“What are we doing here?”
“We are here to talk.” Neji said in a tone that clearly said he was humoring the other.
“What about?”
“Us.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The way Neji said it made Sasuke’s insides flutter.
‘Us’. It sounded final—concrete.
Like they had something that wasn’t based solely on the physical.
“Okay.” Because really, what else could he say? Nothing came to mind. He let Neji lead him to the table where some of his favorite foods were laid out. To say that Sasuke was impressed was an understatement; he was downright shocked at the extent to which the brunette seemed to know more about him than he knew of the brunette. He felt so…young in Neji’s presence. As though he were insignificant, as though he didn’t know anything.
‘This was stupid.’ He thought to himself, his tone forlorn. ‘I never should have started this. If he keeps this up, I’ll end up falling for him.’ With this, his thoughts began to wander to Naruto and he found that the blonde was no longer at the forefront of his thoughts as the brunette was. Naruto was his first love, but that didn’t mean he was the one.
Neji...seeing Neji before him, doing this for him…made his heart flutter and his stomach do odd cartwheels. He turned to Neji, wanting so bad to kiss the taller man, but knew that that wouldn’t be prudent of him. He scoffed at himself—he was behaving like a love sick school girl with a crush. He had to stop this emotional bullshit before he drove Neji away with his womanly behavior. He chuckled internally at himself before squaring his shoulders and taking a deep breath. He was about to say something but froze with his mouth open at the intense look Neji was giving him. He snapped his mouth shut, knowing he must be looking like a fish out of water. Neji was practically devouring him with his eyes. The look in the brunette’s eyes was doing odd things to his body—was it just him, or was there a terrifying hike in the temperature?
Neji couldn’t tear his eyes away from the picture the Uchiha painted. The vulnerability he showed only made him
want the raven more. He could see all the emotions playing in clear view on the raven’s face. He must not know how easy to read he is, even with that mask of indifference he wears all the time. Mr. Ice Prince was actually a very emotionally responsive person. If the others knew about this…
But that was it...he didn’t want anyone else to know about this other side of Sasuke—didn’t want to share this incredibly sexy, easily readable, fuckable man with anyone else. And that thought scared him. Neji never did like to share what was his...but he never put any claim to the raven. It was kind of obvious that the Uchiha wanted to be claimed—well, he actually wanted to be dominated, but those were just semantics. And he needed to know if Sasuke really wanted this or if it was just the hormones of the horny raven that were speaking for him.
He wanted to have the Uchiha. His cock stirred as his mind projected images—memories—of the raven in the throes of passion. Oh, god how he wanted the raven. But they had decided to take things slow. And this was the first step to claiming the Uchiha. And not just physically. He wanted Sasuke for himself, true, but he also wanted the raven to fall for him like he had for the raven. He didn’t know when he realized that he had fallen for the Uchiha, but it was during one of those sleepless nights, when all he had to comfort him was his hand and the images of Sasuke. And not just frisky Sasuke, but sleeping Sasuke, pissed off Sasuke, vulnerable Sasuke. He wanted everything the Uchiha was.
But he also didn’t want to put his heart on the line if the raven was going to go back to Naruto after—if he found that there was nothing more for him and the Hyuuga. So he was going to win the Uchiha the only way he knew how. He was going to woo Sasuke. Sweep him off his feet, so to speak.
But it was so hard to restrain himself and keep his hands to himself when the raven was right in front of him looking so delectable. Maybe just this once.... one simple kiss wouldn’t hurt, right?
He strode forward until his face was only inches from the Uchiha’s and ran his fingers through silky hair before grabbing the nape of his neck and bringing the raven’s face forward until their lips connected. This kiss was somehow different. The knowledge that he wanted the Uchiha, that he had fallen for him, made the kiss that much sweeter. Sasuke’s mouth opened almost immediately, letting him slide his tongue inside the wet cavern and possess that mouth. He ran his tongue over teeth, gums, the roof of his mouth, causing the Uchiha to let out a mewl and bring his body closer to the brunette’s. He let his hands travel down the raven’s sides, circling around his waist to bring him closer, but left them there, not wanting to push his luck. The kiss went from sweet to torrid in a matter of seconds and they were devouring each other, close to fainting from lack of oxygen. It was only when their lungs complained loudly that they tore away from each other.
‘Oh, God.’ Sasuke thought, not knowing how he was reacting so strongly to a kiss, but wanting the brunette’s mouth kissing him again. They only took a slight pause, still panting, but the need to feel that pleasure zinging through them was too much and they latched onto each other once again. Sasuke couldn’t stop the sounds coming from him if he wanted to. He wove his fingers through Neji’s hair, pulling lightly when the brunette began nibbling on his bottom lip, making him moan. He pulled away again, gasping for air, this time feeling as though he was going to faint, and rested his head on Neji’s shoulder. They stood there breathing hard, holding each other tightly. Sasuke broke the silence.
“How come every time we talk, we end up eating each other’s faces?” he asked slightly amused. Neji let out a loud laugh. Sasuke had no idea that Neji could laugh that way. His laugh was deep and sexy and wonderful and he realized that he had never heard Neji laugh like this before. He’d heard him chuckling, or laughing sarcastically, but his laugh was carefree and it pulled at the raven’s heart. It made him feel special that he was the one to make the brunette laugh like that—make him happy.
Neji finally pulled away, only keeping one of Sasuke’s hands in his, walking them to the table. Once they were settled with their own plates they began eating. It was a comfortable meal, small conversation not needed, neither being one to speak much. It was only when they got to dessert, dango- Sasuke’s personal weakness- that Sasuke finally, after pulling himself away from the sweets, asked Neji what it was they were going to talk about.
“Well I did say we were going to talk about us.” Neji said coyly, avoiding answering his question.
“What exactly does that mean?” Sasuke said, his voice wavering in anticipation, wishing Neji would just tell him what he was going to say.
Neji sat staring intently at Sasuke, seeing the anticipation and hope and dread written all over the raven’s eyes. How easy to read he was. He thought of what he wanted to say but he also thought of what he should say. He wanted to say that he had already fallen in love with Sasuke, that he wanted them to be together. To forget that stupid plan of wanting to make Naruto and Hinata jealous. But he also knew that he had to be prudent. That he couldn’t push Sasuke too hard too fast.
“I invited you here to tell you that... I wanted to ask you to go out with me. Officially. And...to forget about that stupid plan about trying to win back Naruto. When I’m with you... I don’t want to be with Hinata. I want to be given the chance to make you forget about Naruto.” Sasuke’s eyes were wide. What Neji was asking was...impossible. He was just horny. Wasn’t he?! He didn’t want to let go of the thought of Naruto. Naruto had been his everything when he was at his worst.
But another part of him wanted to have Neji do everything he asked. To give Neji the power to make him forget. He wanted everything Neji offered. And he wanted Neji-physically. Everything about the brunette turned him on like nothing else did and he wanted it. Oh gods how he wanted it.
Neji saw Sasuke’s reaction. His wide eyes and the scared look that flashed across his features before uncertainty settled in.
“I know it’s a lot to ask,” Neji continued, “That it’s all but impossible for you to forget him. But I just want you to give me the opportunity to show you that there is more than Naruto. That I really care about you...” he began to lose steam as he began to lose confidence, not liking that look on Sasuke’s face. He sighed quietly, knowing it was too much to ask of Sasuke. He never should have done this, asked this of him. But he wasn’t going to give up. He was in love with Sasuke and he was going to prove it to the raven. But he was going to have to give him time... and he hated that most of all.
“If you say no it’s okay. Just know that...that I care about you and that won’t change no matter what you decide.” But Neji stayed there, standing his ground (so, okay—he was seated, but those were technicalities) wanting to see for himself what Sasuke decided.
Sasuke had a lot to contemplate. He didn’t want to forget Naruto. He didn’t want to feel guilty for forgetting the one person that was there for him when everything else was lost. He didn’t want to lose the wonderful memories Naruto created in him and the things the blonde had made him feel. Another part of him wanted to bad to rid himself of his past that was Naruto. He didn’t want to think that he would feel guilty if he moved on. It didn’t have to be that way. Naruto would understand. Neji could be so much better for him in so many ways. Neji made him feel things that not even Naruto did... and that dominant way Neji was with him...how he dominated the raven turned him on so much...it made him feel a deeper connection to Neji than Naruto ever had. He felt that Neji understood him more than Naruto ever did...
And if he was truthful with himself, he would tell himself that he did want to forget about Naruto. He was tired of holding a thing for the blonde idiot. He...a darker part of him felt that he owed something to the blonde for everything he did and that’s why he still held a torch for Naruto. He didn’t want to feel that way anymore. Neji...he didn’t want to think of it this way, but it could be seen as Neji being his way out of this psychological trap he inflicted upon himself. So...all he had to do now was say it out loud... easier said than done...
“I...” he hadn’t begun and he was already stumbling over his words. “I do want to give you the ...chance...to make everything ...better. I...want to forget him. I don’t think I ever really believed that stupid plan.. it was so stupid.” He shook his head in self disgust, calling himself an idiot.
“Well then that makes me a bigger idiot for following you into this plan.”
‘And falling for the idiot.’ Though he didn’t say that aloud. Neji was elated. Sasuke had said yes. Well, he hadn’t said the word, but it was implied in his little mumbled confession—again, semantics. Sasuke chuckled slightly at his words and visibly relaxed again as he took another bite of his dango.
“So...it’s official? We’re going out now?” Neji asked—for clarification purposes he told himself, though he knew another part of him, a more primal, dominant part, wanted to hear the words from those sweet lips.
“Yes...we’re dating.” Sasuke said after a slight embarrassed hesitation.
“Should we seal it with a kiss?” Neji asked flirtingly. Sasuke laughed.
“What is this, the 17th century? You are such a hopeless romantic.” Sasuke scoffed but still gave into Neji’s antics and kissed the brunette, a chaste kiss that was all that sweeter because of the dessert. After a few minutes of comfortable silence, Sasuke broke it by asking one of the many questions that were floating through his mind.
“So...do we tell anyone?”
“We don’t have to...unless you want to. I say we tell them when they ask, if not they should find out by word of mouth.” Neji said, more like his calm collected self.
“Okay...so...what exactly does this entail?” Sasuke asked coyly, not wanting to be too brash or too direct.
“What do you mean?” Neji asked perplexed, his thoughts slightly more PG than Sasuke’s at the moment. Sasuke didn’t want to beat around the bush, so he did something very un-Sasuke-like.
“Well...does this mean we can have sex now?” Sasuke’s question was said in a tone that made the man sound like he was a small child. He sounded naïve and innocent and the pictures it painted on the Hyuuga’s mind made the brunette slowly go crazy. Oh god. The Uchiha was still really horny if he was asking such questions...
“Uh...” was the brunettes brilliant reply.
