent' as Maka-Chan called the young, future-bride of the Hyuuga clan, but commented on how adorable the matching, blue ribbons in her hair were. But as his intended and acknowledged as such by the Hyuuga family, no one BUT Neji dared questioned her way of dress...with the exception of the witty Maka-Chan. Neji looked up at said Maka-Chan and nodded.

"Yes, Hinata's guests have all arrived anyway."

Sakura and Naruto greeted their friends as they all sat around the feast larger, MUCH larger than the one they'd had at the inn only last night. Even Chouji looked as if he doubted he could take the entire meal. Temari, adorned in a damn sexy black kimono with a red sash, almost matching her normal apparel, signaled Sakura to sit beside her where Sasuke was. Sakura, with undenyable grace, sat herself beside Sasuke in a very lady-like manner. She looked at him and smiled, admiring how handsome he looked in his black kimono.

"Konbawa, Sasuke-Kun."

Sasuke looked at Sakura who was blushing, but was a complete vision of beauty. He turned his head, looking at Naruto whom of course was chatting it up with Chouji and Shikamaru who dressed in simple kimonos. Green with a black belt for Shikamaru and brown with a green belt for the chubby Chouji. Sakura turned her own attention to talking to Ino who was adorned beautifully in an indigo kimono with a black belt. Just like Sakura, Ino's kimono was decorated with flowers, however, Ino's were white daisies. Very appropriate, seeing how Ino's family had practically invented flower arranging in Konoha. Ino's hair was even down, but held by a beautiful, white ribbon at the end. Kiba could be heard talking to Shikamaru across the table about their next mission. Even Kiba knew how to clean up when in the house of the Hyuuga. Kiba wore a black vest with a long, white, kimono-sleeved shirt beneath it and long, loose white pants.

"What is taking that girl so long...?" Neji wondered.

As if on cue, two maids entered the room from the opposite sides of the one sliding door and both bowed their heads.

"Presenting Hyuuga Heiress, Hinata-Sama."

They opened the door from the middle, revealing a kneeling, bowing Hinata and everyone went silent. God only knew how long it must have taken Hinata and her maids to get Hinata as dolled up as she was. She almost looked like a perfect mixture between a beautiful, priceless Japanese doll and a princess of a castle. The irony wasn't lost on them, that was for sure. Hinata was adorned in a pure, white kimono decorated with light blue flowers all over them. The ends of the sleeves on her kimono were also painted in the beautiful, sky-blue color. Her hair was let out and pulled and straightened until it trailed to the floor in a spiraling ponytail that fanned out at end, held by a pure, white rose. Around her slim waist, a light blue sash, tied into a large bow that's tails even lengthened completed the outfit. She raised her, revealing the soft makeup that'd been done on her. Her lips were painted in a rosy-red color and on her eyelids, a matching, light-blue eye-shadow. Her maids knew that she blushed enough, so no blush was even needed. The final shocker came when they saw Hinata was actually wearing two, small pearl earrings! No one knew she wore them, much less that her ears were peirced. She smiled warmly at her guests and in a soft voice, greeted them.

"I welcome you to my humble home. Please, make yourselves at home!" she smiled.

Hinata took her place at the end of the table, Naruto on her right, Kiba on her left. Neji sat on the other end of the table, TenTen at his right, Shikamaru at his left. Hinata raised her small cup of tea to her friends and smiled.

"To us. Please! Enjoy the food!"

Everyone watched with awe at how graceful Hinata was, even drinking tea. They all began to eat happily, but even the starving Naruto couldn't take his eyes of the blushing Hinata who talked to Kiba and her friends. Sakura leaned over to Naruto and teased him slightly.

"Imagine...that's the girl you're gonna marry, Naruto-Kun."

"O...Oi...!" he blushed.

"Look at how refined and beautiful she is. Doesn't she remind you of the princesses of feudal Japan? You only see princesses that beautiful in old scrolls and storybooks." Chouji nodded.

As she ate, she noticed Shino hadn't graced them with his presence, nor had Rock Lee.

"Kiba-Kun, where is Shino-Kun and Rock Lee-Kun?"

"He couldn't make it for some reason. Something about his mother yelling at him for all of the bugs in his room."

"And Rock Lee couldn't make it because of Guy-Sensei." Neji sighed.

Hinata giggled and finally, looked at Naruto. In his royal-blue kimono, he looked more like a samurai than a shinobi. She was suddenly struck by the imagery of the Fourth Hokage she once saw in a scroll. She blushed, hoping her father understood that he was the son of the Fourth and maybe that would make things a little easier. In the midst of dinner, TenTen held up her cup and cleared her throat.

"Excuse me, everyone!"

Everyone looked at the future Hyuuga bride and commended her on her bravery for willingly marrying into Neji's family. She was probably the only one among them who could talk back to Neji and get him to shut up.

"I just...wanted to say we all know why we are here tonight."

Neji looked confused at this point and it was then everyone realized it...TenTen hadn't told Neji the news.

"Hinata-Chan, you are one of my dearest, dearest friends and by far, we are all really happy for you."

"What's going on?" Neji interjected.

TenTen continued as if he hadn't even been heard.

"Naruto-Kun, you are also one of my dearest friends and you've been there for me no matter what. I wish both of you...eternal happiness."

Everyone cheered for them and raised their cups, all but Neji who'd finally figured out what had happened in just one night.

"WAIT A SECOND!"

Neji stood up, his eyes ready as if he were gonna use Bakugyuen on Naruto.

"Are you telling me that you two...?!"

Everyone got damn nervous at this point. TenTen sat down and glared at her future husband.

"Is that a problem?"

She glared at him with such a cold, icy stare, all of the men had chills running down their spines. Hinata nodded her head, knowing the levels of 'shutting up' TenTen could do when provoked.

"Neji-Niisama...I DO intend to marry Naruto-Kun." she said standing, with all confidence. She'd be damned if she let Neji talk down to her.

Neji growled and pointed,

"But Naruto-Kun is...!"

"The son of the Fourth Hokage and a well respected shinobi." Another voice said.

The doors abruptly opened and Hinata seemed frozen by fear as her father and head of the Hyuuga clan, Hiashi Hyuuga stood in the doorway, obviously overhearing the conversation. Naruto quickly stood up from his place at the table and walked over to where Hinata was standing, seeing how Hiashi was closest to Hinata at this point. Naruto bowed his head as did everyone in the room when Hiashi stepped in.

"But...just because of those two details, do you really believe I'd let the kyuubi into our family?"

Sakura nearly jumped up and hauled off on him big time, but inner Sakura was screaming and thrashing about. Even Sasuke seemed pissed.

"Outou-Sama, I..." Hinata began.

Naruto silenced Hinata and looked at Hiashi.

"I don't intend to be apart of your family, with all due respect, Hyuuga-Sama."

Everyone looked at Naruto completely surprised, save for Hiashi. Obviously the boy was thinking clearly.

"Well then, if that's the case, I see no problem..."

He turned to walk away, but froze when he heard the blonde calmly say,

"I intend for Hinata to become apart of MY family."

Hiashi turned around, his eyes burning with such a fury everyone could feel it.

"What did you say?!"

"I came here with only one intention: letting you know I have been seeing your daughter for the past two years or so."

This was obviously news to the other shinobi in the room, save for TenTen who'd always known. When you're kept in the background and on the low a lot, you learn a few things. Hinata's eyes widened, scared for Naruto at this point. Naruto lowered his head before chuckling and looking Hiashi directly in the eye.

"Now I have come with two: letting you know I have been seeing your daughter...and letting you know I intend to make Hinata Hyuuga my wife."

Hinata would have went into a full-blown faint had Kiba not been there to catch her and steady her.

"Oi! Hinata-Chan...! Are you okay?" He asked, holding her up.

She was obviously speechless and in shock. She'd only known, just like everyone else, of Naruto's plans to just tell Hiashi they'd been dating. How it was marriage?! Hinata was actually thrilled, despite the shellshocked look on her face. That is...until she saw Hiashi's hands balled into fists as Naruto concluded,

"With...or without your approval."
