What Dreams May Come.

Chapter Nine

Sasuke slammed the door to his apartment and leaned against the wood, panting. His lips still burned from the mind blowing kiss. The touch and taste of Naruto continued to linger in his mouth. His tongue swiped along the reddened flesh, seeking remnants of the blonde’s taste. The natural flavor was more addicting than anything that had ever crossed his lips. His heart pounded in his chest and the ache in his loins intensified.

His mind reeled with the effort that it took to compartmentalize all of the emotions and sensations that were rolling through him. Staggering to the couch, Sasuke threw himself onto the comfortable piece of furniture. Even twenty minutes after the kiss had ended, he was still aching with a need that was all too familiar. This was how he felt when he awoke from one of the dreams. It was more than sexual desire, it was an aching emptiness in his very being. After awakening from the dreams, he always felt empty inside and didn’t know what he could do to fill the void. This was that same feeling only multiplied by a thousand.

“Why do I feel the need to be near him and be only his? Why does he haunt my dreams? Why do I never want to stop looking in his eyes?” whispered Sasuke to the dark room.

“Naruto, what are you doing to me?”

Sasuke thought back to when he had entered the dojo. Naruto standing in his black tank top and loose cotton pants was something out of a midnight fantasy. He moved like a wild animal, smooth and exacting. His body cut in hard, tight muscles. Slightly shorter than himself, Naruto’s muscles were perfectly drawn across his frame. It was a body powerfully conditioned to perfection. Sasuke closed his eyes as he felt the burning between his legs intensify at the memory. He needed relief and he needed it now. Never in his life had he developed a raging erection such as this one.

Sitting on the couch, Sasuke debated a cold shower or manual relief. He really didn’t like the thought of a cold shower. Taking the lesser of the two evils, he opted for self relief. Biting his lip, Sasuke reached for the waist of his loose pants. Hissing as he pushed the soft cotton pants over his hips, Sasuke groaned at the feel of cool air on his throbbing cock. Wrapping his slender fingers around the thickness, Sasuke stroked towards the tip. He cried out and his hips jerked as his fingers teased over the sensitive head. He had never been this sensitive. He was nearly bursting and he had barely touched himself.

“Naruto…” whimpered Sasuke as he imagined that it was Naruto touching him. His blood heated up to near boiling. He ran his thumb across the tip, spreading the leaking precum. Pressing a finger into the small leaking slit, Sasuke arched his back off the couch. Stars danced behind his closed lids. He wasn’t going to last long and he didn’t want to. He needed this release so he could think.

Tightening his fist on the heated flesh, Sasuke pumped his fist faster. Reaching below to cup the heavy aching sac, he messaged it in an effort to relieve the pressure. His mind saw sunshine blonde hair, a teasing grin, and sapphire blue eyes. That was all it took. His body arched high off the couch.

“Oh, God.” Sasuke cried out as his body exploded. His hips jerked as white fluid burst from the tip and oozed down his hand. Aftershocks of the orgasm, rushed through his body. He lay there twitching for several minutes, unable to move. His mind hovered on the edge of oblivion, pulled into bliss by the powerful orgasm.

After the initial pleasure faded, Sasuke was left empty once again. There was no one here with him. There was no one there to hold him as he came back from the orgasm, no one to kiss and cuddle with. It was a solitary pleasure that left him feeling less satisfied than he had before completion. The physical craving was gone but now he was left with empty arms and an aching heart.

Cleaning up, Sasuke decided that this was one of those times when he was lucky to have an older brother. Grabbing his cell from his bag, Sasuke entered Itachi’s number and waited for him to pick up. Itachi would know what he should do.

“Uchiha.”

“Aniki…”

“Sasuke? What’s wrong?” Itachi asked, the worry in his voice propelled Sasuke to speak. There was no need to worry his brother. It had taken more than a little pushing just to be allowed to have his own apartment. He didn’t want his brother to come storming down the door in worry.

“Itachi, I need advice.” said Sasuke.

“Advice? About what?”

“There is this man at school…”

“What happened, Sasuke?” asked Itachi, his full attention now on his little brother.

“He kissed me.” whispered Sasuke.

“He kissed you? Did you like it?”

“That’s not the point.” growled Sasuke.

“That sounds like it is exactly the point. I told you, you are socially retarded. With your looks, I don’t know why you never dated.”

“I’m just confused. I’ve never felt this way before. When I’m around him, my attention is completely focused on him. When I’m not with him, he is in my thoughts.”

“Sasuke, why are you so upset? He kissed you, you liked it, so what? Did he ask you out?” asked Itachi.

“I ran away from him. He kissed me and I ran. I think I might have hurt him. I didn’t know how to react. This guy, he confuses me.” answered Sasuke.

Sasuke heard the slapping of Itachi’s hand on his forehead. He glared at the phone. If Itachi was in the room, the glare would have probably seared his hair down to the roots. Itachi sighed.

“Alright, I am going to ask you something and I want you to answer truthfully. Can you see yourself without this man in your life?” asked Itachi.

“…”

“Sasuke, answer the question.” growled Itachi.

“No.” answered Sasuke.

“No what?”

“No, I cant see myself without him in my life. I’ve known him for less than a week and he has become the whole center of my universe.” ground out Sasuke.

“Well, I see only one thing for you to do.” said Itachi.

“What’s that, Itachi?” asked Sasuke.

“Find him and fuck his brains out.” said Itachi.

“I should have known you wouldn’t take anything I said seriously.”

“I’m sorry little brother, its just that you are acting so emotional over a little kiss. Just go talk to the guy. He might be just as fucked up as you over the whole thing.” said Itachi.

“You think?” asked Sasuke, considering everything his brother had said. Itachi might be a dick sometimes but he was good to ask advice from.

“Honestly, I don’t know what he would see in you but yea he’s probably just as confused about you as you are about him.” said Itachi, truthfully.

“I guess.”

“If you decide to fix whatever happened, bring him along to our date next weekend. I’d like to meet the man that has my little brother so flustered.” smirked Itachi.

“Tachi…”

“Yea?”

“Thanks”

“That’s what big brothers are for.”

Sasuke ended the call and sat for a long time contemplating what Itachi had said. Was Naruto really as confused as himself? The two of them needed to talk. First thing tomorrow, he would find the blonde and they would talk. Sasuke rubbed his chest. He had made up his mind to talk to the blonde, why did his chest still hurt? Why did he still feel as if he had lost his best friend?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Naruto curled into himself on the king sized bed. He could barely feel anything other than the pain of rejection that coursed through him. Why had he jumped the gun with Sasuke? He could have waited. He had waited a millennia, he could have waited a few days, or weeks, or even months. Yet, here he lay, wallowing in his own pain and guilt.
‘Stupid, stupid Naruto.’ he berated himself.
Closing his eyes, Naruto tried to push the pain aside, but it wouldn’t go. It was beating against him like a powerful wind. Curling into an even tighter ball, Naruto recalled the look Sasuke had on his face before he fled the room. It was fear. He was afraid of him. Sasuke was afraid of the person that had waited a thousand years for him.
“Sasuke…” whispered Naruto.
His eyes burned but no tears would come. His tears had all been shed. Clutching the ancient metal headband in his fist, Naruto rubbed his thumb over the fading symbol of his home. Both he and Sasuke had dedicated their lives to the village. In the end, Sasuke was the one that had made the ultimate sacrifice for it.
Perhaps it was time to go home. It had been over a year since Naruto had gone to the remains of the hidden village. He was the only person that knew of its existence. The only person that knew of its history. He longed to return to the time of its glory, to the time when he was happy.
“Kyuubi?”
'Yea, kit?'
“Have I lost him?”
'You are soul mates. The only pair I have ever had the pleasure to meet. You will always find each other. You can only be happy with each other.' answered Kyuubi.
“I think I need to go home. I don’t think I can take the look he gave me again.” whispered Naruto.
'Home?'
“Konoha.”
'If you think that’s what you need.'
“I don’t know.”
Naruto felt himself falling through darkness. Opening his eyes, he found himself once again before the ‘prison’ of the great nine tailed fox. Though in truth, it was more of a refuge than an actual prison. Kyuubi couldn’t leave, but that didn’t mean that he considered this place a prison.
The blonde walked to the cage and stepped through the bars as if they were not even there. Curling up against the large beast like a child would its mother, Naruto felt tears once again leak from his eyes. A large fluffy red tail curled around the man that lay against the fox.
“I think I just want to sleep for a while. I don’t want to think or feel anything.” whispered Naruto as he nuzzled the soft fur, comforted by the presence of the great beast.
Kyuubi sighed. This was too close to how he had been during his time in the toad village. Naruto had withdrawn into himself so much that even Kyuubi had a difficult time gaining a response. He never wanted to see Naruto in that shape again. He knew without a doubt that the boy would have wasted away before everyone’s eyes if he had been able to die.
Exerting a little chakra, Kyuubi saw a tiny fox appear before the cage. It was small enough to fit inside a person’s hand. It wasn’t an actual living creature, but a facet of Kyuubi’s consciousness. One of many facets.
'Go to Tsunade and tell her of this development. Tell her to bring Jiraiya and come to Naruto. Its time he realizes that he isn’t alone in this world of reincarnated souls.' said Kyuubi. The little fox nodded and was gone leaving only small cloud of red smoke behind.
'Rest, Naruto. I have one last surprise for you. I want to see you smile again. I will make sure you are happy.' cooed the fox to the sleeping man. Naruto sighed into the fox and drifted even further into sleep. Kyuubi curled his body around his sleeping host and soon, he too drifted into oblivion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Naruto awoke from a blessedly dreamless sleep to gritty eyes and an aching head. Such was the price to pay for crying until you no longer had tears. Even now, he really didn’t want to get out of bed. Lately, Kyuubi had been nagging him about sleeping habits. Not today, though. Perhaps the old fox decided to be magnanimous and allow him a small respite. Deciding that today didn’t warrant getting out of bed, Naruto curled into the covers and closed his eyes.

The door bell chimed it’s annoying signal. His eyes popped open and he glanced at the digital clock. It was eight o’clock in the morning. Naruto ignored it. Whoever it was would go away soon. The bell rang again. Naruto continued to ignore it. A heavy fist beating on the door resulted in Naruto jumping out of bed. Whoever was at his door was about to get an earful of how annoyed he was at this moment. Swinging the door open, wearing nothing but a pair of black and orange boxers, Naruto stood gaping at his visitors.

“Good morning, gaki.” smiled Tsunade.

“Um, good morning.” said Naruto.

“Looks like a thousand years didn’t improve your manners, kid.” commented Jiraiya.

Glancing down, Naruto blushed at his state of undress. Rushing back to his bedroom, Naruto grabbed a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt from hi closet. Walking back into the foyer, Naruto suddenly froze as his mind caught up to his body.

‘Did Jiraiya just say what I thought he said?’ Naruto asked himself.

Naruto attempted to swallow the huge lump in his throat. Peering around the corner, Naruto looked on as the two older individuals sat beside each other on his black leather couch. He was terrified to enter the room. He didn’t want what he thought he had heard to be a auditory hallucination. And at the same time, he wanted it to be.

“Get your ass in here, brat.” shouted Tsunade, a vein popping in her forehead.

Naruto snapped to attention and approached the two. He didn’t say anything, just stood before them like a child about to be reprimanded for breaking the rules. Biting the inside of his jaw, Naruto waited patiently.

“What happened to you, kid? You used to be so upbeat.” asked Jiraiya, his eyes narrowing.

“…”

“Jiraiya, shut up.” growled Tsunade. Standing up, the former Hokage, walked to her ‘little brother.’ Caressing the pendant that still hung around his neck, she smiled.

“I didn’t think, when I gave this to you, that it would last through the ages.” she whispered.

“Baa-chan?” whispered Naruto, his eyes looked longingly into soft hazel eyes.

“Please forgive me Naruto, for leaving you alone for so long.” murmured Tsunade.

Naruto wasn’t listening, his body began to shake. Tsunade pulled him tightly within her embrace. He stood stiffly in the embrace for several moments before his own arms lifted up and encircled her waist. Her hands rubbed his back in gentle strokes, until the quivering stopped.

“I suppose we have a lot of explaining to do.” she whispered to her little brother.

“How…?” asked Naruto, his eyes, large sapphire pools.

“After you left for the toad village, Jiraiya and I had an interesting visitor. A tiny fox, no bigger than the palm of my hand came into my office. The fox, it turned out was an incarnation of the nine tailed fox. Seems that he made a deal with fate on your behalf. In return for reincarnating your precious people, you would be forced into solitude for a thousand years.” said Tsunade as she continued to rub Naruto’s back.

“We were forbidden from contacting you once you left Gamabunta‘s village.” added Jiraiya sadly.

“This was done without my knowledge?” asked Naruto.

“That was the safest way. Water takes longer to boil when you watch it.” offered Tsunade.

“You are here how?”

“Well after we talked with the nine tails, we began to work on a way to obtain longevity. Turns out some of Orochimaru’s experiments wasn’t far off the mark. The only thing was that you needed extremely powerful chakra control. That wasn’t difficult for me but him…” Tsunade pointed a finger at Jiraiya.

“Took me nearly five years to gain enough control to maintain the jutsu.” grumbled Jiraiya.

Naruto sat quietly for a few minutes, he seemed to be digesting all the new information that had been shoved his way. Kyuubi, smart creature that he was, remained silent. After silence ensued for several minutes, Jiraiya and Tsunade began to shift uncomfortably. Naruto remained still as a statue. The play of emotions across his face was astonishing. Confusion shifted to understanding, which shifted to anger.

“What the fuck did all of you think you were doing, meddling in my life. It’s MY LIFE.” yelled Naruto, his face reddening in anger.

“Now you listen, brat, Jiraiya and I went through a lot of shit to make sure you wouldn’t be alone when the convergence occurred. Show a little gratitude.” snarled Tsunade.

“Gratitude? I never asked to be kept alive to mourn for a thousand years. To have to see Sasuke again and know that he may never feel the way about me that I do about him. To know that he doesn’t remember what we meant to each other. Yes, I’m very grateful.” stated Naruto.

Jiraiya glanced down at his lap. The two were going at it like no tomorrow. The insults and shouts thrown back and forth were beginning to cause him to develop a headache. The boy was in shock. The only emotion that he could grasp onto with firmness was anger. Anger was comforting to him. Anger allowed him to express all his pent up emotions over his strained relationship with this incarnation of Sasuke. Jiraiya understood this and stood to lay a hand on Tsunade’s shoulder. Shaking his head, Jiraiya turned to Naruto.

“Naruto, what do you want to do?” asked Jiraiya.

With those words, the anger seemed to drain from Naruto and he slumped against Tsunade. The fight left him just as quickly as it came. He knew what he needed, what he wanted to do.

“I need to go home…to think.” whispered Naruto. “I can’t think here, too many things distract me.”

“Konoha?” asked Tsunade.

“Yea…I…baa-chan, can you handle my class for a day or two. I need to get away.” asked Naruto, looking up at her with eyes that held far too much sadness.

“Sure Naruto. But, what about Sasuke?” she asked.

“He will still be here when I get back. I just need some time to myself. I‘ll be back on Monday. I think…” said Naruto.

He left the two sitting in the living room and entered his bedroom, a few minutes later exiting with a duffle bag. They both stood and walked with him to door. Naruto locked the door and opened the garage where a black SUV was parked. Tossing the duffle in the back, Naruto climbed behind the wheel and turned to Tsunade.

“I’m going now. I’ll be back on Monday.” said Naruto.

“Be careful, brat.”

Naruto nodded and pulled the SUV out of the driveway and down the road. Tsunade and Jiraiya stood silently watching, Naruto disappear over the horizon.

“I’m not letting him stay there alone in the shape he’s in.” said Tsunade.

“Well, what do you propose we do? Its not like either of us would be welcome.”

“I think I have an idea. Come with me.” smirked Tsunade.

“What are you thinking of Tsunade-hime?”

“You’ll see.” she smirked.

Arriving at the school, they stopped by her office. She spent a few minutes typing at her computer until she apparently got the information she wanted.

“Lets go.” she said.

“You planning on letting me in on your little plan?” asked Jiraiya.

“Just follow me, you old goat.” she said.

“I’ll have you know that you are the same age as me.” commented Jiraiya.

They walked towards the math building, and stopped outside a door. Tsunade knocked and after a few minutes, Kakashi answered clad in a turtle neck shirt that covered the lower part of his face and a black eye patch.

“Yes?” he asked.

“Do you mind if we steal Uchiha Sasuke from you?” Tsunade asked sweetly. Kakashi shook his head and stepped aside, motioning for Sasuke to go with Tsunade.

“Bring your bags, you wont be returning to class today.” said Tsunade.

Sasuke frowned but exited the room. Kakashi closed the door and resumed class. Sasuke stood staring at the two strangers. Class was scheduled to end in thirty minutes and Sasuke had hoped to be able to find Naruto in his office. The woman smiled sadly as she looked him over. Sasuke kept his face neutral. What was this about?

“Sasuke, we have to talk.”

~Thank you for the reviews.~

Akiru chan nope I just couldn’t resist, besides it got me what I wanted, Sasuke unsure and Naruto upset enough to go to Konoha. Much excitement in the next chapter.

satterb I think you might have read the chapter wrong or maybe I wasn’t clear enough so I adjusted it a little. Tsunade and Jiraiya were aware of Naruto but only Kyuubi knew that they were watching him. Naruto was completely unaware.

BumbleBee lol I am glad that the story is making you happy. It makes me happy to write. I hope school eases up for you, been there done that.

Xzanayu The story isn’t over til I end it with ‘fin’ Until that time expect the unexpected.

Sneakyfox Sasuke may have been on the run in the last chapter but in this one it looks like Naruto is heading for the hills. I wonder what Tsunade and Jiraiya have up their sleeves.

Zafirya Welcome, well actually the story that gave me the inspiration for this one was where Naruto died and took over the body of a girl and Sasuke was the Hokage like 15yrs later or something. Really no relation to my story but that story made my heart hurt so much that I formulated this story. I was so sad that the author dropped the story just where it was getting good. Keep reading and I hope you continue to enjoy the story.

Pixie lol I hope I can live up to your expectations about the eventual lemon. That kiss was pretty nice. It was the first time that I just focused on a kiss with no expectations of anything to follow.

BadDragonBran Yay I graduated to your top 3. I promise a happy ending. I wont write unless it ends happy. I also never hold my work hostage. I find it distasteful when authors hold their stories hostage. I post as much for you guys as I do for the praise. That you are reading my work makes me happy. I hope I can continue to keep you all interested in my little tale. Thanks for the review.

Nickles Yea but not as much yelling as you would think. I would have liked to have waited on the kiss but I felt that it was a good place to put it in. There is so much the two have to work out and what better way to stir up some drama than an unexpected smooch. Keep reading.

sadie237 Thanks, I spent a long time writing that kiss. Hell I have written lemons that took me less time. But I wanted to put a lot into just the one kiss. I tried to imagine what it would feel like to kiss the love of your life after so long a separation. That was the result. I am glad you approve.

Eienno Hikari Well, he was just a little shocked but don’t worry, our Sasuke will come to his senses. Next chapter will be a good one.
