Naruto, Sasuke, Sai

Sai narrowed his eyes at Sasuke, but didn’t say anything. Instead he reached into his pocket, flicking Sasuke a folded piece of paper. Catching it between his first two fingers, the traitor eyed the paper, but tucked it away into his kimono without opening it. He watched Sai put on a fake, cold smile as the artist spoke to him. “For your trip home.” There was another icy smile that followed before he kneeled down to picked Naruto’s arm up, letting the ninja lean on his shoulders. “If you decide to show up again, I’ll fight you until you stay, despite what Naruto says.” Sasuke just huffed at Sai’s threat, giving a cold smile in return. Sai turned then, vanishing with Naruto in one jump. As they disappeared, Sasuke turned the opposite direction of the ninja. He gave one longing look behind him, then turned to jump away.

Naruto’s Ending:

It wasn’t until the crack of dawn did Naruto wake up, rather unpleasantly with a nasty headache. “SASUKE!” he yelled, sitting straight up in the bed, reaching out. He was nude…and the bed he was in wasn’t his. “…What?” he asked, looking around the room. There were paintings on the walls, an art easel, and a lump next to him, curled up with his back turned that was Sai. Sai was nude as well, breathing softly as he slept, but snorted as Naruto’s sudden outburst caused him to wake up. “Hm…?” Sai cooed, rolling over onto his back as he slowly opened his eyes, blinking at Naruto. Naruto looked back, blinking as well. When did he get here? “Sasuke…”, he began to say. “Where is Sasuke?” Sai sat up, reaching over to turn on his lamp since there was still barely any light in the room. “What?” he asked, rubbing his eyes. “Sasuke? He….He’s at Orochimaru’s…”

Naruto frowned, shaking his head. “No. No, he was here! Where is he?!” he asked louder, grabbing Sai by the shoulders and shook him. Sai knocked Naruto’s hands away with some force, glaring at him. “He’s not here. You were dreaming and…”
“I wasn’t dreaming!” Naruto yelled, getting out of the bed. Sai sighed, looking at him, but then turned off his light, laying back down, rolling over with his back towards Naruto again. Naruto frowned, looking around the room. “…I wasn’t….was I? Sai….Hey, Sai…”, he sulked, reaching down to touch Sai’s shoulder but Sai shrugged him off. “You’re noisy.” Naruto gave a slight sigh, sitting down on the edge of the bed with his hands together as he looked down at the floor. “…It was just so real…I’m sorry. There’s no way none of that stuff happened…”, he mumbled, feeling like a complete shit. Sai gave a slight sigh, sitting up and looked at Naruto. “Dreams are dreams. No more real than a painting…”

Naruto gave a heavy sigh, but nodded. “Yeah…but you can make your paintings come to life...right?” he offered an apologetic smile to Sai, but Sai just shook his head. “I can make them move to my will, but it’s nothing more than puppetry or animation…” Naruto frowned again, standing up. “Yeah, I guess that’s true….” he sighed, ruffling up his own hair. “I need a shower…”, he said, heading to the bathroom. Sai watched him go, feeling rather guilty, but knew it was for the best. If Naruto knew that any of his dream was real, it would ruin him. Naruto sat on the floor of the shower as the hot water ran over his body, his arms folded over the tops of his knees and his heart torn apart. It wasn’t the first time he had a dream about Sasuke…but this…no, it couldn’t be real and wouldn’t be ever, no matter how much he longed for it. His head fell forward into his arms as his eyes teared up.

Sasuke’s ending:

“You’re late, Sasuke…”, Kabuto smirked as he stood at the entrance to the hideout. Sasuke didn’t dignify Kabuto’s remark with a response, walking directly past him to enter the fortress. “How was Naruto?” Kabuto teased more, turning to watch Sasuke walk in. The name of his best friend spoken made Sasuke pause with his eyes wide, but his look quickly turned into a threat as he looked over his shoulder to give a death glare to the medic. “OOO…scary…”, chuckled the man, pushing his glasses up his nose. “Orochimaru waited patiently for you to return. I’d say we were surprised to see you go, but that’d be a lie…” Sasuke huffed, turning his head to walk down the hall. “I don’t give a damn what you and him find surprising”, he said coldly, walking towards his room. Kabuto let him go, sighing a little and shook his head. “What do you think of that, Orochimaru…?”

There was a slight chuckle as the white ninja appeared behind Kabuto, placing his hands on his hips. “Nothing. There’s no fear of him running away as long as Itachi is still alive…” Kabuto gave an agreeing nod as they both turned to vanish in the catacombs. Sasuke had walked his way to his room, shutting the door. It was only when he was behind closed doors, did he start to express how much pain his body was in. He began to peel off his clothes, leaving a trail as he made his way into his bathroom for a shower. He turned on the hot water, leaning on his shoulder blades on the wall as the water rinsed his dirtied body. He stood in there until the water ran cold, finally turning it off, and walked out as he dried himself with a black towel. His plan was to limp his way directly to bed, but his toes ruffled a piece of paper on the floor before he made it there. Curious, he looked down at his dirty kimono with the folded piece of paper that Sai had given him next to it on the floor. He leaned down, hissing slightly, and stood up again when he retrieved it. Unfolding the neat edges, his face softened as he saw what Sai had given him: a charcoal drawing of him and Naruto, kissing.

He stared at the drawing with the towel draped over the back of his shoulders as he sat down on his small, lonely, cold bed. He looked over the details, the emotions, then with a deep breath, a small flame escaped from his lips, catching a corner of the page. Slowly, the flame moved, engulfing the drawing as Sasuke stared until there was nothing left of it but ash. He blew the specs from his hand as if setting them free before he curled up on his bed. With his face towards the wall, he slowly closed his eyes to sleep.

Sai’s ending:

Sai decided it was best to take Naruto back to his place. That was where he was suppose to be anyways, before Sasuke decided to show his face. With a heavy grunt, Sai place Naruto on his bed, removing his clothing carefully, putting them under the bed after he had folded them. He eyed the boy, touching the marks on his chest and neck that Sasuke had left, feeling envious. Sai never dared to be so rough with Naruto, nor so passionate, and Naruto was almost a completely different person around Sasuke. “So, that’s what you mean…I’ll never be able to cross that line…”, Sai said softly, even though Naruto couldn’t hear him. He sat on the edge of the bed, staring at Naruto’s body, then removed his backpack from his shoulder. He fished inside, pulling out the sketchbook he had used earlier, flipping through the drawings he did of the pair making love so feverishly.

He had never before seen anything like that, and no book could use words to properly describe the heat between two genuine lovers. As fascinated as Sai was it the entire ordeal, he felt bitter and hurt, slamming the book shut and stood up. He went to his trash can, dropping the book inside, then splashed a bit of paint thinner on it. He took his box of matches from one of his dresser compartments, lighting one. He watched the flame burn on the match for a moment before dropping it inside, watching the book and all of it’s drawings flicker and burn. It wasn’t until there was nothing left, did he smother the flames out with sand. The book burning only gave him some satisfaction, but he bit as his thumbnail in frustration until his nail began to bleed. With a heavy sigh, he undressed himself, crawling into bed with Naruto, only giving himself a few minutes before Naruto woke up, calling out Sasuke’s name.

When Naruto came back from his session in the shower, Sai was pretending to be asleep again. Naruto smiled a bit, reaching down to give Sai’s hair an affectionate petting with his fingers before crawling in beside him. “I know you’re not asleep…I’m sorry…”, Naruto whispered in Sai’s ear, putting his arm around him as he got into the spooning position. Sai opened his eyes slowly, but continued to look at the wall until Naruto turned him around, getting on top of him. “You forgive me, right?”, he asked, kissing lightly at Sai’s lips and cheeks. Sai’s facial expression was neutral, but he put his arms around Naruto’s body. Even if he wanted to be mad, he couldn’t help himself. Naruto was warm from the shower and it was the first time they really touched all day. He clung to Naruto, despite himself, nuzzling his face on Naruto’s shoulder as if he wanted to cry. The blond frowned, running his fingers through Sai’s hair, feeling horribly guilty.

“I’m sorry, ya know…It was just a dream. I shouldn’t have made such a big deal about it…”, he tried to apologize more. “I’ll make up for it, honest.” Sai looked up at him then, locking eyes.
“How?” Naruto blinked, then looked away in thought.
“Well…I dunno…What do you want?”
“….What happened in the dream?”
“Uh….a lot of stuff…Some bad…some good….some really…really good..”
“You made love to Sasuke, right?” Naruto looked down then, blinking again as his face started to turn red. “Well…uh..yeah…but how did you….”, he muttered, rubbing his neck that was slightly sore, but he had no idea way. “Do it to me then. Do it to me that way you did it to Sasuke. The exact same.”
“Why would you want…”, but Naruto paused as he saw the look of seriousness in Sai’s eyes. They were firm, but hurt looking, causing Naruto to sigh yet again. “Alright…but it was a little rough…” Sai just smiled, shaking his head. “That’s fine. I want the exact same.” Naruto chuckled again, leaning down to kiss him. “Fine, but don’t say I didn’t warn ya.”
